Bullet for My Valentine

The CD was pretty good, it have a nice intro and ending. After a while the scream-vocals get mellow but it is a pretty nice CD over all. They just need to have a little more variety.

i find reviews very helpful when buying music, even though we all have our own taste...Anyways, i decided to buy this album, as i have no other BFMV albums, after hearing some of the songs on it and i absolutely love it! I am a "newer metal" music person, and this album fits that category for me, but still has the older metal influence. What an amazing band, and you will definately be please after getting this album! Every song on it is good! That makes a person happy when you buy an album and every song is good, how often does that happen? Well, there is maybe the slow one i don't care too much for, but every metal band has a ballad...Anyways, buy it, if you like this band!!! It is well worth it!!

Bullet For My Valentine-The Poison ****

What is so great about Bullet For My Valentine is how refreshing their sound is. Combining Thrash with screamo, with hardcore, and punk feel, with classic metal to create a sound just this side of Slayer. But Bullet For My Valentine is different than their contemporaries like Atreyu and say Avenged Sevenfold because they are not altering their sound for the radio this just comes natural for them and they make their metal melodic enough to get air play with out compromise.

Where we have heard a resurgence of the guitar solo as of late, Bullet is the only band doing it any justice. Combing both speed with technique, and style and feel with melodic lines to build a structure rather than a bunch of fast notes played in a few short seconds.

Tracks like the angry '4 Words' and the radio friendly 'Tears Don't Fall' create contrast while 'Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow' and 'All These Things I Hate' take on a life of their own. 'Cries In Vain' show that their are still great lyrics in metal.

Bullet For My Valentine is doing it right, and The Poison is their strongest testament to that.

This album is what my old friend Barney would call "SUPER-DEE-DUPER". But seriously, it's really great metal that's hard for other bands to try to mimic. One of my favorite albums to date with my favorites being: All These Things I Hate, Tears Don't Fall, 4 Words, Room 409, and The Poison.
Every metal lover needs to pick this one up for sure.

I bought this after having only heard one song. It wasn't as good as I had hoped but it rocks pretty hard.

This is a strange band. Good, but strange.

With all the sound-alike metalcore bands out there this is basically a good thing, with a few caveats.

Like most hardcore metalheads, I never paid any attention to emo bands, since my inner "13 year-old girl" left me when I was eight. However, I did manage to catch the video for Scream, Aim, Fire on Headbanger's Ball and thought, "Wow, this is great. Very old Metallica. Heavy, good riffs, catchy vocal but not wimpy. They didn't look dorky. I like these guys!"

Having no idea about their emo past, I immediately ordered Scream, Aim, Fire Deluxe, since you get the cool video with it.

How is it? For the most part, excellent. About the half the album is pretty old-school metal/thrash with cool harmony guitar riffs and ballsy-but-melodic vocals peppered with hardcore screams, not unlike newer Trivium. Actually, A LOT like newer Trivium. The title track is a monster. My only problem is that every 3rd song or so the vocals regress back to that horribly cloying emo vocal that sounds like a 15 year-old kid singing. Picture the guy from Fallout Boy singing for Anthrax :/

It's a bit schitzophrenic, but at least it's different. Overall a good metal album. I'm just hoping the guys decide what kind of band they want to be on the next album and leave the cutesy pop vocals at the door. BTW, the DVD has the 3 MTV videos in good quality along with some fairly useless tour footage with a musical background and no real dialogue. Ok to watch once, but really the videos are the reason to get this.

Bullet For My Valentine or BFMV are a Metalcore band hailing from the UK and have successfully released two positive LP's and four great Ep's.

"Hand of Blood" is the bands third EP and was released in 2005 along with the bands debut album "The poison". Although it only hold 6 songs it makes for a solid all the way through effort. They proceed into the scream-clean-scream vocal ideals that made Kill Switch Engaged successful.

The songs are not too distinct from one another at first, but with a good listen or two you can easily distinguish the songs. "4 Words To Choke Upon" is where the album begins and the progressive intro beams into a 'Zakk Wylde' like pinch harmonic spectacle. "Hand of Blood" the actual track is a staple in my opinion to the band, follows all the bands cliche's putting them to good use. Every thick churning slow moment rapidly cutting to a fast pace tempo is really what makes for the album.
"Cries In Vain" has a unique clean toning up guitar intro, but nothing really grabs you in the whole song. Not a filler, but nonetheless not their best effort.

The next three songs are the meat of the album. "Curses" has a brilliant clean intro with a nice flow coupled with upbeat rough but clean vocals. After about 1:20 aggressively stirs the heavy approach in a different direction. The song is more progressive than the rest of the songs on the EP, quite memorable really toying between redemption and loneliness. "No Control" much like the title of the song is an unbound ride, scattering heavy vocals up and down pitches. This song is probably the most hardcore for say on the album, but nothing nearly as heavy as fellow commercial metalcore bands like All That Remains, and Trivium. The final track "Just Another Star" is sort of like a inverted version of "4 Words To Choke Upon" (the intro track), but with a few more tricks and organic beats up its sleeve. Harmonized intros, thunderous pausing everything in its way drum moments, hazardous guilt ridden vocals, all this and a mosh pit ready breakdown chorus!

Overall one can't complain about the relatively cheap price for the album as few songs as it may hold they are all good in their own way.I'd rather spend Six dollars on a short but great album than twelve dollars on an album with maybe two three gems. Metalcore fans, emos, all of you 'Hardcore' scenesters shall enjoy this EP.

I LOVE BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE!!! These guys are awesome!!! You have got to just listen to them!!! They will blow you away!!! Mathew is awesome at screaming and I love their music!!! Once you start listening you'll want to beg for more!!!

Bullet For My Valentine rock much harder, much louder, and are far less likely to be on Top Of The Pops than much of their genremates of whom nobody could charm me more than one or two songs. This, I listen to over and over again.
This album is the same as their selftitled debut with another great track as a bonus: 4 Words (To Choke Upon).

I haven't had this feeling about an album since Rage Against the Machine's debut-album release.

Great Demo, the new cd, the Poison is even better. The only thing that I wish was different with the new cd, is that I wish four of the thirteen weren't from this demo, but no one is perfect. Other then that Bullet for my valentine is a great group, none of their songs sounds a like so their cd never gets boring at anytime. I do believe that this is the year for Bullet for my valentine.

I must say that this band is the greatest band to come from wales u.k. I cant wait to get the poison, i fthey keep their act together they might succed past Green day.

The riffs and vocal melodies are very cool and make every song memorable. They blend together metal with regular rock and even a little punk and they play their instruments very well. The singer is very dynamic and can do a lot with his voice, as he does most of the screaming and all of the singing. This is serious music unlike a lot of the popular music today, plus they can play live. They are extremely catchy without changing their sound to do so and are arguably the best British/Welsh band today. Buy this or at least the regular music only version and you will be impressed I promise.

If you didn't read my review for their other cd, I bought this one at the same time as Scream, Aim, Fire, based off of the title track single. The rest of that cd was disappointing. Each track dropped a little more to the emo sound. I heard that this one could not compare in aggressiveness to the newer one. Although it is not as heavy as the title track, this one is more consistent and heavier then the end of SAF. Both are listenable but I was expecting heavier.

I just got this album the other day and I was very surprised at the level of talent these guys bring to the table. if you are fans of Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu you will feel right at home listening to Bullet for my Valentine on your Zune. It's nice to see a young band with tons of talent and upside in this genre for a change. I'm really looking forward to picking up their brand new album this week!

All the songs are fun and addicting. There are some great melodies and nice solos. Great vocals. I highly reccomend for all kinds of metal fans. Also there are great videos.

When I first saw this item I was browsing around the internet just killing time. I already own the original release of The Poison, so I was a little hesitant to order this for 4 new tracks and a dvd. I wish I had bought it as soon as i noticed it. The extra tracks are amazing and the dvd is fantastic. BFMV is one of the best new bands I've heard in awhile. The music is melodic and heavy. If you do not own this cd do yourself a favor and buy it. TODAY!!!

It seems every band to come out of wales, U.K. has their act together. Maybe there is something in the water over there, but bands such as funeral for a friend and lost prophets know how to make good music. And then bullet for my valentine comes along and does the same thing. Hand in blood is merely an ep, a little teaser until the poison came out, but every song just takes you for a ride and doesn't slow down. If you enjoy good rock/metal music, then this album is definitely for you.

They Kick ass!
Bullet For My Valentine are the next big thing to leap out of Wales, they combine heavy as hell Metallica riffs with the melodies of Funeral For A Friend to great effect. If you don't believe me check out this cool E.P. and I can say for sure that you will love it. An then I srongly advise you go check them out live before they start to get really massive.

Great little sample of a great metal guitar band. Awesome covers of Metallica's Sanitarium and Pantera's Domination. Plus some live tracks.

Bullet For My valentine..release a pretty good Sophomore..its not bad cause there is still material that brings you back to the sound that made you fall in love with them. they have great songs on here..but they have also jumped on the band wagon with the other bands that want to release Metallica sounding music..its not all that horrible cause the songs still have little hits of sound of the band..and like i said..there is still material that reminds you of the poison..witch i think it's a sound that better fits them..cause i think that all that Metallica stuff has been done already and they were bringing some good uniqueness to a genre that has been quickly becoming stale and boring..i gave it 3 stars cause its just ok..didn't think that it was better than the poison..im not hating on them cause i love Bullet..and they are trying alot of new thing in the album that sounds great but its only the Metallica sounding stuff that just sounds old and boring cause its been done already..

"Scream Aim Fire" is a really good album and awesome second release from Bullet For My Valentine. A friend of mine got me into them last year, but it wasn't until I heard this album a while ago that I really got into their stuff. And I'm glad I did, because there's actually a lot of great stuff on this album.
BFMV may get lumped into the ever-growing subgenre of metalcore bands, or emo, or whatever the stereotype is, but actually I hear a lot of influence from bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Trivium (well, they did have a metalcore sound early on, but they're still awesome!), even a little Megadeth and Slayer. There's plenty of great riffs, solos, lyrics and drums throughout this album, and the standout tracks to me are:
"Scream Aim Fire": The title track is the opening song off this album, and it comes charging at you at 100 miles an hour! Lots of great, heavy riffs and a mind-blowing growl that Matt Tuck holds for a long time!
"Eye of the Storm": Another high-energy, fast-packed song with more awesome riffs and soloing, with cool lyrics to boot.
"Hearts Burst Into Fire": Reminds me a little of Ozzy's "Mama I'm Coming Home", but faster and more rock-y. A beautiful, clean guitar opens with a passionate solo over, then some melodic, fast riffs and nice vocal melodies bring us through the rest of the song.
"Waking The Demon": An aggressive song with heavier riffs and darker lyrics, but actually feature some nice vocal melodies, a cool drum fill and a wild guitar solo. Plus, the vocal-only ending of "Wa-king the deee-mon!" is epic!
"Last to Know": The shortest song on the album, but still packs lots of energy and darker lyrics in the vein of "Waking The Demon" while still maintaining the quality musicianship of the band.
"Forever and Always": Another melodic, ballad-styled song that ends the album in a great way. A bunch of cool riffs fill this six-and-a-half minute plus song up and leaves you feeling great.

Although I feel the rest of the album could use a little more variety in the feel, such as the progressive, ballad style of songs such as "Forever and Always" or "Hearts Burst Into Fire" to make the album more dynamic and interesting, "Scream Aim Fire" is still an awesome metal album that you should check out today!

This album is lighter compared to their other stuff. If you are buying this album because you loved the singles, "Scream aim fire" and "Waking the demon", and you like it heavier then don't buy this album. It doesn't get much heavier than those two.

I had high expectations for this album and I was surprised to find it a little higher than sub-par.

3.5 all around...good album, just don't be surprised if you're not completely satisfied.

Scream Aim Fire is getting notorious for being Bullet for my Valentine's second album, and there are debates as to whether their first album, The Poison, is better or worse. It is true, that the band has altered their sound slightly, but it certainly DOES NOT make it worse or takes away from BFMV's talent. The Poison was more of a metal-core album, with most of the songs being related to love and breakups, whereas SAF is more reminiscent of classic, 80's metal. Whether you will like this album better than The Poison is based on your own taste.

1. Scream Aim Fire - 10/10. Powerful and attention catching.
2. Eye of the Storm - 7/10. Weakest song on the album, but that too bad.
3. Heart Burst Into Fire - 10/10. Powerful and emotional, and a joy to listen to.
4. Waking The Demon - 10/10. Amazingly powerful and catchy.
5. Disappear - 10/10. Good song.
6. Deliver Us From Evil - 10/10. Probably the band's next single.
7. Take it out on Me - 9/10. Awesome.
8. Say Goodnight - 9/10. A sweet ballad.
9. End of Days - 10/10. Great.
10. Last to Know - 8.5/10.
11. Forever and Always - 10/10. A great power ballad.

Almost every single song on this album is extremely catchy and I never skip any of them. I recommend this album to any hard rock or metal fan.

A strong and surprisingly heavy CD. Excellent in terms of quality. Recording is awesome and the guitar work isnt half bad. These guys are probably the best at this new age metal stuff, and this time they went a little heavier. There are still the little melodies and harmonizing in the choruses, Though vocally it is rougher, which is good from where i stand. Honestly, its not THAT much different from the last disc, just better produced. And there are some very commercial moments like on 'Hearts Burst into Fire' and 'Say Goodnight'..Those i could do without..

These guys are young and at least selling some CD's to the masses. Could have been a lot worse seeing todays music climate. It is encouraging to see they followed up a good release like 'The Poison' with possibly a better effort. Definitely has some heavy moments. Not perfect, but I like it.
