Brother Bjork as named by John Garcia (formerly of Kyuss too)is an extraordinary talented musician, sadly I overlooked this amazing guy for a long time, "punk rock guilt" is an awesome album were Bjork make evident his Hendrix influences and his love for rock n roll in its purest form, this release is full of hugely enjoyable melodic riffs and 70s rithms, his voice Hendrix alike provide the right atmosphere for the vibe this album search to achieve, certainly the use of analog recording process its essential to capture the right sound and this is evident since the beginning of the first track "lion one" , followed by "Dr. Special" (the best track of the album) "born to rock" is another magnificent cut, in general "punk rock guilt" have the elements to become a classic release and one of the best offered by Brant Bjork.

Lets wait next year to hear a new masterpiece in Bjorks catalog

I am a huge Kyuss fan. BB was the original drummer for this seminal band. I picked up Jalamanta and was quite impressed. This led me to purchase all of his albums within the past month or so....9 in all if you include CHE. Punk Rock Guilt is my fav album by Brant followed by Somero Sol. This dude has a lo-fi, soulful, bluesy, rock groove that can't be beat. At times you hear a Hendrix vibe but this dude pretty much has his own sound. If you dig power trio rock music and are looking for something new to jam too........check out BB and Punk Rock Guilt...you'll be glad you did....rOckOn....caTFishBlueS

Brant's best offering yet. This guy just keeps getting better. Rock solid from start to finish. If you like any of Brant's work, this is a must buy. Get it!

Last summer's record was Somera Sol. This summer's record will be Punk Rock Guilt. Brant Bjork might be one of the very few to pair power with relaxation and attitude. Crank up "Locked And Loaded" (one of TWO! 10 minute+ songs on this record) and you'll feel 10.5 feet tall and bulletproof. And rightfully so, because you have taste and style when this soundtrack plays. Automatic Fantastic. No superficial gimmicks. "Plant Your Seed" is another favorite and I am sure all the other songs will be too once I get past "Locked And Loaded".
Nothing against Dave Grohl, but on a personal level as a drummer coming from one of the seminal bands (Kyuss) turned 1st class songwriter (and may I say, good guitarist), Brant Bjork means a lot more to me.
This is honest, relaxed, powerful, meaningful...and I am totally in love with it!

I wrote a review a while back stating that this album bored me, etc. Shame shame shame. After listening to it more over time, I realized that in order for this album to be properly enjoyed, it has to be listened to in the right context. By that, I mean it's best enjoyed on a lazy, sunny afternoon or evening, when you're feeling chill and haven't a care in the world. By that merit, I love this album, but it really takes a lot of getting used to, more so than any other album I've owned. That is probably because this is easily the most unique album I've owned. Five stars for this album, Amazon wouldn't let me change my rating!

If you love Kyuss, Queens, Fu Manchu, Che, Unida then I think you might like this. Its low key compaired to bands Bjork had been in but I think any fan of desert fuzzzzz will enjoy this relaxing at times but the throw back Bjork from bands before. Kick back pack one up and chill.

I've been a hugh brant bjork fan since discovering his talents in Fu Manchu and then going back to Kyuss. I was impressed by Jalamanta, unique vibe, laid back. Che' came out and rocked it hard and I felt I got a better idea of Brant's vocal style. I bought the Operator's cd in Seattle and I repeatedly listened to it on my road trip down the entire west coast...."Now it's time to walk the line"....while watching the ocean with my dog and my girl, beautiful time. I feel that Keep Your Cool has documented brant and the bros at a creative and free time time in their lives. You can just tell brant was having fun playing this music and live, the tunes just abuse your senses with cool. The cd is not that long, but the production sounds fuller and clean, quality over quantity. I have caught myself poping this one into the car stereo more and more lately, especially when I'm in a good mood and need to jam. Rock'n'Rol'e is probably my favorite song here, but the entire record is solid and very fun to listen to. If you are looking for an artist with integrity and no fear of bringing the rock for the people pick up Keep Your Cool. Thanks again bro!

For an effort that more or less copmrises Brant Bjork's reminiscences of his life, two discs is actually pretty short. I haven't heard his other solo work, but I am a fan from his Kyuss and Fu Manchu days. This collection of songs really took me over like a slow burn, though. Nineteen cuts of smoothly laid-back guitar rock about growing up in LA, playing arcade games (that one's for the "older kids"), first loves, gettin' stoned, and chilling out with buddies. You can't beat this...I just can't wait until summer when I can kick back on my porch with some cold cervezas and this record. (Oh, the cover tunes rock - anyone that can pull off an original yet faithful version of my favorite Stones tune gets an automatic five stars from me).

I really like both of these cd's. Honestly, it sounds like a modern day Jimi Hendrix Experience minus the long guitar solos. If you didn't know it was Brant Bjork when hes not singing it sounds like Jimi's band. Bad Ass!!!

If this guy could ever buckle down or get hooked up with a star producer, he could create a hit record.
As is, he is still pretty good to listen to. It is just unfortunate that the public en masse has not caught on him to yet.
Buy the album -in this case it is well worth the dollars.

I've been a fan of this dudes solo stuff since Jalamanta and I gotta say this tops'em all. The tunes are better, the vox and lyrics are better- everything just comes together with pure energy and flows nicely. The weather has been beautiful here in So Cal. and this album has been the perfect soundtrack. Right on to you Brant!! You and the Bro's have given up some killer tunes- keep'em comin'!

PS- I'm listening to Big Youth's- "Screaming Target" right now (sweetness!!). For some killer reggae check it out!!

This is such a kick-A CD. Who says one needs to be "plugged in" (ie: electric) to deliver a sonic explosion of the most rock-ingest kind? BB acoustic or electric delivers the same result: PASSION UNBRIDLED! He has never released a bad song or half-hearted release, in my humble opinion. He is the perfect definition of a modern day Rock God!
Just the song "Love Is Revolution" alone is reason enough to lay your money down for this release. Trust me! You will not be sorry. Definitely SONG OF THE YEAR. And, as long as you're taking notes in this here Rock n Roll High School, make sure to grab a copy of Brant's "Somero Sol" as well so as to check out how he cuts many of these songs electrically. I'm in Bjork heaven this year. "Tres Dias" , "Somero Sol" and "Volta" (from that other exquisite Bjork, of course!). So juch cool, cool music, my ears are certainly happy!

If you're true fan of Brant and his style than you will enjoy this acoustic offering. Both personal and political, the lyrics come out intense and is wrapped around his familiar guitars.

Being the BB fan I am I was super excited to see this album available on Amazon. I check the DUNA site quite a bit and always look for new albums...needless to say Amazon had it a few weeks prior to the Duna site offering it.

This album is all acoustic. It brings Brants lyrics and unique voice/delivery up front. If you're looking for his usual sound then you may be dissapointed but if you are a true fan I say BUY IT.

This guy needs to stop touring overseas and come back to Boston soon....

What a mix of styles here. A little funk, a little jazz, a lotta rockin tunes. Brant Bjork is definetely an overlooked musician who writes great stuff. This album jams, plain and simple.

"Cheap Wine" might be the catchiest tune I've heard in a long time. "Electric Lalli Land" is funky and will get your head bobbin'. "Cocoa Butter" is smooth and easy and fantastic.

Gotta pick this one up fo sho.

I warn you, this album has a retro feel to it, but a refitting of retro, a use of all that has come before to pave the way for things not yet envisioned. I warn this album is not what you'd expect, however, you'd be an utter dully not to check it out. I warn you, this album will kill you with its melodies, absolutely murder you with its structures and demolish your soul with its niceties.

From start to finish BB and the O's weave a pattern of songs so tight and on point that you'd think you were listening to a world saving party mantra. Use this album anywhere but especially in the car and especially outside on your patio. Like wine, it needs room to breathe.

I have been hooked on this album for months now. The man is such a great drummer.....he is a MACHINE I tell you.

Didn't care much for Kyuss, the guitars and singing were marginal in my opinion.

But this album is the way it was meant to be done....nonstop groove and pure talent.

Only ones I can compare them to are the Meat Puppets, with Bostrom's incredible drumming and 3-man tightness.

Get it now, it is the antidote to today's talent vacuum.

THIS RECORD IS PERFECT. I have been a Fu Manchu fan for a long time, but over the last year or so I just started discovering the talents of their former drummer Brant Bjork. It's hard to describe how incredibly cool this album is. This and CHE' are in my opinion his best efforts.

This album starts off groovin' and DOES NOT STOP. It hits many different genres and does it effortlessly and more importantly, seamlessly. What I mean is, the flow of this record is EXACT. This is exactly how the songs should be positioned on the record for fluid chillin'. This is one of those rare records that if you are smart enough to buy it, you can put it in your system and then forget about things for 45 minutes. No skipping through songs, that will be completely unnecessary with this album.

The songs range from rockin' to groovy, to funky, to jazzy, almost soulful at times. "Smarty Pants" sounds like it could be a Joe Walsh song. "Cheap Wine" is absolutely beautiful. It sounds like you've just turned your radio on and it's the mid to late 70's, which depending on who you were listening to in that era could be pure greatness or pure crap. In this case of course, it rules. Cheap Wine sounds like what a Steely Dan song would sound like if they sacked up just a little bit more. And Steely Dan rule by the way. "Cocoa Butter" Is perfect for entertaining the ladies, or eating dinner...seriously. This album is all over the place with styles, but it WORKS!! I have never heard of The Operators before, but I can only pray that they hook up with Brant Bjork again sometime in the future, because these guys add some serious flavor to the stew.

I must warn the hardcore Fu fans, If you are expecting anything like a typical Fu Manchu record, this is not it. But if you have a wide musical taste and can appreciate pure musical talent, BUY THIS! The samples on amazon are great, but they don't even do it justice, you've got to hear the whole thing. If I sound excessive in my praise for this album, it's because any music lover who appreciates pure talent and quality in their music knows how great the feeling is when you buy a record that is...GOOD. You also know the feeling of dissapointment and anger when it sucks. Well this one is FANTASTIC.

This is by no means groundbreaking, but what it is is good chillin', drivin', blazin' cookin' out, beachin' it kind of tunes that will keep the party going for a solid 45 minutes. Thank you Brant Bjork for keeping cool music in circulation, please don't ever stop.

If there ever was an album that says "Roll Another Number" it's this mellow, funky little gem. Whenever I listen to this I want to call up the bro's for a BBQ, chill out with some 40's rollin' fatties and talkin' about the ladies. OH YEAH!! If you like this music check out "Jalamanta" and Che- "Sounds of Liberation" if you can find'em. This is music for the people..Get it on!!
