What a wonderful CD. I absolutely adore Amy Winehouse's voice. Her songs have so much meaning (although a bit brutal at times...hmmmm like life is I guess). If you love jazz, then you will LOVE this CD. I cannot wait until she writes more songs. All of her songs are so heartfelt...you can almost FEEL the pain and emotion coming from her. You will NOT be sorry when you purchase her songs and her DVD "Live from London".

There's no hiding the anguish Amy Winehouse must suffer as evidenced in most the music on this album. Brilliant lyrics and a mature powerful voice. I have the earworm problem after listening, can't get her music and lyrics out of my head. I hope she lives long enough to explore and expand her talent. She's so young, she should have at least a decade left to create, but the drug thing....it's a crap shoot. Oh, I love her music by the way.

Only three real good songs on this record, but we`ve heard them all before. This is nothing new, the entire record is kind of a Motown soul replica, and could have been made back in the early 70`s.

Amy has a cool voice though, and the lyrics aren`t too bad, but the production quality is so unimaginably crappy you couldn`t believe it. The bass are boomy, there are distortions in Amy`s voice, and the arrangements all over are poor and monotonous. Therefore it gets more and more boring to listen to this record after a while. The production crew should have been punished for this.. Better luck next time!

Amy's first CD is still great, may the best of the few she has released.

I like her soulful trashy, gypsy sound. Like a drunk Etta James, Shirley Bassey or a really trashed Aretha! Yes, the vocal inflection is overdone and a bit grating. But even some of the singers she seems to be trying to channel were overdoing it too. I would prefer this music played with a real band, that cheesy rhythm section is really weak. The horsn sound okay though. They may be real.

I first heard of Amy Winehouse like a lot of people in the US did. In the news with nothing but negative comments about her personal life. But when it came to the music I always heard praise on the album. i first heard the single "Rehab" and did not think to much of the song at first. After watching the VMA in Las Vegas I decided to give the album a chance. I was hooked instantly by the souldful sound of Amy Winehouse. It was a voice that I have not heard since the Motown days of music. It seemed like I listened to that album like everyday. Than I actually heard that Frank was her best and debut album. It took me a while to make the choice to purchase the album but when I finally did I could not believe what I was listening to. This was the Amy Winehouse that I felt was missing from the Back to Black album. Eveything worked for her in this album her soulful voice, the classic Motown/lounge style music and mixed with some great lyrics. Back to Black had everything just the music headed more pop than Frank. Her voice did not have as much control as Frank, but the music stuck to it's true form. I say if you listen to Back to Black and liked/loved the album. Frank will blow your socks off...

Amy Winehouse is one of my favorite artists. This album is great. Let's hope she is around for years to come.

I have liked this album better each time I listen to it, and I definitely like it better than "Black". Her voice is noticeably better, and the caustic humor is just as biting. "You should be stronger than me", is a great example.

So here's the short version,
Frank is a very good CD if... you love old school R&B (60's)
AND
You aren't put off by bad language, and adult themes. In other words, I would never play it with my parents or kids in the room, but I like it for what it is.

This is my first experience listening to Amy Winehouse, I can't get over what a terrific voice she has. Elements of Ella, Sarah Vaughan. Amy has been training her voice since she was 8 yrs old and in special music schools and it shows.

This is good album of Amy's early work to see the progress she made, but is pales in comparison to Back to Black, which is her masterpiece.

I was recently turned on to this amazing and talented young woman. I purchased her "Back to Black" album earlier this year and instantly fell in love with her music. I was visiting a friend in Wash DC a few months ago and he had a few of her songs from A.W. "Frank" on his computer. He told me that she would have a deluxe edition coming out. Of course, when returned home to ATL I searched amazon.com and found the "Deluxe edition" of her "Frank Album" and ordered it. I have truly listened to this CD ever since I received it in the mail. You will not be disappointed. SUPER SUPER SUPER Vocalist. I love her despite the fact that she has a serious problem with her life on drugs right now. BUY this album now and Get hooked on A.W.

This is a good CD. Her voice sounds good. It has a modern sound. But I would have like more variety of styles of songs.

I was one of those watching the news of Amy's "drug habits" until one day I thought well what does Amy actually do. So I watched some of the music videos on you-tube of early Amy Winehouse and have been hooked ever since. She is thee Only one I listen to on my i-pod. Frank and Back to Black plus others that have not been recorded. That voice, it's the voice and range, it's raw, honest and addictive. Stay with us Amy, your not done yet. She is our Janis Joplin/Billy Holiday.

I have been so amazed with Amy Winehouse's voice. I love the music, totally 60's meandering through the CD. She may have her problems and she does need to get over that if she really wants to keep up the wonderful work of her music, but to listen to her sing you are transported to those 60's thoughts.

Her voice and performance never lets you down. Fantastic Album. Would highly recommend it to all.

I heard this song with I was on vacation in Scotland and England over Christmas 2007. What a fun song and catchy!

Now that she's a household name you'd be remiss not to have this album that makes Back to Black (as awesome as it is!) look like a typical sophmore effort. Frank is refreshing and soulfully put together, great lyrics, outstandign vocals and great beats. A fantastic debut from one of the best new talents to emerge in a very long time.

If you're not familiar with the background and story of Amy then this is an ideal item - there are no books about her yet available [im sure there will be soon] and this certainly fills the gap. Seems shes had a fascinating life so far, and this has interviews with her on it too giving her own version of events. Of course it doesn't have her music on - the other reviewer here who says they thought it was her new album is either blind [it says it's a spoken word biography in the description]or can't read [in which case this would be an ideal item for him] . As for the one who complains tha the interviews with Amy are in a south london drawl - well what does he expect being that that's wehere she's from - perhaps he would like her to adopt a New York dialect just for him

when did the responsibilty of reading and properly understanding what one is lookiing at become the subject for a public forum?? This product is exactly as advertised, perhaps a bit overpriced for some, but on the whole enjoyable and a worthwile view for me

What appears to be a new Amy Winehouse album is a collection of comments by her or about her. Some of us love this flamingly self-destructive, but hugely talented artist. Her skin looks something like a toilet-stall in a biker bar - one more tattoo might kill her, but she certainly doesn't need a bunch of greedy, record company suits killing her career with this phony CD release.

That's how much faith I have in Ms. Winehouse!! I got a free download from iTunes a few months back called "You Know I'm No Good" and I haven't been able to tear myself away from her hypnotic and nostalgic voice!!

I already know that this album will be great. She has such a No Holds Barred way of living that it has no choice BUT to spew over into her music. I can't wait to buy this album!

She is really a breath of fresh air! Her songs are so interesting and fun to listen to. She needs to get to the US quick because she will blow up here! Anyone who is tried of the music of today, needs to listen to a little Amy. She is on a different league then anyone else. My only thing is that I like her second album a lot more. (Back To Black)GREAT WORK!!!!

I'd never heard of Amy Winehouse until I caught a free download of "You Know I'm No Good" off of her new album .......... What a surprise! That voice is so fresh and unique and her lyrics are actually smart, sexy, and funny. I bought "Frank" right away and already ordered "Back to Black". If you're tired of cookie-cutter pop and R&B and like to mix it up with some hip hop beats and some jazz and rock thrown in with a retro flavor then check out this album. My favorite song is "In My Bed" which uses the same track as "Made You Look" by Nas.

Considering this artist names Busta Rhymes, Mos Def and Nas as influences, I don't see why people are so reluctant to mention her hip hop aspects. That said, this album is hot. This is an artist who's got some serious soulful sounds coming out. As has been said, a nice blend of jazz and hip hop. "Stronger than Me" is the strongest track in my opinion.

But overall, if you never heard of Ms. Winehouse, believe me, she's well worth the purchase. Her music is excellent (plus they don't have this album on Itunes..lol).

I gave this album 5 stars because not only did I really like her voice, the original music was great and she even gives a nod to some old soul music and hip hop, but it's the lyrics that make me want to meet this chick. I loved her sense of humor in the songs and she has a lyrical wit not found in many popular performers today. You've gotta check this one out.
