I think that its worst cd. Compare to their others works and its flat.

I've been a fan of 3 Doors Down since their first album "The Better Life". I read the reviews of this release and was expecting another great cd. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. There are a couple of good rockers on this one but overall there are way too many mellow self indulgent tunes. The band has definately matured and grown as people which is great to see. Unfortunately they have lost the fire and real fellinf that made them a great band. They are following in the path of so many bands the come out with such outstanding initial efforts but seem to lose the edge and dynamic but intangible "something different" that made them so appealing. I have read reviews commenting on the improvement in musician ship and it is obvious on songs like Train and Citizen/Soldiers. It does not follow through on the majority of the songs. I've given a brief breakdown below:

Train-good rocking tune, classic 2 Doors Down

Citizen/Soldier-great song with something to say. Best on the cd. Need more like this.

It's Not My Time-ok song-typical top 40 fair-too light & not original-no fire but radio friendly(which does not mean good)

Let Me be Myself-ok tune, redundant top 40 lyrics. Skip after first couple of listens

Pages-better song, actually has something to say, tempo picks-p but they never really cut loose. Brad sings with more feeling than other tunes.

It's The Only One You've Got-another too mellow Top 40 type song (top 40 is not a good thing) Lyrics are good but song doesn't grab you. No fire and feeling doesn't carry over. Another skip after the first few listens

Give It To Me-Good song. Feeling back into the singing. Seems to really sing form the heart. Whole band seems to be involved. Very tight song.

These Days-up & down song that goes from really good to far to light & poppy. Great singing at times but overall far too much of a Top 40 pop song. Once again lacking in real fire or feeling.

Your Arms Feel Like Home-skip over track everytime after first listen. Just another "I'm in love again" song. Every band seems to eventually come out with the same song saying the same thing. Very unorigianal.

Runaway-Very poppy sounding song. OK tune but no edge and nothing special. Filler tune.

When It's Over-Ok tune. One I don't skip but kind of teases and doesn't really deliver.

She Don't Want The World-best slower tune on the cd. More feeling than the rest of the slower songs and great musicianship. A lot of tricks musically but they blend with and make the song unlike previous songs that start with some tricks and then don't deliver.

There are a grand total of four out of tewlve songs I skip over everytime I listen to this cd. Another two or three are only ok to listen to. So basically they have six out of tewlve songs that show how good this band could be. I would give this cd a 2.5 rating if I was able since only 50% is worth hearing more thaan once or twice. Since I can't do the 2.5 I lean toward a 2 instead of 3 stars.

The best way I can think of to describe the new album is classic 3 Doors Down with a new twist. That's one of my favorite things about this band is that you can see them grow as artists from one album to the next without detracting from they're previous work.

That being said, 3DD is by far my favorite of theirs so far. With other CDs, you have the singles and then you'll pick out a couple songs you like that were never released and then the rest are just fillers; with 3DD every one is amazing.

It starts off with a bang with 'Train', which is a bit more aggressive than the rest but sets the mood perfectly.
Next is 'Citizen/Soldier' which I actually liked but the version on the album is downsized from the original and they cut out my favorite part of the song.
'It's Not My Time' by now everyone's heard this one. Great lyrics.
'Let Me Be Myself' Very vunerable song. Loved the melody but I like it better acoustic.
'Pages' is probably my favorite song from this album.
'It's the Only One You've Got' I hate and love this song because it really hits home.
'Give it to me' another favorite, great guitar.
'These Days' to me, this one was really emotional. I could tell it meant something to them.
'Your arms feel like home' every album needs a ballad.
'Runaway' Great driving song. More upbeat.
'When It's Over' Again, another one that sounded like they meant every word.
'She Don't Want the World' Artistically, this is probably the best one. I've read a lot about people thinking it's a sad song and a depressing end to the album but if you really listen to the lyrics at the end it's not. It's just him telling a story but Brad really makes you feel with this one. It's probably one of those you either love it or hate it songs.

A fairly mellow CD in my opinion, but it always makes me feel happy and content, and a few of the songs make me want to hit "repeat" again and again and again!

Maturity and growth show through for these southern rockers. Truly nice guys with heart. What a difference from so many other rock bands!

Great music, true classic rock! I still haven't been to Spain. True listener. Meat and potato's.

"Three dog night" was one of these original bands whose musical arrangements, powerful originality and overwhelming combination of voices made of them one of the few white bands capable to match with the great bands of soul by then.

Their musical motifs were extremely quotidian and trivial if you may, even it might be said they were one of the most emblematic exponents of the urban reality, but standing aloof respect the great political and social affairs that were shocking the world. In this sense, their music was clearly a vehicle of evasion and - for better or worst - they unconsciously paved the way for the arrival of the disco music. As a matter of fact, it was literally impossible - in a simple musical party - to do without them. Themes such as "Celebrate," "Joy to the world", "Mama told me not come," "Eli's coming," "Easy to be hard" or "One" were referential themes.

They sculpted with golden letters their names in the history of the pop music of the early seventies.

Just a great compilation. Beware if you let Itunes manage after ripping to your PC, Itunes in all its wisdom buries this as a compilation.......

Decent CD, the remaster is OK, probably good as can be expected with old recordings.

The CD came fast which was good. I played it for the first time this weekend and am disappointed because it skips in Track 10, 11 and 12. I need a replacement.

Most great artist have recorded a "stinker" album and for the Three Tenors, this is the one. The album suffers from the lack of a good producer - someone to say "Ah...guys, lets try that one again," and "Do you really want to sing Winter Wonderland?" There are sloppy entrances, one or two flat notes, and some really bad song choices. With all the great Christmas music available, why did anyone think that it was a good idea for these particular singers to sing "Sleigh Ride?" However, as another reviewer noted, their rendition is good for a giggle or two. Unless you are a completist, don't waste your money. Pavarotti and Domingo have both recorded wonderful Christmas albums. Buy those!

The cd would not play all the songs. It would skip on serval of the selections.

I am a huge fan of ALL of these guys ie; The Three Tenors. I am not a snob when it comes to music, I sit back and relax and enjoy. But man oh man, this was woeful ! Singing out of synch with the orchestra, exceptionally poor english, the wrong words even to one of the songs. No, sorry boys but this was a boo boo CD !!!!

This is a truly beautiful addition to my Christmas music collection. Can't wait to listen to it every day with the holidays approaching.

Album is great. For any other holiday music, just listen to your local radio station that plays it during December.

This album's different from 3DG's self-titled work, but make no mistake, the sound is uniquely Adam Gontier & Co.

The album bursts right into your face with the harmonically rich "It's All Over" (a contrast to the simpler chords in older songs such as "Just Like You"). The similar song "Pain" follows, and then the summit track "Animal I Have Become". Right after is the hit single, the softer, somewhat inspiring "Never Too Late". More inspiration follows in the appropriately riotous "Riot".

The album turns dark with "Get Out Alive", but then brightens up a bit with the string quartet-backed "Over and Over" (a song about Adam's drug addiction), and a couple of fusions of 3DG's traditional style with a punk-anthem theme, something that I find pretty unique.

Overall, this album's definitely rock-solid, and a valuable buy for anybody who liked the self-titled, or albums by similar bands such as The Exies and Trust Company.

This Is Three Day's Grace Best Album, Better Then The First. I Really Enjoyed All These Hard Rock Song's. Animal I Have Become, Riot, And It's All Over Are My Top 10 Hard Rock Song's. All These Song's Were Great. Great Album.

What can I say about this band? AWESOME!!!!!!!! Their music and lyrics are just so awesome!!!!!! I love hearing Adam's voice when he sings. If you ever have depression... you can always listen to this band. I recommand Never Too Late and One-X. Those are my favorite songs! I really love all of the songs on here! This band has changed people's lives. That's why I love this band! Whenever I feel sad... I'll always listen to them. They are really awesome live too! I really love it when Adam sings Alice in Chains's Rooster in concert. He's awesome!!!! Three Days Grace will be there for you if you're ever feeling down and need to listen to some good rock music. "Maybe we'll turn it all around cause it's not too late... it's never too late."

I agree with Christopher S. Smith's review, awsome CD but there is some filler that could be better. This is a good listen none the less my fav is "Riot".

I sit here at my computer and try to think of superlatives adequate to accurately describe this album....and there just aren't any. It is worthy to be the best selling classical album of all time....but it's more than that. It's just a must have, a collection to soothe the savage breast. For those times when I have lost hope, when I am past care.....I will sit with closed eyes and listen to this. And revive my soul.....

This is a most enjoyable cd. The music selection is varied, creative and powerful. I think this concert was so special. I'm not particularly classical music oriented, but I did enjoy this music and have listened to the cd many times over. It is the depth of voices, clearness of notes and the fun the 3 tenors were having that really enchanted me. These three tenors have such a gift to give and do give it most generously. Most of the songs are classic Italian so that even people like myself who aren't necessarily opera buffs will enjoy hearing these voices even if they cannot understand a word. Most likely I will order more of this type of music.

I respectfully agree yet disagree with Ms Barbara Eisner who wrote the review of the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. She is right that Carreras was not on par with the other 2 but that is only because at this late stage in his (Carreras) career he was not in the very fine voice he once was due to overuse of his voice and his battle with leukemia, which he valiantly won!. If you could appreciate, as I do,Carreras' 1970's richly-gorgeous and velvety voice in recordings of operas such as Lucia, La Boheme, Donizetti and liter Verdi operas you would have seen his mid 70's peak voice would have been every been as excellent as Domingo and Pavarotti were in the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. In fact, I dare to say he would have blown both men out of the water..with the possible exception of Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. Just listen to Carreras singing with Caballe on youtube in Adriana Lecrouveur and Tosca and you'll see what I mean!!!

Saw this concert on TV and was so moved by their voices and the opera experience, had to order and was not disappointed. I listen to it and feel relaxed, excited and amazed. I listen to alot of different music (mostly rock) so people who know me were curious and listened too and were surprised how much they liked it.

Arrived in fine time. Knew what I was getting, based on several viewings and listenings on PBS. Met my expectations. Good quality of used CD.

This is a fantastic album with good rap and two slower songs. My interest in this band began when I bought 'Don't Trust Me' on iTunes, but then I liked 'Starstrukk' too so I bought that. But both of these songs got me up and going and I thought the cd would be great to work out to (which it absolutely is) so I bought the whole album off iTunes. I totally recommend this cd- the artists are white boy rappers but thats no diss, these are the best! Rock on!

Another overrated band to grace the late night TV airwaves. They don't have much to back up their late night acclaim though. Notable songs are lacking, this album sounds like a kid's garage arrangement on some home computer.

This album's tunes were so catchy, I couldn't stop listening to them and just dancing around my room. Any person who likes beats will love 3OH!3.

The first time I listened to this CD, I hated it.

Then I gave it another chance, listening to each song all the way through, and I was hooked. The clever lyrics, great baselines and diversity throughout the CD makes it a great soundtrack for a lot of things. I'm roadtripping right now, and I take a break from satellite radio at least once I day by popping "Want" into my CD player.

This is a really strong debut. The songs start to sound similar after a while, but that shouldn't be a bad thing if you like them. Recommended for anyone who likes alternative rock.

I started with "One X" and worked back with this group. This CD has some good tracks but did not seem to grab me the way "One X" did, A good listen non the less though, GREAT sound, GREAT Group.

Three Days Grace is angry, and they want you to know it on their debut album. They dispense with subtlety, yet at the same time don't sacrifice the quality of their music, which is very difficult to do on a debut album. The band has become very popular and somewhat more mellow since this album came out, which isn't to say they've turned soft, but it's very hard to top a debut album like this. With songs like "Home" and "(I Hate) Everything About You," this album will have you pumped just by listening to it. A very good first effort by a band we can expect good things from in the future.

I've always loved Three Days Grace and just never realized who they were I guess...

This is the first album I have acquired of the Three Tenors, and it was wonderful. The selections were easy to listen to and familiar to me. None of the heavy operatic selections. It is the best. I will buy more albums of them.

This is a good recording. If you don't like the 3 tenors, then look else where. It's that simple. These are recordings from concerts where they WERE supposed to show off. This ain't opera. If you want opera, go out and attend one.

The first thing we must establish here is that this is not meant to be opera. This is three exceptionally talented tenors enjoying themselves and giving tremendous joy to those listening by singing mostly popular "evergreens" and also some operatic arias. The beauty in music lies in the diversity, in my opinion. One can better appreciate one type of music when one knows about the others. And why should we limit ourselves to listen to just one genre in music. It would be the same as having steak for dinner every day for the rest of your life, wouldn't it? So why should we limit three wonderful tenors to only sing operatic arias for the rest of their lives? If so we wouldn't have "Maria", "You'll never walk alone", "Singing in the rain" or any of the evergreens on this recording and that would be a shame.

There are no solos on the cd. I think I've read somewhere that they felt there had been enough "three tenors cd's" and if they were to release yet another one it would be one containing what the audience demands, the three of them joining forces and performing together in the songs.
The result, in my opinion is highly recommendable. The three voices blend perfectly together. I have to admit that I have a personal favourite among the tenors and that I would never buy an entire recording featuring only one of the two others, but I recognize their talents and -as stupid as it may sound- since they are performing together I can also appreciate the other two. (I like them too, but in smaller doses....)Some people have commented on their problems with mastering the english language. If anything, I think it just adds to their charm. By the way, who is perfect??

The songs on this cd is a mixture of beautiful songs, heartwrenching songs, toe-tapping songs and powerful songs. It's wonderful to just listen to the beauty in the three voices. It's fun hearing Pavarotti pushing his "high-note-button" in "O sole mio" and Carreras and Domingo copying his stunt. I have no idea what they're singing about in "Manha de Carnaval", but boy does it sound romantic...... And "Dicitencello vuie" brings tears to my eyes (even if I'm still left in the dark when it comes to understanding the meaning of the words...) In "Because" Carreras takes my breath away when singing "because God made thee mine, I'll cherish thee...through light and darkness, through all time to be, and pray his love may make our love divine...." (What woman wouldn't like to hear those words..??!?) Their rendition of "You'll never walk alone" should satisfy some of the soccer-fans since it's the anthem of a European football-club and "Nessun Dorma" will probably satisfy the rest of the soccer-fans, being the antheme of the 1998 world soccer championship. In short, there should be something for every taste on this cd.

It's a very "versatile" cd. You can play it almost everywhere. You can sing along to it in the car, you can dance around the house to it while doing your chores, you can put your feet up and unwind after a hectic week. Or you can write an Amazon review while listening to it.... (Feel free to add suggestions of your own here.....)

To make a long story short - a very enjoyable cd!

This is one of the best albums I've ever had. I can't believe I lost it, along with some others, several years ago, but I loved it so much that I'm finally giving up looking and buying it all over again. More than worth it.

Heard the rest, and enjoy them all, but The Better Life is still the best of the 3DD recordings.

If you have heard 3 Doors Down on the radio and are curious about this band, this is a great album to start with, their first. There are so many hits on this album, and even the lesser known songs rock. "Down Poison", "By My Side" and "Smack" are probably my favorite songs of the lesser known on the list. Overall, this album is great. I love the song "Be Like That".

3 Doors Down's 2000 debut "The Better Life" is an appealing album from a band that exudes a lot of potential. While they don't really distance themselves from familiar sounds of lots of 90s alternative rock, they display some good songwriting and instrumental talent. Singer and drummer Brad Arnold speaks of anger, depression, and troubles in life, but his delivery and raw emotion set him apart. Musically, their sound is unrefined rock, often pretty hard. The heavy guitars and rough percussion are tough, yet the songwriting is clever enough to put them to effective use. There are some well-constructed pop songs here, as well as some deep-album tracks that are equally worthy. The songwriting is not consistent to the point that every track is as good as the last, and towards the end there are a couple skip-worthy songs. But overall, "The Better Life" is a worthy modern rock album.

The first song is the monster single "Kryptonite," an unforgettable pop rock song. Arnold's lyrics emit loss and confusion, yet very emotionally. The guitar riffs at the end of the song and early pluckings are part of what make this song so great. The next song was also a single, "Loser." I like this song a lot. The lyrics speak darkly of depression and addiction. My favorite part is towards the middle, when the song breaks into a furious guitar battle, before dipping back into the spinning midtempo of the beginning. "Duck and Run" is an inspiring song with a great performance from Arnold, a highlight. I think my favorite song, though, is "Not Enough," a well-written and memorable song about a struggling relationship. "Be Like That" is a slow, sad songabout troubled yet hopeful folks, I remember this being a hit too, and for good reason. "Life of My Own" comes off as very similar to "Not Enough," but it's pretty good too. The title track is fast, classic-sounding hard rock with a great guitar line. "Down Poison" is the album's most disturbed song by far, an eerie and loud but quite effective track. "By My Side" is not bad but forgettable, and the faster "Smack" is better. The final song "So I Need You" isn't very memorable either.

"The Better Life" is a very solid and enjoyable album of late-90s styled alternative rock, but it's a very accessible sound that should appeal to many types of listeners. Except for a few slight missteps towards the end of the tracklist, it's a very nice album to have and I recommend it.

This is the first rock album I owned. It got me into rock at a time when talentless hacks like Limp Bizkit were dominating the airwaves. I, like many others, got into it after hearing the catchy Kryptonite on the radio. Back then I would have given this album 5 stars. But as I said, it got me into rock music and as a result I found out about much better bands. Six years later, after hearing a wide variety of music, this album just seems a bit bland to me.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad album. It's got some pretty good hooks and the guitarists aren't bad. Brad Arnold is a decent vocalist, although he can sometimes be a bit monotonous.

But now I'm going to focus on the negatives, because not many reviewers have done that yet.

I didn't really like the guitar tone. I can't really explain why but I think it needed better production. Of course, this is a minor problem.

Also, I didn't like how the guitarists always played in a staccato style. Although it works really well on fast paced songs like Smack, they often used it when it was inappropriate. I felt they should have held their notes longer on songs like Kryptonite and Better Life. Often there will be very noticable gaps between their notes, with nothing to fill them in, and it ends up sounding pretty amateur. It also makes the playing sound very mechanical and lifeless. It kinda takes the soul out of the music, if you know what I mean.

Also, the drummer, although he gets the job done, was pretty ordinary. It just seems like he's playing the same drum beat in every single song. This is exacerbated by the bad sound production, which makes the bass drum and the toms harder to hear and the cymbols easier to hear. In the end, it just sounds like he's just sitting there hitting the symbols the whole time.

My greatest problem with this album, however, is not the individual songs, but the album as a whole. The songs on their own a very good, but it's difficult to listen to the 11 tracks consecutively because they are too similar to each other. The whole album is very monotonous, lacking in variation to keep the listener interested. There is little variation in the tone and dynamics of the album as a whole. Most of the songs have the typical soft chorus with acoustic guitar followed by a loud chorus with powerchords from the electric guitar type of song structure which was popularised by Nirvana in the early nineties. The problem is this song structure has been so overused by rock bands in the past 16 years that this album automatically becomes mediocre for its overuse of it. Every song on the album except the ballad Be Like That and the last 3 songs utilises this song strucure. The only difference is, the first 6 songs start with an acoustic guitar riff and the rest (apart from the last one) start off with an electric guitar riff. None of the songs start with a drum beat, or ambience or anything different. Most of the songs seem to have the same mood or themes and this makes it very tedious. Brad Arnold's singing is also very monotonous. He hardly changes pitch or volume throughout the whole album.

This is not a bad album for those who are new to rock. It certainly contains quite a few catchy hooks. But in the end, the album, as a whole, comes off quite bland due to its monotony. If you want something heavy, alternative, or if you want variety this is not the album for you.

I'm glad I started out with Three Doors Down with this CD, I'm a fan forever. I originally bought it because I had heard "Here Without You" on the radio, but there's so many great songs on here, I listen to it often--it's downloaded on my I-Pod also.

I think that 3 Doors Down has to be one of the best Rock bands in recent years. They did the impossible with this album, made it better than the original. If you are a fan of 3 Doors Down and the album "The Better Life", then you will love this. "Away From the Sun" is the perfect album. Any song on this record are good enough to be a single. I don't dance, but man did I feel like dancing while listening to this! I couldn't help but move when I listen. If you are a fan, you will think this album rocks! And you will be correct.

Definitely 3 Doors Down's best album. Every song is good on here, and most of them really rock. It's a shame that they don't try to push their boundaries, though, because they could be so much more than an average, super-popular pop/rock band.

If you like 3 Doors down, you'll love it, if you dont, you'll hate it. It's my favorite album of theirs though.
