Beanie Sigel

I like Beanie Mac(some of you might not even know that name) for a lot of reasons:

-He's unique with his style. There are people who are samilar but none bring the intensity of Beans.
-He is reminiscent of Scarface and Ice-Cube in the sense of aggressive and powerful speech and rawness brought of pain and endurance
-His lyrics are so illustrative and compelling
-There is no rapper quite like him and probably never will be.

My favorite is his 1st major album the Truth. Although this one will be right up there in second place. It starts off with powerful tracks like "All of the Above," "Bout That," "You ain't Ready." The most powerful and invoking of his pieces I believe is the title "Dear Self!" This is a song which can easily be expanded into a motion picture of animated music video. It sooo amazingly reflective of the facets and paradoxes within so many of the young men of Philly. Beanie Sigel is one of the uncrowned kings of Philly.

Beanie Sigel's (A.K.A. Dwight Grant) fourth solo album is "The Solution" (2007) a short thirteen track release which features guest appearances from R.Kelly, Styles P, Rock City, Jay-Z, Diddy, Ghostface Killah, Peedi Peedi, Ozzy Osbourne, Scarface & Raheem DeVaughn. The Philadelphia MC gets things started with the Runners produced "All of the Above" which features a guest appearance from R Kelly, a mediocre single - not a fan of the majority of music R Kelly is on these days with a few exceptions. "'Bout That" (Let Me Know) has Sigel talking about nothing new (money, cars, cash, clothes). Sigel's and the Lox killed their beef awile back, Styles P & Sigel team up for a grimy cut in "U Ain't Ready 4 Me". Reggae Artist Rock City drops in for "Go Low" - lacing the track with a decent chorus, Sigel does not to much lyrically. The sparsly produced "Gutted" follows - wack track definitely not one of Jay-Z and Sigel's better collaborations. Diddy, Ghostface Killah, & Peedi Crakk appear on "Shake It For Me" - everyone sounds washed out like they had been drinking to much patron when they recorded this. The Chad Hamilton produced "I'm In" follows and has a throwback feel to it, Sigel admires the women. Same deal on the follow up track "H.H.E.H." (Hustlas, Haze and Highways). In the later part of the album Sigel experiments collaborating with Ozzy Osboure on the subpar "The Day", and samples James Blunt on "Dear Self (Can I Talk To You)" - kicking some introspective rhymes. Substance wise the "Rain" (The Bridge) is one of the album's better track's and features Rap Veteran Scarface and up and coming R & B singer Raheem DeVaughn who also appears on the album's closer - "The Prayer". Production on this release is less then memorable. One doesn't buy Beanie Sigel albums for "Substance" but also notable missing are track's that bang. Sigel has shown way more hunger and delivered better lyrics on past releases. "The Solution" is a below average release, which I would recommend only to diehard Sigel fans. 2.5.

Beanie Sigel returns to the mainstream after bubbling on the underground with a few independent albums since his 2005 release The B.Coming. He's re-signed with Roc-a-fella, he's made amends with a lot of his former crew, and blessed us with another major label contribution with The Solution. He starts off the album with the rawness of "All Of The Above" featuring R&B crooner R. Kelly with production by the super-hot team The Runners (who are best known for "Hustlin'" by rapper Rick Ross.) Cool And Dre drop a nice beat for Beanie on "Bout That," while Styles P trades verses B. Mack on the hard-hitting "You Ain't Ready For Me." Beans summons up some mainstream reggae flava from Rock City for a little 'head nod' music on "Go Low." Jay-Z makes his presence known on the song "Gutted," but Beanie holds his own. Philly's Own sounds a little misplaced on the lackluster Rockwilder-produced "Pass The Patron" featuring Peedi Peedi (he'll forever be Peedi Crakk to me), Diddy, and Ghostface Killah. He gives a lot of different hood tales on the songs "I'm In," "H.H.E.H.," and "What They Gonna Say To Me." He stretches his experimental muscle for the rock-infused, Ozzy Osbourne-assisted "Judgment Day," a track that has the potential to please the rap-rock fan base. Mac and Brad reunite as Scarface gives yet another rare lyrical donation for "Bridge" featuring rising R&B superstar Raheem Devaughn. "Dear Self" is a conversation Beans has with himself, first pointing out all the wrongs he's done throughout his life, and then pointing out that his conscience has been there the whole time and walked in the very same shoes while everything went down. "Prayer" featuring Raheem Devaughn is the album closer and is Beanie's way of acknowledging his wrongs and hoping his God forgives him for his shortcomings. The Solution definitely has a lot of classic Beanie Sigel throughout, with a couple tracks falling short on the Mac meter. Nevertheless, any current or former fan shouldn't have too many problems with The Solution.

I was introduced to Beanie Sigel when I heard him on the track "Reservoir Dogs", which was a track that was featured on Jay-Z's Vol. 2, Hard Knock Life. The track was a collaboration that featured Jay-Z, Sauce Money, Beanie Sigel and The LOX (Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch). Not even a month later, I heard Beanie Sigel on another track entitled "Crew Love", that was featured on Belly. The track featured Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek on the verses and Jay-Z on the hook. I was a fan of "Reservoir Dogs" and "Crew Love", so when Beanie released his solo debut in the year 2000 entitled The Truth, I decided to purchase it. Beanie's debut may not have been an all around classic but there were enough tracks on the CD to have the CD in your collection. My favorite tracks were the title track, which was one of Kanye West's first production credits, "Who Want What" w/Memphis Bleek, "What Your Life Like", "Mac & Brad" w/Scarface and "Die". Later that same year, Beanie Sigel, along with Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek released The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000. Beanie had alot of memorable verses on the CD especially on "This Can't Be Life", which was another Kanye West production that also featured Jay-Z and Scarface on the track. Beanie released his 2nd solo disc The Reason in 2001. "The Reason" wasn't as good as "The Truth" but there were still alot of nice tracks on there like "Think It's A Game" w/Jay-Z, Freeway & Young Chris, "Nothing Like It", "Still Got Love For You" w/Jay-Z & Rell, "What Your Life Like 2" and the 1st single "Beanie...Sigel is the name that they gave me". In 2002, Beanie Sigel, along with Freeway, Young Gunz and Oschino & Sparks released State Property. The CD was sparked by the 1st single, "Roc Da Mic", which featured Beanie & Freeway and the CD also served as a platform for the lesser known members of Rocafella at that time.

While Beanie Sigel was doing a year and a day in jail, he would release what I feel is his best solo CD with The B.Coming. Beanie's 3rd CD was led by the 1st single, "Feel It In The Air", which was produced by Heavy D., yes that Heavy D. and "Don't Stop", which was produced by The Neptunes and featured Snoop Dogg on the hook. Beanie had a lot of introspective tracks on the CD and he still had time to talk about the infamous "purple stuff" on "Purple Rain" w/Bun B from UGK and scandalous and disloyal females on the Just Blaze banger "Bread & Butter", which also featured Grand Puba and Sadat X from Brand Nubian.

In December of 2007, Beanie Sigel released his 4th CD entitled "The Solution". The CD starts out with the 1st single which is produced by The Runners entitled "All The Above". R Kelly is featured on the hook and the track ends up being a decent lead single. Cool & Dre stop by to produce "'Bout That (Let Me Know)". The track is decent but compared to other Beanie CDs and past collaborations, the song doesn't do too much for me. Dre's "money, cars, cash, clothes, baby girl if you 'bout that ish let me know" doesn't help things either. Dame Grease steps in to produce the banger "U Ain't Ready 4 Me" which features Styles P. Reviewer "G $ "Z-Wad" sums it up best as he states how 1) Styles and Beanie go back and forth on the track like Styles and Jada normally do and 2) the track is also featured on Styles P's Super Gangster Extraordinary Gentleman [Explicit]. "U Ain't Ready 4 Me" is nothing that will be considered groundbreaking, but if you like the street style that Beanie usually brings to the table, then this will be one of your favorite tracks on "The Solution". "Go Low" follows the same format as well. Beanie Sigel is at his best when he is letting us know how things go down in the streets and when he is telling us those introspective tales about his ups and downs. R City gives the track some reggae flavor and this track should atleast be in your Top 5. "Gutted" is clearly the all time worst Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z collaboration as they talk about fellas that are trying to perpetrate and act like they are important in the game and in the real world when in reality they are nothing but ordinary joes who are fakin' the funk. This may be the worst Jay-Z verse that I have ever heard. I am not sure why Beanie would attempt to make a club anthem but that's the purpose of "Shake It For Me". First of all he puts together the oddest crew that I have ever seen for a collaboration: Diddy, Peedi Peedi and Ghostface Killah. Ghost has a nice verse, but on this track, that doesn't mean too much. I also like Rocwilder's production but Diddy sounding like Pharrell singing and Peedi Peedi's verse ruin anything good about this track. "I'm In" starts off as a clever tale that Beanie tells about meeting a woman in a department store. However, he completely jacks Scarface's concept and verse on the track "F____ Faces" to compose his 1st verse. Chad "Wes" Hamiltion cleverly uses Luther Vandross' "Make Me A Believer" track as a sample and this actually is a nice track in the end. "H.H.E.H." is a nice, laid back track that allows Beanie to flow in a slower pace. It's a nice change of pace compared to the rest of the CD. "What They Gonna Say To Me" is another decent track as well. Jay-Z ends up on the hook and his contribution to this track is alot better than whatever he was coasting to on "Gutted". "The Day" reminds me of "Wanted (On The Run)" which featured Cam'ron from "The B.Coming" because of the rock and roll sample that is used throughout the track. "Rain (Bridge)" puts Beanie in a place where he is rapping about his infamous introspective tales and also features Scarface. Anytime Beanie and Scarface collaborate it ends up being a memorable track. Raheem DeVaughn also does a nice job with the vocals as well. This track is definitely my favorite track on the CD. Beanie goes back and forth between the good and bad Beanie as he raps about having a conversation with himself on "Dear Self (Can I Talk To You)". This track also features the best production of Andre & Vidal on "The Solution". They ended up producing 4 tracks on "The Solution". Raheem DeVaughn joins Beanie once again on "Prayer". Although, it's another introspective track it sounds too much like a Scarface track instead of a Beanie Sigel track.

Overall, I feel that "The Solution" is a decent release. It just doesn't live up to the past CDs and collaborations that Beanie Sigel has brought to the table before. If you own Beanie's previous releases, then you should add "The Solution" to your collection, but don't expect a classic CD. I would rate this CD more in the 3.5 star range than rate it in the 4 or 4.5 star range. I personally feel that anyone rating this above 4 stars is just happy to see Beanie release a CD instead of actually listening to the material.

I think this album is going to be comparable to Jay-z's Vol. 2. If you're not familiar with Vol. 2, it was Jay-z's most commercial album but it got the most publicity out of all his albums. After that album he was very well known throughout the Hip-hop industry and was ranked very highly among emcees. I think that is the same goal Sigel has on this album. The first song "All the Above" is a club hit, then next few songs are commercial then you have a softer style song about a female that caught his eye at a mall, then from that point untill then end of the album it's the Sigel we remembered form the Truth, Reason, and B. Coming. This definitely cannot compare to the B. Coming but it's still a good album. His lyrics have actually improved. But his content has not. We're used to hearing about Beanz in prison. Locked up in 23&1, you wont hear a lot about that on this album. Although this sounds like a negative review, I did like the CD enough to purchase it and I listen to it daily. I love the cross genre work he's done with Ozzy and James Blunt, although they weren't new verses from either of the 2 artists. I wasn't a fan of the song with Styles P and for some reason it's also on the Styles P album. I recommend it if you're wondering weather to buy it or not.

This is one of my fave albums period. The production is of the chain, and Beans really goes in all the way with this album.

This is a classic album. Beanie Sigel's most inspired work to date, which was released during his jail sentence. Real issues, real music, vintage Sigel.

I liked The Truth but The Reasonj was a lukewarm follow up album. Beanie apologized for that album but he shouldnt have to because he made up for it with this album. Feel It In The Air feat Melissa is a great first single. I Cant Go On This Way(feat Freeway and Young Chris) let you know that Beanie will still give you his all on a track. One Shot Deal is a hot match up with Redman as both Red and Beans spit heat over a tight beat by Bink. Change(feat Rell and Melissa Jay) and Look At Me Now are highlights also. Oh Daddy(feat Young Chris) and Bread & Butter(feat Saddat X and Grand Puba) are two dope tracks dedicated to trife chicks. Flatline(feat Peedi Peedi) and Its One(feat Jay-z) are two tracks with Beans spittin for broke and I like how him and Jigga go back and forth on the track. There are a few tracks that are weak. Purple Rain feat Bun B and Gotta Have It feat Twista and Peedi Peedi are stupid. I like the beat for Gotta Have It and Twista's verse was fire but Peedi's ring-ding-ding style of rapping gets on my nerves! Cam'ron should have been left of of Wanted(On The Run). Lord Have Mercy is boring and Tales Of A Hustler is ruined by Oschino & Sparks. Bottom Line: The B-Coming is an excellent redemption from an MC who has showed promise since he came in the game. Tight lyrics+ dope beats= One of 2005's best releases. Standout Tracks: FEEL IT IN THE AIR, I CANT GO ON THIS WAY, ONE SHOT DEAL, DONT STOP, OH DADDY, CHANGE, BREAD&BUTTER, FLATLINE, LOOK AT ME NOW, ITS ON, WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.

Without a doubt his best release so far... There's not much to say other than this is just one of those releases that when you pick it up you'll be glad you did. Beans lays down some hardcore lyrics on some powerfull beats. His credibility as an artist seems to keep expanding. He's been getting better as his albums go and I still haven't felt like he's lost any of his intensity from the begining of his career.

Man, this album was pretty good.....The beginning track, and single I can feel it in the air is a PERFECT opener for the album...THe Sample of "I can feel it in the air" and the lyrics sync VERY well with the track and just bring out an emotionally filled trak on here.....Other than that, productionz on POINT here, no weak beats on here....I think this is his most complete joint he's put out for real....Good lyrics, good concepts, good record, what more could you ask for? Def pick this up

I always enjoyed hearing Beans spit ever since his cut on the Hard Knock Life album. In fact, I always knew he was going to blow. Beanie brings a tight flow and mic presence that demands the listener to pay attention to every word. The album got some pretty good production. If anything brings this album down to me, it has to be two tracks with some very annoying beats.

Beanie brings some dope lyrics to the opening track The Truth. This is among one of my favorites. The second track Who Want what, Beanie floors Bleek on this one. But who doesn't outshine Bleek? Everybody else mentioned this one. The failed club banger Playa with Amil and Jay. And it's just that, a failed club banger. Speaking of Amil, I'll never forget Jayo Felony's diss on the ROC. When he called her a heroine junkie. That was funny. Anyway, very weak delivery from Amil and she was always the weakest link to me. Rememeber Them Days is really a track I can feel growing up poor. Eve's hook hits home to me, so this is my favorite track right here. Mac and Brad, Beanie and Scarface go back on forth over a tight beat. My second favorite is What your life like. I think this is the deepest track on here.

The weak tracks for me is definitly Mac Man. If it wasn't for the funny lyrics this would be skip material. I already mentioned the failed club banger. And Anything, I just cannot feel those tracks with the little kid hooks and beats. Nas "I Can" is the only exception. Other than that, the rest has been ear poison to me. This a hot album anyway you look at it. It's something I can still listen to on a regular.

Favorite tracks. Rememeber Them Days, What Your Life Like, The Truth, What A Thug About, Die, Stop and Chill.

There is two songs that stop this album from being a classic. Mac Man is garbage(the beat sounds like Pac Man on acid) and Playa feat Amil and Jay-z(failed club banger). Other than that this was a good debut from the Philadephia native. The Truth(his first single) starts off the album as Beanie rips it over a dope beat provided by Kanye. Memphis Bleek makes a decent appearance on Who Want What but Beanie stole the show. Scarface and Beanie are a superb match up and it shows in Mack And Brad). Jay-z makes another appearance on Raw & Uncut(decent) and his solo joint Anything(cool). Beanie also does well when he makes songs of substance like Remember Them Days(feat Eve), What Ya Life Like(which samples Hard Rain) and Everybody Wanna Be A Star(self-explanatory track). Beanie also knows when to switch up the flow(something alot of rappers have problems doing nowadays) on Stop, Chill. What A Thug About is basically explaining what a thug does. Ride 4 My and Die are pretty good tracks too. Bottom Line: The Truth is a promising debut for Beanie Sigel who is now a force to be reckoned with on the mic. The rhymes were good, the production was solid and the guest appearances were not shabby themselves. Beanie's flow is like vintage wine. It gets better with time. Listen to him now. He is a beast on the mic! Standout tracks: THE TRUTH, WHO WANT WHAT, REMEMBER THEM DAYS, MAC AND BRAD, WHAT YA LIFE LIKE, WHAT A THUG ABOUT and EVERYBODY WANNA BE A STAR.

Beanie Sigel's (AKA Dwight Grant) debut album was "The Truth" (2000). Sigel has had lots of drama in his life whether being incarcerated, dealing with ongoing cases, getting shot in the arm (yesterday) or dealing with and ending Hip Hop beef's (IE Jadakiss). On the opening title track Sigel tells his audience what his life and hood is like. Thugged out collaborations with Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z follow. Sigel, Amil and Hov provide a bouncy club track with "Playa". On "Everybody Wanna Be A Star" Sigel reflects on the lack of loyalty people have, and how people are solely out for themselves. Sigels drops some real lines about remaining genuine on this cut. Sigel's collaboration with Eve is another standout, backed by some laidback production; the two celebrate making it from rags to riches on the heartfelt "Remember Them Days". Sigel calls out the fakes on "Stop, Chill" while giving props to those who keep it real. The south's best Scarface drops in for a grimy collaboration in "Mac & Brad". Sigels delivers another cut about the streets and himself on "What A Thug About". Backed by some stellar production, Sigel provides a hardcore cut with "What Your Life Like". Sigel shows his love and loyalty for his homies on "Ride 4 My". My favorite track on this release is "Die", Sigel drops raw rhyme after rhyme while talking about all the different kinds of ways he may die. Jay-Z's half-decent bonus cut "Anything" finishes this album off. I prefer Sigel's later album's all the same "The Truth" is a solid album; I am looking forward to Sigel's next release.

Whether or not Sigel or this album spits the "Truth" its forever inevitiable, but you can never deny his lyrical skills on the mic. Sigel has always been the more talented recruit from Roc-A-Fella. With one killer cut, ("Truth"), produced by Kanye West, Sigel shows why he's a premier artist in the Hip-Hop game. Although this album does have it's short comings like many Roc-A-Fella releases, but the one's that shoutout greatness makes it more worthwhile to purchase this release.

This album comes up very short when compared with his debut album the Truth. Beanie doesn't spit for broke on all of the tracks. Plus most of the features did more harm than good. The production was miss for alot of the tracks and a few tracks are just skip material. He opened with a good track Nothing Like it and followed up pretty well with Beanie(Mack b****). That single is some of the reason I got the album. So what you saying feat. Bleek, they laid down some good verses over EPMD's classic "So What You Sayin". Bleek held his own but of course Beanie outshined him again on this one. Get down is another track I like over a gritty beat. Too bad after this one most of the tracks are very dry and I hardly ever bump them. Gangsta Gangsta is one of my favorites too. Beanie toss out a few good verses. Mom praying feat. Scarface is another track that I really feel. These two have yet to disappoint me when they get together. Still got love for you and What your life like 2 are some pretty deep tracks but not as moving for me and I rarely bump these too.

Watch your b******, Man's world, I don't do much. Are some very boring tracks with some weak delivery. Tales of a hustler is a very weak track with Beanie delivering the best verse.

This is Beanies weakest album to date. He redeemed himself with his later albums and next to them this is almost forgettable. This one doesn't get too many spins from me.

Beanie Sigel's first album The Truth was just that. Minus two songs it was Beanie's best effort at the time(The B-Coming being the best now). This album falls short for a couple of reasons. 1. The production was dry. 2. Beanie sounds pretty uninspired on here(with a few exceptions) 3. weak guest appearances(with the exception of Jay-z and Scarface). The Good: Nothing Like It was a good way to start off the album. Mom Praying with Scarface is a touching tribute to their mothers and I must admit that Scarface and Beanie are a kick a** combo. Still Got Love For You which features Jay-z is their explanation for Where Have You Been as Rell gives a pretty decent chorus for the song and What Your Life Like 2 is an awesome finish for the album because Beanie always excells when he makes his deep cuts. Honorable Mention: So What You Saying featuring Memphis Bleek. The Bad: I never liked his first single Beanie(Mack B****) and why would he pick such a weak single to be the first is very questionable to say the least. Get Down, I Dont Do Much, For My N*****(feat a wasted effort by Daz) and Think Its A Game(feat Jay-z, Freeway and Lil Chris) are all boring tracks that will work wonders for the most chronic insomniacs.
The Ugly: Tales Of A Hustler is butt and I dont know why the Roc signs wack signees like Sparks when songs like this prove that he is absolutely useless on the mic. Gangsta Gangsta(feat Kurupt) is Beanie's big offence and lazy rhymes like /enough with that cocky stuff/dont get smacked like a hockey puck/(come on Beans I know you can do better than that) make you wonder if he even tried to put effort into that song at all. Then again that's not his biggest offence. Watch Your B****** is! Man's World is another dull track with a poorly used James Brown(RIP) sample in the background as Beanie just spits with no effort. Bottom Line: The Reason is Beanie Sigel's worst album and how anybody can feel joints like Watch Your B******, I Dont Do Much and For My N***** is beyond me. Beanie apologized for this album before his third release came out and I heard this album way before that interview so I agree with him 100%. This album was not the best he can do but he shouldnt apologize because he made up for it with The B-Coming so all is forgiven. Just dont do it again.

Not to sound too critical, but this one was rather dissapointing, compared to his first release, "The Truth", now he has given us a reason why this LP is not as equally impressive as his previous work. Although it didn't really dissapoint overall, there is enough material to keep you going, for instance the introspective ("Nothing Like It") or the emotion-filled ("Mom's Praying") and ("I Still Got Love For You"), but that's not enough to save the whole album.

mayne diz cd is bangin along with "the truth" and "b-coming" but i bang this cd the most out of all 3 of em and imma be real i mostly listen to down south crunk type music but beanie sigel is bangin ya heard me ~1~

Since Sigel was in jail this was a great release for hungry Sigel fans who couldn't wait for his "B.Coming" album to drop. Packed with 25 songs/freestyles, Sigel tears it up. Of the 25, about 75% are freestyles or verses he uses on songs on his "The B.Coming", his 3rd solo album. Guests are on 9 of the songs, and one is a Peedi Crakk solo, so it does have a good amount of Sigel on here. It has 2 classics, 2 almost classics, no bad songs, and 4 are ok. A great album/mixtape to have for fans of the Broad Street Bully.

This mixtape is on fire and if u dont have it then u missing out on a great mixtape. DJ green lantern is the sh*t i recommend this cd to all people who like hardcore rap. Get it if u dont have it

As the official mixtape to the great LP, The B. Coming, the Public Enemy #1 Mixtape is incredible. This mixtape has the best production, best MC starring on a mixtape, and best mixtape DJ going (Green Lantern), to make this the best mixtape dropped last year. Now I know that Jadakiss & Green Lantern won the mixtape of year award for "The Champ is Here", which I also 'own', but I personally don't think it stacked up to everything Public Enemy #1 brought with it.

It brought Green Lantern and Beanie Sigel together in the basement, puttin there heads together and cypherin' through all these old records, comin up with not just the lastest ish out to ryde on top of, but ish from back in the day, the beats with soul, the beats that bring out the freestyle he already had in him, not the freestyle that you make because of the beat. That makes this mixtape more authentic. You are getting practically all new Beans lyrics. Either they were semi old freesytles, brand new freestyles, or lyrics that came out on the new LP, (which didn't drop till 6 months later). It is rare that the the DJ and the MC work so close together on a mixtape, and it shows on this mixtape, and I think that is what makes it the hottest on the streets. ITS THE ROC!

The Broad St. Bully is back with a new, short mixtape to hold us over until he drops his 4th solo, tentitively titled "The Bad Guy" (slated for a March, 2007 release). With only 10 songs, and most of them are reused verses (I recognize over half of them) just put over a different beat, you don't get much new material. Guests are on 8 of the 10 songs on here so not much new Sigel material but it's nice to hear from him anyways. Of the 10 songs, only 1 is real good, the other 9 are average to good, nothing great. Production is pretty good, nothing real special, Da Network does songs 3-10 & KP does songs 11 & 12. For his die hard fans I'd cop this otherwise I'd just wait a few months for his album to drop.

This is one of my fave albums period. The production is of the chain, and Beans really goes in all the way with this album.

This is a classic album. Beanie Sigel's most inspired work to date, which was released during his jail sentence. Real issues, real music, vintage Sigel.

I liked The Truth but The Reasonj was a lukewarm follow up album. Beanie apologized for that album but he shouldnt have to because he made up for it with this album. Feel It In The Air feat Melissa is a great first single. I Cant Go On This Way(feat Freeway and Young Chris) let you know that Beanie will still give you his all on a track. One Shot Deal is a hot match up with Redman as both Red and Beans spit heat over a tight beat by Bink. Change(feat Rell and Melissa Jay) and Look At Me Now are highlights also. Oh Daddy(feat Young Chris) and Bread & Butter(feat Saddat X and Grand Puba) are two dope tracks dedicated to trife chicks. Flatline(feat Peedi Peedi) and Its One(feat Jay-z) are two tracks with Beans spittin for broke and I like how him and Jigga go back and forth on the track. There are a few tracks that are weak. Purple Rain feat Bun B and Gotta Have It feat Twista and Peedi Peedi are stupid. I like the beat for Gotta Have It and Twista's verse was fire but Peedi's ring-ding-ding style of rapping gets on my nerves! Cam'ron should have been left of of Wanted(On The Run). Lord Have Mercy is boring and Tales Of A Hustler is ruined by Oschino & Sparks. Bottom Line: The B-Coming is an excellent redemption from an MC who has showed promise since he came in the game. Tight lyrics+ dope beats= One of 2005's best releases. Standout Tracks: FEEL IT IN THE AIR, I CANT GO ON THIS WAY, ONE SHOT DEAL, DONT STOP, OH DADDY, CHANGE, BREAD&BUTTER, FLATLINE, LOOK AT ME NOW, ITS ON, WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.

Without a doubt his best release so far... There's not much to say other than this is just one of those releases that when you pick it up you'll be glad you did. Beans lays down some hardcore lyrics on some powerfull beats. His credibility as an artist seems to keep expanding. He's been getting better as his albums go and I still haven't felt like he's lost any of his intensity from the begining of his career.

Man, this album was pretty good.....The beginning track, and single I can feel it in the air is a PERFECT opener for the album...THe Sample of "I can feel it in the air" and the lyrics sync VERY well with the track and just bring out an emotionally filled trak on here.....Other than that, productionz on POINT here, no weak beats on here....I think this is his most complete joint he's put out for real....Good lyrics, good concepts, good record, what more could you ask for? Def pick this up

I always enjoyed hearing Beans spit ever since his cut on the Hard Knock Life album. In fact, I always knew he was going to blow. Beanie brings a tight flow and mic presence that demands the listener to pay attention to every word. The album got some pretty good production. If anything brings this album down to me, it has to be two tracks with some very annoying beats.

Beanie brings some dope lyrics to the opening track The Truth. This is among one of my favorites. The second track Who Want what, Beanie floors Bleek on this one. But who doesn't outshine Bleek? Everybody else mentioned this one. The failed club banger Playa with Amil and Jay. And it's just that, a failed club banger. Speaking of Amil, I'll never forget Jayo Felony's diss on the ROC. When he called her a heroine junkie. That was funny. Anyway, very weak delivery from Amil and she was always the weakest link to me. Rememeber Them Days is really a track I can feel growing up poor. Eve's hook hits home to me, so this is my favorite track right here. Mac and Brad, Beanie and Scarface go back on forth over a tight beat. My second favorite is What your life like. I think this is the deepest track on here.

The weak tracks for me is definitly Mac Man. If it wasn't for the funny lyrics this would be skip material. I already mentioned the failed club banger. And Anything, I just cannot feel those tracks with the little kid hooks and beats. Nas "I Can" is the only exception. Other than that, the rest has been ear poison to me. This a hot album anyway you look at it. It's something I can still listen to on a regular.

Favorite tracks. Rememeber Them Days, What Your Life Like, The Truth, What A Thug About, Die, Stop and Chill.

There is two songs that stop this album from being a classic. Mac Man is garbage(the beat sounds like Pac Man on acid) and Playa feat Amil and Jay-z(failed club banger). Other than that this was a good debut from the Philadephia native. The Truth(his first single) starts off the album as Beanie rips it over a dope beat provided by Kanye. Memphis Bleek makes a decent appearance on Who Want What but Beanie stole the show. Scarface and Beanie are a superb match up and it shows in Mack And Brad). Jay-z makes another appearance on Raw & Uncut(decent) and his solo joint Anything(cool). Beanie also does well when he makes songs of substance like Remember Them Days(feat Eve), What Ya Life Like(which samples Hard Rain) and Everybody Wanna Be A Star(self-explanatory track). Beanie also knows when to switch up the flow(something alot of rappers have problems doing nowadays) on Stop, Chill. What A Thug About is basically explaining what a thug does. Ride 4 My and Die are pretty good tracks too. Bottom Line: The Truth is a promising debut for Beanie Sigel who is now a force to be reckoned with on the mic. The rhymes were good, the production was solid and the guest appearances were not shabby themselves. Beanie's flow is like vintage wine. It gets better with time. Listen to him now. He is a beast on the mic! Standout tracks: THE TRUTH, WHO WANT WHAT, REMEMBER THEM DAYS, MAC AND BRAD, WHAT YA LIFE LIKE, WHAT A THUG ABOUT and EVERYBODY WANNA BE A STAR.

Beanie Sigel's (AKA Dwight Grant) debut album was "The Truth" (2000). Sigel has had lots of drama in his life whether being incarcerated, dealing with ongoing cases, getting shot in the arm (yesterday) or dealing with and ending Hip Hop beef's (IE Jadakiss). On the opening title track Sigel tells his audience what his life and hood is like. Thugged out collaborations with Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z follow. Sigel, Amil and Hov provide a bouncy club track with "Playa". On "Everybody Wanna Be A Star" Sigel reflects on the lack of loyalty people have, and how people are solely out for themselves. Sigels drops some real lines about remaining genuine on this cut. Sigel's collaboration with Eve is another standout, backed by some laidback production; the two celebrate making it from rags to riches on the heartfelt "Remember Them Days". Sigel calls out the fakes on "Stop, Chill" while giving props to those who keep it real. The south's best Scarface drops in for a grimy collaboration in "Mac & Brad". Sigels delivers another cut about the streets and himself on "What A Thug About". Backed by some stellar production, Sigel provides a hardcore cut with "What Your Life Like". Sigel shows his love and loyalty for his homies on "Ride 4 My". My favorite track on this release is "Die", Sigel drops raw rhyme after rhyme while talking about all the different kinds of ways he may die. Jay-Z's half-decent bonus cut "Anything" finishes this album off. I prefer Sigel's later album's all the same "The Truth" is a solid album; I am looking forward to Sigel's next release.

Whether or not Sigel or this album spits the "Truth" its forever inevitiable, but you can never deny his lyrical skills on the mic. Sigel has always been the more talented recruit from Roc-A-Fella. With one killer cut, ("Truth"), produced by Kanye West, Sigel shows why he's a premier artist in the Hip-Hop game. Although this album does have it's short comings like many Roc-A-Fella releases, but the one's that shoutout greatness makes it more worthwhile to purchase this release.
