Avril Lavigne

I waited a while to purchase this album because the price was a bit too high when it was first released. Now that they hype of the first summer single is over, I can listen to the album for what it is...a good feeling rockish collection of songs. I was not impressed with "Girlfriend" when I first heard it. I believe it sounded too immature for Avril. She has a good mind and has made some interesting music in the past without giving the impression that she was selling out. There are one or two other songs on this album that are in the same vein as "Girlfriend" that only cheerleaders will appreciate, but otherwise this album is the same old Avril we knew before she became friends with Paris Hilton. I believe the song "Runaway" is the best she has ever recorded and worth the price of the entire album.

Anyway...I simply love Avril Lavigne!, and I hate those who say her voice sucks or that she's bratty-cause she's NOT! I think she sings awesomely and people can connect to her sings. Plus, she is a very strong person. Did you know she sang at a concert the same day her grandfather died-after he died? Some of earth's population may think she is just horrorible and that she cusses too much (my dad thinks that) but I disagree, though I do think she does cuss a lot... So don't to so loser
who dises Avril. They are WRONG! Avril Lavigne is definitely one of my favorite artists and is totally one of the best female singers EVER!

For those of you who are fans of Let Go and Under My Skin please don't tarnish your good opinion of Avril by listening to this album because it's absolute garbage. I can't listen to this without laughing- it really is that bad. The only reason I gave it any stars at all are for the three tracks that easily could have appeared as bonus tracks on Under My Skin and are worthy of a download:

I like this cd. Reminds me of Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" - punky, bratty, fun, if perhaps a bit over-produced. Not crazy about the new band; I liked the younger guys better than these older "pros". To my ears, they gave her work a bit more energy; my only complaint on "Best Damn Thing" is that the music sounds somewhat forced, a bit too pristine. Not the greatest album ever, maybe not as good as her monumental first release, but a fun, enjoyable collection of well-crafted punky pop with strong hooks.

I thought this album was fun! Definatly a different side of Avril but a very upbeat CD. It makes you wanna dance and sing along. Don't be too harsh on her. It's not her BEST CD, but it is a good one. It gets you in a very energetic mood. The songs are:
Girlfriend, I Can Do Better, Runaway, The Best Damn Thing, When You're Gone, Everything Back But You, Hot,Innocence, I don't Have To Try,One Of Those Girls, Contagious, and Keep Holding On.

As you may know, Avril also released a clean version too (as well as an explcit.) She also has a DVD of her live in concert. (A pretty cool dvd!!!!!!)

Avril is pretty talented- so many hit songs: Sk8er Boi, Complicated, I'm With You, My Happy Ending, When You're Gone, Girlfriend, Innocence, as well as so many other great songs.

By the way, although Amazon marks this edittion explicit, it's not. I rate this CD a 4 out of 5 stars.

Every Song From Open To Close Has Great Songwriting And Music. Avril Lavigne Has Always Been Considered "Pop" Because Of Her Age, Gender And Concepts Of "Some" Of Her Songs, Those Three Things Attract A Certain Audience But The Music Itself Has More Of An Edge To It. She's Definatley Up There With Fellow "Modern Rock" Artists Such As "Nickleback" "Three Doors Down" "Three Days Grace" Etc Just To A Few, But Noone Will Credit Her This Way For The Three Reasons Mentioned Above.

1. Take Me Away -this song starts out slow but quickly picks up into a rocking chorus. Avril vents and energizes all of her pain and frustration into this song when it comes to a deteriorating relationship. This brings a great start to the CD of what is about to come.

2. Together -This is one of the best tracks on the disc. It's a sad song about the meaning of the word "together" and how a couple is slowly holding on to each other to the point where they are falling apart. The piano in the background is powerful and intense. A must listen.

3. Don't Tell Me -Something about the beginning beat of this song is so good it just reels you in the minute you hear it. I cant quite one hundred percent decipher the meaning of this song, but if I had to guess it's about being in a difficult relationship: one that is pressuring and controlling. Avril shows off her confident grit very well in this song with her "dont tell me what to do, dont tell me what to say." lyrics.

4. He Wasn't -Here was my only downfall of the CD. Fans of sum41 and blink182, and Avril's punk-pop hits may like this track, but to me, no. ALthough the beat was spunky and hip, the lyrics seemed too trite and simple. "This is where i bite my nails, and clean my room when all else fails. I think its time for me to bail." I usually skip this track.

5. How Does It Feel -mellow and honest. Avril revels her soul on this track with lyrics like "I am young and I am free, but I get tired and I get weak." This is also another tough song to decipher the meaning behind, but again I'm guessing its about realizing the differences between herself and another person and the loneliness she feels from it. It has a great beat, one she will sing you to sleep with.

6. My Happy Ending -Aside from her song "Don't Tell me." "My Happy Ending" was an overplayed track we all know and have heard. It's a good pop song, in case you havent heard it. The topic is about her fairytale letdown and how she had it all planned out, but her relationship fell apart for various reasons. It's a beautiful song though and got well deserved radio play.

7. Nobody's Home -This was also another single, but is one of the dark and moodiest on the CD. Avril commented that this song was about her feelings on the road. In the music video however Avril plays a young woman on the run who appears to be eitheir homeless or a runaway from her home. It has an intense, great beat to listen to, and its a beautiful song about real loneliness.

8. Forgotten -Angry sounding piano, followed by Avril singing her heart out in this beautiful and dark track. It's a great followup to "Nobody's Home" There isnt much else to say, but the title of it says it all. Its about feeling forgotten in lonely in a relationship. Excellent emotion portrayed in this one.

9. Who Knows -Things change on track 9. "Who Knows" is a more upbeat and positive track on the disc. Its simply about hanging in there because a person doesnt know what life has in store for them. It has good positive lyrics: "Find yourself because I cant find you." was a favorite of mine.

10. Fall To Pieces -Fall to pieces is a mellow acoustic song, the is deeply honest coming from Avril. It was a great single and song and you cant get more honest then "I dont want to fall to pieces. I just want cry in front of you. I don't want to talk about it." One of the CD's gems.

11. Freak Out -Freak Out is a real headbanger. The lyrics arent exactly my favorite but it has a good message behind it. She sings that you should just let out your emotions and then let go of everything else. Also that you should just live your life according to your own standards. Another positive song on the cd.

12. Slipped Away -The CD finally comes to an end with the sweet little song "Slipped Away." It's a track about the loss about her grandfather. It's a very pretty song and emotional ballad.

Well, I hoped you enjoyed my little analysis of the CD, song by song. At least now if you haven't ever heard her music, or bought any of it, you kind of have an idea of what to expect from this CD. Personally, I thought Let Go was a better CD but it was a hard CD to come back at with. Her sophmore debut isnt too bad though. The piano on the CD is very beautiful, her lyrics aren't as good as on Let Go, but Under My Skin is still a CD thats worth being called ear candy.

Buy this one for all your teenage daughters. Avril Lavigne is one tough cookie and doesn't compromise her ideals/morals for anybody (at least in the songs).

Every song is a gem. There's not one that I find myself reaching for the "skip" button. Heck, they could all be hit singles (I think most are).

I'm not getting into each individual song... Just buy it. I've been listening to it in my car for almost a month.

I'm a huge fan of Avril Lavigne, and I think she really shines in this album. The songs are amazing and catchy. She has a beautiful voice, she can carry a tune, she can hit the notes, she has a huge range, she's amazing. If you are looking for a new favorite singer, you've found one. I'd buy this album because I think the songs are better and she has a huge chance to shine. And trust me, she does.

I really, really loved this CD once it hit store shelves back in May 2004. I still feel the same about it, really. It's kinda surprising.

*** Take Me Away...is one of Her most angst-ridden recordings, but it's OK I guess. Just don't plan on putting it on repeat.

"Let Go" was quite a piece of work for a 17 year old kid. Don't know (or care) how Avril has amassed such a large group of "haters". As someone who was around when punk first came to be and was an active player on the Boston punk scene, I'd remind all those ranting about "fake punk", etc, should keep in mind that Johnny Rotten & crew (and most other "real punks" of the era) were, JUST LIKE AVRIL, middle-class kids from the 'burbs who were largely "acting out". I can't attest to Ms. Lavigne's "sk8er" cred, but as a professional musician, I can attest to the high quality of the songwriting and musical performances on this cd. Did she get assitence from "The Matrix" crew? Undoubtedly - as did EVERY OTHER ACT they produced. Having seen her perform, I have to agree that she sometimes has trouble w/ pitch, her voice is a bit thin, & it appears her guitar playing skills are quite limited (although contrary to one mis-informed reviewer, there is indeed a G chord in "Complicated") - but many singer-songwriters can't do much more than strum chords. All I can say to all the "haters" out there is I'd love to hear what you could come up with at 17 years old - I've spent literally years in the studio, as both a "hired gun" and recording my own material, and I'd be ecstatic if the results were half as good as this album. Hell, if I could write just one song as good as "Complicated", I'd be a happy man. Any of you ranting about her inability to sing/write/play ever actually been in a studio? I thought not. Were any of you there in the studio when "Let Go" was recorded to verify the claims you make re: her not writing any of the material, etc? Again, I thought not.

This album, in my opinion, is Avril Lavigne's best. There's just an honesty to it, in her voice and her lyrics, that made me respect her right off. Every song is good, there won't be many you skip over. I would recommend this album over her latest, hands down.

1. Losing Grip -starts out with a mellow guitar, and a rocking chorus. This song is about loosing your cool over someone you once had feelings for and then in the long run realizing "why should I care, you weren't there when i was scared" as she puts it.

2. Complicated -Avril Lavignes very first radio hit. A very refreshing change of pace in the mainstream when it first came out, compared to all of the robotic sounding pop. The song is about her recommending not to pretend to be someone you're not. Great chorus.

3. Sk8er Boi -This is one of her punk-pop songs. A spunky beat and good lyrics that tell a story. The story is about a boy who had feelings for a girl who rejected him because he was unpopular, but who grows up to be a superstar making her regret her decision not to date him. Very neat idea for a song.

4. I'm With You -This was also one of her radio hits. It's a slow song accompinied by a beautiful violin in the background. Lyrics about not knowing who your true love yet is, but your heart goes out to them anyway. About time someone wrote a song about what we are all feeling these days.

5. Mobile -Mobile really grows on you, and when it does, it demands to be a song you put on repeat. Not one Avril is very well known for, but in my opinion, makes a real gem on the CD. Rapid acoustic guitar, with lyrics about change and new beginnings. Excellent.

6. Unwanted -Out of all the songs on this CD, Unwanted is probably the song that didnt stick out to me the most. It's another moody song about feeling ignored and abandoned, unwanted, henc the title. Avril really shows off the strength and emotion in her voice on this track though.

7. Tomorrow -A sweet little acoustic ballad, with lyrics that could pretty much be interpretated as several different things. The song sort of suggests putting off believing someone until tomorrow, and not being ready for change. Avril's voice is very light on this one and just shines. Fun and simple song to sing along to.

8. Anything But Ordinary -As the CD continues, Avril's impressive lyrics remain consistent. Again, this is another song with a promising chorus. A song you can relate to: Is it enough to love? Is it enough to breathe? Somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed. Avril sings about deep emotions we have all experienced one time or another in our confusing lives.

9. Things I'll Never Say -This song is very cheery and upbeat, but the lyrics are somewhat of a suprise. (although im not saying the song doesn't fit the beat because it still does) It's about having feelings for someone and wanting to be spontaneous enough to say a bunch of things to them but not working up the guts to do it. Beautiful song.

10. My World - I like songs like this. A song that just tells it like it is. A little bio of Avril's life growing up. Cutting grass for cash, and braiding her hair on bored days, Avril tells the story of what it was like growing up in her small town. It's also and upbeat and pop sounding song with a catchy chorus.

11. Nobody's Fool -A head nodder. Very entertaining to sing along to. You might say Avril takes her chance at doing a little rap in this song, because it flows together in a mellow beginning as the melody flows together very well. The title says it all, it's about not being anyones fool, and not letting people run all over you. Unique lyrics to it also.

12. Too Much To Ask -This is a slow song, about Avril wanting to cheer someone up but they will not let her. Something we may have all gone through with friends at one time or another.

13. Naked -This is happy song for a change on the CD. Not too fast, not too slow, but kind of a mellow song. Its a pretty little tune about feeling free around someone and how good it feels for her.

Overall, people give Avril a lot of crap due to the whole "she said she was punk rock and she isnt!" thing. All of that aside though and judging her soley on her music credibility, this was a very good CD coming from her at such a young age. Also, depsite her age, it was just a great CD. It's very fun to sing along to, and one I still manage to find in my CD player years later, no matter what anyone else says.

This is like one of the best CD I bought!! Its awesome! It isn't really, really good, but it made me listen to it at least two songs a day, I got addicted to it. You will only like this Cd if you like Avril Lavigne, and she friggin rocks!!!

Before purchasing "Let Go," I actually had bought "Under My Skin," which I thought was a stunning album. With "Let Go," although not as good as her sophomore release, Avril still meets her audience's needs with a great collection of rock/pop hooks that are sure to be stuck in your head. Each song has it's own unique style, my personal favorite being "Anything But Ordinary," which has such a great melody! It's very fun and upbeat, as are most of the songs, with the exception of "Tomorrow," a very unique song with a haunting melody.

Some standouts on this album include "Anything But Ordinary," "Naked," "Complicated," "Loosing Grip," and "Unwanted," and "Sk8er Boi," just to name a few. Avril belts out several tunes, and all of the songs were written by her... showing her wonderful musicianship. She also plays the guitar... and can sing very well (obviously).

Of course, this album isn't perfect. Some of the songs can teeter on the edge of boring and monotonous, and although "Tomorrow" is very unique, it is very forgetabble. "Nobody's Fool" and "My World" are also pretty good songs, although they are also forgetabble and can linger on the verge of becoming boring, with their monotonous choruses.

All in all, despite some cons, Avril Lavigne has landed in the music industry with a great debut filled with some great songs with some great messages. And although some songs are weaker than others, "Let Go" shows Avril's talents very well... from her singing... to her songwriting... and to her musicianship. She is truly a star.

The older she gets, the better she is. Glad she's doing it all herself.

Sooooo many things have been said about her like she can't play guitar or sing!!! Well 1st off YES she can sing. Like her voice? I do, I also like the way she sounds live. Regardless of what kind of equipment some people say she has.
2nd she plays guitar. I play guitar and can play her songs and can learn them by watching HER!!!

Onto the CD. It is a little pop, but its more ROCK as well. Its just not so depressing/emotional as under my skin. This album is very positive.
The songs are avril lavigne songs. That's the sound you get from her. In almost every song EVER Its the sound that commands such a following mainly because of the consistantcy of it. If you like one you like them all kind of thing.
Anyone who likes one of them should buy this CD. If you think She's hot and want to see if she makes good music. Yes. If you don't like her or her music don't buy it and DON'T write a review! This album also may not appeal to OLD-er people who are still listing to 70's rock, but its a possibility I know some who do.

Cool, catchy, deep, rock/pop, awesome!

The title of this CD truly lives up to its name, it really is the best damn thing, in this case, the best damn disk. All Avril Lavigne fans should enjoy this 3rd installment of Avril's recording CD's. It rocks hard and has plenty of what Avril fans would hope for. Avril Lavigne is a real talent and true musician/writer, and it shows on this disk.

Avril is one of my all time favorites... but in this album she shows she has grown up and run out of juice.... the songs lack spark and inspiration and the arrangements are too "normal" to attract any particular interest. I predict she'll fade out from this point on....

If you are a huge avril fan, you will enjoy this. It is nothing new for her music career, but all the songs are awsome. My favorite is the title track "the best damn thing" it is the type that should have been released as a single during the summer of 2007. I should also say that there is a clean and parental advisory version of the album. That's right avril got a quite bit of cursing in it. She cusses in Girlfriend,I can do better,I dont have to try, Everything back but you.

I bought this cd after seeing her live. She improved a lot her voice, the concert was good and I hope she will come back to the darker lyrics and sound of the previous Under This Skin album.
By the way this product is well done and deserves 4 stars on my opinion.

Finally released after months of anticipation, this awesome special edition of Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing is notable for the following:

- The CD/DVD jewel case is enclosed in a cardboard package measuring 10.25" x 10.25" and includes a 20" x 30" folded poster.
- The main 12 tracks are from the censored album version.
- The beautiful ballad "I Will Be" is finally on CD, along with the other incredible single "Alone". These two fantastic songs should have been on the original album version from day one!
- "I Can Do Better" (acoustic bonus track) is the only applicable audio track that is _not_ censored.

- The bonus NTSC DVD includes the four song Orange Lounge performance from summer 2007, in gorgeous 16 x 9 widescreen compatible format. "Girlfriend" is _not_ censored.
- The four music videos are not 16 x 9 widescreen compatible, although "When You're Gone" and "Girlfriend" with Lil Mama should have been. The original "Girlfriend" and "Hot" were not shot (or released) in 16 x 9, so that doesn't apply for those two.

All in all, this is a terrific collector's item for any Avril fan!!!

This is like my faovrite CD in thr world. I didn't really like Avril because she was anti-Britney, but she rocks and her CD is the best! I like "Unwanted" and "Too Much To Ask" the best.

This is definately one you will not be disappointed in....Nobody's Home Live is great and the special treat of her doing Knockin on Heavens door is just awesome....You can't go wrong buying this and the price for such an import is a real bargain. you won't be disappointed.

I really think Avril Lavigne is really original and kooky. She has an original taste in music, doesn't need a fake image and lots of make up and clothes to make people buy her music.

About Avril.
Avril was born in a small town in Canada. She was in many singing competions before she was discovered. Unlike Lindsay and Hilary, she sings and writes her own stuff. She is REAL!! She has true talent. I think people who judge her by what she looks like are MEAN!!! Who are they to go arund saying people are ugly? Do they think anyone cares about their complaining? Duh no.
And I think Avril is kinda pretty.

Her Music.
Avril can play guitar, drums, and the piano and she can sing. I think that's real talent. I like Hilary's voice, but I hate her image and don't really think that she has talent. And she doesn't write her own songs. She only sings them. But Avril's songs are about her PAST, her LIFE, and her PROBLEMS and HAPPINESS. She is actually pouring out her life to us. And people take that for granted, which is real sick. So pick up a CD, (If you're hesitant you can always rent before buying) and get a chance to get to know the real Avril Lavigne, a person who is true and real.

Her Image.
Avril dresses the way she likes and doesn't wear much make up at all, just eyeliner and mascara. She makes life fun, she is great towards her fans, and belts out at her live concerts. She has never been accused for lip sycning. She is great singer, and doesn't act cutesy or anything. She is a real TEENAGER!!!

So get to know Avril and understand about her life instead of judging her when you don't know her.

The fist time I listened to "Nobody's Home", it becomes one of my favorites Avril's songs ever! It's a Ben Moody's colaboration, and it talks about a girl with a lot of problems, she can't find her place and she is lost... Very special and cool performance from Avril, her voice sounds awesome! I'm happy it's the third single of the album, because this song really shows the mature and grown of Avril! Go girl!
This single also contains a live acoustic version of Nobody's Home, which is simply beautiful and amazing!!! Bob Dylan's cover of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" is great and the bonus track is "I Always Get What I Want", a really cool and catchy song!!!
And if you want more, it has the video for "Nobody's Home"!!!

I absolutley love this song! It is really pretty and sad at the same time. Nobody's Home is Avril's best song yet.

I have been a devoted fan of Avril's for years, and I still do not tire of her music. Why? because it is the best of the best! I may have heard Nobody's Home over a thousand times since I first heard it on May 25, but I still love listening to it. I find that it is one of Avril's best masterpieces! Especially since it highlights her talent as a songwriter. She wrote this song on her own, and it is beter than Sk8er Boi and Complicated, so it shows that Avril does not need the Matrix to write good songs! I already knew that, but some still do not. Also, the song also highlights her talent as a singer and is breathaking.
I must admit the first time I saw the video for Nobody's Home, I was not pleased. I thought it was her worst one so far. Now after watching it dozens of times, I love it! I must say it is one of her best! Also, even though the video shows a runaway, the song is not about one. It is about a girl Avril knew growing up who got involved with the wrong people.
Knockin' On Heaven's Door is also a good song, but I am no too enthousiastic about it. On the other hand, I Always Get What I Want is a great song! It resembles, in some ways, Sk8er Boi, Take It, and He Wasn't because they are all great rock songs!

Complicated by Avril Lavigne was her breakthrough single but the real magic is in the two bonus tracks which are not included on her debut, Let Go. The tracks, I Don't Give and Why are strong songs, probably her best! I Don't Give reminds me a bit of Don't Tell Me and Why is a tender and vulnerable ballad. Avril's vocals are really strong, too bad she doesn't make music like this anymore.

The first time I heard COMPLICATED in 2002 I was around 16 years old. I was a huge fan of singer with big voices like Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion, I needed to be impressed in order to pay attention. Avril Lavigne held this quality, the first time I heard THAT voice on the radio, I HAD to find out who it was. I waited for the release and looked up information on the young girl who was AMAZINGLY close to my age. I was dissapointed to find out that she was a sk8er girl, as I was pretty straight-edge, myself. That small lable towards Ms. Lavigne meant absolutely nothing. This young woman is an artist, with a voice that can move anyone to tears. There have been many great pop songs, but someone who can write music and sing the way Ms. Lavigne does, that's truly a gift from a higher power.

It's now 2007 and Lavigne has 3 albums under her belt. Only a start, but a fantastic start to a career that I hope (and know) will last for many decades. Music like Avril's holds close to your heart. With Lavigne, she gives you fun songs ("I Can Do Better", "Girlfriend", "Sk8er Boi"), but she's also more than capable of giving your heart string tugging songs ("When You're Gone", "How Does It Feel?", "Complicated").

Avril...keep up the good work and never lose sight of how wonderful you are.

Hmm...Let's see if I can write a short review using all the songs on here. Perhaps it's too "Complicated" for Avril to be anyhting other than a pre-fab Disney cutout...but with an "edge"! Oooh! Mascara! She must be introspective! "I Don't Give" a crap "Why" she's making music, I just want it to stop.

Ok, let me start by saying that Complicated was my favorite song of 2002. Everyone loved how good it was and how much airplay it recieved. I bought this CD expecting Complicated. Well, it was Complicated, just not how I remembered. Complicated on this single is some weird remix. I hated the remix. Then I heard the rest of the CD which was actually worthless. I Don't Give and Why were both medicore.

Avril Lavigne is sooo cool. i don't actually own this single, but, i have heard Complicated, I Don't Give and Why and they r great! i love the song Why. it's a really good song. i think she should have included it in her album Let Go. the song I Don't Give is also a great song. i would definatly recommend this single!!!!!

This is when Avril had a bit of meat to Her bones. Boy, Do I miss the old Avril so. Many say She's a poser, which is probably true, to a degree.

If She ever said that Her music was Punk, then I'd laugh at Her too. It's Pop, or Pop/Rock. NOT Punk. A lot of bands these days Swear that they're Punk. It makes me Laugh. I know a Punk song when I hear it, usually. It's mostly catchy, and has attitude, some guitar, and it is usually over within the 3:30 minutes.

This song is a pop classic in My eyes...

I see here that the problem is people are complaining about how they can't read the CD and that is why they are giving it 1-2 stars at best. Why are you judging a song on the simple fact that you can't read. Then you go on to say about how her voice is painful, well look a Hilary Duff for example, no actually take Lindsay Lohan compared to Avril they have nothing in the voice quality department. Also if Lavigne wants to swear she can! Who are you to tell her what she can and can't say? I thought Canada and the US were democracies? Now I'm not accusing you people out there that your music taste sucks it's just the music that you people claim to listen to is sort of below-par compared to Avril. Now I'm not also preaching Avril as a goddess, I'm saying that if you dis the song you should back it up with evidence.

Now, to the song.
The song has deep meaningful lyrics and actually got a GRAMMY nomination if you will acknowledge that fact. The song is a cross between a ballad and a mid-tempo rock song with some wonderful moments. One of Avril's best songs.

Out of the 4 Avril CDs (Let It Go, "acoustic EP," Best D... Thing) her 2nd release, Under My Skin, is my least favorite. However, that's not at all saying this is not an excellent package, it just shows how great her entire output is and that she gives herself some very stiff competition. I highly recommend the special edition with the DVD, because that's a very cool addition with a lot of insight to Avril's life on tour and really worthwhile interviews and footage. I like the DVD included with this package better than the DVD that comes with The Best D... Thing package (although that one is very good also). If you're an Avril fan like me, you need to have all of her albums and Under My Skin is no exception. Avril is much more than a record-company-product. In fact, she's not that at all. Avril is the real deal- she's a multi-instrumentalist, a fantastic songwriter, an amazing singer (who doesn't need to use computers to fix her vocals), and a high-energy performer. The DVD lets fans see that she's also fairly grounded, and a professional musician. I think she will be around for a long time even if her popularity fades I bet she will be making good music for years to come. Just as a side note, I'm not in what I believe is Avril's target demographic. I am a 36 year old male musician, who listens to a lot of classic rock and heavy metal. I don't listen to commercial radio or even have MTV. I got into Avril after hearing a mostly acoustic concert she did, then I started buying her CDs and every one has been really good. My favorite tracks on Under My Skin include: Take Me Away, He Wasn't, Happy Ending, Nobody's Home. The bonus DVD alone makes this worth buying for Avril fans.

To begin with, "Under My Skin" is very good without the DVD, but the DVD improves it a lot! It includes some never-before-seen footage that you can get only with the DVD, and the bonus tracks in the CD are good, but I just have one complain about it: the replacement of "Nobody's Home". Instead of the regular version, there's a weird mix, that is not bad, but it's not the same, and also, the live version of "Tomorrow"... What is "Tomorrow" doing in Under My Skin??? I don't know...
The DVD the album includes is very good, and the interviews and the "Under My Skin" documentary is very good, and you never get sick of it, like the documentary of the DVD "My World"
