ATB

I really like ATB. I have all his stuff. I'm also into trance/house/progressive. ATB needs to stick with what he does best: making his own songs on his own CDs. This CD mix compilation is just not good. Poor song selection. None of the tracks are very good at all. Sorry, but that's what's up.

I'm not bashing his mixing skills or expecting everything to sound like one of his actual CDs at all, but only that the CDs have very mediocre music tracks and you'd be better off with a compilation from Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond (Anjunabeats series), Tiesto (In Search of Sunrise series), Cosmic Gate (Back 2 Back 3), Sasha (Invol2ver), Gabriel & Dresden, etc.

Actually, if you're into ATB, you should really get OceanLab - Sirens of the Sea (Above & Beyond plus a singer... Carrie something..). It's all melodic, chill, female vocal trance. It's not a compilation CD, but original releases and you'll love it.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, ATB has done it again. Get this one while it's hot. And when Amazon obtains it, because as of May 22, 2008 they don't have it, yet.

aside from a few songs on this album most of the songs just fade into the backround and are not particularly interesting

For all those fans of ATB this is a must have. It has a great balance of songs on the first cd and on the second one is a great selection of instrumental trance that really reaches your senses. You like ATB, you will love this Album.

I've been a big fan since 1999 with Movin' Melodies which is still one of my favorite albums. Followed "The Summer" into the album Two Worlds, which was different, but still great. The sound became mature with in the next two albums: Dedicated and Addicted to Music. No Silence sounded a bit different at first but grew on me and now I enjoy it just the same. I've also tried getting into his other works, such as the DJ MIX, but I don't like them.

Sticking to ATB studio creations, I bought Trilogy to get more of the same great trance. On the first disc, I only enjoy listening to Justify repeatedly, while others are just OK. The distinct rock sound blended with the some trance feels like bland pop-rock. For perspective, I like almost every single track from all previous albums. Most of the soft music in Trilogy CD2 is softer and bland compared to Two Worlds disc 2.

In the middle of all 95 tracks, Trilogy tracks stick out like a sore thumb. When the distinct rock sounds come on, it feels like I've heard them before from a real rock artist. I give this 3 stars because of the hit song Justify and a few other good ones.

I used to be a big fan of ATB 6 or 7 years ago back in my college days. But if you are looking for good trance... DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM. The second album isn't even music really. Although if you own a massage business it would be nice to play the second CD in the background.

On the first CD I didn't flag ONE of the songs for my top trance playlists. The vocals almost seemed like a joke to me they were so cheesy.

I am a really big fan of Trance, but even so, I maybe a bit on my own even within that group.

I enjoyed the second disk. It was possibly more ambient, but that is not why I liked it. It lacked vocals.

Ten out of the 12 songs on the first disk include vocals. I listen to trance, ambient, ethereal to ESCAPE talking. The voice can certainly add sound to a track. In those cases I am fine with it.

I will continue to acquire releases from ATB, but realizing now that his work may include vocals, I will have to scrutanize each CD, song by song and evaluate whether there is enough to each title to warrant a purchase. Being able to purchase individual songs through Amazon is certainly an alternate I will have to persue.

For me this is a 16 song album (I do not upload the 12 songs with vocals to my players). For the money, that is still a LOT of music.

Being a fan of classic music as well of a fan of electronic music, this album blew me away, I often play this CD when I want to create a relaxed atmosphere and I know for a fact that 4 friends of mine have bought the CD after listening to it here with me.
Xerxes and Cavalleria rusticana are sublime achievements of production.

Mr. Orbit, "Hello waveforms" is great but you should take time to produce a second CD of pieces in a modern style.

PS: It's the perfect gift for classic music lovers, you can't expect them to have it and they'll love it for sure

I have been working in electronic music for almost 20 years years. I have a massive library of music for almost any reason, mood and itch. Tonight, I am taking the five minutes to stop and write how unique, amazing and consistently refreshing this album is everytime I go back to it since the day it was released.

Highly Melodic, very electronic and overall lacking the percussive elements most have come to know when listening to Orbit.

Much more sophisticated than the average listener might appreciate.Consider it a staple for anyone serious about electronic music.

I believe anyone rating this poorly is looking for a pop appeal that you just won't find here, thankfully.

I don't know who Maxine Kubabi is. She's certainly untitled to her opinion. An "ungainly meeting of the sublime and the absurd?" What a sublimely empty and inadequate statement.

You have to know something about a genre before you can be an effective critic inside it. You should be able to specify why you don't like something in some detail, rather than resort to crabby nebulousities ... that's greasy kid stuff.

What Orbit has done is to realize some old, familiar works in an electronic medium, using smooth and musical strokes. He's taken many big chances. Some of them worked out well, others not as well as one might hope. But he deserves kudos for taking a risk and for making some of it work.

Why would anyone who *likes* electronic music complain that it doesn't have live instrumentation? That's like complaining that jazz has no rock and roll in it. "Reverence"? "Second rate Vangelis"? so: you were disappointed that Orbit didn't create more of the kind of schmaltz you personally like. Yanni, anyone?

For those who actually like electronic music, and like Beethoven's Opus 132, please, give that track a listen. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have been a fan William Orbit since Water from a vine leaf and I have to admit while this ins't exactly a electronica per se it is still amazing to see what he has done with our classics. The listening experience depends solely on the listener. More ambient than anything else I have heard though.

If you're looking for something to pop in late at night to dance to...this is not the album. This album is eery and some of it is painful. It's not full of upbeat electronics like originally thought it would be. But, I love it. It's great to listen to while just thinking...relaxing...reading...it's beautiful.

Like all the others that posted their reviews, I've been listening to Trance for quite some time. I bought this CD at a time when I almost gave up on this kind of music. Why give up on Trance? Well, personally, there are few Mixes out there that can hold the attention of the average listener. Its a fact that many people automatically label Trance as monotonous and boring. However, this Mix by ATB is quite the opposite. This Euphoric, Emotionally Generated Mix brings life to Trance. I'm pleased to have found this Mix.

Final thoughts: I'm perplexed why anybody would rate this CD two stars. "No Silence", also by ATB, cannot be compared to this CD since that album is almost completely different but still an ATB signature creation. No Silence contains more vocal trance, and when compared to a Mix there is a big difference. Rating this CD, "DJ in the Mix", so poorly is an injustice to ATB and his productions. He happens to be #8 on the DJ List; One of the world's top 10 DJs! I voice this opinion because I happen to own both of these CDs ( No Silence / Dj in the Mix ). Although each create a different feeling with a different style, they are both awesome and from the same source - ATB. Andre Tenneberger has skill; Haters,.. Just give it up for ATB!

ATB has been ranked as one of the worlds top 10 D.J's and after listening to this cd it becomes apperant why. the songs are incredibly full and each have a sound of there own while still haveing the same basic sound that can be related to atb yet are still completely independant from his style. Also each song is mixed flawlessly making you wounder when the song you'd just been listening to ended. Even if your not a fan of ATB this cd is still a must have.

I bought this CD about 2 years ago, back when DJ favoritism was really bad. It still exists, but just isn't as bad, cause alot of DJs actually work together now when it comes to providing insight or producing and such.
This has always been a special CD in my collection, and I felt compelled to write a review after seeing someone gave it 2 stars I believe.
The track selection was great, but I knew this CD would get discredited some because ATB made this a DJ mix, and you can tell in the first couple of songs, it has an almost live feel, and he's using different types of transitions, as opposed to pushing something out via ableton live that is already beatmatched and doesn't need to use these DJing techniques. Don't get me wrong though, because I love mixes that have used that software, also. So I'm in no way being biased, I'm just saying at first, it will be something you aren't used to, but it is a true DJ mix, and you'll come to respect that as I did hopefully.

This is definately a treat from the usual ATB. This is one of my favorite two disc sets... truly amazing. Buy it, and enjoy the journey. You won't be disappointed when it's over!!

This has to be one of the best trance albums ever, although slightly flawed. Disc one is a little weak after the first two tracks, but disc two is truly awesome, especially "Binary Finary" and "In My Dreams". Better than Tiesto, PVD, and Oakenfold. Why? Because it has emotion and has moments of pure bliss. This music makes me feel intelligent and young again. BTW, I am 52 years old (maybe you noticed I can spell)

This ATB compilation is excellent! Upbeat tracks and some blissful trance too. I like the Videos. It is in PAL format, but that's okay.

ATB is my favorite artist, and Movin' Melodies is my favorite album by a landslide. I'll have to say, a lot of my absolute favorite songs have come off this CD: 9PM (Till I come), Don't Stop, Too Much Rain and Sunburn are just a few.

If you are new to trance, this CD would be a great starter/introduction of the way trance is supposed to be done. And if you appreciate good music period, you should definitely add this to your collection.

Movin' Melodies is an album unlike any other album I have ever heard. While all of ATB's albums are incredible, I chose to review Movin' Melodies because it was my first experience with trance styled techno. I was never much of a trance fan simply because trance seems to be a genre in which all the songs begin to sound the same to me. Eventually it becomes hard to distinguish one artist from another. However, ATB's music has a sound all its own and now I am hooked on ATB! I highly recommend this album to anyone wanting to listen to something different and addictive.

First released in October of 1999, Movin' Melodies was Andre Tanneberger's first album. His albums have only gotten better since then but I view this album as the must have from his collection.

The few songs on the album with lyrics can be thought of as somewhat repetitive. However, the repetitiveness of the lyrics within each song seems to flow well with the melodies and beats that accompany them so it does not detract from the overall feel of the song. All of the songs on this album have the same sort of sound, each put with different melodies and beats. Movin' Melodies provides a vast range of music from fast and upbeat songs like "9PM (Till I Come)" to the calm, soothing and melodious sounds of "Too Much Rain." Regardless of your preference, the infectious beats on this album make it a must have for any music lover's collection!

I do not know of any other trance artist out there with similar sounds to ATB but with his vast variety of music available, why look elsewhere? Another favorite album of mine would have to be Seven Years: 1998 - 2005 but as I mentioned earlier, all of his albums are great and worth checking out!

Alright, "9pm(Till I Come)" Was Pretty Good When It Was First Released, But Thats About All ATB Has Goin For Him. This Entire Album Is All Based Around That Annoying Little Twangy Guitar Sample Heard In....Well, All His Songs On This Album. What An Insult To True Fans Of Trance & Electronic Music. ATB Along With DJ Sammy, Darude, Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl, Alice Deejay ETC, ETC Made Trance A Dirty Word And For That Any True Fan Of Trance Should Boycott All These Fake Artists Music, And Welcome True Trance Talent Paul Van Dyk, Matt Darey, Tiesto, Cristopher Lawrence, and Others Back For Some Real, True, & Intelligent Music, Burn This Album!!!!

ATB is one of the most talented artists I have come across in a long time. His music is very differentiated and unique. Very listenable whether you are driving with your girlfriend, relaxing on the beach, sailing out on the deep blue, or just plain mellowing out on your sofa or favorite chair (not to mention moving sensually across the dance floor!). It is romantic, nostalgic, hot, cool, sexy, temperamental....AWESOME! I can't get enough of his music. Great music for all ages who enjoy fresh, experiential sounds that tease the imagination and tempt memories young and old alike. Take a trip...buy ATB music...and revisit your past while connecting with the future (I know...sounds weird...but it happens).

Simply amazing. Top #5 Trance CDs of all time. A must have!! There is only one song on here that I'm not crazy about. Not many lyrics, just moving melodies.

I am sorry but this album is just not good to me. There's not a single really memorable track in it for me. It is just so forgettable. Don't let the pretty cover fool you....there are far better trance albums out there.

I am going to buy it again without a doubt. Although this album does bring back a wave of memories one thing i can assure you..it's well worth it. It gets you into the feel of the EMOTION behind trance music.. songs like it's a beautiful day.. i love it when it feels this way..be prepared for a relaxing ESCAPE... Listen to it with an open mind.. it will relax you.. like i said in the begining, the very first song to the last...will be played in your ears and mind just like a beautiful story book with a perfect ending... go figure why the first song on this CD is called "Children." It is your responsibility to re access that inner child and come into contact with your innerself... this CD was like meditation to me...and I hope you get the chance to own a copy for this was the first CD album that had me and not only I loving trance music...

and all of the rest were kinda iffy. if you were in the mood, and too tired to change the song you'd just listen to them. otherwise you'd probably change it. and a few of them aren't EVEN trance.. thank god i bought Volume 2 first. because if i would've bought this one first.. i don't think i would've gone back to "BEST OF TRANCE." it's a shame.

Okay, Now I need to change my review again... Originally, I was torn between giving this 2 stars or 3 stars, but oh well, I gave it 2. I did not like many tracks on this disc, however I really liked the songs Beautiful Day and Communication, and a few others are okay also. If you must have this, get it used. I also got Vol 2, it's way better than this. I don't really think this is worth the price.

ATB assembles an excellent selection of songs and artists on this effort "Dj In The Mix 3". Fan of his or not i believe you will appreciate the collection, amount and the variety of artists on this cd. I've been a fan of ATB for years now and i'm glad to see him still doing what he does and continue to give excellent music that we can all enjoy. The cd (disc 1 & 2) totals 29 songs (2 versions of his "Summer Rain" song) and clocks in at well over 2 hours. By the time you reach the end of disc 2 you've experienced a great musical trip.

One of the best trance/electronica CDS for 2007. ATB hits it with a great set that sustains a good level of energy with mostly quality transitions. You won't be disappointed with the set or his work on this one. Enjoy!

The actual CD is great, some of the best from ATB i've ever heard, a little poppy but still good...I was dissapointed with how it arrived from Amazon though. The CD wont even work in one of my CD players, had to upload it to my computer and make new ones for it to work, but now there's a break in between the tracks so so much for hearing a good mix...anyway take your chances, maybe I just got the one damaged one....

Together with Armin's State of Trance 2006 and Thrillseekers' Nightmusic, it's the most perfect trance collection of the last 5 years.

This cd was given to me almost 7 years ago...and it's still as amazing as ever. I don't listen to that much trance anymore, but I still love this cd.

Trust me, this man and his work is truely inspiring. A wonderful piece of art. I liked the idea of two CDs and a different theme for them both and it is perfectly executed. A somewhat similar style to "moving melodies" in some tracks, but a new style in others (he continues to develop this style in future albums). If I had a complaint, it would be that one of the CDs is a little short (what can I say I'm addicted!)

I had the misfortune of purchasing this CD. The reasons I don't like it are: It is entirely too simple. By that I mean its a beat and a melody. He may be a good DJ but his original music is left far behind. His overuse on the pitch modulation on the bass loops were driving me insane. Overall I just didn't like it at all. I listen to electronica all the time and I just couldn't feel this album at all.

First of all i would like to comment on all those that has been saying that this is a weak and boring album that it's not. ATB do sound diffrent from his first, here the majority of the songs are slow and not like "9PM" but they are less commercial too. Most songs are passioned with beautiful melodies, there surely are way to many songs included but there are loads of wonderful songs there. "The fields of love" "Engrossing Moments" and "The summer" are exellent and his "Let you go" with Wild Strawberries is not bad either, they are all superb relax songs. The great Heather Nova (2 songs) and Enigma are also feautured here, the result is a sensual and beautuful dance album. "Klagwent" is more of a electro song, "Timeless" is a mix of drums&bass and dance, like "Cabana Moon" on "Addicted to music" and the songs with Heathee Nova includes vocals obviously, so all songs are not slow relax songs but occasional fans that only liked the commercial "9pm" and simular songs should stay away from this cause it's diffrent from "Movin Melodies" that's not a bad thing though.

This tape, along with all of ATB's other tapes are sick!!! You can't stop this guy!! COME TO THE 808 STATE SOON PLEASE!!!

Not much more I can say that the other reviews did not cover. This is an awesome album, but if you hate vocal trance, skip this album. Otherwise, I think everyone should love this music plain and simple.

You know how it is, you hear just one song and it stays at the forefront of your mind. Now I'm not talking about those songs that are annoying and make you want to get back at the person who made you remember it or played it for you. I'm talking of a real creative piece of music that strikes a cord in your soul.
ATB's song "Ecstasy" did that to me. I came across it while watching a video on YouTube and had to have the song. Now normally I don't purchase a CD for just one song, I usually have a three song rule. But with this album I took a chance, and found a great selection of music on there. This CD quickly made it into my car as one of the top ones I listen to while driving, and I have added tracks to MP3 player to listen to while I exercise. I plan to add more music from ATB to my music collection. With what I have heard from them so far I don't see how I could go wrong.

I'm relatively new to the dance scene and I have heard a lot of hype about ATB so I finally picked up this cd figuring a greatest hits would be the way to go. I understand that ATB is a vocal trance artist but I have a massive complaint: it seems like the ONLY thing that makes ATB distinctive is his use of vocals. If the vocals were stripped away from the music we would be left with boring fills and substandard beats. I'm not saying that it is bad because it has vocals, I'm saying that all it has are vocals. I became bored quickly with most of the songs. The only highlights to me were: Ectascy and 9 P.M. I'm hoping that I just didn't get it and need to hear some of his other work to understand and appreciate ATB. But until I do I'm going to list this as massively disappointing.

If you own ATB's previous cds, you'll already have many of the tracks. It is nice to have his hits all on one cd though. in this compilation, it's cool to see how ATB's sound has evolved over time.
