Bonnie Tyler

Just a wonderful album from a wonderful artist who has always had a special place in my heart. I wanted to know what songs were on this C/D before I purchased it (some greatest hits have only one hit and alot of duds). This collection is truly chocked full of her hits .

If you like Bonnie, you will enjoy this CD. Not only a keeper but one that you will play over and over.

Bonnie Tyler has rough voice, which fits this music beautifully. I like every song on the album.

" ALL THE BEST " actually is a 3 CD compilation of Bonnie's European only early 90's albums, with several of her late 70's RCA hits thrown in for good measure [ IT'S A HEARTACHE, LOST IN FRANCE, MORE THAN A LOVER, etc ]. I bought it for all the European only songs she recorded on 3 albums, & this set is a REAL bargain as you get almost all those album + singles tracks on this set. However, the quality of the songs & production I find not up to par with Bonnie's work for CBS/Sony in the 1980's .

It's hit or miss and take your pick with the songs here. The German label HANSA she signed with had her sing just about anything, with a lot of inferior written & produced songs. I like the songs Bonnie did with actual musicians like I CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP AT NIGHT, SAVE YOUR LOVE with Frankie Miller, WHERE WERE YOU, and others here. There are some good tracks with computer programming like RACE TO THE FIRE and BREAKOUT which both rock hard. Others have really drab computer backing & are just plain bad songs, like the atrocious SALLY COMES AROUND about a girl who sleeps around too much. Some of these songs are WAY beneath Bonnie's stature as a worldwide hit artist, and were written/produced by little know German writers. Other songs do boast big name writers & producers like Giorgio Moroder, Diane Warren, Albert Hammond, & Roy Bittan.

It's a bargain to get all these tracks at this price. Just pick & choose which songs you like best among the pack on this collection.

Bonnie Tyler had hits with Lost In France and It's A Heartache before she teamed up with Jim Steinman and created the album Faster Than The Speed Of Night which was a sort of female version of Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell. The album was a megahit on both sides of the Atlantic and gave her top 5 hits in the form of Total Eclipse Of The Heart and the title track.

Her husky voice is backed by powerful rock instrumentation, rolling, pounding drums, shimmering keyboards and blistering guitar riffs. This comprehensive Best Of collection includes her other great hit Holding Out For A Hero plus a stunning version of Have You Ever Seen The Rain and a duet with Shakin' Stevens.

The tracks from Faster Than The Speed Of Night are exuberant and theatrical, but her sensitive side is also displayed here on songs like the aforementioned Lost In France. If you love the hook-filled big rock sound of artists like Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Meat Loaf, Ellen Foley, Tina Turner or Jim Steinman, you'll love this album.

Some songs are super but some of them are not. Even though some songs are "old-fashioned" I liked that. It's inevitable that some of the compositions are less dynamic than leading ones, which is why you could skip some songs.

I received the CD in great shape, the price was good and it was delivered in a very timely manner.

The title track is cool, despite the fact that is is an overwrought, melodramtic epic in the Jim Steinman vein. You should get this only because it has the full length version of Total Eclipse of the Heart, one of the best pop singles ever.What remains is a bland, slightly dated but not unenjoyable mix of pop/rock drama whose one and only saving grace is the incredible voice of Bonnie Tyler.

Bonnie Tyler's most well-known album and not least for the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart". That song is her best one...a very beautiful ballad. This version is that longer one. However, it isn't the only good track in this album...the songs "Faster Than the Speed of Night", "Straight from the Heart", and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" are popular tracks too. "Faster...", "It's a Jungle Out There", and "Going Through the Motion" are very catching tracks...they have the power! The ballads "Tears" and "Take Me Back" are quite simpel and they make this album less good, unfortunately".

I am a huge BT fan, and I have had the opportunity to meet her twice, which was quite a delight! That voice!!! It is shown off very well on this great album of the 80s, and it does not sound old! As a matter of fact, TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART has been re-released as a duet in Europe, where it has cracked the European top 5, and has held strong atop the charts for 7 weeks in Blegium and 10 weeks in France!!! This has also launched a new album available on the site entitled SIMPLY BELIEVE. Now on to this album!

It is heavy, and the background vocals are simply superb. I agree with most other reviewers; GETTING SO EXCITED has always been my least favorite song on the entire album. Oddly enough, the album title brings out the bombastic Wagnerio-Steinmanesque tone superbly, but I never really LOVED the song as such. Track #1 is absolutely superb, and charged with her powerful voice. Of course, the uncontournable TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART is the must-hear in its extended version of 6:49!!! Ravishing! GETTING THROUGH THE MOTIONS is cute, and not to be taken seriously, while IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE is quite pop. I always like that arrangement. TEARS is a raunching duet by Bonnie and Sctosman extraordinaire Frankie Miller, with whom she collaborated on two subsequent albums. TAKE ME BACK is very powerful as well, while STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART, the Bryan Adams cover is just plain great. Again, that voice alone makes you shiver! A must-have from a great woman, even if you don't like all the songs. For everyone else who is not most familiar with her work, try NOTES FROM AMERICA, my all-time favorite Bonnie Tyler release ever!

This is a AWESOME soundtrack. I love the movie and everytime I watch it I see more depth. It is sneaky funny in some parts and just hilarious in others. The movie would not be as good however, without this amazing compilation of songs. They fit the changing moods perfectly. I listen to it the car and at home. The movie introduced me to a couple songs I hadn't heard and reminded me of some I had forgotten. You can enjoy it over and over.

Great soundtrack with a very good selection of mixed artists and differing styles of music from Tanita Tikarim to Bob Dylan. The soundtrack is great on it's own, but is even better if you have seen the movie. The U2 song in the movie, probably should have been included as well, but you never know why it wasn't. It is still worth the listen though!

This was a great buy. I don't buy many Soundtracks...only when the music in the film really hits me...often I don't even notice that there is any!
First thing I said when I saw this film was that I would buy this CD. I actually didn't rate the film that highly, although enjoyable. The CD though, is great.
I love the fantastic final track 'Bandits Suite'.
It's hard to compare it or recommend it based on music tastes, as the make up of the CD is quite varied... from Tanita Tikaram to Bonnie Tyler (Both of Bonnie's songs I must admit, I struggle to listen to due to having heard them both so many times over the years!)

Just a really good listen.

There are many little things that would probably go unnoticed in this movie, were it not for soundtrack. I'm thinking of the scene in which Cate Blanchett loses herself in that meal preparation, only to have her almost unbelievably insensitive husband show up to inform her that he won't be eating any of it. It's the music and the life it creates for her that shows the dichotomy of her world; and so, when she inadvertently escapes, we believe it. Are Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, and Blanchett superb? Yes. But it's the music that underscores the acting and directing brilliance.

Yes, this album is very very incomplete. Aside from the great U2 not being there, where the heck is Mindless self indulgence(my favorite band )??? They were played for like a minute and a half when Bruce willis and that other guy walk in on that young guy and that girl making out. It was a song called kill the rock and its great. So i don't know why they didn't put it there!

God, how I used to LOVE this song back in the day. Even now, I can still hear it in my head, and after I saw that GPS commercial, with an audio clip digitally remastered, I just fell in love with it all over again, even though it was only 2-3 seconds. Still, it only took that long to remember the timesI would listen to that faithfully. I've yet to own it on audio CD/DVD, but soon plan to now. This looks like something that would come from Heaven itself, to be completely digitllly restored and remastered!!! What a dream come true! Well, I'm sold, how 'bout you?

this is a ok cd i had it iliked it now i like her diffrent things. it has all good songs . i recomed this its good but i dont think itts worth finding super hits is better i find.. allie of port washigton

I bought several copies of this CD so I'd have it forever. I never get tired of the songs, blasting them from my music system at least once a week. Tom Jones is at his best with Vaults of Heaven. You'll be tapping your toes and singing along. Boyzone's best song, "No Matter What" is on here, as well as Donny Osmond's version of "If Children Ruled the World". Every track is sung with feeling. Then, of course, there is Michael Ball singing "Unsettled Scores." That in itself makes this CD worth buying.

"Whistle down the wind" was Andrew Lloyd Webber's first fresh work after "Sunset Blvd" premiered in 1993. With this musical he decided to get back to his rock and roll roots that made him famous with "Jesus Christ Superstar", after which he was mostly known for his big, soaring and lush scores of "The phantom of the opera" or "Sunset". The result is very satisfying. Jim Steinman, the lyricist of "Meat Loaf" is credited with the lyrics and the director is Gale Edwards, who directed a very successful run of "Superstar" in the West End in 1996.

When it became known that ALW and Jim Steinman are working together on a new musical, an idea arose about a non-cast recording album of the material, featuring the artists ALW and Steinman have been separately collaborating for years. So what we have here is an album with the songs from a musical recorded in their own right, outside the context of the show, with totally different orchestrations more suitable for the occasion. This is actually something ALW has done in the past with most of his shows, when he would release the main songs with different orchestrations as the singles, usually sung by famous artists.

This album thus boasts the artists from the ALW's world like Elaine Paige, Michael Ball and Donny Osmond, together with the ones brought in by Steinman: Bonnie Tyler, Meat Loaf, Tina Arena and Tom Jones. There are a few others and one of the main assets of this album is the fact that all of the singers here have very strong vocals and a unique way of interpretations. Be it Elaine Paige's mature soprano, Michael Ball's famous warm voice or the husky vocals of Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler, each of the songs is a little pop masterpiece. Some of them, like Michael Ball's rendition of "Unsettled scores", are actually better here than on the subsequent cast album.

Another benefit is the very good orchestrations, echoing the original sounds of the score, but in a more suitable pop and rock environment. Some of the songs, like Boyzone's "No matter what", topped the chart for a considerable time.

Besides being a remarkable pop album, this set of songs is another proof of the fact just how masterful composer ALW really is, the one that has no problem moving between the genres of the modern musical theatre and the contemporary pop. One would like to think that the days when a musical could produce a hit tune are not altogether gone. And ALW has written plenty of them.

This album, therefore, should have no trouble in finding its owners, be it the musical theatre devotees such as myself, the fans of a good pop piece or both.

Well it was much better than the London Cast Version. This is the one you really should get. The singers sound better with more emotion and it doesn't have to whole script being said in the middle of songs like the London version does. So this one is the better way to go.

Tina Arena is really unbelievable! Her voice is great!

Don't be afraid of buying this one, it's wonderful. I got interested in the songs from ALW 50th show. No regrets here.
Tom Jones is great, and Michael Ball never disappoints. I like
the combination of different style vocals.

This is a compilation of music from Webber's WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND, done in pop style, released before the 2-cd cast album. I much prefer this version. Tom Jones presents an incredible opening gospel number, followed by my favorite, and to me one of Andrew's best songs WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND, performed by the very under-rated Tina Arena. This is one incredible balled. It builds, and she blets. What a match! Other incredible songs are TIRE TRACKS, done in the true Bonnie Tyler form, KISS IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE, a perfect song for MEATLOAF, and to me one of his best ever. Boyzone's NO MATTER WHAT is tops, I think their best song. I wish Andrew Llood Webber would continue to write albums like this between his shows for pop music stars, because this is one of the best CD's of pop music I have bought in a long time. There is no way you can be sorry you bought this one! Other artists provide great performances including Michael Ball, Elaine Page, and many more. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS ONE!

I thought this was going to be a duet CD and instead it was Meatloaf and then Bonnie and then Meatloaf again. I guess it's like getting two CD's for the price of one. The only problem is that I'm such a huge Meatloaf fan that I already had all of those songs. I like Bonnie Tyler, but I wouldn't have purchased this had I known that. I thought it would be interesting to have their two voices together instead of just alternating songs between the two.

A great blendig of two fine artists. Nothing of his I didn't already have but I pride myself on haveing them all. The arangement is however, quite entertaining. One of his, one of hers, it never gets old.

I ordered this CD for my father, and he was very pleased with the collection of songs on this CD.

A GOOD MIXTURE OF MEATLOAF TUNES- CAPTIVATING LYRICS- MUCH FROM THE HEART -WITH MEANING- A TRUE MEATLOAF FAN WILL ENJOY THIS ALBUM

Was hoping the two would do duets, disappointing but still a good disc.

I've been looking for Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts ever since I watched her sing it on Andrew Lloyd Weber's 50th birthday party on PBS! At first there was absolutely no information on the web ... at least none that in any of the search engines. I went to her 'official' site, and about a million unofficial ones, but nothing mentioned it at all. I kept lookng, and finally something showed up that said it would be 'on her next album, but no word yet what or when that will be' ... So I waited, and I searched, and I waited, and I .... anyway, I'd given in to frustration and let it slip to a back burner (sort of).

So today I give it another shot -- and hell! there's references to it all over the place, name of the album and everything... And it's unavailable! *WAAAAAHHH* I really want this album.


By the way, just as an aside: When I bought Heaven and Hell, I was a little disappointed. Not because I didn't like the album -- I do! But I was really hoping to hear them singing _together_! I grew up listening to Meatloaf and Bonnie Tyler, and I always thought their voices would sound so good _blended_.. I'd _love_ to hear them sing a duet.

LOVE EVERY SONG . C.D. IS PERFECT , AS FAR AS EVERY SONG , AND AS FAR AS ITS CONDITION.

By far, this is my favorite of her CDs and has been added to my collection. It includes a
favorite from years ago, "It's a Heartache" and some new ones that just seem to grow on you. Her voice is just as I remember from years ago so you might say I am an old fan returning again. Seeing her perform "Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts" with other guest artists performing songs by Andrew L. Webber in celebration of his 50th birthday was a reminder of how much I had enjoyed listening to her and look forward to many more hours of great music from her.

This WOULD have been a great CD if I had received the correct one. When I ordered this CD, it had all the songs listed as specified in the remarks section of this page as to what's on the CD. However, when I went and listened to the CD, the songs that were listed on the back of the case, were not that of the CD - it was the same line up as Super Hits: Bonnie Tyler. I still love the CD, but I was bummed to have the wrong CD packed in the CD case. Beware of imports and check your products!

I like Bonnie Tyler very much.
I was unhappy with the CD condition.
I bought it and the write up said it was "like new " quality.
It has a small defect on it and gets hung up. It has a hard time moving onto it's next song line.
The disc is not scratched but has a dot/smug area that prevents it from playing smoothly. I tried cleaning it but it didn't help.
The albums song collections are very good.
I esp. like the song "Holding out for a Hero."
Great song for spinning or jogging to.

The first song I heard by Bonnie Tyler was "It' A heartache" many years ago and liked it
very much. but over the years my copy was lost. One night while watching the PBS station in our area, Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday part was being celebrated by various guest artists performing his songs. Bonnie Tyler's performance of "Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts" brought back fond memories of "It's A Heartache". I remembered how much I enjoyed her music in the past and am now collecting her CDs. This CD is the first of many.

I bought this, ripped the one good song it contains onto my computer then took it back to wal-mart. Bonnie Tyler is a great singer but she should have had some decent songwriters come up with some more good material for her to showcase her talents.

Total Eclipse Of The Heart is one of the greatest songs of all time though it ranks up there with Dream Weaver by Gary Wright, Careless Whisper by Wham!, and Freebird by Led Zeppelin. Awesome tune, again. I wept openly when it was sung at my big sister's wedding.
