This is one soundtrack that packs a punch.Unlike today's music, this soundtrack really rocks! Proving once again that the 80's had the best music.This is a great metal/hair/rock album.
1.Shocker(10/10)The title track kicks major ass.Paul Stanly(of kiss)on vocals, Vivian Campbell(of Dio and Whitesnake)on guitar, Rudy Sarzo(of M.A.R.S. and Whitesnake)on Bass, and Tommy Lee(Motley Crue)on drums.This song will blow you away.
2.Love Transfusion(10/10)Another great metal song.Iggy Pop on vocals, Guy Mann Dude and John McCurry on guitars among many others involved.
3.No More Mr Nice Guy(1/10)Megadeath sucks on this one.Megadeath ruined this song.Horrible job.Their a good band on their own, but they're suckin all over the place on this one.Shame on you Megadeath!
4.Sword and Stone(9/10)great song performed by Bonfire.Excellent job.This one was written by Bruce Kulick(of Kiss).
5.Timeless Love(9/10)A great love ballad.If you want a ballad dine right 80's style this is a good one!Performed by Saraya.They do a fine job.Their first self titled release is worth buying.This song is just a sample of what the can do.
6.Shockdance(4/10)Pretty bad song, but it is so bad it's actually funny to listen to because of the rap(Pinker he's a stinker)Ha Ha Ha!Alice Cooper does the vocal work!
7.Demon Bell(10/10)This is the best song Dangerous Toys ever performed.A killer tune.Love the Guitar riffs!
8.The Awakening(6/10)Not a bad song.Pretty decent metal tune performed by Voodoo X.
9.Different Breed(3/10)Pretty horrible song by this loser band called Dead On.More like Dead End which is what they came to!

One of the greatest 80's metal soundtracks ever! The main theme "shocker" is absolutely rockin'!!! Also the old song "no more mr. nice guy" sang by Megadeth is much better than the original version... Too bad they haven't brought this album out again... It's a must for every metal fan!

I got this when it first came out. The highlight for me on this
is the song, The Awakening by a band called Voodoo X. Very, Very Cool Tune. Another stand out is Sword and Stone by Bonfire, Demon Bell by Dangerous Toys. The title track has some various artist on it. Definately a good cd if you like the 80's metal scene, as i do. But definately check out The Awakening by Voodoo X.

With cello, contrabass and drums, Bonfire Madigan appears to be a group of indie-rockers who never could shake the classical music training of their youth.

this album is light years ahead of bonfire madigan's first album ("From the Burnpile"). i found that album to be somewhat lacking in terms of consistency and production. sure there were some great songs, but i got the sense that it was merely a collection of songs, not a full fledged album.

this new album though, is wonderfully consistent and cohesive. it really shows some maturity in song writing and arrangment for the group. on this album, the bonfire is pared down to it's core trio of madigan (cello, vocals), sheri (bass), and tomas (drums). much more attention has been paid to production and crafting a thematic album. striping things to the bone has allowed the musicians to focus on the most important thing, the music. though a little more spare than the previous album, it is no less enthralling.

the arrangement of the group, two strings (bass and cello), drums, and vocals is highly unique. the songs blend rock, folk, classical, pop, and even a touch of hip-hop influences. the result is intriguingly original instrumental arrangements, coupled with a compelling and powerful voice that has things to say. madigan's vocals are truly breathtaking and magnificent. the shear amount of energy that madigan pours into her music is stunning and quite captivating, you can tell that this is music she really believes in. that makes it impossible to ignore, and difficult not to share in her passion and conviction.

adding to the mix on this album is the way the group puts sound collage and studio created soundscapes to good use, both in rachel's song (and its variations) and in other spots, adding to the pacing and dynamics of the album. also great is the artwork, which in my opinion is much better than the previous album. all in all, this is one awe inspiring package: music, artwork, spirit, everything adds up to an exhilirating new experience, the likes of which i guarantee you've not heard before.

This is vintage Hampton String Quartet. Recorded while they were still on RCA, this album shows the group's early potential. To see how they have grown, compare the "Stairway to Heaven" on this CD with the "Stairway to Heaven" on HSQ's independent CD "Sympathy For The Devil". The rock string quartets capture the vitality and energy of rock much better than other attempts by classical musicians. A great CD!

This is a great CD for studying and working to. It's all of your favorite songs but done classical style which helps improve on mental abilities. I listen to this while I am at work or studying in my dormroom. The Hampton Quartet really pulls through with this one. 4 stars!

I've been a big fan of Bonfire since I discovered them in 2000. Whether you classify them as "Pop metal" or "Hard rock" they are the embodiment of a classic 80's hair band. They've been rocking since 1981 and it doesn't look like they plan on quitting anytime soon. Its just a shame they never made it in the US market - it makes it very hard to get copies of their CDs!

Bonfire had a tough act to follow when they released their 1989 album Point Blank. The band's previous album Fireworks was a fantastic release that many to this day consider their best. Fortunately the music on Point Blank lives up to the standard set on Fireworks.

Bonfire definitely didn't skimp out on song selection with this album. Even tossing out the brief interlude-type tracks "Minestrone" and "Jungle Call", you still get a whopping 15 new songs in the same hard rocking vein as Fireworks. That's almost as many songs as the band's first two albums combined, and there really isn't much in the way of filler. Behind-the-scenes veterans Jack Ponti and Desmond Child help out with the songwriting, which adds an extra punch to an already talented songwriting band, and the band is once again in top form, led by those signature Claus Lessmann vocals.

Point Blank is the third consecutive high quality melodic rock album from Bonfire, a band that has really come to define the German hard rock sound. This is glorious 80's party rock like they just don't make anymore. If you're a fan of 80's rock and (like me) somehow missed Bonfire back in the day, do yourself a favor and check them out. You'll be glad you did!

Can only give this four stars because of some issues I mention later on. But for now let's talk about the positives. First a fine production job. Not to mention that this band know how to play. Here they were aiming at some sort of hair metal party audience and perhaps they were just a little too heavy for that crowd.

Ultimately though stuff like Bang Down the Door and Waste No Time really do set the tone for the whole ablum. Things really get a musical roll on with Hard On Me. A five star release if this level had of been maintained. However dud instrumentals like Minestroni and the fact that 17 tracks is about 6/7 too many do bring things down.

Gimme Some, track 11, is another highlight and what really sets this mob apart is the fact that the vocals courtesy of Clauss Lessmenn have some grunt to them, not some sort of audio honey being poured into your ear (yes I'm talking 'bout Danger Danger etc). This guy has a full bodied voice and the band can really crank. This band should of been on a winning forumala given their penchant for seriously fun tunes mixed with music hard enough to get the committed hard rocker nodding their heads.

The experiment didn't work commercially, which is a pity as the band should of been onto something here.

Real good hard rock album with 17 songs.You can find anything from slow to the rock hard in one.Ý't the only bonfire album in my collection but i think its good enough to demonstrate the style.The rock hard tracks like 1,5,7,14,13 will really add fuel to your fire.

I have always thought that cello rock is an extremely interesting and bizarre genre of music. After discovering its existance with bands like Rasputina, I was hooked. Bonfire Madigan's first full-length album, From The Burnpile, not only has a cello, but has, unlike Rasputina, guitars, drums, organ, contrabass, and turntables. Bonfire Madigan has a indie rock kind of accessibility, also unlike Rasputina with their strange humor. Lead singer/songwriter/cellist Madigan Shive's voice is not only gorgeous, but distinct, expressive, and emotional, like the cello itself, in fact. Shive's voice, in songs like "Snowfell Summer," jump from sweet to fiery to delicate and papery. In "For Life Long" she is hyperactive, voice range jumping all over the scale. Just before the song's climactic finish, after Shive first coaxes us with her original spirt, building steadily out of a soft, barely-there bridge, she falls into an urgent whisper which almost immediately shifts into a cat-like shriek. This alternates back to an even softer whisper before the sound becomes huge and full with Madigan Shive's vibrant command - "Don't you go away from me!" Madigan Shive does write beautiful lyrics, which compliment her voice tremendously. Whether fierce ("I refuse to be a window display today") or sweet ("I'm trying to write you a love song because I know it's time you heard one") or amusing ("Junebug, get outta my cello") or just poetically and visually interesting ("We were burned by that brand new snow"), Shive's voice and lyrics are always tied beautifully with the music. This album proves that the cello is indeed appropriate and welcome for all moods. It weeps in "Promised" and dances in "Backseat Buoy" and laughs in "Junebug." Songs like "Anthemic Amendments" make appropriate use of the turntables and sampling. Even with only ten tracks, Bonfire Madigan's From The Burnpile proves not only to be amazing and beautiful, but defiantly eclectic. Anyone who appreciates the cello or an intriguing voice will enjoy this album. This amazing recording proves true "Tinikling On A Tightrope"'s repeated sampling that "change is good, necessay, and inevitable."

possibly the most stunning piece of contemplative, universal art-folk since Drake's _Pink Moon_, Bonfire Madigan's Kill Rock Stars debut _...From The Burnpile_ paints a bitter, hopeful, and unusually danceable view of modern queer life. The sort of disc you'd want to hear in the vintage shop on the other side of town that you never get a chance to go to until finally you do and find the perfect $10 shirt. Highly reccomended.

I've been enthusiastically listening to Madigan perform live and hearing her recordings for many years, and this is by far the best thing she's put out - with her band Bonfire Madigan, solo or with Tattle Tale (no slight to Jen Wood intended). I think Madigan will continue growing as an artist and she will do better (this is still a shoestring budget indie production), but it really is a great CD. Certain songs definitely stand out as winners - "Anthemic Amendments", "Snow Fell Summer" and "Smoke Signals from the Burnpile" leap to mind. The CD makes great use of Madigan voice, Sheri Ozeki's bass and the beats provided by Tomas and Sunshine Haire. Unfortunately, the amazing Shelley Doty is under utilized on guitar. She adds incredible textures that are buried too low in the mix. This version of "Backseat Buoy" pales by comparison to the original on the 7 inch single put out by K Records - the original includes Sheri's haunting bassline, and Shelley's guitar can actually be heard. On the up side, "Anthemic Amendments" not only is a lyrical powerhouse, it packs a punch by counterbalancing Madigan's defiantly expressive delivery on vocals with Shelley's richly soulful voice. Madigan's written some powerful songs here, is a dynamic performer of style and substance, and has put together a wonderful array of supporting talent. I've listened to this CD over and over again, and while it's not perfect, if you're interested in an innovative band that makes a statement lyrically and makes you want to move musically, then Bonfire Madigan's "...from the Burnpile" is a wonderful choice.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first unwrapped this CD. At the time, all I knew of Madigan's music were two songs from an earlier recording that a friend of mine included on a comp tape he had given me. Both of which I liked. So I decided I should check out "...from the Burnpile". After listening to it twice (back to back), I have to say that not only was I glad I bought it, but that I was and continue to be truly impressed. It's raw, dynamic and full of feeling. Sheri Ozeki's upright bass and the backbeats--provided by Tomas and Sunshine Haire--create a groove that immediately makes you tap your foot and bop your head up and down. I don't understand what the "music fan from Michigan (below)" means by her lyrics "don't make any sense." What's nonsensical about "Over my dead body / You'll touch me or her" (Anthemic Amendments) or, "Everything that's real seems to be illegal / Hunger, homelessness / Living high on your dreams" (Backseat Buoy)? I don't know who Jen Wood is, but I'm a music fan as well and I really really like this record.

Yuck! I don't know what this listener below from Boston is talking about. This cd is severely lacking in all areas of talent. She can't sing...can't play cello and is hard pressed to write a thoughtful lyric. Jen Wood is a far superior musician and singer. Plus her lyrics make some sense. It doesn't surprise me that they no longer play together. Buy Jen Wood's "Getting Past the Static". I beg you to skip "From the Burnpile". You will be wanting to shrink wrap it and send it back if you buy it.

Bonfire is a pretty good German band that plays music in a melodic hard rock direction. This hits package contains material from various albums. All of the tunes are recordings from 1986-1997. Bonfire sounds similar to bands like Bon Jovi and Firehouse. The disc doesn't just include ballads like part of the album's title states--straight-ahead rockers are also included. There's a total of seventeen tracks. Bonfire's musicianship is tight, and their songwriting skills are satisfying. The vocalist does an efficient job, too. I find all of the tracks to be listenable and good. Some of the ones that I like are "Give It a Try" and "Take My Heart and Run." Bonfire also performs a version of Billy Squier's song "The Stroke." I think that it's a cool version. Bonfire is pretty formulaic, but I still think that they are a listenable band. This disc contains a nice collection of songs that I like to listen to from time to time. Worth a listen.

Bonfire is not a bad band. Not very original, but they still wrote some pretty good songs that are included on this hits collection. They remind me of bands like Bon Jovi and Fire House. Melodic Hardrock flavor. The songs aren't very memorable, but they still are good for the type of music that they represent. Standout songs are "Give it a Try" and "Take My Heart and Run." They also do a cover of the Billy Squire song "The Stroke." This group is German, but you can't tell--they sound like an American band. That's not important though. Bonfire isn't very original, but they are good musicians that write decent songs. Not bad.
