Andrea Bocelli

Well, After having read all the reviews and listened to the tunes available I still got the CD and I am glad. I guess you have to be grey-haired (I'm 60 and I grew up listening to Como sing these songs) and Italian (I'm only 1/2 Italian, I make a mean Sunday Gravy with Meatballs). Music, like beauty, is in the eyes (or ears in this case) of the beholder!

Don't get me wrong. I've been an Andrea Bocelli fan ever since I was a teenager (back in 1998). Having loved 'The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere,' I awaited the release of this album, 'Incanto' (which means 'Enchanted'). And when I got it, I sat down to listen. Sadly, I didn't think that this CD was as good as his earlier stuff.

The opening track, 'Un Amore Così Grande (A Love So Great),' was fantastic. It had the essence of the old school Bocelli that captured listeners' attention with elegant melodies, soaring high notes, and lavish backgrounds. Now that song has potential of making it onto an ultimate Bocelli best-of.

The rest of the album - which features Italian, Spanish, and even English boat songs - is okay, but it lacks the variety and the charm that made Bocelli a household favorite among millions all over the world for so long. The singing is good, as usual, but there could have been better song choices (as someone else said).

So I don't know. I don't think Bocelli is losing his charm, but I hope he gets it right for the next album. For now, I think I'll take out the 'Vivere' album I mentioned earlier, 'Romanza,' 'Sogno,' or something like that. I suggest the rest of you do the same. 'Incanto' is only recommended for those Bocelli fans that simply must have it all.

A better collection of songs like those featured on this CD is 'The Voice,' by Russell Watson.

was given as a gift because I "was" a fan of Mr. Bocelli. Soehow, his music in this CD sounds like any tenor singing Italian songs. I guess it's only for Opera folks.
I missed the heart and soul of his in this CD. This CD is quite a distance from Vivere. People now tend to buy this CD because of his name and it seems to me like he only sings to show off his voice in this one.
Speaking of the voice, I prefer the tenor Russell Watson in "The Voice".
They sang a same song in these 2 CDs so you can compare for yourself.
I think older folks would like this CD for nostalgy. I am 40 but I don't care to listen to the end of this CD. This is why I wrote I was a fan of him, not "am" any more.

Incanto by Andrea Bocelli is another hit... I enjoyed it but his live in Tuscany CD is one of his best...

Not familiar with the songs. Sung in foreign language. Songs that are sung in foreign language can be enjoyable if you are familiar with the melody.

You read in some of Andrea's reviews how he overpowers the other singer in some of his duets - in my case this CD overpowers the other CD's in my CD Changer - it's hard to listen to other music once you hear this collection. Both my wife and I crank up the volume and by the end of the CD we have tears in our eyes and just play it again. We particulary like track 2 Sogno and track 5 Canto Della Terra. Next step would be to go out and buy a new sound system; I might burn out my 31 year old Marantz amplifier listening to this - I have already ordered his CD's Amore and his new CD Andrea.

This CD is just great. He has an incredible voice and uses it to send shivers down your spine!!

I'm not a music expert...I just know what I like and I LOVE this cd! The duet pieces are wonderful. I may not understand the words to many of the songs but I can feel the emotion that Andrea Bocelli puts in them. This is certainly a cd worth having.

I was disappointed that it wasn't Bocceli himself. It was interesting to see and hear some of the old songs and events during that time period. However, when I am purchasing an Andrea Bocceli CD and DVD, that is who I want to see and hear.

One of the absolute best CD & DVD of Bocelli. It brings Italy home to your home!

Being of full Italian decent, (a first generation American-Italian on my father's side) I grew up listening to many of these "Napolitan" songs, sung by many different Italian artists, including the late, great Pavarotti. The latter, being the ultimate. However, Bocelli does an equally impressive job on this CD. His voice is rich in tone and at times sounds completely effortless. I have all of his other CD's and they are terrific. This one brings me back to my childhood, as my parents played Italian music constantly. It also makes me long to return to Italy. With that said, any fan of Bocelli's, whether Italian or not will thoroughly enjoy this music and the personal style in which he sings these songs. I highy reccomend this deluxe CD set. It's one that will get played over and over.

Bocelli at his finest. His warm and smooth style is so pleasant One of my very favorite albums. He is the Pavarotti of today.

The CD & DVD was received in excellent condition. I believe every thing Andreas records is usually excellent and this is no different. These are a welcome addition to my library.

This is one of the best romantic songs albums I've ever heard.
I really recommend it for anyone who is still in love and would like to stay that way forever.

I own this CD and every time I hear it, I am taking away to another world of lyrics, rhythms, and relaxation. It also brings back memory of my childhood since I grew up listening to most of these songs. The songs were nicely chosen and presented in an harmonic order.

Although I don't know the languages that Andrea usually sings in, I prefer he not sing in english. And the nod to Elvis on this CD is out of place.

This cd is wonderful, I have fallen deeply in love with Andrea Bocelli! What a gift God has given him with all that talent. Thank God for Andrea Bocelli.

Andrea Bocelli has a voice unlike anyone else. His music is pure. Buy this, you'll love it!

Wish I could have given it 10 stars! If you love Italian opera, don't miss this one. I fell in love with Con Te Partiro the first time I heard it, blasting from a passing convertible in Brooklyn, NY back in 1998. Didn't know the artist at the time, but ran to the record store and hummed the tune that was replaying over & over in my mind. I was introduced to Bocelli that day on the Romanza CD and have loved him ever since.
As a long time Pavarotti fan, the thought of someone else trying to sing Nessun Dorma made me shudder, but Bocelli nailed it (Viaggio Italiano CD).
No, I am not your typical Italian opera fan. I am a 57 year old Black woman from Brooklyn, NY that happens to love Italian opera. I cried when we lost Pavarotti, and I thank God for bringing us Bocelli.

I have all of Bocelli's CD's, but if I could have only one, it would be ROMANZA! I ordered this up for a friend who recently just discovered Bocelli. This has got to be the most romantic collection ever made! My friend? She tells me she has this CD playing, volume full blast in her car on trips - over and over again!

Like many Americans, I was first introduced to the magic of Andrea Bocelli through television. I often find myself still reaching for "Romanza" as a way to relax and take a journey through a musical masterpiece. Though it was recorded over a decade ago, the album has, for the most part, withstood the test of time.

To get the reason for the four-star rating out of the way: several songs on the album do date themselves to the mid-90s. I was never a big fan of the saxophone-driven jazz accompanied by synthesizers that was popular ten years ago, and it is for this reason that I don't give the album five stars. For those who love this style of music, songs like 'E Chiove' and 'Le Tue Parole' will sound fanstastic. And, while 'Caruso' has become a classic in some circles, the song simply isn't my cup of tea.

The rest of the album is, however, timeless. 'Vivo Per Lei' is a stirring duet about the power of music, while 'Il Mare Calmo Della Sera' captures the beauty of the Mediterranean. 'Vivere', since recorded as a dual-language song, is still stirring despite being entirely in Italian. And 'Miserere', the song that launched Bocelli's career, highlights the power of his voice when sung live. (Note: though some reviewers have complained about Zucchero's voice, the version on this album was recorded with John Miles, not the Italian star.)

Then there is 'Con te Partiro', the song that made Andrea Bocelli a household name and, like 'Nessun Dorma' was for Luciano Pavarotti, has become "his" song. While the second version on the album, a duet with Sarah Brightman titled 'Time to Say Goodbye' is stirring, it is the original which captures the power of Bocelli's voice. It is this song that I first heard on television over a decade ago, this song that led me to the voice that has captured the world, this song that still resonates so strongly over ten years later. If you listen to no other Italian-language song in your lifetime, you must listen to this one. It is powerful, emotional, and so beautiful it hurts.

It's easy to love one song by an artist, and while it was 'Con te Partiro' that led me to Andrea Bocelli, it was "Romanza" that made me fall in love with his voice. Celine Dion once said that, "If God had a singing voice, He would sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli." This album is proof of that statement.

As a new listener of his music, I wanted one album that would be representative of Bocelli's distinctively romantic voice and that included my personal fave: "Vivo Per Lei." This album is perfect.

The music is almost to level of chanting for meditation and provides enormous psychological comfort.

Looking for Holiday Music for a dinner party I went to Amazon and typed in Christmas CD. This CD came up as a Christmas choice. It doesn't sound very much like Christmas music to me. The value and shipping were very inexpensive so the sound of it was my only disappointment.

Could listen to Andrea Bocelli for hours, and I did while wrapping a mound of Christmas presents. Great holiday CD.

from start to finish a wonderfuly dismal and solemn collection of religious arias. Best suited at a funeral or during a serious session of misanthropy and introflection. A definate must have for serious opera fans!!!!!

What a wonderful CD! This is music I will listen to over and over - his voice is amazing!

Better than most of the tenors that have "bigger names" - but he has a pure and clear sound.

Tuscany is beautiful, Andrea is never better than in this DVD. Enjoy. And plan to visit Tuscany (which I'm doing this coming year, and for a concert in the same location as the one in this DVD)!!

This is a great DVD/CD for Bocelli. I've watched it many times over and over again. The songs are awesome!!! One of the best ever!!!

Fantastic!! Since his first cross-over CD/DVD, "Under The Desert Sky", I have awaited another such set. I have listened and viewed it many times and it just gets better. One of our most prized operatic voices heard today. The wonderful artists that appeared on stage and performed with him were outstanding. The backdrop of the Tuscany countryside was beautiful and well chosen. I look for more of these entertaining concerts which I prefer over classic opera.

The CD portion was shorter than expected, but the quality of the music/sound is wonderful.
Seeing Bocelli live and in person would be great, but the DVD is the second best thing to it!

I loved this CD. But then, I have all of Andrea's CD's and could listen to his voice all day long regardless of what he is singing. The DVD was a mite disappointing, but I just wanted to hear his voice.

This admirable compilation includes part of the vast repertoire of this extraordinary and sensitive interpreter that has captivated and engaged the universal admiration all over the world.

In particular Il mare calmo della sera and La voce del silenzio are - to my view- the two most emblematic tracks in this golden album.

What else can be said about this respectable and beloved first-rate artist?

I loved this music. It is so peaceful and relaxing and also very romantic. If you are a Bocelli fan you will love this CD.

What can you say about Andrea Bocelli that hasn't been said before! His voice is sheer magic! Excellent CD/DVD!!

I heard this CD on a PBS pledge drive (it was a premium) and found myself loving every cut on it! I was in my car and just wanted to keep on driving and listening. This is by far my most-played CD - I've had to make it a weekend only listen to prevent getting burned out on it. HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you are unfamiliar with some of the pieces, you will quickly learn to love them. . . . I must end this review - I'm off to listen to the "flower duet" for the 100th time. . .

I'm new to opera, but this CD has really beautiful music. I use it in my CD clock radio (Timex, that I purchased here also) to go to sleep to.

The movements in this collection move Me as much as My very bowel. Hence, it might work for your too. Try it, you'll like it if you want to be moved to your very "soul".

Am just discoving the glory of opera. Not all opera, but the arias that make your heart soar. My husband turned away from opera because he was "overdosed" at an early age and it really spoiled his pleasure for life. He's gone now, and I'm discovering what I've missed. This is a wonderful CD and well worth having.

If one was wanting to introduce a friend to the wonderful world of opera, this would be a great cd to buy them. Also at this time when many of us are worrying about Luciano and his health , it is great to hear him featured on many of the selections. A great buy and wonderful collection.

Great to listen to when trying to relax. I listen to it at work and after work too. It eases the tension. He is an amazing artist, singer. My wife enjoys this as well.

If you like your music nice and low and in Italian, you'll love Andrea Bocelli. I do, that's why I have almost everything he's done. This truly is music for people over 40 who want and like romance in their life. (what can I say except I'm getting old)

The tone of so many of this album's songs is almost reverent. Truly, this group of songs is one of Mr. Bocelli's best works. I recommend it for your own collection, as well as for gift-giving.

Bocelli is awesome! The Prayer is absolutely gorgeous! He is one of my favorite singers!
