The limited edition package is just beautiful. In a black canvas bound "book", the titles and artwork are drawn in a type of gold filagre. The gatefold cover opens to a bookelt with photos and tells a story. The pictures are beautiful and tell the story of the oxidising angel. This edition also offers a bonus track "Change The Future" and the video to "The Oxidising Angel". The bizzare thing is the video, although similar, is different than the photo book.


My favorite track on the cd is "Falling". The vocals are close to the chilliness Gary Numan has...deep, rich...and cold.....and it's story is just as chilling. It's about non-emotioal commitment...being together....but not in spirit....a relationship without love....all with a cold synth hook and a driving, pulsing beat.

Now I plan to find a way to take care of the special packaging as to not damage it.

Okay. So i heard about Blutengel (Blood Angel for thouse who don't know German that much) on Amazon, just browsing, looking for new stuff. Read the song titles, not a bad cover, sort of Marilyn Manson-ish, nice art direction. Okay so far. But like what people say "Don't judge a book by its cover". Boy was this true.

Call me a fan of all sorts of music, from the classics beethoven, jazz, rock, pop, dance, techno, etc etc. Even 'new age' appeals to me sometimes. Blutengel is a good group. But their brand of music i can only label them as... well... VERY european techno-dance with unpoetic lyrics. Not to blame them for they command in English but in my opinion they should hire a new translator.

The sound samples are very good. Trust me, but the arrangement is rather too... happy, to upbeat. To add more salt, the male vocalist's voice as well as the girls don't fit the type of upbeat, happy-ish music.

Gregorian + Crash Test Dummies (vocals) + Lemon Jelly = Blutengel. They like to be dark, but unfortunately they still haven't begun to touch the gray area.

Great effort, try again.

Wow the cd is amazing! At first I heard the single for the cd "Oxidisng Angel" and just 30 second samples of every other song, by itself the song "Oxidising Angel" was worth my money but the 30 second samples just don't do justice when I heard them I actually thought of returning the CD as soon as I got it, but luckily I didn't. This is my analysis of the cd:

3. Burning Heaven (10/10 Good Lyrics and Vocals)
4. Little Love, A (10/10 I love it because we all feel this wat)

6. Angels Of The Dark - (Lost Area remix) (10/10 Reminded me of Vampire Romance)
7. Falling - (Angelus Mortus remix)(10/10 Just Love it)
8. Navigator - (Noxx/Rilinger remix, with Sara Noxx) (10/10 I loved Sara Noxx's seductive voice it adds a lot to the song IMHO)
9. Oxidising Angel, The - (Control System remix) (7/10 All right not really necessary)
10. Leave The Day - (Crystal Tears remix) (10/10 Great for a rave but that is the hole CD)

I am a relatively new fan to Blutengel. I have only heard one of their songs a couple of years ago. I have always wanted to get one of their cds but their music was only available as an import and the prices weren't exactly cheap. Blutengel finally got US distribution for their latest album "The Oxidising Angel". I recently received a copy of the band's new album and I immediately fell in love with the band's brand of EBM. The cd kicks off with a major punch with the title track. The song is propelled by a fierce synth hook and aggressive electronic beats. Chris Pohl's dark, rich vocals gives the entire album an atmospheric sound. His voice is complimented by his two backing female vocalists. After hearing this cd, it would be hard not to recognize Chris Pohl's beautiful voice. The band does an amazing interpretation of "Cry Little Sister" from the campy vampire flick "The Lost Boys". That song along certainly makes buying "The Oxidising Angel" worth the money. Then there is the gorgeous piano ballad "A Little Love". "Leave the Day" returns the album to that fast paced beat that the title track. My very favorite track is "Angels of the Dark". It is very catchy and is worthy of constant replay on the stereo or on my computer at work. Great dance song. Same with "Navigator". The synth beats on all of the songs are crisp and melodic. It is getting rarer and rarer nowadays to find a cd that is completely flawless. The production is immaculate. The vocals are clear and not bogged down by samples or poor production. The songs are addictive and should be listened to at top volume. If you like bands like Icon of Coil, VNV Nation, and (old) Apoptygma Berzerk, "The Oxidising Angel" is certainly worth checking out.

on this release from Germany's Blutengel. While the previous release was more towards the violent part of vapirism in death and love, this release leans more towards the romantic side of bloodletting. Dark and intricate, this cd has more of a classical feel than previous releases. "Stranded" is a highly danceable track with Chris Pohl's rich vocals. He improves with each Blutengel release. What an amazing, brilliant talented man.


Things slow down a bit and take a dark, creepy electronic turn with Chris's rich vocals in a claustrophobic mix in "The End Of Love". He sings ".and every night I feel like crying...what's the reason...tell me why should I stay..."

The screaming synths return in a great EBM piece called "Iron Heart"

The females in the group take over again in "Our Time" with purring synths Blutengel has used before. Tha is one of the odd charms about Blutengel. The group changes slightly from album to album, sometimes recyling the same sounds, but it always sounds fresh and new.

"Vampire Romance Part II" has an Excorcist type piano hook that will leave your foot tapping.

I highly recommend this cd.

Blutengel has returned with another pair of cd singles and remixes worth your $$

The true gem on the disc is the third song "Not Too Late" featuring Chris Pohl's rich vocals, a dancable beat, jittering synth hook and a soaring back synth line.

Blutengel is my favorite band at the moment which has been just a year since I have started listening to them. Their music is somewhere between goth, ebm, and industrial music. "My Saviour" is the band's latest effort. It is a 23 minute long EP. The EP consists of three new songs and two remixes:

1. My Saviour
2. Verdammnis
3. My Saviour (Cephalgy remix)
4. My Saviour (Unholy remix by Adam)
5. In Winter

"My Saviour" is the most aggressive track on the cd with its fast pace dance beats. It's a pretty good song with the high energy EBM beats but the melody is somehow lacking compared to "Verdammnis" and "In Winter". The remixes to "My Saviour" are really good. I especially like the Cephalgy mix which slows down the beats down a bit and turns the song into a ballad (almost). The Unholy remix was good too but there wasn't anything new that the remixer added. The song sounded like it was all scratched up.

As for the other two songs "Verdammnis" and "In Winter", they were great. They stood out more with me than "My Saviour" and its remixes. I especially love the gorgeous ballad "In Winter". Chris Pohl is easily the sexiest male singer with his deep baritone voice and it shows on "In Winter". American Idol's Taylor Hicks has nothing on Chris Pohl, much less have any talent. "Verdammnis" is a catchy EBM number not too different from the likes of "Navigator" and "Angels of the Lost (Lost Area Remix)".

It is too bad that I can't find Blutengel's music in stores and have to buy their stuff online. Thankfully "My Saviour" is pretty cheap unlike their earlier albums. "My Saviour" is definitely a must have for Blutengel fans.

Of all the BLUTENGEL releases this is by far the best one from my point of view. It is very dancey ebm-pop, not a mellow or slow song here and every song has incredible hooks and melodies.

This cd is awesome..It has some of the best tracks being listened all around the clubs.Especially the title album track is all the money...

it's ok if you like blutengel but its not worth paying twentyfive or twentynine dollars for it six songs five of them are forever and one evclusiver song four are remix's of the song forever from demon kiss your better off buying that cd then this one.but like i have said if you love blutengel and you must have it then buy it.

I have 2 other BlutEngel CDs and this is the best to date. If you're not familiar with the band it's a great introduction to them. If you ARE familiar with them and liked their previous work, then you should have already clicked the buy button. If you didn't like their previous stuff, well you still might like this one because they've grown musically. They're a lot more fluid these days. Gone, for the most part, are the awkward part of their music and lyrics.

The album very melodic and beautiful. "Shame" is my favorite track. If you like gothy music that is. It's also a slight bit EBMish which is nice because I'm not a goth. The female vocals are what really drew me in.

I don't rate many albums a 5, but this one is perfect, even with its few quirks.

Blutengel had me worried with their previous release, the EP "The Oxidising Angel," but I am pleased to announce that Labyrinth is a high quality release, combining the early goth/darkwave sounds of Angel Dust and also the more "pop" sounds of Demon Kiss. This is both an excellent introduction to the band for new fans and also a satisfying release for Blutengel veterans. A very catchy yet dark electo album!!!!

In two years, Blutengel has quickly rose to the top of my favorite goth/industrial bands. The combination of male and female vocals set to infectious pop melodies and crisp synthesized beats has given me immense joy. Chris Pohl and company recently released their latest album LABYRINTH. This is the first album featuring new member Ulrike Goldmann. LABYRINTH did not fail to disappoint me. The music is filled with addictively catchy pop hooks and throbbing dance beats that is guaranteed to get anyone on to the dancefloor. Ulrike is a great addition to the band. She sings lead vocals on quite a few songs through out the album, some of my favorite songs on the album includes her on lead vocals. Of course Constance Rudert's presence can be heard on hte album like on "Singing Dead Men" and "Sunrise". Chris sounds great as ever. As usual, his lyrics are filled with vampire-related themes. There were a couple of songs that were only so-so to me but for the most part I love LABYRINTH. I really love how much more of a prominent role female vocals have on the album than on past albums. Great album.

Chris Pohl has so many things going that it is a welcome thing he had time to relase another full length cd for Blutengel {Blood Angel in German}


The vampire coven feel is still pretty string here on this release. The female members in the group are more prevelant here than on past releases. A few of the songs forge into the electro/ ebm field...but most are pretty electronically gothic and at a slightly slower past. The harmonies are richer than ever...and some of the songs will hook in your mind.

I purchased the special edition not offered here on Amazon yet. It is a beautiful tin box with Chris Pohl's picture on the front. It opens to 2 cd's...one the original release, and the second is 7 remixes, b-sides, live versions. There are 2 booklets, one for the original cd, and the other for the box set. There is a nice sticker, and a portrait card, plus a booklet of other releases available.

This release in more in tune with Angel Dust

I recently got into Blutengel when I heard their latest effort "The Oxidising Angel" (3 new songs plus a few remixes). I immediately fell in love with Chris Pohl's deep, hypnotic voice. Two of my favorite songs on the cd is "Angels of the Dark" and "Navigator" which led me to buy their last studio effort "Demon Kiss". Needless to say I was not disappointed in what I heard. "Demon Kiss" is 75 minutes of aural bliss. The music is a seductive blend of goth, EBM, and industrial. I aboslutely love the original version of "Angels of the Dark" which is slightly slower than the remixed version on "The Oxidisng Angel" yet remains as intoxicatingly infectious. What I love most about Blutengel is how danceable and melodic their music is. It did not take much for me to become a tremendous fan of the German band. Most of the songs on "Demon Kiss" consists of clean vocals but there are a few tracks where Chris Pohl's vocals turns gruff like on "Love Killer". It is different hearing Chris growl but I liked it. One of my personal favorite songs on the album is the gorgeous piano ballad "Stay". That song simply took my breathe away. I could not find one song on "Demon Kiss" that I did not like. All of the songs are great.

If you like EBM/Industrial/DarkWave music you gotta have the CDs from Blutengel !!!! Chris's singing is extremyl cool while the female vocals could be better but still are good ! The individual tracks danceable and relaxable ! There are 3 other albums out from Blutengel, each one better than this debupt album (while child of glass still rocks !), whihc are "Seelenschmerz" (THE BEST ALBUM!!!), "Angel Dust" and "Demon Kiss" .
If you get a chance of seeing Blutengel live, go for it !! Their live show is unlike any other, extremly cool with lotsa things happening , lots of performance and pyro :)

I agree with hexerin, the lyrics do not vary and I am constantly finding grammatical errors in both their English and German errors (I'm part German also). Some of their songs could have been a lot better had they proofread them, but I guess it's for rhyme sake that they are that way. Anyway, enough ranting about one of my favorite goth bands...I bought this cd after Hearing "No God" and got hooked. Chris' voice is absolutely stunning and great to listen to no matter what language he's singing in. The same goes for the female vocalists; they are strong and suit the theme of vampires and death quite well. From their haunting instrumental tunes to their catchy dark lyrics, if you love goth/vampiric music, their cd's are a must have for your collection no matter what the cost! Here's a breakdown of may favorite songs:

5. Das Blut Der Ewigkeit (The Blood of Eternity): a dark techno-style chant that has a vampiric edge to it
8. Du Tanzt (You Dance): this dark song makes me dance every time
10. No God: this song has a bit of techno bits and borders on industrial with some interesting lyrics
13. Demon Of Temptation: this dark tune had me dancing with its slow then upbeat transformation throughout the song

I own about three Blutengel CDs and I like them all. Blutengel's sound is haunting, beautiful, and addictive. It always surprises me how well the music is produced, mixed and put together.
However, the thing that tends to get annoying to the point where I sometimes either start laughing, or turn the CD off are the lyrics. Being German and living in America, I consistently notice the lack of creativity, sense and the grammar errors in some of the English songs. The lyrics tend to be very simplistic and seem to be geared towards "rhyming." Since I tend to look for a combination of great lyrics and great sound, I cannot give Blutengel five stars in my rating. The lyrics are actually quite bad in both, German AND English.
However, if one is merely looking for great sound and couldn't care less about what is being said I would highly recommend Blutengel. So my advice: Close your eyes, listen to the beat and sound, but don't pay attention to the words.

what can I say about 'Seelenschmerz' ? Rather, what can't I say ? Epitopy of perfection, seems accurate. Albums such as this are few and very far in between, consisting solely of masterpieces, not since 1987's "Abigail" have I had the pleasure of listening to such a perect album.
