The CD is great (previously ordered 27). The most recent order is B-A-D -- what a disappointment! I requested ONE-DAY-SHIPPING and was charged $115.72 and delivery was to be Friday, Dec 12. I did NOT receive the order Friday the 12th or Saturday the 13th. It remains to be seen whether I will receive the CDs Monday the 15th. Regardless, this is a far cry from ONE-DAY-SHIPPING. My previous experiences with Amazon have always been good. This, however, is bad and I have paid handsomely for service I DID NOT RECEIVE. Consider me an UNHAPPY CUSTOMER! David Byers.

We attended this concert in person though we had never heard of Sissel beforehand. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert is always worth seeing, but Sissel's angelic voice put it out of this world. The CD is my favorite holiday CD by far. Do not miss this CD for the world!

the mormon tabernacle choir and orchestra perform weel and sing xmas songs you won-t hears elsewhere but the addition of sissel as solist in some classic and typic nordic xmas carols make the product an absolue MUST try hearing "mitt hjærte alltid vanker" or the danish song celebrating the pureness of the snow and you will understand what i mean : what a VOICE she has !!![she makes fables even of gregorian songs ]

I love the Mormon Tabernacle CHOIR, and think this is one of their best CD's yet. I love the arrangments by Mack Wilberg, he is the KING of sacred music arrangments...love Sissel's voice, love that Shane Warby got a spot too...great CD captivating...especially love track #2 Wexford Carol...fantastic. LOVE IT!

These are wonderfully recorded songs from a content standpoint as well as sonically; the CD was up for a Grammy in the latter category. There are a familiar Christmas songs in beautiful arrangments including a definitive "Silent Night," and great Norweigan songs sung by Sissel that provide a scandinavian glimpse of the holidays.

This is a must have. It's like the history of music from the 1950's to the 80's. Great songs! i highly recommend this cd!

I ordered this item for my sister who just loves the Forrest Gump movie. She was looking around for the soundtrack because she enjoyed the music in the movie alot. She was very pleased with this item.

The soundtrack to the movie Forrest Gump gives us an excellent assortment of American hits that cannot be ignored; they're all THAT good. The quality of the sound is excellent; and the artwork is very tastefully done.

The track set starts off with none other than Elvis Presley singing and belting out his famous number, "Hound Dog." The guitar work and drums work well; but Elvis' voice carries this number and the backup vocalists are great! "(I Don't Know Why) But I Do" by Clarence 'Frogman' Henry registers huge on this scale; this gets the royal treatment and it fits perfectly with so much of the other music on this album. Similarly "Walk Right In" by The Rooftop Singers has an infectiously happy melody to it; and this is an excellent example of 1960s folk music. Moreover, "Blowin' In The Wind" by Joan Baez sparkles as if it were still fresh and new today--it's that much of a classic. Excellent!

"I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" features The Four Tops singing their hearts out; and it all works very well. "Respect by Aretha Franklin is easily one of my favorites on this two CD set; it's awesome and it's easily a major highlight of this two CD set.

"California Dreamin'," of course, features The Mamas and The Papas; this song inspired so many young people in the 1960s to journey to California in search of inner peace and a better quality of life. "Mrs. Robinson" is equally bright when Simon & Garfunkel sing it; they harmonize perfectly and their guitar work is mighty fine!

"San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)" by Scott Mackenzie really sounds great as it ever did; Scott's melody is really very pretty and I enjoy this number very much. "Aquarius" and "Let The Sun Shine In" by The Fifth Dimension are hauntingly beautiful and instantly memorable, too.

"Joy To The World" is a number by Three Dog Night that really strikes me as very passionate; and listen for "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." B. J. Thomas sings this passionately with great sensitivity; and it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! What a great soundtrack this is! "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd really rocks well with a fine country twist; Lynyrd Skynyrd could really rock out a tune!

"I've Got To Use My Imagination" is a fiery ballad by Gladys Knight & the Pips that really tugs at my heartstrings whenever I hear it; and there's also "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson.

Overall, the soundtrack to Forrest Gump gives us so much Americana music it's hard to ignore this two CD set. I recommend this CD set for fans of the movie Forrest Gump and people who enjoy some oldies mixed in with classic pop vocals.

What a mistake. I heard the Forest Gump Suite and it was pretty. The CD is a compilation of old radio music, My fault, should have paid attention to the listed contents

If you ever saw the Forrest Gump movie and loved the music playing you will love this soundtrack. All of the different musical eras that were portrayed in the movie were classics.

One of the CD's I love to listen to over and over again. One song in particular is so steamy hot that I feel like taking a cold shower after I listen to it. Another song makes me long for a quiet romantic evening alone with the perfect man.

Really a great movie! Saw it years ago when it first came out, and saw most of it on TV and had to buy it. It's one to watch more than once!

liked some of the songs - Shawn Colvin's in particular. Would have liked it ALOT more if it included the musical score at least once, instead of some (alot) of the filler that I don't recall hearing when I viewed the film!

I know this is an older cd now, but I came across it again when I was cleaning out my cupboard. It's from one of my favourite movies ever. It's got some excellent songs on it, but I dropped a star from the ratings because it's missing a piece or two (especially the music where Jonathan is reading his obiturary). But I was so estatic that it had the beautiful song by Annie Lennox called Waiting in Vain. That had me hooked when I first saw the movie at the theatre. Also the next best song is when Jonathan was finally given the book he'd been looking for for so long by his fiance. It's called When You Know by Shawn Colvin. This cd is a little eclectic and it has something for everyone. You should listen to this cd; you'll love it.

I have Sylvestri's score which is wonderful, but I was missing Marvin Berry's Earth Angel and Night Train from the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. How fun it is to have them now.

My older brother had this tape back when it came out. We really loved all the movies as well as the songs in them. I have heard the Huey Lewis songs and the theme songs a million times, but I forgot all about the "buried treasure". I remember hearing "time bomb town" very briefly in the scene where marty's alarm goes off. I always thought it sounded like a weird song and never payed attention to it. Fast forward to 2007. I came across this soundtrack and "Time Bomb Town" blew me away. You may know Lindsey Buckingham as the guy in Fleetwood Mac, but he has some great solo stuff including "Holiday Road" from "National Lampoon's Vacation" Soundtrack from 1980 (another classic!) Anyway, I have been listning to "Time Bomb Town" non-stop for the last week, it is my favorite song at the moment and one of his best(including Fleetwood-Mac). It sounds very fresh, for being over 20 years old, and in my opinion is the best song on this soundtrack. CHECK IT OUT!

As a hugh fan of the "Back to the future" movies, I was very excited to receive this soundtrack. Unfortunatly, this soundtrack suffer from a lack of very important songs, that are very much remembered and loved.
Songs like "Mr. Sandman", that symbols the enter of Marty Mcfly to the 50's. I love this song and he is one of the reasons I bought this CD.
Also, other versions of the main theme of the movie, that appears on the movie, are missing from CD. this is most unfortunate...

I've been a Bon Jovi fan since 1986 I think, but when I heard this album I was just blown away. This is not only my favorite Jon Bon Jovi album, but one of my all time favorites. I know Jon was inspired by the film in the first place but he just went so beyond that. I was living in the States when this songs became the soundtrack of everything that was going on with my life back then. The lyrics are very deep and can be applied to many situations in life, not just old western movies. Jon's singing is also one of the highest in his career, and you know he has very high standards. Each and every song on this record is so relevant and well written, it is just unbelievable that all of them fit so well in a whole package. Billy get your guns is a rocker that puts you in the right mood to listen to Miracle, I felt Jon captured a latin feel with this one, something that was not really expected. Blaze Of Glory, what else can be said? if you can't be touched by this one, you are probably dead already, The guitar solo is so perfect, Jeff Beck did an amazing job on this one (and the rest of the songs too), I mean, I love Richie Sambora, but he cannot top this solo on his performances with the band, Beck is a master and every note he plays goes so perfect with the song, he captured exactly what Jon was talking about. I think a lot of people over look the great contributions that the artists that played on this record did to the production. I mean, Jeff Beck's work on this one is huge, his tone and style make every song reach a whole new level, I love Beck's solo work, but when his great guitar talent is mixed with Jon Bon Jovi's singin and songwriting, it fires up a real magic that will last forever.
Blood money is a certain choice to play when you feel alone sitting on a mountain or something like that, it is a beautiful song and the lyrics are so powerful.
Santa Fe, I think words can't say enough about how I feel when I listen to this song, I think this is one of the greatest songs ever written, and that is a lot!! The lyrics are profound, meaninful and touching, and the melody, the singing, the arrangements, everything is just perfect on this song. I think Jon Bon Jovi will never be able to top this one because it just can't be better, there are just a few songs that you can say that have all the parts fitting perfectly, emotion, performance, lyrics, everything. I just can say no more about how great this song is.
Justice in a barrel is one of my favorites too, watch out that Jeff Beck solo, it starts on acoustic guitar and then goes electric with his classic tone, I just can't get enough of this.
To sum it up this is a record that you never get tired to listen too, and when you listen to it carefully it gets inside your feelings like no other. It is a shame that even Jon Bon Jovi seems to have forgotten this record, well, he's done some amazing job after this, but he hasn't achieved this level of greatness. There is a time in every songwriter's life that the light of music touches him or her very deep and achieves music heaven, I think Jon really did it with this one, it is too bad that this light don't shine the same way twice.

Thought Jon Bongiovi could have been more creative in his melodies and songwriting with this compilation.

Stripped down a bit, a lot more "earthy," Jon Bon Jovi's "Young Guns II" album is a nice breakaway from his efforts with the band that bears his name. Fans of Bon Jovi, however, will find plenty to enjoy in this album. For starters, the raucous "You Really Got Me Now," has an excellent "jam session" feel to it. "Miracle" and "Never Say Die" give the listener a light dose of what made Bon Jovi tunes like "Born To Be My Baby" so much fun to listen to. Then there are tunes like "Blood Money" and "Bang A Drum" that herald the coming Americana sound that Bon Jovi would play more of with their later albums.

Last but certainly not least, "Blaze of Glory" sounds like a hairband tune soaked in whiskey and left out over night. It's the highlight track on the album and it alone makes this one worthy of purchase. Also included is Alan Silvestri's "Guano City," a passable track from the score of the film.

Overall, this is definitely a keeper for fans of Bon Jovi or anybody who enjoys grittier rock. Recommended.

As the soundtrack to a movie that bombed badly you could be forgiven for dismissing this Jon Bon Jovi solo effort but it would be wrong to consign it to the scrapheap without giving it a listen if you've ever had a soft spot for his day job band Bon Jovi.

Released initially in 1990 and produced by the main man himself and Danny Kortchmar to good effect the albums eleven tracks are all within the confines of the projects brief - ie they are all country tinged to a greater or lesser degree. Most people who were anywhere near a radio in the Western world around 1990 will be familiar with this albums resident hit single and title track Blaze of Glory. And it's probably fair to say that this song is the high point of the record as it has a good chorus, simple yet effective construction and some emotion. It's also pretty much the most hard rockin' number on the entire album.

Some of the songs miss the mark badly such as the utterly plastic and fake sounding Bang A Drum and the last track, Guano City, is mercifully only one minute long. Some other tracks however do work to a reasonable degree such as lead cut Billy Get Your Guns and there is some genuine maudlin emotion on songs such as Dyin' Ain't Much of A Livin'. Blood Money tries to work a similar done-me-wrong emotion but falls pretty flat while most of the other tunes blend in with the wallpaper fairly quickly.

Jons' familiar voice tends to walk by your side throughout this release, it really does come across as very much a solo effort though anoraks might want to know that such luminaries as Jeff Beck, Elton John and Aldo Nova do turn up on the album in places and the booklet includes the lyrics to the whole shebang. Mind you, once you open out the booklet the side opposite to that with the lyrics has a full size picture of Jon - wow, just what I always wanted!

All jokes aside my advice overall is that if you are a Bon Jovi fan and don't have this yet then definitely get it as you'll find a few gems here. And given the directions Bon Jovi have gone over years the country tinge to this album makes perfect sense in hindsight.

you would have to buy dozens of individual soundtracks to include even some of the music here. slight adjustment to john williams (for example) originals but well performed. outstanding variety. use these cds to jump start your day with triumph!

I absolutely love this collection. It certainly matches its title. I use some of the music in workshops for movement and everyone has a great time moving through Goldfinger, Indiana Jones, Pink Panther, and the Stormtroopers! Hearing the Titanic hit the ice is bone chilling. It's a great compilation. Thank you!

This music is a multi-CD pack that includes only instrumental music. I am a person who really likes this type of music. Many different movie music themes are included in this set including: mission impossible, Titanic, Superman, and others. Eric Kunzel is the main author of this collection but many others are also showcased. I highly recommend this set.

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra led by Erich Kunzel has recorded some of the best orchestral versions of film scores. This is indeed the ultimate collection and a good starting point to explore the many albums from epic soundtracks to gentle love themes; great silver screen classics to modern award winners.

This collection of movie themes, will allow you to relive the chilling experiences from practically all (4 CDs)of the great movies. Great movies would not be great without great music. The Cincinnati Pop with Eric Kunzel are unbeatable recordings. Every minute is more beautiful and inspiring to the next. If you love Pops music, this is the begin all, end all.

The namesake for this CD, Cast Away - is an all-time personal favorite movie. Every time I watch the movie and hear that beautiful music at the end...the piece captures the loneliness, the fear, the longing, and four years of being alone.

The music associated with the end credits of Cast-Away is some of the best I have ever heard. To clarify erroneous info from previous reviewers, the cut on this CD is EXACTLY the same as the end-credit piece on the DVD. The sound-effects of the wind and waves, interspersed with POWERFUL (emotional) cords is what is heard during the end-credits.

This CD is a compilation of music from many Silvestri (amazing composer) movies. The other pieces are classic Alan Silvestri - "One hears that music, and what can one say...but 'Silvestri'". (Mozart..from Amadeus)

The purchase price is well worth this amazing music.

Don't waste your money. Soundtracks you don't want, and nothing much from Cast Away.

The audio CD, Cast Away from the film of Robert Zemeckis shows the image of Tom Hanks in the movie Cast Away leading me to expect the CD was all from the Cast Away movie. There is only one song from the Cast Away movie. I am very disappointed in the purchase.

I bought this CD for just one song - Cast Away, played during the credits at the end of the movie. What makes the song remarkable is the fact that it captured the premise of the movie so well. Chuck Noland, the character played by Tom Hanks, lived alone on an island, far away from any civilization. Listen... what do you hear? Do you hear the ocean? For four long years, all Chuck Noland heard was the ocean. The sound of the sea was his wake up music in the morning, his evening symphony and his lullaby at night. The waves roll out, the waves roll in. Always ebbing, always there, with no other sound. Alan Silvestri captured Chuck Noland's two worlds, the world we live in and the world cast away, surrounded by just the sea and the never-ending sound of surf. To merge those two separate worlds into one brilliant composition took a master composer. I am not disappointed I bought this CD for just one song.

The score to Cast Away is one of my favorites - right up there with Ennio Morricone's underrated instrumentals for "Once Upon a Time in America" - and it's a real shame that, apparently, the only album with music from the film is this compilation disc which doesn't even feature the full soundtrack. Luckily I got my hands on an Academy Awards advance album preview for Cast Away - the CD that Universal sent to the Academy Awards crew for Oscar consideration - and it has six beautiful tracks. But I know there are more out there and I think it's time the full soundtrack was released.

I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

This collection is bound to capture your heart and evoke a tin ear on successive tracks. I found much to like and some duds - easy to skip over.

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

I have been listening to great scores for many years and this collection is truly inspirational in so far as the choice of different scores takes you on a journey of listening pleasure matched by only a few collections.The price is incredibly reasonable for hours of listening pleasure. Don't pass this one up

The strength of "Father of The Bride" comes from its master blending of emotional themes and intelligent comedy. The music from the film helps create that effect, perfectly suiting whatever mood the filmmakers were intending to convey.

The track "Just The Way You Look Tonight" (played in the film when Steve Martin's character reminisces about his relationship with his daughter) is nearly worth this CD's price alone, as it personifies the most touching moment of the entire movie.

So, if you enjoyed the film, pick up this complementary piece of the magic that helped make the movie so great.

Some people cannot conceive an orchestral soundtrack: a movie SCORE. So if there are no vocals (no songs) then it's no good. They call it "background" music. Well, it's their loss that they don't know how to really listen. But to dare give a good CD a bad review, well, that's kind of an unjust tragedy. After all, isn't a soundtrack suppose to give you the nostalgic feeling of the movie without having to watch it?
So, to those people who can only conceive a movie with "songs" I would recommend to buy a Steve Tyrell's CD [ASIN:B00001QEOK A New Standard]] it has all (great) songs and includes the ones from the "Bride" movies. Meanwhile, let us, "symphonic weirdos", enjoy beautiful brackground music tracks. Cheers!

I love this CD. Alan Silvestri's music is joyful. Product and delivery were great.

If this score were a bit deeper, and around 25 minutes longer, it would be a classic in it's genre. As it stands, it is a very good, (short) companion to a book and a cup of coffee, or perhaps an evening drive.

Some of the songs are jazzy and smooth, others are up tempo and remind one strongly of a Christophe Beck or John Debney score. I definately reccomend giving this a listen, (if only it were longer...)

Any of the negative comments on here are absolutely ludicrous! This is a beautiful film and an even more wonderful soundtrack! Of course the music is mostly instrumental, it's a SOUNDtrack, as in the sounds from the movie, if you prefer words buy a pop CD. This film is one of the best wedding films of all time portraying the love of a family and how close their ties are through the wonderful occasion of a wedding and the music does nothing but tie in every emotion and sentiment perfectly, making it all the more heart warming. I first saw this movie as a little girl and something as miniscule as a few notes from this beautiful soundtrack still have a power that melts my heart. I can't wait to utilize it someday in my own wedding as I have recently gotten engaged and if you are looking for something to evoke all those emotions I highly suggest purchasing this SOUNDtrack!
