OK, first things first. I disagree when one of the other reviewers said that "I Dream" isn't very good. I love it, but that doesn't mean he/she is wrong. Everyone has a right to opinion. Also, for some weird reason, all of Billie's singles (Because We Want To, Girlfriend, She Wants You, Last Christmas, Honey To The Bee, Day & Night, Something Deep Inside and Walk of Life) were included on this album except Last Chrsitmas. Why? Oh well, this album is brilliant. It has 3 different front covers (this one is the 2nd one. The other 2 have white backrounds, the 1st one has the text displayed differently and the 3rd one has no text at all. I've got the 3rd cover), 15 tracks (7 singles, 4 B-Sides, 3 Exclusive B-Sides and 1 unreleased single) and some editions come with a poster of this cheeky cover.

I listen to this CD often. What can I say, its Billie Piper. Shes great.

Yes, I'm a "Doctor Who" fan and, yes, I didn't know a thing about Billie Piper until I saw her take off in the TARDIS with Christopher Eccleston as Rose Tyler. Still, her acting skills and (let's be honest here) her looks interested me enough to seek out all things Billie. What I found was a surprisingly good pop singing career that appears to have burned out all too quickly. I don't consider myself a huge pop music fan, but I do enjoy some of it. I like the old stuff I grew up with in the 80's, as well as a few artists that my daughter listens to. She has me listening to bubblegummers like Ashley Tisdale, Miley Cyrus, and Everlife. She's also a "Who" fan like me and absolutely adores Rose Tyler. With this in mind, I nabbed "The Best of Billie" hoping to somehow tie these two interests together. It worked.

Piper's music, like most pop, is easily digestable. It isn't quite as forgettable as some of her contemporaries though. The album opens up with the very Spice Girl sounding tunes "Because We Want To" and "Girlfriend." Although I like "Girlfriend," "Because We Want To" does grate my nerves a bit. It's definitely a tune for the younger set, and my daughter loves to sing along with it. The real gems on this album for me are "Tide Is High" (which my daughter has dubbed her favorite), "Day & Night," "First Love" and "Walk of Life." My personal favorite is the soul-lite popper, "Honey To The Bee." I can honestly say that this album sounds better each time I listen to it. That's a rare thing for me to say about a pop album.

I do hope that Billie decides to make another album somewhere down the line. She appears to have survived her teen pop star years unscathed, and definitely increased her popularity (at least among us geeks) when she stepped out of the blue police call box. I recommend this album to pop and dance fans as well as anybody who's interested in Billie's career outside of acting.

If your looking for good clean, a little more mature, POP music that still appeals to the young and young at heart then Billie is it. This CD covers all her greatest hits.

Wow! Everything on this single is awesome! The title track is the best song off her second album, although it did not have much success on the charts as "Day & Night". The B-side, "First Love" is a great ballad that could have been a single itself, very mature and Billie-ish...

The remix is also well worth it, an intelligent work of art! It is a little less RnB-ish than the radio version, and more orchestral. The vocals have not been taken from the original version and then glued to the new arrangements. The music is different, and so are the vocals.

The video is very nice, the setup is beautiful and the choreography is great. One of my all-time favorite videos!

This single is a great buy on all aspects! Nothing about "Something Deep Inside" will leave you disappointed... A well-deserved five stars for Billie!

When Billie first burst on the scene a couple of years ago with 'Honey to the B', we all thought that she was a Princess in training to be Queen someday. No such luck.

Her latest new single, is both musically and lyrically vapid. Gone are her good looks too. The CD ROM section of the disc shows you that her new look for the video doesnt at all work. This from the woman who stunned all of us with her masterful rendering of 'She wants you', transforming it into an instant gay club hit? Unpardonable.

Dont get me wrong. As a pop single, this song shines. Its much better than most stuff by the Spice Girls , even. But as a release from someone of the calibre of Billie Piper, it is of poor quality. Lets hope her next releases save this one from blackening her name!

Billie Piper's follow up to her sugary-sweet 'Honey To The B' was an awesome step-forward in a mature direction and sound. While the songs on 'Honey To The B' were fluffier and were more watered down, fun bubble gum pop songs, 'Walk Of Life' took Billie in a more creative direction on her part and took some control over the writing and recording on this album. Billie wanted something that was something she could truly call her own and sing something from her heart, which is what she did with the majority of this album.

The album dropped 2 years after the release of 'Honey To The B' and its amazing what a big difference 2 years can make. 'Walk Of Life' features a rawer, and club thumping sound but at the same time enters a more soulful direction while maintaining a bit of the bubble gum elements on her first album.

'Walk Of Life' opens with a bang, the first single 'Day & Night'. I think if this song was released in the United States at the time it could have blown Britney's 'Oops!...I Did It Again' right out of the water. This was the perfect first single, it sounds like it has a bit of a rock-edge to it. Very raw sounding. 10/10

Up next is 'Something Deep Inside'. This is actually the remix of the song featured on the album. I think the original version is more fun and catchy; if you can find it on download, I'd recommend you do so because you have no idea what you are missing. However, the remix isn't too bad, if you listen to it in ear phones it sounds like it is tickling your ear. Not a bad second single. 9/10

'Walk Of Life' is Billie's final single from the album, and so far, it is her last since she quit music and began to blossom as an actress in the UK. It didn't do very well like her previous singles, which is too bad considering it is also the title track of the album. This song sounds like it has a bit of a gospel touch, it has an overall different feel than the rest of the album but I still think it's a great song. Her voice is amazing on this song and her vocals really stand out. 8/10

'Safe With Me' is a beautiful ballad, this is one of those songs that sort of maintains the sugary fluff off her first album, only with a more mature approach. It's wonderful. 7/10

The next song 'Bring it On', often find myself skipping over it, I hate it and its annoying. 0/10

'Ring My Bell' is, yet another one that maintains some bubble gum-sound because it is cheesy and corny lyrically but at the same time, you can't help but love it, it's like a guilty pleasure. 8/10

'The Tide Is High' is a cover of the Blondie song, which many people have done. I never cared for the Blondie version; I actually thought the song was irritating whenever I heard it. There's something about Billie's version that I love, maybe it's how she put her own twist on the track and made it more upbeat and fun. Not bad I give it 8/10.

'Run That By Me' seems like a bit of a filler and its not that great, it's OK. I guess it depends on your mood, not a bad pop song, but not great either. 5/10

'Promises', I remember when I first heard this track for some reason it reminded me of the theme song from 'Dawson's Creek'. It should be noted I hated that song, but 'Promises' is a more soulful sound for Billie in my opinion and its definitely different, like the song 'Walk Of Life', it brings a whole different light to the whole album that really makes it stand out. 6/10

'Because Of You' is kind of a sexual song. Really grown-up sounding for Billie as you never really heard her sing something like this previously. It's also raw sounding and has a bit of an R&B twist to it if you ask me, a great track. It's not overly sexual, but it has its references. 8/10

'What Game Is This', an angry but some what cheesy song about Billie being pissed after finding out her man cheated on her. I love it, probably one of my favourite tracks on the whole album. 10/10

The final track on the album, 'Misfocusing' is probably the most serious, and sad side of Billie we had never seen or heard before. The lyrics are deep and the way Billie sings it, she sings with a lot of emotion and its one of the key stand-out tracks on the album. I think that it's the perfect way to cap 'Walk Of Life', especially after Billie decided to quit the music industry and secretly dealt with some of her personal demons that had been haunting her at the time that the general public really had no idea about until she released her autobiography. 10/10

All in all, 8 years on - this album is still one of the best pop releases to come out of the early 2000s and its too bad Billie no longer makes music as she did have the talent and the skill to not just sing great pop songs, but also write her own music and express herself to a creative extent during her pop star days. She probably won't be remembered as a musician in 50 years or so, her songs will (if not already) probably fade into the background and be forgotten about which is too bad because these are pop songs that do have the potential to age and stand the test of time.

If you come by this album by off chance - I'd recommend you grab it, its one of the best albums from the early 2000s. She may not sing anymore, but Billie will always be worth it, if you're a fan of Dr.Who, you can't be a fan without being curious as to what great pop songs she created before she became known as an actress.

Sad that she quit just when she was making a turn in the right direction musically, and taking some control over her own career. Her voice and sound had matured in a positive way, she proved she can write great pop songs and not rely on other writers to do so for her and I do believe had she stuck around she would be just as successful next to the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Billie Piper first surfaced as just Billie back in 1999 with her debut set HONEY TO THE B, which was coincidentally released after Britney Spears' debut and just prior to Christina Aguilera's freshman disc. However, as everyone knows(or more precisely DOESN"T know), she got lost in the shuffle--HONEY TO THE B saw absolutely no action other than in her native UK, where is was fairly successful. Now we have WALK OF LIFE, her second release, which was released internationally save for the US. Which is too bad, because it's a better record than her debut and goes to show why European pop music is often infinitely better than that of its' US counterparts. Granted, the album's first two tracks,'Day and Night' and 'Something Deep Inside', cater a little too willingly to the Britney/BSB formula, but once you get past that it's pretty smooth sailing.The title track is first-rate pop, and the exquisite 'Safe With Me' is a definite keeper. And if nothing else here quite reaches those heights, at least she manages to fill out the rest of the album with some pretty solid tunes(and her cover of Blondie's 'The Tide Is High', though bereft of its' reggae touches, isn't nearly as bad as those covers Britney keeps force-feeding us). Fans of great pop should do some further investigating.

The first two singles are the first two songs on the album. "Day & Night" has a suspiciously BSB sound, what with the power pop chords pounded out like "Backstreet's Back" and "Larger Than Life". That makes me cringe, but the chorus and the reminder that it is a British popster doing it alleviates my gut. As for "Something Deep Inside", her voice is Britneyesque, as is the chorus and styling, comparable to Britney's songs.

Listening to the title track reminds me once more how British pop is superior to American pop, as I mentioned in my Kylie reviews.
This is the sort of music that could've saved the Spice Girls in the post-Geri era. I don't know if this dreamy, keyboard-oriented song is planned as a single, but if it is, good move!

"Ring My Bell" not the Gloria Gaynor disco hit, is a mid-paced number that has Billie dipping into the Spice Girls' filler cupboard from Spice and adding a Christmas tree worth of keyboards, while "Run That By Me" has her tearing a page from the book of All Saints.

Her cover of Blondie's "The Tide Is High" is done tastefully, with some male rap dialogue interspersed within and a Phil Spectorish wall of sound discernable. My favorite on this album, with "Walk Of Life" close at #2.

The over-reliance of the layered wall to wall backing chorus does not give Billie's vocal talents a chance to shine through as they did on her previous effort.

Answer: In some places, Miss Piper does sound Britneyesque, but overall, she has her stylings and personality.

The main reason to pick up this CD of Billie Piper's first single off the "Walk of Life" CD is the simply killer video. Some of her other videos had a cheesy, low-budget feel to them, but Day & Night got a much better treatment. The dancing she does here will just knock you out, and the whole production has a hip, stylish look that has stood the test of time surprisingly well. The visuals have an edgy, urban vibe, and Piper conveys a confident sex appeal that belies her 17 (at the time) years. Unlike the video for "Something Deep Inside," this one doesn't stray into semi-pornographic territory.

The two remixes will be of interest to serious Piper fans--the "Bombastic" mix in particular is a lot of fun.

Now, I have to admit I have never really been a big fan of Billie Piper. I have her first album, but I never was a huge fan. I just liked some of her songs. When she dated Ritchie from Five (who I was obsessed with at the time), I hated her. But now I like her again. This single is her best yet.
"Day and Night" is an upbeat catchy little number with a killer chorus that sounds great on the radio. I didn't like it at all when I first heard it, but it's grown on me.

The single itself is pretty bland. It has the Stargate mix, which also doubles as the radio edit and two other mixes. The interesting part of the single is the video and picture gallery. The video features Billie and her girlfriends dancing in a club first, then in a laundromat throwing the washing powder around. The best part of the video is at the end when you can see Billie's underwear as she walks away, hehe (I am a girl, not a pervy guy! I find that funny).

I gave this single 4 stars because of the video and song itself. Billie is due to return to the pop music scene soon, and I hope she does a song like this or I might not like her.

The gal's got more streetcred than Posh Spice & Brad Pitt put together. This song is so confidently written & pperformed you would not believe it was a 17yr old performing. Makes Britney positively puerile & has a killer chorus & video that the likes of Madonna & Janet Jackson would even envy. A well-deserved UK No1 (her 3rd, hence paralleling her with Britney) & having just bought her new album today, Billie Piper shall be respected!

The tracks are great and all, but I just can't see the video & others no matter what I do! Something to think about before buying this single if you're buying it just for the video.

This is a fairly rare single (CD2) of Billie Piper's "Day and Night," featuring the b-sides "Tinted Eyes" and a D&N remix called "The Friday Hope Mix." The cover photo is a close-up of the photo used on the CD1 release of this single, and the back cover photo shows Billie from the back, head-to-knees. There's also a very nice gatefold photo showing Billie in one of her costumes from the D&N video. The single also includes a 10" x 13" promo poster of the cover photo.

To muddy things even more for collectors, there was yet a third "stripped down" single released for D&N: the covers are identical to CD1, but the disk only includes D&N and "Tinted Eyes." There's no posters, no remixes, no videos, etc., just the single itself and one b-side.

In short, there are three singles for "Day and Night" that I've identified:
--CD1 includes two remixes and the video
--CD2 includes one remix, "Tinted Eyes," a gatefold sleeve and promo poster
--Stripped down CD2 includes only the single and "Tinted Eyes"

CD2 is definitely worth checking out for collectors. "Tinted Eyes" is a very solid ballad, one of Piper's stronger b-sides and a nice compliment to the single. The Friday Hope remix is different from the other two remixes but still recognizably "Day and Night." Of all Piper's single releases, I found this one the most difficult to track down, so it may take some diligent searching to acquire.

I love this song so much! And any 5ive fan has got to give her props for landing Rich (for a while anyway). I'd recomend it for anyone thats sick of Britney and Christina 'cause the Brits just do it better!

I'm not big of a Billie fan, but I find this song okay. I think it's totally different from her previous singles. She's more mature now. If Day and Night wont do well in the US, nothing will.

This single is amazing! If you like her first ambum then this is a must. The song is a little bit of dance/pop/rock and is very energized. This one is the definite choice if you're a Billie fan.

Well, I'm an Aussie. I'm going to get this single for Christmas Eve. In Australia, the single was released as one CD. The "Steel & Holiday" Mix and the exclusive B-Side "First Love" (Don't panic, First Love was deatured on "The Best Of Billie") are replaced with the "Motiv8" Remix (A Truly Brilliant Remix) and the "Hex Hector" Mix of Honey To The Bee (I've got the single for Britney's "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" and Hex Hector is a very good remixer). The Australian single still has the Radio Mix (the original song is download-only), the G-A-Y Mix and the - not that great - Bold and Beutifal Mix. I recommend the Australian single over the UK Single because you can get all the great tracks on one CD, instead of 2 seperatly-sold CDs. Also, this single is of higher quality. Oh, and the Australian single still has the enhanced Video from CD1 of the UK Single.
