Anna Nalick

Not a bad CD. Her music reminds me a lot of Sarah McLaughlin and Tori Amos. I would have rather the radio version of In the Rough and Wreck of the Day but I'm still pretty satisfied with the CD overall.

The poetry in the songs is really beautiful in this CD. I suggest reading the lyrics as you would a book of poetry. Anna Nalick sings well, and she is more adult in style and content than the assorted pop stars jarring the radio waves today. I'm enjoying this album.

Sometimes it's hard to parse between the pretenders and the legitimate singer-songwriters of this generation, particularly on the female side. So many female artists are packaged and repackaged and produced with layers of vocal overlay that you can't really tell whether they truly have the songwriting and singing chops to last.

Fortunately, in this case, it's very apparent that Anna Nalick has what it takes. She carries an easy but passionate singing style that comes across strongly, not in a contrived way but with real sincerity. I would place her at the top of the heap of up-and-coming female vocal talents (with folks like Duffy, and a notch above the Kelly Clarksons of the world...as much fun as I think Kelly is).

This is one of the best CD"s I have heard in a long time. The tracks are put in sequence well to enhance the flow of the music. Anna Nalick has a wonderful voice and I think she will be at the top of the industry soon.
My favorite tracks include "Satellite" and "In The Rough" and "Wreck of the Day". Thanks Anna , looking forward to hearing more music from you soon I hope.

Anna Nalick is truly a spectacular songstress. She has written or co-written every track and the songs are just wonderful. In terms of style, I'd say she's a cross between Michelle Branch and Tori Amos.

I have her prior album and prefer the acoustic tracks on this EP. I think the acoustic format fits her talents better.

The new track on this EP is nowhere near as good as her hits from "Wreck of the Day." The mediocre title track, two reheated hits, and a cover song from the RHCPs bodes poorly for her next album as Nalick looks inexorably headed for a sophomore slump.

I, along with millions of others, became an instant fan of Anna Nalick with her Wreck of the Day album. Anna is definitely an artist who has quite a lot to offer with her music, and any fan will be psyched that we have this new Shine EP from her.

The title track is simply fantastic, with a hint of country while not diverging from the style we've come to know from Anna. The acoustic version is just as nice. Of course, the (pleasant) surprise here is a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Breaking the Girl." Anna strips down this song to just an acoustic guitar and it's interesting to hear a female perspective on it. Very nicely done. I have to say that I'm not too crazy about acoustic versions of "Breathe (2 a.m.)" and "Wreck of the Day" being included here. These songs are spectacular, don't get me wrong. It's just that most, if not all, fans will have already heard them. I think a couple of live songs, or perhaps b-sides, would have made this a perfect EP.

Overall, this Shine EP is a great treat to hold us fans until Anna's new album. Think of it as a tasty appetizer before the main course. It's certainly priced right, not to mention the beautiful photo of Anna on the cover (as usual).

This is generally not my kind of music, but for whatever reason, the album's first single, 2 AM, caught my attention, so I picked this up expecting many more anthems of melancholy and rainy day softness to enjoy outside the company of others.
Instead, all I got one well written track (lyrically and musically) and a bunch of clumsy 90's songwriter bollocks with a glossy, uninspired quality. It's rare anymore when a single is less formulaic and contrived as the rest of the album, especially when it comes to this niche, but despite Anna's soft 'n' timbered voice and her above average lyrics, the album simply blows.

I'm lovin it! Product arrived a couple of days early and in perfect condition. Great seller!

breathe is probably the only reason to buy this....when i first heard this song, it felt like it belonged on an episode of dawson's creek or grey's anatomy....clearly, anna is a young woman who is mature beyond her years, but it seems like she tries too hard, like she really wants listeners to take her seriously... that's she's not another britney or miley and i appreciate that...but lighten up, girl...enjoy yourself , sometime...the other songs i liked were wreck of the day, forever love, catalyst, bleed...you may not be a britney or a christina, anna, but you're still a pop singer...enjoy it....

I am breathing a little easier since I received this CD........Anna Nalick is awesome....favorites are Breathe 2AM, Wreck of the Day....I'm sure the more I listen, the more I'll love it all....

What we have here is a blend of Sheryl Crow and Natalie Merchant and the best of both. Great choice a material with Crow's strength and intensity and Merchant's smooth flowing voice, but without slurring the words of the song. This artist is going to do well. Buy it, you'll like it.

Having seen the amazing, beautiful, Miss Nalick several times, I found myself enamored with a song she performs at her concerts called "Home".
It is a simple, wonderful tune about a young girl, singing about something that is important to her, her home.
This is the only time you will ever have a chance to add this to your collection, unless you are lucky enough to win one by being the high bidder on ebay, as it was never released in the U.S.
Who knows, maybe it will end up on a greatest hits disc, or a box set in the future, but for now, if you don't have "Home" your Anna collection is missing out.
Acoustic "Catalyst" is very cool, and by now, about everyone knows about "Breathe".

If you are a fan of Anna Nalick, you should definitely import this single from Australia. Here is where you will find the previously unreleased acoustic single "Home." Her debut album Wreck of the Day is a must have, it is an incredible first effort from an amazing young woman. With no professional musical training, she sings with such passion and honesty, and even writes all of the music to back her meaningfuly lyrics. If you have ever had the chance to meet her you would understand why she says, and I quote, "Some artists have fans. I have friends." She is humble and gracious, which is why I expect her to have a lasting career in the world of music.

The only thing left for me to purchase now is the Japanese import that has Anna's unreleased single "Drink Me."
