I like that one CD gives you all the great older sounds of Aerosmith, and the other CD contains a lot of their newer hits. I especially like that "Big 10 Inch" is on it! Killer!

This CD is great - it has all the goodies - if you like Aerosmith you will love this double CD!

Every since I watched the movie Armageden, I love Aerosmith. Great group and great songs.

I have been lately resorting and rebuilding my musical collection. I realized i only had a few of Aerosmith's CD's. Not to mention that they are all scratched up and old. This album was a fresh re-look at this legendary band!

i always loved the band's laid back and uplifting guitar rifts. Nice change from all the heavy metal stuff (which i equally enjoy) These guys really get the total harmonics and base guitar sounds balanced with every note... no to mention the solid drumming i hear!

I especially enjoy the fact that this was a remastered copy....oh yes there is a difference in sound! i might strike you a bit of an Audiophile.

I can't listen to allot of my music on iPods and MP3 players. If you are serious about music, any remastered disc will make your sound system really shine...such as this album!

All-in-all Aerosmith fans will appreciate this album.

This is a great Aerosmith 2 cd hits package,cross licencing from different labels gives us a nice career spanning collection!!! Sure a few hits my be missing,but thre's still lotsa great stuff here to enjoy,and most people own the original Columbia Greatest Hits,and Gems colletions,etc anyway Still with its modest shortcomings I still recommend it!!! Oh Yeah!!! A+

Although it came with a cracked case, I didn't have time to return before my husbands b-day, but he loved this and hasn't taken it out of his car since, it's been a long time since we heard a lot of these songs

The CD plays fine but the cd case came broken. No lyrics to the songs.Why Not?

This was the one cd I did not have in my collection. As usual the songs were all GREAT. The sound quality was very good. I have enjoyed listening to this cd many times.

Wanted Aerosmith represented in my collection, but I think the live album might have been a better bet. This one just gathers dust.

Second on the all time greatest Aerosmith albums list to the irrepressable ROCKS, Toys In The Attic saw the boys from Boston take flight and craft one of the all time classics of hard rock.It's most well known tracks are the uber cool "Sweet Emotion" and genre spanning "Walk This Way" which have been enduring radio staples for years. The album tracks are just as good. "No More No More" is a fantastic song detailing life on the road with great instrumentation, arrangement, lyrics and delivery with just a touch of sentimentality that makes the song one of the band's best. The album shows the band acknowledging their influences as well, "Round And Round" is Aerosmith at their absolute heaviest sounding with a thunderous Zeppelin riff while "Adam's Apple" is very Stonesy and would have fit perfectly on Sticky Fingers.The title track leads off the album and is a storming opener with great guitars and that classic repeating chorus "TOYS,TOYS,TOYS...IN THE ATTIC!". A must have for fans of hard rock pick this up with ROCKS today!

OK, so the songs are edited, but what do you expect for the price? You shouldn't pay more than $8 for this CD, and if you end up paying less then you got a great deal. If you're new to the band or if you want the very best of the early stuff then this is a great buy. You get all of their hits and even the last song "Remember (Walking In The Sand)" is not a bad song at all. Everyone reviewing this CD must remember that Columbia Records went for the radio hits and nothing more. Also, this CD was not approved by the band as they were fighting way too much to be involved in this project.

If you have all of the albums after Permanent Vacation, and would like to get familiar with their 70's stuff, then this is a nice introduction to their pre-1980's days.

I was very pleased with the song selection of this cd. The sound was FANTASTIC!!!! I have greatly enjoyed listening to this cd many times.

I'm not a HUGE Aerosmith fan. Their best songs are here, but not all of these songs should be on a best-of. A bigger fan would give this a better rating, probably.

As other reviewers, I would say that some songs are missing (a common problem with any greatest hits) Mama Kin is a good example, but one must admit that the essential is there. This is a good introduction to the band in the seventies, if you like it, go and get all their cd's !

Even though this Aerosmith collection is not comprehensive, I like it, as it has Aerosmith's 70's hits, which in my opinion is the best Aerosmith. I don't think their 80's and beyond work was as good as their 70's output. For me, this works, for someone looking for a more career-spanning disc, look to the other compilations.

Hands-down best effort ever, more consistent than the previous Toys in the Attic. If you were limited to just one of their albums, this would have to be it, no doubt about it. Too many highlights to praise, but since no one else has brought it up, I would like to add that the brief, deep lead guitar intro to "Combination" is downright NASTY! It lasts perhaps 1 or 2 seconds but it really grabs your attention and sets such a tasty tone for the whole cut - a "gem" within a gem of an album. A 70s hard rock icon. Too bad they couldn't squeeze out one or two more similar quality albums before they flamed out

Aerosmith's 1976 album, "Rocks", is just one of those albums you dont come by that often. Its one of those albums you can listen too over and over like, "The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced", "Kiss Alive", and many more albums. Anyways back too the point. Every song on this album rocks and you can listen too it over and over again. The pervious year(1975) Aerosmith realesed another really good album, "Toys In The Attic", containing such classics as, "Walk This Way", and "Sweet Emotion", but Rocks has got too be in least 5 times better than that album. The great album starts off with the coolest intro ever made, "Back In The Saddle", with Steven Tyler screaming, "Im BACK, Back In The Saddle Again". Just killer stuff here and the riff in it is great. Than things start too slow down bit once the insane Back In The Saddle ends and than we get into a slower song, "Last Child", with a cool guitar begining but than gets into this really nice riff thats almost has some elements of rap in it and than yet it ends after a short 3 minutes. Than things start getting faster with the third track, "Rats in the Cellar", which has now become and Aerosmith live staple. It has semi fast drums and guitar and is just one of those songs that you can listen too everyday and not get tired of it, than things stay at the same pace for the fourth track, "Combination", which is the same speed with and even cooler riff during the song and cool vocals also in this song. Than for the fifth track, "Sick As A Dog", It gets into antoher cool riff and slows down from Rats in the Cellar but still maintains the same Aerosmith sound throughout and than it fades into the killer track, "Nobodys Fault", which has probaly the best riff on the whole album and is personally my faviorte on the entire album and just maybe one of my faviorte Aerosmith songs, It features Steven Tyler's screaming vocals and this cool riff that goes through out the whole song and the bass and the drums keep playing that same beat through out than things get a little more mellow with the seventh track, "Get The Lead Out", which is almost like the song, "Big Ten Inch Record", but has that Rocks sound too it, than things start rocking again with the eigth track, "Lick and a Promise", which has a very cool drum intro and than gets into a really great riff and is just rocking hard for 3 minutes long and than like that the ninth track comes on, "Home Tonight", which is a very mellow ballad like its ancestor, "You See Me Crying", on Toys In The Attic, but unlike You See Me Crying still maintains that Aerosmith sound just in a ballad form and than the track fades off and than the album is over. So what are you waiting for buy this album now and when you get it rip it open and than blast on your radio and use it in your car until its very wore out. Buy it today!

Ya gotta hand it to Aerosmith's Rocks (1976). The decadence and debauchery is non-stop, and the Bad Boys from Beantown never even come up for air on this one. This thing rocks harder and faster than anything they have ever done. The themes are mostly about sex and partying, the streets and more sex and partying.

It starts right from the very first song, Back In The Saddle:

I'm calling all the shots tonight
I'm like a loaded gun

Then on the next song, Last Child:

I was the last child
Just a punk in the street

With song titles like Rats In The Cellar, Sick As A Dog and Lick And A Promise, it's easy to see what you're in for here, and Aerosmith delivers the goods. Sex, drugs and rock n' roll! Rocks moves quickly and rocks loudly. The songs strut, roll, burn and scream. Back In The Saddle, Last Child and Rats In The Cellar are as good as anything the band has ever done, and Nobody's Fault is an underrated heavy-metal masterpiece. Metallica's James Hetfield and Slash, formerly of Guns N' Roses, both cite Nobody's Fault as being their favorite Aerosmith song.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry sings lead on Combination, a bluesy hard rock song about the dangers of cocaine and heroin. The guitar riff sounds a little like The Stones' Dancing With Mr. D, only much faster and louder. Home Tonight, the album's closing ballad, isn't quite on the same level as most of Aerosmith's other power ballads, but still works. In some places, Rocks moves too fast a little too long for it's own good. Without the humor that made Toys In The Attic so much fun, the depravity on Rocks can wear a little thin at times, but if you're up for it, this is great stuff.

Rocks showcases Aerosmith at their peak, but I don't think it's actually their best album. It's probably the wildest and most decadent of their albums, and it certainly is one of the best. They reach unparalleled heights of rock n' roll madness, and go to places that they've never been before on this album, so if you're ready to rock, get Aerosmith's Rocks and don't look back.

With the complete success of Toys in the Attic behind them, it's obvious that Aerosmith went into the studio for Rocks with an enormous amount of confidence. The band swaggers and struts its way deliciously through a super strong set of some of their finest, most rockin' compositions. This album came out when I was in high school and pretty much served as the soundtrack to those years of my life. When I went off to college, I got into more "sophisticated" esoteric music and abandoned Aerosmith all together. Now that I'm older, though, I can look back and recognize just how special this album is. Rarely does a band score a bullseye as big as Aerosmith did with Rocks. A true classic of the '70s.

I know AMAZON hates one sentence reviews, but sorry: ROCKS is the only AEROSMITH album that matters. Get me? They peaked here. It ended here. If you don't own and love this album you are NOT an Aerosmith fan. "Back in the Saddle Again" is one of the most heartfelt stabs with smack-down bass and royal riff guitar and throbbing drums you will ever hear. Get.This.Reecord.

"Get Your Wings" was Aerosmith's second album, easily a step up from their debut, and, for my money, superior to the "Toys" or "Rocks" that came after. They weren't MTV fodder yet, they were still militantly "on medication," and the contrariness that ground them to a halt in the early eighties (just as it did, "that band they worked so hard to look like") hadn't even started to take hold yet. Prime stuff, folks: even the obligatory top-40 song here, "Train Kept A'Rolling," was superior to most anything else going down that vile year of 1974. And OK, I'll be selfish, all MY favorite Aerosmith songs are represented here, "Seasons Of Wither"..."Same Old Song And Dance"..."SOS "...especially "Lord Of The Thighs" and "Pandora's Box." Again, Aerosmith would achieve their "breakthru" the next two albums after this - and, yeah, too, they would even go on, that decade, to do that atrocious "Sgt Pepper" movie with the Bee Gees & Billy Preston. (But, hey, "gotta eat," and all that) For my money, Aerosmith peaked right here, pre-MTV, pre-Nat'l Inq'r fodder, pre-"divorces," pre - before they became a walking caricture of themselves, post "Permanant Vacation."

I bought this album (vinyl) when it first came out, just before Toys In The Attic put them on the map, and long before they became a self parody. It has always been my favorite Aerosmith effort by far (though Rocks was close). I've long since passed through "Metal" as a musical preference, and yet, I still play Get Your Wings (digitally, of course) from time to time. There are very few hard rock "albums" from that time period that I can say that about. I'm not sure who would be looking at this now that might be considering buying it for the first time, but if you're out there, this would be the one I'd choose.

In my opinion this is aerosmiths best album. It was released over 30 years ago and still rocks today. There are 8 excellent tracks here-same old song and dance, lord of the thighs, spaced, woman of the world, sos(too bad), seasons of wither, train kepta rollin and pandoras box. Seasons of wither is my favourite song of all time, check out the live version of it on "Rockin the joint", it will blow you away. This album proves that aerosmith are the best rock band in the world. They were when this was released and they still are today. Get this and i gaurantee you wont be disappointed.

I really like this album from Aerosmith. The sound is still fairly raw, but they've improved their song writing over their self titled debut. And Steven Tyler's vocals have improved, as well, over that initial offering. The opener, "Same Old Song and Dance," is a classic, of course, but a number of other tracks really score on this one, including the gritty "Lord of the Thighs" and rockin' "Pandora's Box."

It is a great album there second collection of songs and Same Old Song and Dance - Train Kept a Rollin and Season of Wither are of my favorite songs on here. Train Kept a Rollin is the first time on Aerosmith albums that you got the idea of what they were like live. I had the album now I have the CD. Very good and a must for true fans!

At school, my best friend gives me an album featuring a band I'd never heard of. . .some shaggy-headed guys calling themselves Aerosmith ('Cool name,' I thought). "Take this home and play it," says my friend. "It will blow your mind." So I did.

And it did.

I always enjoy getting to the roots of a band--before commercialization and exploitation virtually ruin it (at the very least, taint it). And Aerosmith's debut album (appropriately called AEROSMITH) has this group at its raw rock 'n roll finest. Perry's riffs in 'Mama Kin' stand the test of time; and what can you say about Tyler's vocals in the ultimate rock ballad, 'Dream On'? The dude has range, doesn't he?

Thirty-plus years ago I was racing home from high school because I couldn't wait to put this album on my stereo (yes, stereo), crank it up, and rock; today I can't wait to put this CD into my player, crank it up, and rock. That's the ultimate test of rock greatness, and Aerosmith's album AEROSMITH is one of rock's finest debut albums.

Firstly Aerosmith is no classic debut and it is not the best Aerosmith album to start off your collection with. The production is thin, the band are uptight (especially noticable in Tyler's vocals).

However, there are nuggets which give us a taste of what a terrific band Aerosmith are to become. There is the rocking classic; Mama Kin and the still golden Dream On. The excellent Somebody rocks your socks off and the Yardbirds influenced One Way Street is first class and you can't stop tapping your foot to Movin Out.

This is not a great album, but is a good one and well worth a listen.

A very strong debut from one of America's longest tenured rock n' roll outfits. Aerosmith plays some straight up rock on this record, that would serve as inspiration to generations of hard rock bands to come after. They haven't reached their song-writing glory days, yet, and Steven Tyler's vocals haven't quite found that fantastic screech, but all the ingredients are here for a great rock band.

This is one of the finest debut albums I have heard and it was my first Aerosmith album. I wore grooves in it and love the guitar play in it and it is my third favorite Aerosmith cd (after Toys and Rocks). It also is worth while to have around in your collections.

Coming off their best two albums, "Draw the Line" released in 1977 is not a complete disappointment. As is the case with most recordings, the ones that follow masterpieces tend to be underrated. The lifestyle that Aerosmith had chosen was beginning to show it's effects on the band creatively but by no means were they done yet.

The CD opens with the riff-roaring "Draw the Line" and the rocking "I Wanna Know Why" before slipping into the average "Critical Mass". "Get it Up" may be one of the funkiest tunes they had done up to this point and the punkish Joe Perry sung "Bright Light Fright" is quite interesting.

The second half opens with the classic "Kings and Queens" and along with the title track represents classic Aerosmith in the best sense. A few average rockers follow, "The Hand That Feeds" and "Sight For Sore Eyes" before closing with the Arnold penned blues of "Milk Cow Blues".

Alhough not quite as good as it's two predecessors ("Toys in the Attic", "Rocks") "Draw the Line" finds Aerosmith running out of breath but still in the race. After this it was all downhill. Newcomers may want to avoid this as an introduction but if you're a fan of classic Aerosmith then this CD sounds GREAT turned up!

If only they could rock this hard today.

First off I must begin this review that this is a good collection to start off with if you do not yet own any previous Aerosmith albums. Admittedly there are other good songs that Aerosmith made that were recorded after this album (such as "don't want to miss a thing"). However as an earlier review posted stated this is a good place to start if you would like to hear some of their 80's and early 90's stuff at a budget price. Some of the songs that I really liked on this cd are "love in an elevator" (9 out of 10),"rag doll" (10 out of 10),"Janie's Got a Gun" (8 out of 10), "Crazy" (9 out of 10), and "Living on the Edge" (10 out of 10). There are various good songs on this cd but for me the songs I just listed are some of the reasons why I still have this cd after first buying this cd when I was stationed in Japan (and the last time I was in Japan was October 2003). There are other collections that now carry a wide variety of the classic Aerosmith hits but this is one of the cd's to get if you are ok with collecting more than one greatest hits collection. In my opinion this cd would be a good primer.

Like the title suggests some of Aerosmith's biggest known revival hits are on this release. I think what should be on any compilation is subjective, but I think the point of this release was to gather a lot of hits in one place. And that they did.

Big Ones is still a good release, and Big Fun to listen to.

Forget the negative reviews. This is a great collection of Aerosmith hits, post the "Sweet Emotion" era. Buy it and replace the ones you don't like with "Sweet Emotions" or "Walk this Way" or whatever.

Three stars for Aerosmith here. 1994's 'Big Ones' is a decent compilation focusing strictly on their MTV-era hits, 1987-1994, a nice, seven-year period.

With songs like 'Dude (Looks Like A Lady),' 'Janie's Got A Gun,' and 'Love In An Elevator' on this compilation, you can't go wrong if you want strictly Aerosmith's "big ones," as in, big ones from 1987-1994.

But, in my humble opinion, the real highlight on 'Big Ones' is the track from the soundtrack of 'Beavis & Butthead Do America,' the hair metal-esque 'Deuces Are Wild.' That song is probably my favorite from Aerosmith's 1987-1994 Geffen Records period.

Still, the reason for the three stars is because this disc seems somewhat unnecessary in 2008. Back in 1994, it probably was a good idea, and it's sold plenty of copies, and believe me, I am NOT criticizing it. But, what I'm saying is, as opposed to this, which offers strictly Geffen years tracks, why not include something from the Columbia/Epic years? Sort of like 'Devil's Got A New Disguise' or perhaps the two disc 'O Yeah!'?

But, this probably is a good idea, because I'm sure there are plenty of Aerosmith fans who are strictly Geffen-era Aerosmith fans who can't stand their Columbia material.

Overall, buy this if you already own 'Gems' or 'Aerosmith's Greatest Hits' and you want a decent follow up to the record. Otherwise, unless you are a devotee of Aerosmith's Geffen years, this can be skipped.

The material is great, but many of the songs here already appear on 'Devil's Got A New Disguise' and 'O Yeah!: Ultimate Aerosmith Hits.' If you haven't bought this already, I strongly suggest you buy those two compilations instead.

Recommended only for the Geffen-era Aerosmith fan or the Aerosmith collector/die-hard fan.

This is one of my favorites, the cd is great, so all I have to say is thank's.

The music industry gimmick in this era of measuring the success of an album due to units shipped - and not sales - makes this 1978 soundtrack appear to be a success, as it did hover for a time in the top ten of the album chart; but it was a staple of cut-out bins for years and a major financial blow to the record label, RSO.

The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton are the featured performers, though there are numerous artists in the 83 minutes of music. Out of the three charted singles on the Billboard Hot 100, Got to Get You Into My Life by Earth, Wind & Fire reached the highest at #9, while Oh! Darling by Robin Gibb peaked at #15 and Get Back by Billy Preston limped in at #86.

The highlights with EW&F are actress Sandy Farina providing an elegant interpretation of Strawberry Field Forever and Aerosmith delivering a sizzling cover of Come Together. But the album sinks due to a greater number of muddling performances like Because by Alice Cooper, Fixing a Hole by George Burns and Maxwell's Silver Hammer by Steve Martin. That Frampton's career as a top recording artist was essentially over may be seen as a bonus by his critics.

On paper, an extravaganza of Beatles music over two albums and featuring some of the monsters of the Billboard charts must have looked like a huge winner. But where EW&F clearly showed the correct musical direction, it was a trail that the project failed to take...and ultimately tanked miserably.

I am a Sgt. Pepper child too. I have the fondest and happiest memories of me going lots of time to the movie theatre to see this flick, conning and tricking every adult that i knew into taking me to see it again. I had the triple casette that was ultimately destroyed by the use and father time. Later I spent month after month monitoring the satellite tv programming hoping that they would have to show the movie again, eventually, which they did more than 10 years later at 4 am. Finally, I got hold of this CD in London in 98. I was soo excited and happy. It sounded great although obviously with a dated 70's sound. The album has some great covers, maybe the best covers of Beatles' songs of all time performed by Aerosmith, EWF, and of course the BeeGees. Peter Frampton vocally was not up to the challenge but his guitar work on almost all the songs he played gave them a unique sound. I am terriblely biased as I loved the movie (which is headed for cult status, just wait and see) and the start of it makes me feel like a kid again, my daughter loves the movie too, and I love the soundtrack, but don't be fooled by all the slamming, it is the work of George Martin and some other great producers, by the same guys that made Saturday Night Fever and Grease to name a few.

I liked this album and the movie. It may not be the best movie ever made, nor was this the best album ever made; however being a fan of the artists who worked on the project I'm a fan. 100%. Yes the movie was cheesy I'll give it that, but who cares.

Personally, I got a kick out of Frampton's face when I asked him to sign my copy of the movie!!! (And YES he's still touring and still KICKS MAJOR @$$ on the guitar!!! The hall of fame honor was long over due!)

But hey, what do I know.... : ) Sure there are people bound to disagree, lets just agree to disagree!

If you love musicals this is a must have! This is one of the best musical movies ever made, and I don't give this kind of praise lightly. The Bee Gees sing Beatles songs better than The Beatles themselves (forgive me, even though The Beatles were musical geniuses, it is true). Even my youngest (at four years old) is fascinated by this movie and regularly requests to watch it. George Burns narrates and takes you on a pleasant nostalgic trip back in time. With the great array of singers (The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Earth Wind and Fire and so many more) you will be singing and dancing along with the whole movie. Then you have the opportunity to try to name all the famous people in the closing song. I bet you can't name them all! Amazing and Highly Recommended. Enjoy this one.

Having seen the movie, and being a Beatle's fan, I can see the animosity of people criticizing both the soundtrack and the film. However, this cover of Beatle's music is no worse than the recent covers done in "Across The Universe". Just remember a cover is a cover. There are some songs that didn't work, but for the most part, the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton did very well. I enjoyed Robin Gibb's cover of "Oh Darling" (which plays the full version on the album, but gets cut in the movie for the scene to work) and George Burns' rendition of "Fixing A Hole" (despite the album's editor editting the final 30 second sequence from the song, the full version is in the movie).

The rest of the album is also outstanding with Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together" and Earth, Wind, & Fire's version of "Got To Get You Into My Life". Billy Preston's cover of "Get Back" is also worth it's weight. I recommend this CD set on it's cover value and it's placement in pop culture history.

While the previous album marked Aerosmith's return to sobriety and reunion as a band, it was lukewarm. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great.

This album rocked. The band pushed its sound out into some new direction, polished its older styles, and rocked its way back towards the top. "Dude looks like a lady" was fun, "Angel" was a great one for slow dancing...even the offbeat tracks were fun to listen to. The album showed that Aerosmith did not take itself too seriously.

Yes Aerosmith is back on the track with this realease. Some say that cats have nine lives, well Aerosmith got two ! This cd marks the beginning of the second era of the band. The band got a lot a airplay with this one (many hits) with songs like Rag Doll, Dude, and Angel, but you'll discover some very good songs like Heart's done time, St-John and The Movie to name a few. I would recommand this release to anyone who loves rock music.

This is a wonderful album. It has been out for a while, but I just got around to getting it. All the songs on here are great. My favorite is "Magic Touch". I wish I would have heard more of these songs on the radio. A big plus is that all the lyrics to the songs are included in the insert booklet. I highly recommend this CD. It didn't get the credit it deserved.

The second album after Joe Perry and Brad Whitford were back with Aerosmith, and the first not "under the influence" is a tour de force rocker that smokes from start to finish. "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)", "Rag Doll", "Hangman Jury" and the title track are all classics and the rest of the tunes all keep the action coming. They also do a great cover of the Beatles' "I'm Down", the B-side of the "Help" single, a typical McCartney tribute to 50's rockers like Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. The "Bad Boys" are back!!!

The first album from the now "sober" Aerosmith and the beginning of their huge comeback that has continued to this day. Some people look at this album as a sell-out due to the influx of outside writers and the general polished sound of the album. Personally I think it rocks. The band sounds rejuvenated and there is a lot of great material to be found on this disc. The album spawned the huge hits "Rag Doll", "Dude Looks Like A Lady", and the lame "Angel". Overall most of the rest of the songs are good to great Aerosmith. "Hangman Jury" is cool. "Girl Keeps Coming Apart" has a nice Joe Perry guitar solo. The title track is a nice rocker and they even throw in an instrumental called "The Movie" which works quite well too. Overall I think this was a great comeback album.
