I bought this CD for the song"She Wouldn't Be Gone". The rest of the songs are good as well. Blake has a very nice voice.

I liked all of Blake's albums.But,this is by far the best.Too bad he doesn't come with the album. Sincerely,Linda M.Stelly

There are very few artists that have the kind of voice you can just sit back and enjoy no matter what they're singing about- artists such as Tim McGraw, George Strait, or Third Day's Mac Powell. The number of catchy hit songs produced from Blake Shelton in such a short time, whether it be the humorous "Some Beach," the heartfelt "Goodbye Time" or "Don't Make Me," the overwhelmingly successful cover of Michael Buble's "Home," or the story of "Ol' Red," qualified Blake Shelton to be one of those vocalists potentially- and his newest release, Startin' Fires, absolutely confirms it as far as I'm concerned. Of the twelve tracks on the CD, the only one I would write off as one I dislike is the final song on the album, "Bare Skin Rug," cowritten and performed by Shelton and his better half, Miranda Lambert- for the sheer fact that it's just a weird song and is a little TMI in my opinion. Now that my one gripe is out of the way, let's get to the good stuff, or the whole rest of the album, in other words.

The first track, "Green," is a typical hillbilly song about the "hundred-acre farm" and the "John Deere in my Barn," and discusses the "green" trend that has found its way into every part of our lives today, whether it's a car, a bottle of water, or even a pair of shoes, with the best lines in the song being "Nowadays, I'm an innovator; I'm a country boy prognosticator" and "I know a lot more about cane-pole fishin' than I ever will about carbon emissions." The song links the whole "green" trend to the farmboy lifestyle by letting us know that farmers have been "green" long before corporate America decided it would be a good idea. The next song, the title track, discusses that perfect woman that turns every head in the room and the pride that comes with knowing she's yours and no one else can touch her, but comes with a somewhat cheesy refrain, which includes the lines, "Yeah, maybe baby's gotten good at startin' fires/But I'm the only one, ain't no doubt, the only one who puts 'em out."

The first radio single from the album, "She Wouldn't Be Gone," is one of Shelton's biggest songs to date and puts us in the shoes of a man who is literally driving himself crazy because the girl he loves left her. The theme has been overdone time and time again, but Shelton somehow brings a fresh perspective on it and his seemingly real emotion comes out in the song and on the music video.

"100 Miles" is easily my favorite track on the album, and also picks up the theme of a significant other who is gone, but this time asks for forgiveness and details what will be done to right the wrongs committed. Again, Shelton sings the song with powerful emotion, which is my favorite part about the song.

Other great songs include "Country Strong," another sure-fire country boy anthem, along with "Home Sweet Home," a song cherishing the place and lifestyle in which he was raised, "Here I Am," a song about a guy who meets a girl by chance and mostly against his will, but ends up falling in love with her, and "I Don't Care," a song borrowed from Shelton's previous album, Pure BS. I think there are only three more tracks I didn't list, but only for the sake of not droning on and on- the entire CD is absolutely remarkable and is a must for fans of country and especially for even just the casual Blake Shelton fan.

Blake has a voice that you can listen to over and over again and he does not disappoint with his new CD. #4-I'll just hold on and #10-Here I am are my personal favorites. I will always be a faithful Blake fan and I'm sure the other fans out there will agree this is just another great CD from him.

Blake returns with a new album after releasing pure BS and more pure Bs ( a reissue ), a great collection of songs with his performance generally improving from album to album. Not much in the way of homours sing-a-longs rather a more mature album. Only one hiccup, one song has been carried over from the both BS albums - not sure why - in the uk we normally don't get to hear country singles so perhaps its a crossover track, on the otherhand its a good song so newcomers get to enjoy it.I would recommend this album and look forward to future releases.

I think this guy is terrific. He definitely has his own distinctive style. Thats' not easy to attain I believe in C & W music. I predict he'll be an even bigger star as the years go by. This CD is classic Blake Shelton. If you've enjopyed his other albums, you'll love this one as well.

Every song on this CD tells me why Blake is one of my favorite performers! Love his smooth style.

This is my first Blake Sheldon album and I loved it. I think HOME is such a great song. I also loved all the songs he sang with Miranda.

We saw Blake Shelton in concert and LOVED it. This CD is almost as good. We just love Austin. The CD was in very good condition.

This CD contains less evidence of Blake's "signature wit" than his other projects. But Blake's high energy and incredible storytelling (and guitar playing) ability is showcased beautifully throughout. His sentimentality on is display in "Austin" - I'd love to adapt it for my own answering machine. And "Ol' Red" is a rugged and touching effort, as well. This is a great CD from the artist who made me take another look at country music! I'll have to learn to two-step.

This prompted me to borrow every one of his CDs from the library. WOW! And I am NOT a country music fan! Well, maybe now I am... Blake's humor (and tender heart) comes through loud and clear in his music.

This is a birthday gift for my 11 year old daughter who thinks that "Ol' Red" is the greatest song of all time. I can't wait to see her face when she opens this!

This is my first purchase of Blake Shelton's work. I bought it for one cut, "Some Beach," but just about every song is great.

I bought this cd for 1 song, but I ended up loving the whole cd. I would recommend this cd for any country music fan.

This CD just gets better and better every time I listen to it. When the last song ends, I just have to start it over again. And then, I play it again and again and again - It's that good!!The songs are all really great and so fun to listen to. "Some Beach", "Cotton Pickin' Time", "Nobody But Me", "On A Good Day", "Goodbye Time", "What's On My Mind" - All of them are just addictive. You can't stop yourself from listening to them over and over.

His sentimentality on display in "The Baby" brought tears to my eyes. This is another great CD from the artist who made me take another look at country music!

Really enjoy Blake Shelton. His song "The Baby" reminds me of my younger son.I would recommend this cd.

The only reason I gave this album two stars is "The Baby." As a Blake Shelton fan, I was very let down by this album.

Great Songs, wish I had the version with HOME on it, but I will download that to ipod. Still a great album without it.

I got this cd because I was at the store and this was the only cd they had that I didn't already own, and looked pretty intersting. I liked Blake Shelton, especially Don't Make Me, so I thougth, why not?

And I'm glad I did!

I didn't care for it all that much at first, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it, and now it's one of my favorite albums.

My favorites are What I wouldn't Give and I Have Been Lonely, but I love all the songs on the cd.

Perfect cd if you have ever loved someone and endured the breakup. Love this cd!!! This is my very favorite of Blake's and I have them all!!! He is an amazing singer with an incredible voice.
Wish he had more airplay on some of these songs. Every song is a hit to me.

Can't believe it's 2006 and I only heard this song for the first time. I didn't get into country 100% until about 2005...althought I had always enjoyed it from 1999 on. Heard this song through one of my best friends and just bawled. Heard it a 2nd time and bawled. Heard it a third time and cried. I don't cry as much when I hear it now (I've listened to it probably 40 times since hearing it 2-3 weeks ago...)...although I still get choked up and moved. Goodness, I even cried on about the 30th time. what a beautiful song, hopeful, amazing. Agreed with everything said about Blake and his voice. I'm going to find all his other music and catch up on what I have been missing!!!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

Dear lord...never since George Strait's "I Cross My Heart" (which is how I got into country music in the first place and the second cd I ever bought - I have over 500 now) have I been so moved by a song such as Austin. In depth and tone Blake easily surpasses George Strait's voice. It mesmerised me from the get-go and I suppose you could say that I fell in love at first guitar-lick. If anyone gives this song LESS than 5 stars, you don't deserve to have ears.

My Husband and I both LOVE to hear it.. We have been trying to find it to buy..(Finality Got It) It has a lot of meaning to his words. Hope it goes to the TOP... Would rate it more than 5 .. It's AWESOME>>>>AWESOME>>>

I have been a big fan of country music for years. I have heard alot of songs that have touched me. But this song brought back some feelings that I thought I had worked though. But when I heard it I could not help but cry. It made my heart ache for the love I have lost. It is so beautiful.

I absolutely love this song. I heard it for the first time on the radio last night and I was moved to tears. I can't wait for the album to come out.
