Different than the newer stuff, but that's why I like it. Don't much care for the new. Good cd.

this album was very amazing after track 2 the songs started to get a little emotional like the songs skin and speculum awsome vocals and beats a great debut from adema. If some of you are wondering the vocals of adema sound a little a like johnathan davis vocals of korn their are half brothers but otherwise this album was great from begining to end music to your ears.

It's the best one they've done, and there are a few tracks that are definitly note worthy, while there are others that disappoint.

I am sure that Adema does not have the corner on the whiney market, but they certainly seem to be vying for that spot. This album is full of poor me, my mommy and daddy didn't listen to me crap. Having a roof and meals are not enough, I need to be understood.
I wonder if this album is a top pick for Emo cutters? Adema: Music to Cut by. As saddened as I am that people will feel so isolated and small as to want to "feel" by harming themselves, I am not so surprised since music like this seems willing and ready to wrap them in its message of "poor us."
This music serves as an example of the cultural clash that we have with so much of the world. Poor us, we suffer from our comfort and excess. Total BS!
I threw my copy in the trash (yes I really did). I couldn't stand the whining anymore.

Adema is most definitely not as good as Korn, but this is a fairly solid debut album from a band that had to come out of Korn's shadow (Singer Mark is Jon Davis' half-brother.)
"Giving In" is the best and most recognizable song by these guys, and will be the only one that put them on the map during their career.
Mark is no longer the singer after the second album, and the third album really sucked, so Adema is dead.
At least we have this album to remember them by when they were relevant.
It can be listened to completely through without skipping any songs. No filler.

I'll keep this short and sweet. There are quite a few catchy songs on this CD, but the lyrics will make you cringe. It's like listening to a 13 year-old complain about not having a girlfriend.

But, while the music isn't groundbreaking, it's definitely not horrible either. A decent effort. Listen for yourself.

I don't know if this is going to make much sense to you, but Adema went forward as well as backwards with this release. They managed to strip away the tired routine of rap/rock that made their debut less than desirable but in the process stripped away any ounce of strength within their musical arrangements and deliver to us boring and uninspired tracks.

The opening track `Co-Dependant' is forgettable and the closing track `Needles' tries way to hard and delivers way to little. All in all they have one or two note-worthy tracks amidst what feels like filler, and that's sad because their debut offered promise amidst immaturity and I was really hoping that their sophomore album would refine their skills as apposed to diminishing them.

The best track here by far is the single `Unstable'. It's the only track that really packs a punch so-to-speak. Lyrically it's the strongest track here too, nothing overly ridiculous coming out of Mike's mouth. I can't think of a bad thing to say about this track. Sadly it misled me into thinking that this album was going to match the strength of its first single. Songs like the aforementioned `Co-Dependant' and `Rip the Heart out of Me' try to capitalize on `Unstable' by presenting similar song structure but fail to truly make it work. `Step Up' is the token `abuse' track that seems to be popular today, but it lacks any heart, any real depth of emotion. I can't connect to it.

Songs like `So Fortunate' seem so out of place it's a shame they were included. They are memorably horrible. That's not something you want to remember. `Betray' is the type of track that just adds little to the album. It's not bad but it's not good; purely forgettable. In fact the same can be said for pretty much the remainder of the album. Songs like `Let Go' and `Do You Hear Me' are not technically `bad' songs but they are just so forgettable. None of them will stay with you; none of them will move you to listen again. `Stressin' is slightly better, but not much.

One thing you notice when listening to this album is that it lacks any edge. It's just so formulistic, so generic that it dies upon contact, never delivering anything notable. When they try to add some edge (like on the closer `Needles') they go so far overboard that it comes across out of place and absurd and gives me nothing more than a headache.

Two tracks that at least deliver on the contemporary side of things are `Blame Me' and `Promises'. They develop nicely and flow well; so while neither are tracks you'd expect from Adema they are at least decent tracks in themselves. `Promises' at times seems a little forced but it works itself out in the end.

In the end there are really only three songs worth mentioning here. Aside from `Unstable', `Promises' and `Blame Me' this sophomore album is a dud. I'd skip this altogether and find something a little more palatable.

I will give them this though; I love the cover art.

This CD is completely pushed by the song, "Unstable". All other songs are blander, mainstream-ish types, and the other track, "Immortal", is a lyrical disaster. I mean, it is simply repeating "You can't kill me, I'm immortal." - Like it's a revelation to people, that the word "Immortal" means unable to be killed. Overall, this CD is only good for that one song. If you have an Ipod, Buy the track, if not, simply disregard the rest.

So this isn't the worst CD ever made but it's far from the best, and it's far from their debut. The first single 'Unstable' is a great song, and 'Promises' although feeling a little forced is still decent...but the problem here is that other than 'Rip the heart out of me' (which is still not great) the rest of the CD falls flat and becomes very forgettable. They had so much promise with their debut that for this album to come out with no support and dismal sales and then to really (for lack of a better word) suck the way it did is sad. So now they've dumped Mike (the singer) and thats probably for the best since his voice just doesn't fit. I know what you may think...he sounds just like Jonathon Davis, but Jon makes it work and Mike just couldn't...Anyways, it's sad they had to go out like this...I hear that 'Planets' (the bands effort without Mike) is decent, but still not much success is coming their way. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Well I've listened to the new Adema album, Planets, and it's just not the same without the lead singer, Mark Chavez. The new singer's voice doesn't have anything that draws your attention like Mark's does.

Anyway, I believe Unstable is Adema's greatest album (and most likely last greatest). People complain about lack of depth in the lyrics; however, this lack of depth makes it easier to relate with situations in your own life. The best songs are:

Many people think this is the worst adema's album. All because Luke changed the style of the band with his voice. If you guys stop thinking about old adema with Chavez, you would see how good this cd is. Unique songs, very pleasant to be heard.

This is just simple, regular, GOOD rock. In fact, when I got it I was astonished by the different sound. While Old Adema was good FOR THE TIME, this is much better. Most people wont agree because they like rap rock and like the Korn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit sound. I personally, with the exception of LP, don't. Adema goes from sounding like a Korn, LP, Deftones mix, to sounding like straight up rock.
New singers voice is very good and while it doesnt fix old Adema AT ALL, it is very good. VERY GOOD. Old Adema ALWAYS had tracks that were the most annoying songs out there at the time mixed in with their solid tracks. Gone is the rap/metal, in is better singing (sorry for old the Old Adema fans) and straight up rock.
This will NOT be for everyone, especially HARDCORE old Adema fans, but pick it up if you arent familiar with Adema, or want to hear something different and better. IF you like Old Adema, hey, your not alone, but listen to this CD as if it were another band and you will enjoy it 50 times more.

Bands in the past have done fine pulling off a change of singers...Adema is not one of them. I loved their first few releases, and this one is not half bad...it's just not Adema. If they announced a breakup and started a new band with this new singer I would probably really dig this album. However,I bought this album expecting Adema and got a completely different CD. This album has a cool and interesting sound...but it sounds nothing like Adema.

This album really is very very good. I was apprehensive to buy it knowing that the lead singer had changed. Being a huge fan of the first 3 Adema albums *including the Insomniac's Dream LP* I didn't think I could like Adema without Chavez. But then I heard the 4th track on the album 'Sevenfold' and I was astounded at how good they were. I immediately went and purchased the album. The new vocalist has some amazing talent and the whole album has a very rock/metal feel to it as opposed to the more punk/grunge/metal feel that the older albums had. I highly reccomend this album because I enjoy it a lot, it still makes it into my regular rotation of CDs in my car and that says a lot seeing as I have a collection of 900 or so. The only negative thing I have to say about this is that it doesn't sound like Adema and when I listen to them my first initial thought is 'they should have changed their name' not 'wow this is a great album' I think that bands should changed their names when they get a new lead singer or a new lead guitarist...just because that changes their entire sound. It seems most people on here agree with that.

I have to admit I wasn't thrilled to find out that this album wasn't the Old Adema - Marky Chavez. But their first album was so amazing I figured there had to me more to them than just their lead singer. So I bought the album anyway, and kept telling myself not to expect Adema.

The first time through I heard some promise, but was very disappointed with some of the vocals. Now that i've had a chance to adjust to the change, I actually really like the album. Most of the songs are good to quite good, and a couple are very good (Tornado & Better Living Through Chemistry).

They probably should have changed their name - they are a totally different band - but if they had I never would have bought the album. So in the end, i'm better off because they didn't!

If you're willing to try something new, I recomend this Album. If you're only looking for Chavez, google "Midnight Panic".

Love most of the songs on the CD, I wish there were more that sounded like Immortal. Adema is definately one of my favorite artists.

first off, the song nutshell, is not an adema song. It's an alice in chains song! anybody that thinks that it's an adema song is retarded! And yes they did really did screw it up, it sounds horrible. The the AIC masterpiece is 100x times better. End of story

To be honest, I only started to get into Adema, when I heard Immortal on Mortal Kombat:DA.

Not bad, although Unstable is the better album.

The first 2 or 3 songs on this album are the best, but it gets weird in Adema's own way. My fav song on it is "IMMORTAL" because it rocks harder than any other song besides "Nutshell". I just think they are the best ones. At least in those songs, this band is enjoying themselves and that is pretty nice to hear along with the hard, hard energy of the cd.

The weird thing about it is that Adema were doing things their own way, and yet, that almost makes it better, but it still only deserves 3 stars because of the greatness of the opening of the album. I'd say it gets a B- for it's strong effort with being good. It tried very hard, but didn't quite make it. The closing of the album was my LEAST favorite because it's like they just gave up on the good songs...or something like that. It's hard to explain. I hope this was a little helpful for ya. Hasta Lombego!{or...however you spell that word}.

First off, the debut is clearly their best work. Every song on that is good.

Now, this CD. This is quite nice. I like the acoustic deviation in the third song as compared to the rest of the CD.
The second song has an interesting instrument combo that makes it my favorite on the CD.
The first song is nice; it is my second favorite.
Latter bits of the CD are cool too, like tracks four and five. The radio edit is busted; I'd rather dispose of that.

The composition of the album is a bouncing around of different styles, but that's why this is an EP. Very good overall.

You ever listen to an album and then afterwards you say, "It's good, but it's really no different from any other [genre's name here] album out there"? When it comes to rock, most people would probably say that about emo bands (ask Cartel). But that also seems to be the case with "standard" rock bands too; take Adema, for example. Although their debut album went gold, they haven't had any real hits thus far and they've gone through a number of lead singers. But that doesn't mean they don't make quality material, like their latest album, Kill the Headlights.

Bobby Rivers is the lead singer this time around, and he helps deliver the band through winners like "Waiting for Daylight", "All These Years" and "Black Clouds". Another highlight is the necessary tribute-to-your-hometown, "Los Angeles" -- okay, okay; so they're actually from Bakersfield, but it's close enough. The instrumental prelude is also a highlight, but it should really be called an interlude because preludes are usually at the beginning of the album (or if not that, they precede a song of the same name).

The only song I can do without is "What Doesn't Kill Us" because the chorus really doesn't make any sense ("What doesn't kill us makes us die"?) In the end, Kill the Headlights proves that you should keep the headlights ON because it's worth the purchase.

One has to wonder how many singers Adema will go through before packing it up. On the positive side of things, the group gets more and more melodic with each new vocalist. That's not to say that the group doesn't still drive home some heavy riffs and beats on Kill the Headlights. They also continue to write some of their best songs lyrically. However, the group comes from a time when they were lumped together with other alternative/nu-metal artists.

As time goes on, despite breaking away from that sound, people will still remember them for that. And each time they change vocalists, it will diminish exactly who Adema is and sounds like. It may be better for the group to start back up as something new and fresh and try to sell these songs that way, then trying to ride a name that's slowly starting to represent nothing solid and constant.

Buy it. If you like adema at all you should get this. I was impressed.

To sum up this review for those who can't be bothered to read the whole pointless thing, I will refer to a song that appears on this album by the name of "Brand New Thing." When you pick up Adema's fourth album, are you really getting a brand new thing?

Not really.

Adema's story is a strange one. Making their debut in 2001 with the moderately successful self-titled album, Adema turned heads quickly with their easy to digest nu-metal style and a familiar sounding singer in Jonathan Davis' (Korn) half brother, Marky Chavez. Their sound was like a happy balance between Linkin Park and Korn, but never bothered going any further. In 2003, they followed it up with "Unstable," which proved not only to be a flop, but also the last album to feature Chavez and guitarist Mike Ransom. Down to only three members, Adema recruited the relatively unknown Luke Caraccioli and in 2005, came back with "Planets," and album that marked a departure from the previous sound. More streamlined hard-rock than nu-metal, and a singer who could actually sing! Needless to say, it wasn't really Adema, it didn't really sell, and Luke ditched the band before the year's end. So what are they still doing here?

Not much, really. Although they are more complete and sound more consistent than they have in years, "Kill The Headlights," their fourth album with their third singer, fails to break new ground for the group, just when they desperately need it. Or maybe, they thought, they needed to regain some credibility. Perhaps that's why we get a frontman in Bobby Reeves, who sounds a bit like Chavez and Caraciolli, and a band going through the motions and partying like it's 2001. In all honesty, if you're a fan of the genre, it's a tough album not to like. A bit hollow, yes, but listenable by all means. Reeves has a rather solid voice, and some really bad vocals to boot. The perfect frontman for this band, you could say! Afterall, their music was never much more than sophmoric. So, perhaps, "Kill The Headlights" is as good as it gets. You'll enjoy the first single, "Cold & Jaded," as it is the finest melodic nu-metal we have been given in years, and the other eleven tracks all fall in the same category (a.k.a. sound the same). If you liked Adema before and would like to relive their very brief glory days, this is definitely the album for you. If you are expecting them to grow as a band and change the game, you couldn't be further from home here.

Adema is one of my favorite bands of all time. Their heavy rock/"nu" metal sound is just what Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie, Korn, and Staind fans would like. I first heard (the best song on this CD) "GIVING IN" on MTV(is there anything they don't have?) Ithought "This rocks, but I'll probobly forget about them." I did. But they came on the radio with two songs I had never heard. I then bought the album. If you are a fan of any of the bands mentioned above, you would LOVE this CD.

I just love Adema's debut CD. I think that the best songs are Giving In and The Way You Like It but I like them all. This is a must-have CD.

i've thought about it and there is only two dum songs 6 and 7 but other wise this is a great cd .i personaly like number 4

Ok, so this cd came out and I bought it, not for any of the songs or anything, because I allready have the song "Shattered" from the import album, and well the demo songs, I have on the Adema "3 Class A Demos" tape, that was availble for a short time, overseas to the readers of a famous magazine. The demo songs on the cd howerver are edited, they dont say the bad words, which on the tape I have they do..I know not a big deal, but some people out there are well picky. I would say the video of "Giving In" is well worth the price of the single alone. I gave the cd 4 stars because, it did not include the rumored "roll call" that had the names of the people that voted for the demo songs(2 out of 3 made it on the cd).
