One of the best gospel CD's ever. And the Amazon price was lower than anywhere else I looked. A must have.

I had happen to catch Mr. Jackson's special about this CD on the country music channel and I couldn't get the CD ordered fast enough. Today's religious/Christian songs are great in their own right and can definitely lift your spirits. But in my opinion nothing beats the old church hymns, they have a way of feeding your soul when you need it most. My Mom is having some health issues right now and I bought the CD for her and she told me she hits play on the CD player at least four or five times a day, she told me the CD brought back a lot of good memories and was very calming to her. This CD was a win/win for me as I love and remember singing the songs sitting next to my Mamaw in church but Alan Jackson's sincere and soothing voice brought the songs into a whole new light for me. I would recommend this CD to young and old, what a great way to introduce the "old songs" to our younger generations. One of my favorite tracks from the CD is Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, in today's world sometimes that's all we can do.

Very special. The arrangements of old hymns are well done and fully emphasize the vocals and lyrics. I am very pleased with the album.

This is not only a great Alan Jackson production, it is a great treasure for those of us who love the "old-timey" Christian music.

I have to say this is one of the best CD'S Alan Jackson has ever made. and since he wrote all the songs said it all. he is one of the best performers we have in country music.

I don't swoon over country music. I've never been one to "whoo hoo" it up during any event that I can remember...

BUT

This Alan Jackson CD is a must. The songs are so upbeat and fun, they're just the thing for a great mood pick up. Before you know it you're feet are tapping and your head is nodding. Great music!

Being a big fan of Alan Jackson, this one is just wonderful, I have all of his CD's but to me this one was so very special and showed me a man that is very humble and cares for many people, natually I enjoyed all the songs but my favorite with this was if course "Sissy's Song", how amazing how his talent can be produce so fast, just as 9/11 he said he could not go to sleep that night and wrote that wonderful song "Where were you when the World stopped Turning", I think at that time what a song that will continue for many years of such as tragic such as this really nice person that they knew so well and how it hurt him for her sudden passing but wrote a song in her honor, Alan, this song must have touched her family along with your's, so talented but I will say this CD is a must. Filled with love and laughter I do highly recommend this, a very talented person.

This cd is just what it promises to be. A fine follow up collection of Alan Jackson's best. I am not a huge country fan, but some artists I do like and follow them. Between this cd and his first greatest hits, I have a fine collection of all of the songs I wanted from AJ

To start off with we are talking Alan Jackson. His music is great. The only thing that would of made it a better cd was if there were more songs.

This is a great collection of some of Alan Jackson's best material. Almost all of the tunes here are worthy of a place on a "best of" collection. Only one or two could be considered "filler". I especially like the thoughtful musical arrangements supporting his material. Jackson really stands out among Country artists in his attention to musical details. This is really a "can't miss" for those who enjoy Country music, with appeal for pop fans as well.

I bet this guy will come out with a greatest hits 3, maybe even GH4 before he is done. He just knows how to write songs.

I have all the music of Alan Jackson (my favorite). He has one of the most soothing and sexy singing voices.

Alan Jackson is always a five star. If you are a Jackson fan you will love this one. I have never heard anything by Alan Jackson that I didn't like. Buy this by all means.

Alan Jackson is a true country singer who sticks to traditional country songs. This album features many of those songs such as "Midnight in Montgomery," "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," "Don't Rock the Jukebox," and "Tall Tall Trees." It features a very impressive collection of songs that will go down as some of the greatest ever recorded. I rank this as one of my favorite albums, and I'm glad I got it. AJ is truly a great singer. If you can find this album, get it!

Not a lot to say, only if i am feeling blue, I play this album and it does wonders.
I would love to hear this as a SACD or DVD-Audio.

There's not much I can add to the other 5-star reviews. These 3 guys clearly had one fine time doing this concert and it comes across in spades. The music constantly puts a smile on my face, and I'm sure that anyone who likes any of these 3 great stars will feel the same way. Highly recommended!

I've been a fan of Jimmy Buffett most of my life, and George Strait for about the same, and grew to like Alan after Five O'clock.

This is a great CD if you enjoy these musicians. "Murder On Music Row" is a good old fashioned sounding country song and makes references I don't get to the business, but I understand the context.

"All My Ex's Live In Texas"...ah yes. Great song, and more fun with Buffett adding some spice to it. Great version.

"Sea Of Heartbreak" An undiscovered classic from Buffett. He knows its a good song, I know it is, and you will when you hear it.

"Margaritaville", "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere"....these had to be on there, and It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere is better live like this. Actually its better if you're in the arena...

A lot of good music, the show is very energetic and the songs fit together well. I highly recommend this disc.

What can I say about Alan Jackson that hasn't already been said. He is a great performer.

Cowboys in the Jungle. Now I know what Jimmy meant. I am a long time Parrothead so it was natural for me to pick up this CD. Really do enjoy the music - just a fun CD. I recommend it!

Someone said Alan Jackson is a money grabbin' freak ya right. meet him in person and you'll have a totally different view of the man.

Anyway now on too my review. In my view this is alans best album. Everyone can almost connect to every song on this CD especially "Where Were You" and "Drive" Those too songs rocketed this album too the top of his list. You can say Alan jackson took a shot in the dark and hit a bullseye with this album. Two words too some up this album "Amazing Performance".

Alan Jackson is a great country singer, as well as a genuine, clever, and simple songwriter. He uses all of his best assets on 'Drive'. The familiar material is accomplished, but the less familiar is often even better. The title song, one of his most particular and personal since "Chatahoochee," weaves enough images to transport the listener through his memories. It is substantial in heart and melody. But newer memories come through on "Where Were You (When the World Stopped)". Here he evokes images tenderly, knowing he hardly needs to be "Shockin' us all" any further. He covers all of the bases of our 9/11 experience, and then invites us to be healed and to continue to love one another. It is a fine, uplifting song. Alan Jackson doesn't just heal and drudge up memories, though. He has some country songs on this album that seem so classic, one sometimes thinks they're remakes. His lyrics (more than half of them written or co-written by him) are as clever as "an all-American country boy," can be. The titles tell most of his story: "Designated Drinker," "I Slipped and Fell in Love," and "A Work in Progress," yet they have simple, but savvy phrasing. The first song is a duet with George Strait, a partnership that shows despite all the hot new country, Alan Jackson is mostly a loyal traditionalist. This is true on most of the songs, especially "That'd Be Alright," a whimsical and playful number perfect for the radio. And "Once in a Lifetime Love" is his own ballad alternative that should fit the listener like an old pair of soft jeans. For variety's sake he adds the excellent, upbeat, blues-flavored "First Love," and "The Sounds" delivers a good, solid ballad with fine piano accompaniment.

Many fans are undoubtedly tempted to get Alan Jackson's collections like his "...Greatest Hits, Vol. II," but this C.D. is worthy enough to buy first hand. (The '...Hits...' album should be gravy on the grits.) This album is put together well, and the songs, if anything, seem to get better as the songs move along (unlike his classic 'Who I Am' which is strong, but starts to wane somewhat on the second half). The musicianship is often intricate and accomplished, and, of course, Jackson has one of the best voices in country music. He takes country themes are is able to express himself in a new and colorful way that doesn't lose his audience.

"Money Grubbing Freak?" "Blood Money?" Wow, I didn't know it was wrong to pay tribute to the fallen after a significant human tragedy. Should I also be angry at all those who pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy? How about songs dedicated to soldiers lost in war? Elvis? Lennon? Princess Di?

Actually, many of us with human feelings remember exactly what we doing when JFK and Ronald Reagan were shot, when the space shuttle exploded, and when we first saw images of the WTC on fire. For many of us, Jackson's tribute expressed the feelings of loss and helplessness. It is a beautifully crafted and performed song. Of course, if you prefer lyrics limited to drugs and bootys, this is America.

My favorite song on the record is "Drive." It takes me back to my childhood when my grandfather used to let us grandkids drive the old pick-up while the men would toss the bales of hay onto the truckbed. I remember the jubilant feeling of this rite of passage and this song always takes me back, and makes me excited to teach my baby girl to drive. The music is cheerful and addictive and perfectly matches the delightful lyrics. It is nearly impossible not to start singing along.

Also notable are "Work In Progress" and "That'd Be Alright." One sign of a good song is that you will catch yourself singing or humming it frequently. Several years after purchasing the CD, I still find myself singing these songs.

The duet with George Strait is good, but a bit routine, as are a few other cuts.

I was tempted to rate "Drive" 5 stars, but this is an exceptional, not perfect recording. Fans of Jackson will find him at his best, and will be be very pleased. Others with open minds may also enjoy the record, although Jackson does keep it country, without trying to appease the masses. There is not a single filler or skip over track, although the quality of the material does vary.

This CD is truly Alan Jackson at his best. With the two best songs of his career, "Drive" and "Where were you (when the world stopped turning)", you will not be disappointed with this CD.

Every song on the CD, though, is very good. Alan Jackson sticks to the roots of country, and any country fan would appreciate this.

"Drive" is a song about his father, which Alan Jackson wrote after he died. It is about his father teaching Alan to drive, from a boat to a Ford pickup, to a Jeep. "Where were you" was written after 9/11 and is the song that made Alan famous. The CD has the studio version and the live version.

Some of the songs on this CD are really fun, like "Work in progress" and "I slipped and fell in love". Others are more serious, but they are all good and great to listen to. You will enjoy this CD immensely.

It has only one or two good songs on it. I know he wanted to try something new but he needs to stick with true country music. Like his lastest cd "Good Times'"

This is by far my favorite album of 2006. It is subtle album, but that just means it needs to resonate in you for a while. Listen to it quitely and you will appreciate its mood.

This CD was excellent and pure. I admit it was not what I was expecting from AJ--but the more I listened, the more I fell in love with this album. Alan Jackson departs from primarily using guitar--replacing it with rich and amazing piano accompaniment--It adds a different dimension to the music. Simply put, this is one of the best country blues accomplishments in recent memory. Isn't it amazing how we don't expect artist's to mature and grow as they record new albums? For those who do not appreciate this album, go back to your old CDs or spend your time and money listening to country cover bands at your local honky-tonk; better yet, stick to one of those "cookie cutter" country artists like Rascal Flatts. AJ is an excellent musician who deserves to grow. This is a very mature and excellent album by Alan Jackson and it deserves to be listened to--again and again.

I should've listened to cuts from this cd before buying it at the store,but I've always liked Alan's songs, so I figured this would be a good cd also, like many of his others.Sorry to say, but, I'm very disappointed with this one.It is a very bluesey and slow moving bunch of songs, none of which were really that good at all.It would be easy to pass this one up, if I had heard some sample cuts.To me, this is not the Alan Jackson that I expected.

This had to be the most depressing, slow singing cd I've ever heard by Alan Jackson. There isn't even a quick song on the whole recording to pep things up. It's a chore to listen and brings my spirits down. It's as if he recorded this cd in a very low point of his life. Very disappointing. I'll definitely be checking the recordings before I purchase blindly again, which was never an issue with his music before.

Most of Alan Jackson's albums include a lot of original songs with the occasional cover. This album is different, entirely focusing on covers. This gave Alan the chance to illustrate some of his musical influences, including Merle Haggard (My own kind of hat, The way I am), John Anderson (She just started liking cheating songs), Hank Williams Junior (The blues man), Gene Watson (Farewell party), Don Williams (It must be love) Charley Pride (Kiss an angel good morning) and George Jones (Revenooer man, Once you've had the best).

Right in the palm of your hand was originally recorded by Crystal Gayle and later covered by Mel Mc Daniel. It is Mel who gets Alan's credit - no mention is made in his comments about Crystal. The most surprising inclusions here are Pop atop (Jim Ed Brown) and Margarittaville (Jimmy Buffett), this last being a duet with Jimmy.

Alan does not attempt to do anything different with the songs - they sound just how you would expect them to sound. He never expected this album to be a big seller, but wanted to show his fans where his roots lay. The results far exceeded expectations, partly because none of the songs have been over-recorded.

This is not the best place to begin an Alan Jackson collection, but it is a very enjoyable album. Actually, I have most of Alan's albums and they are all excellent.

As close as sex, drugs, and rock & roll is to rock, country's theme of livin' lovin' and leavin' has to include "honky tonkin' drinkin" songs. Jackson didn't intend for this collection to be a string of old hits.

These honky tonk ballads are songs that meant something to him growing up, he liked them or he sang them in his career before he was making records. He doesn't try to make these "his own songs", he just wants to sing them. But with Jackson's solid country style and his deep voice, some of the lesser known tunes come across so close to his style it is impossible to relate them as someone elses.

A surprise closing number is "Margaritaville" sharing vocals with the special non-country guest Jimmy Buffet (vocal were done separately.)

The other recognizable song is "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" by Charley Pride. "Farewell Party" by a sad, Gene Watson song about a man who asks his love to at least pretend to love him when he departs this world. If you haven't heard Gene Watson sing this maudlin ballad, please give it a try.

The 1967 booze ballad, "Pop a Top", which is a faster tune complete with the sound effect of a "beer can popping". Aside from Hank Williams, George Jones another favorite of Jackson's. Two song of Jones are here and an autobiographical song of Hank Williams about one of his wives.

An upbeat song that Alan has sung a lot is "She Just Started Liking Cheatin' Songs." John Anderson's good honky-tonker, great club song reminded Jackson of those days. "It Must Be Love" another single from the CD is written by a personal favorite song writer of Alan Jackson's Bob McDill. Almost every CD of Jackson's has something written by Bob McDill.

As always, here is another fabulous CD by a true country honky tonk performer. Alan Jackson has always done wonderful work. Every CD he puts out is quality, top notch.

Under The Influence was the first Alan Jackson album I purchased. This is one record where I liked every song--and I think that the songs here are ones that you will like hearing. "Pop A Top" opens the album and was the initial single. I hardly ever heard Jim Ed Brown's original version when I was growing up because I didn't grow up listening to country music. However, after catching the country music "bug" years ago and getting acquainted with the song, I started liking it a lot. On this record, Alan does "Pop A Top" as well as, if not better than, Jim Ed did. Among the other classic songs that Alan covers here are "Farewell Party", the '70s hit by Gene Watson; "Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'", Charley Pride's signature song; Hank Williams Jr.'s haunting autobiographical song "The Blues Man"; the great Merle Haggard song "The Way I Am"; "It Must Be Love", Don Williams' upbeat hit from '79; and a 1980 John Anderson hit, "She Just Started Liking Cheatin' Songs". However, even though I like all the tunes here, I think that this record's highlight is "Margaritaville". Jimmy Buffett's 1977 version, which was a Top 10 pop hit, is great, but so is Alan's 1999 version--on which Jimmy, the writer, duets with Alan. This collection is definitely a five-star album.

Alan Jackson is truly one of the best new country singers around. I enjoyed his version of all of these songs. He actually sings them better than the original singers, Farewell Party and Kiss An Angel Good Morning are so well done. I hope he comes out with another CD of this kind.

A truly amazing collection of legendary country music performed by a future legend . Alan Jackson will be labeled a legend in the future such as Cash,Jones,Haggard,Nelson,and Twitty are labeled as legends today. Good Stuff!!

I really don't know why there is so many bad reviews on this one. This is a pretty consistent sounding cd. A few of the songs that I didn't like at first have grown on me. Examples are "There Ya Go", "You Don't Have To Paint Me A Picture." These both could have been radio worthy. I think these are better than Tracy Lawrence's "Paint Me A Birmingham."

Alan really doesn't have great albums; but this one is worth buying. I like the songs on this album better than the songs on "Drive", "High Mileage", and "Somebody Loves You." I have "Everything I Love." It has some hit makers such as: "A House With No Curtains, "A Walk On The Rocks","Between The Devil And Me", and of course "Little Bitty."

Really all of the songs are listenable on "What I Do." I even like "The Talkin Song Repair Blues." Maybe the only one I don't like is "Strong Enough." My favorite is "Monday Morning Church" with Patty Loveless. I agree with one of the reviewers that this song alone makes this album worth buying. "If Love Was A River" is a beautiful tune as well! "If French Fries Were Fat Free" is a cute song. Alan Jackson is the only one that can bring a song like this to life. Tim McGraw has a song about french fries; and I can't stand it. I believe it's "Do You Want Fries With That." Sorry no way!

Love this album. I highly recommend it! Go get your copy. It is reasonably priced and worth every penny!!!

What I Do - and Alan Jackson does it so well. This is an outstanding country CD. I really like the song selections for this CD. The music will touch your heart, lift your spirit, make you laugh, help you cry, and make you count your blessings. "If Love Was A River" and "Monday Morning Church" are worth the price of the CD. Only in country music will you find a song like "If French Fries Were Fat Free." And only Alan Jackson will make it a "hit" song. I highly recommend this CD. What else can I say? It's Alan Jackson, it's real country music and it's worth every penny you pay for it.

Who wrote the songs on this one? Weird Al Yankovick? "If French Fries Were Fat Free?"? "U.S.A. Today"? Really? Maybe he's been spending too much time drinking with Mr. Buffet and this is having a negative impact on his song-writing.

My advice to people is to hear this album first before you go out and spend money on it. If you don't have Jackson's "Drive" or "High Mileage", get these albums first. "Under The Influence" is a good album worth buying if you like really traditional country.

This one merits 2 stars for the pretty good track "To Do What I Do"

I think I've worn out the CD already by playing it over and over! I really enjoy it and like just about all of the songs on the CD.

Everytime I buy an Alan Jackson CD, I am happy. This one does not disappoint. The sole reason I bought this CD was for "The Talkin' Song Repair Blues" and when I listened to the rest of the CD, there are several AWESOME songs on here. I would definitely recommend this CD.
