Though I didn't live in Eva Cassidy's era, how her music reaches my soul. Simply and beautifully sung with utterly memorable and delicate orchestrations. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - a song that's become something of a cliche - ironically took on a whole new, fresh meaning for me the way she sings it. Great CD to play anytime!

Love this CD, Eva's voice is beautiful. Wish she were still alive and singing for all our enjoyment.

Without a doubt, she has one of the most beautiful voices that I have ever heard. A gifted singer that was taken from us too soon,yet today she touches millions including myself.The first time I ever heard Eva sing "Songbird",I teared up.It was that good. This collection is worth ten fold what it costs.

I have several of Eva's CD's and I picked this one to give as a gift to a friend because of the song selection. He's very pleased with it and says it's her most soulful CD. Now I have to get a copy for myself!

Everytime I hear a song sung by Eva Cassidy I can't help but feel sad.
Sad, because she never got the chance to know how much her voice touches so many people.
Sad, because she never got the fame that "so called singers" like Mariah Carey has.
Sad, because she is/was a TRUE TALENT, with a REAL VOICE and sang real songs.
If you have never heard Eva Cassidy sing, you are missing out on a truly beautiful experience, her clear heartfelt voice. Her voice and her songs can take you on a journey you have never been on before. Every note in Eva Cassidy's range is clear, and pure. Give this CD and all her CD's a listen, you won't be disapointed.
Sad, yes, because soon the vocal tracks that she did before she died will be all gone, and there will be no more to look forward to.

A friend bought this CD at Amazon for $6.99 (on November 24 2008). I went to buy it last night and found that Amazon had increased the price to $8.99. I put off the purchase, and went back this morning to find the price had increased to $13.99. I'm usually happy with Amazon, but has angered me to the point that bought it elsewhere. You can find much better prices at [...]. Great CD, BTW.

Yes! I can only hope there will be more CDs of Eva's singing. I have bought several CDs of Eva singing, and I can honestly say that I have yet to hear a bad song. It's sad that she left us with "... songs still in her."

Eva Cassidy has the most amazingly soulful and dead on pitch during her performances. I find it hard to believe that her perfect timing and pitch could conquer the likes of being recorded live. I highly recommend this album - the perfect blend of upbeat and mellow tracks to enjoy.

With the exception of the last song on the disc (Oh, Had I a Golden Thread), these songs were recorded live as Eva Cassidy performed and sang them -- no overdubs or substitutions -- and they sound great. Her voice is wonderful, bright, crisp and clear, and she has a way of making each song her own. The recording also includes her introductions to the songs. If you have her other CDs then you owe it to yourself to get this live set.

There aren't adequate words for me to describe how much I respect and admire the talent of this woman. Her story is a tragic one but her gift lives on...and on. There is great variety in this collection but her penchant for folksy blues is what stands out...always. And live performances in this genre, particularly in an intimate setting such as this, are usually better than studio recordings. If you haven't heard her yet...do it soon. If you have and don't have this particular CD...don't hesitate to buy it. You won't be sorry.

Eva Cassidy's tragedy adds to the legend of her talent- not the other way around!

"Live at Blues Alley" is a nice blues CD. Even the moaning and groaning that is done in blues songs sounds good, because it's done by Eva Cassidy, who has a rich, sweet voice.

The quality of the CD is good. It was recorded live, but there are no extraneous sounds, other than applause.

Eva sings like an angel. I get goosebumps every time I listen. Her voice is just so pure.

I love all music recorded by Eva Cassidy and am trying to learn guitar similar to her recordings. What a sad business she had to leave us so soon.

I was introduced to Eva Cassidy's music about 5/6 years ago. As I have read in all the reviews, she has the most amazing voice ever. I tell that to people all the time. She is my alltime favorite and I listen to every kind of music. I so miss the part of never being able to see her live, in concert. What a JOY that would have been. I love all the songs on these two CDS, but my favorites are: Over the Rainbow, Fields of Gold, etc... I am probobly going to purchase the remaining CDs. I just purchased the book, "Songbird." I can't wait to read all about her life.

I get emotional every time I listen to her and sometimes just thinking about her. She lives on through all of us who know that she has the best voice, ever. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Eva Cassidy was a minor celebrity on the Maryland-D.C. club circuit, with a small but devoted coterie of fans. Unlike bigger stars with smaller talents, Eva did not aggressively seek the limelight, but was content to sing whatever she liked, a trait that made her difficult to pigeonhole for the corporate packagers of pop. She seemed to be on the verge of stardom when she died, far too young, of metastatic melanoma in 1996 at age 33. She left behind a relatively small body of work cobbled together from studio and club recordings. But her popularity, against all odds, has continued to grow since her untimely death, and more than a decade later, Eva Cassidy is still winning fans. Her voice possessed extraordinary versatility and effortless grace: Alternately powerful and intimate, equally at home with folk, blues, jazz, soul, or show tunes. From track to track, her voice may be reminiscent of Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, or even Aretha Franklin. Eva was not a songwriter. All of her songs are covers or renderings of traditional songs. Her gift was not originality but perspicacity: She had an uncanny ability to penetrate to the essence of the music and communicate that in her performance. She shares with Allison Krause an almost painful vocal beauty, simplicity, purity and lack of adornment or showiness. The instrumental accompaniments on these mostly studio tracks are almost perfectly suited to her voice in their simplicity.

I have always listened attentively whenever a selection by this very talented musican came over the radio; however, it wasn't until I heard Cassidy's redition of Paul Simon's "Kathy's Song" on a folk music station that I finally bought a the CD that included that song. Cassidy's interpretation of a wide range of genres on this CD---from Irish folk ballad to pop to blues---is truly phenomenal and her delivery of all of them is as smooth as silk. That cancer took her young life is truly tragic, but her memory and angelic voice lives on in these beautiful songs.

This CD was my introduction to this great artist - recommended by friends - and I couldn't have been luckier. I believe this was her best effort.

Eva's bluesy takes on "oldies" certainly gave those songs a distinct sound. She does a Buddy Holly song, a Peggy Lee classic, John Lennon and Judy Collins classics, some wonderful folk favorites of mine ("Early Morning Rain") and standards like Tennessee Waltz and Danny Boy. In other words, she covers a number of genres, giving her special brand on each one.

Her version of Tennessee Waltz is absolutely spellbinding to me. Eva packed a lot of punch into her songs - real "soul," if you will. I've never quite heard such a haunting voice and unique interpretations of well-known songs.

She doesn't get rave reviews just for being another artist who died tragically young; she earned it for the way she sang. She was special and I think this CD shows it, bigtime.

I will always remember and thank my beloved brother, Thomas John Greene, who introduced me to Eva Cassidy some years ago. This is a beautiful album of her music (they all are). How can I not think of you, Tom, as I listen to Imagine... God bless your sweet soul (and Eva's too). Miss you. Love, Eileen

Eva is wonderful! Such a pleasure to listen to THAT voice. I love the way she does the old standards. "Danny Boy" will knock your socks off and bring a tear to your eye at the same time. If your an Eva fan as i am, this release will not dissapoint you. I love her and her voice quality is like no other i have ever heard. It does something to my insides that i can't explain. All I know is whenI listen to her I smile and she always makes me feel good. Outstanding!

"What a wonderful world" and "Over the rainbow" are two songs that I could listen to her sing everyday and never get tired of them or her. She is not your average everyday girl with a guitar. If you are an Eva Cassidy fan, don't buy this CD, there is nothing new here. Pony up and get the CDs these tracks came from, you will be rewarded with so much more than is on this disc. If you are not onto Eva yet, this is not a bad place to start, but its fast food. The original CDs are a banquet.

Ever since David Archuleta mentioned her name on The View I have been enjoying this angel's songs. She had such a beautiful voice and was really just beginning to realize her talent when she passed from her earthly body. I now own 5 of her CDs and my favorite songs include True Colors, I Know You By Heart, Time Is a Healer, and How Can I Keep From Singing. The quality on most of the albums is very good and it amazes me that some of the recordings were completed after her death using rough recordings and making them so beautiful. Thank You David for introducing me to Eva.

Eva Cassidy is one of the most gifted and versatile voices I have ever heard. She has more moods than the weather. Her voice is by turns, blissfully light and tender, salty, jazzy, but always pure and true. I love this singer, and I have a huge collection of female singers. She is among the best. What a terrible loss that she is no longer with us.

I thought this would make a great Christmas surprise for my sister who loved, loved, loved Shaun Cassidy when we were growing up. I had to endure "DaDoRunRun" & "Hey Deanie" every single day! but, I must admit now...the music was really catchy!

She was thrilled when she got this CD; I just got an email from her and she says it's brought back some great memories of her school-girl crush on a teen idol.

Of course, all his 'hits' are here, and that makes this a 'must have' CD for fans of Shaun Cassidy, since none of his albums are available on CD yet. However, where the lesser-known songs are concerned, I would have made different choices than Shaun did. "So Sad About Us" is OK, but not one of the better tracks from the Todd Rundgren-produced WASP album (which is BRILLIANT). I would have instead chosen the title track "WASP". It is simply fantastic- droll, ironic, and hysterically funny all at the same time & Shaun's totally UNHINGED performance is a revelation! I would also have preferred his cover of the David Bowie classic "Rebel, Rebel", another great off-the-rails performance and different enough from the Bowie version to make it his own.

"Do You Believe In Magic" is also not a song I would have chosen for this collection. I think that his cover of "Be My Baby" or even "Morning Girl" would have been stronger choices from his debut album.

I don't disagree with all of his choices, however. Shaun's version of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is officially my favorite version of this song now. It simply blows Great White's version out of the water (makes it sound like a piece of overproduced junk, quite frankly), and I prefer it over Ian Hunter's original recording as well. "Cool Fire" is also a great selection- one of the best songs from the WASP album.

All in all, it's a great CD, but you'll want to seek out the vinyl versions of his full albums as well if you don't already have them. There just simply isn't enough on this CD to properly represent all of the great material on Shaun's LPs. Hopefully, all 5 of his studio albums will be released on CD some day- Shaun and his fans deserve nothing less! :-)

I bought this for my cousin's 40th birthday. It is a fun blast from the past.

Loved Shaun Cassidy when I was in 2nd & 3rd grade. I've been looking all over for his songs. Couldn't get it on iTunes but Amazon had it. Now I can listen to Da Doo Ron Ron, Do You Believe In Magic & That's Rock 'n' Roll whenever I want to my kids disbelief. He's my Hanna Montana!

My 10 year old daughter discovered Shaun Cassidy by watching the old Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV shows on DVD. She loved the songs Shaun sang and the character of Joe Hardy. When she began asking for a CD of his music I wasn't very hopeful but I figured why not look on Amazon. When I told her it was available she was thrilled and more than willing to spend her own money to get the CD. It has all the songs from the DVDs plus some others. She is very impressed and listens the CD quite often and has asked that her Dad put it on her ipod.

The quality is quite good and it more than met her needs.

The music on this soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful! I can listen to it over and over. One of the best music purchases I have ever made!

When I first saw the film, I was too put off by the occasional grossness, but I was still pulled in and through the darkest plot by the hauntingly beautiful music. When I saw the film again, I realized that the film is darker and the music even more gripping than I first believed ... especially after a recent trip to Florence Italy which provides a central locale for much of the plot. The sounds hold the fabric of the film together. On a few tracks, Hannibal's narratives -- powerful in their commanding tones -- provide depth to the music. The final piece, based on Dante's La Vita Nuova, is worth the purchase of the CD itself. The album plays well, many times over. Hannibal's measured, polite evil is uniquely reflected through the tracks. I will rotate it through my playlist every few months to take that baroque trip back to the dinge and beauty and spectacle of Florence and Hannibal's passage ... marked at every turn by the narrative tones and masterful choral voice sounds of this mysterious yet approachable album.

I am having to replace my original CD of Hannibal as I've worn the first one out in the car. There are a couple of pieces from this soundtrack that are perfect for Freestyle Dressage riders.

Well I finally got a hold of the HANNIBAL soundtrack...and I gotta tell you...WOW. I knew logging onto Amazon that I had really enjoyed the film and I figured, "well since the movie was this great, the soundtrack must be pretty sweet"...I ended up falling in love with the music. It's very dark, yes, but what else is to be expected with Hannibal Lecter? Music about rainbows and laughter? I think not. But besides that, let me go on. This has to be one of the best soundtracks I've owned, and I encourage all Zimmer/Hannibal/Silence fans to own it...seriously

I bought this CD for one song in particular but now i like the whole CD.

Eva Cassidy is one of those people who managed to get discovered for great talent even without the help of American Idol. And I am so glad, because her voice remained so true, clear and wonderful that she produced this and a number of other really wonderful albums before her untimely death.

She has the kind of voice that makes you realize that only a very select few of singers really (no, really) can sing. These are all covers, and just simply wonderful, unique, beautiful, fantastic music.

I listen to her albums when I want something smooth, something sweet, something unique, and something great. It's not "easy listening", or "oldies"; it's great music redone in a new and uniquely fresh way.

I enjoyed the CD as I do all of Eva's music. Will definately order more.

How can someone who has sadly departed keep getting better?! Eva Cassidy is one of those "lost voices" whose recognition came too late. What a shame... she had a BRILLIANT career ahead of her, and this album is as good as I had expected. No disappointments here for Eva Cassidy fans!

Another great album by a great singer taken from us way too soon. A voice suited for different genres, but especially at home in jazz or the blues. This is the fourth album I have purchased of Eva's and I have enjoyed each and everyone. Such a beautiful voice. A must have for Eva Cassidy fans.

I have just about worn out this CD in the first 2 weeks after receiving it..She does a great job on all the cuts but I just love The Water is Wide and You Take My Breath Away..2 songs I had never heard before this CD. What a shame we won't be getting more from her.
