It's really good to have Chante' Moore back in flow. I have always been a fan of hers and I own all of her cd's. And in my opinion this is the best one she's done since Love Supreme which to me was by far her best.

This is one of her greatest cd's. The song "Give Me Time" will make you think of that special someone who came into your life and touch your heart.

Chante Moore has a pure voice of a beauty...she is at the top of her game. I have always been a fan of hers and she does not disappoint. I LOVE THIS ALBUM!

Chante Moore's latest is a treat to hear. It is especially great when she teams up with producer George Duke on the more jazz-inspired songs. Moore's combination of Chaka Khan-like syncopation with an Eartha Kitt sex-kitten quality easily carries her from R&B to Jazz. The stand out cut is "Guess Who I Saw Today". Its uncanny how much she sounds like the great Nancy Wilson who recorded it over 40 years ago.

Definitely a must have if you're a fan of this beautiful woman with the light and airy yet flexible voice.

I have got to say that i love this cd. I am once again a fan of Miss Chante . I cried when i first heard trak four . It spoke to me on so many levels . I myself have been in a relationship like this . Still loving each other but not in love anymore . What a great surprise to hear the remake of Nancy Wilson's Guess who i saw today . I was a kid when i first heard this song yet i could feel the pain she must have felt seeing your husband with another woman . All over i really felt a lot of these songs. Thank you Chante for the grown folks music . Keep going baby .

I was taking a trip down memory lane and remembered the good times I had listening to this CD. I didn't have time to go out to the store to buy it, nor would I have paid a high price for it. This site (love amazon) afforded me the opportunity to buy the cd for great a price. It was used but in excellent working condition. I'll give them 2 thumbs up!

I was exposed to Chante Moore through her hits "Love's Taken Over" and "It's Alright". I had the remixes to those songs. Then I bought the cd and discovered that Chante Moore's music really is angelic. I guess they spent alot of time in the studios in the 90's, because the production value to each of the songs is fantastic. I haven't gotten into ALL of the songs, but I have finally discovered the song, "Precious". This song is now one of my all time favourite r and b grooves. If you listened to it on a good sound system with headphones on, you can really get into it. I also enjoy the song, "Because you're Mine". Chante Moore is fabulous, I will probably venture into some of her other recordings in the future, u go Chante.

As soon as the last song went off, I knew I wanted to give "Precious" 5 stars. Usually it takes me a few minutes to decide how many stars I want to grant an album, but I instantly recognized this classic album for what it was. In her heyday, Chante' received lots of airplay, but I was so young when she was popular and never took notice to her voice and how beautiful it is. Now that I am an adult, I relate to her lyrics. This album has a very relaxing feel throughout, with no up tempo songs. It's completely void of fillers. The writers and producers of this album apparently took the time to make all of the songs quality.

"Love's Taken Over" and "It's Alright" are two of my favorite songs from the 1990's. These songs were released to the radio, so if you familiar with them and enjoy them, you will enjoy the rest of this album, of that I am certain. "Love's Taken Over" is a mid-tempo track about falling in love and not knowing what to do because of the joy it brings. "It's Alright" is one of the most inspiring songs I have ever heard: The repetition of "It's alright, it's alright" simply makes me feel better when I am afraid or in doubt. Chante' does a great job with harmony in "Precious" (the album's title track.) Her voice is angelic throughout the song and it features a piano solo that's worth mentioning. One thing I appreciate about this album is that the only track which features someone other than Chante' is "Candlelight and You", which features Keith Washington. Lately, R&B albums are inundated with rap versus and artists featuring other artists, and that is becoming so monotonous lately. "Candlelight and You" has a very romantic feel to it; it's something a couple can make love to. Chante's soft voice partnered with Keith's tender baritone make for a great duet. "Because You're Mine" and "As if We Never Met", while still great songs, are lackluster if comparing them to the rest of the album.

For those who enjoy instrumentation, there are a lot of sax and piano solos on this album. I highly suggest that all music lovers invest in this album. It's one of the best I've come across. Superb job Chante'!

This is definitely one of the best recordings that i've ever heard by any female recording artist that ever hit the studio. Every song on here from start to finish was excellent. Sometimes i don't think that Chaunte Moore was appreciated enough with her sultry voice. "Candlelight And You" is one of the best love songs ever made in my opinion. This is a cd that any real music lover should have in their collection. Especially when two lovers are together.

A Timeless classic in today's world of music all sounding the same. The voice of an angel and the only singer that can be compared to Minnie Riperton.

If the "Grammys" was created as an acknowledgement of the talent, i could wonder how this Chanté Moore's album hasn't won at least one of them, when it was released. But considering some of the winners that i've seen recently over their stage, my soul is suddenly relieved. Often they aren't looking about real talent, and real music, so everything comes clear. It's sad when i read reviews of very bad albums and i see people which gives a "five stars" ranking to them just because "he/she's a Grammy winner". This gives me more than a clue of how much the commercial promotion (something that i consider poorly related to the artistical value of a disk) can have an influence on today's musical tastes.
I share the opinion that the repertory of the first two albums of Chanté Moore has been a step above the more recent chapters of her discography. Probably, her old productions style was more suitable to catch the huge potentialities of her talent, and this has created a chemistry that we don't find when we listen her more recent releases. However, "A Love Supreme" is Chanté at her best, an album that every R&B lover must have in his personal collection, because it represent one of the rare examples of a successful merge between "old school" sounds and modern arrangements.
I've loved Chanté's voice since the first time that i've heard her classy and unique tone, and i must say that she's amazing in her live performances. Actually she's one of the few singers that can really "hypnotize" me! And when a performer can catch your attention in this way, simply with the sound of her voice (without the need of stellar scenographies and special effects) you can say that she's a true artist. And she is...definitely.

Her voice hypnotizes. The sultry sound of her voice makes you forget every problem you may have. This is a replacement because my Chante collection mysteriously came up missing. Please check out her duets with Keith Washington (I Love You) and one with Kenny Latimore (When I say I do) actually got married off those two. Don't forget "I Cry to Myself" from This Moment is Mine CD.....priceless. The list goes on so I will spare you. Check her out!

This is a replacement for many CD's that were stolen from my car. I love Chante as her voice is classic. I have grown to love her music more as it is hard to find singers like her now.

Terrific to see so many reviews on Chante's older works! I agree with the majority of them too - she's a tremendous artist and was a underrated. I'm not too sure why - maybe because she had such a bold approach and wasn't really into the main-stream pressure in her works. But at least the tunes are still out there and of all of her works that I've checked out, this is to me her best along with "Precious". Only this one steps out a little bit and delivers on the potential shown in Precious... heck, dating myself, but I was pretty young when this came out, and I remember how pumped I was in the record store when I saw it.

The direction for this album's on display from the beginning. "Searchin' "is a spoken word cut with a heavy beat and roll to it. But then "This Time" follows up, and it's loaded with funk & soul. An amazing blend of musical styles is on display here - along with very creative lyrical patters. All of it is delightful enough! "I'm What You Need" was another standout to me with a smoother flow while I also enjoyed her rendition of the old classic "Free". "Mood" has a kickin' attitude to it, and "Thank You for Loving Me" also had a larger than life build to it also. But "Am I Losing You" was easily one of the bigger stand-outs, thanks to it's simplicity and pure emotion in the song. She and her artists did a fantastic job of capturing the mood in the song, in my opinion.

I enjoyed this one. I don't think it was totally without fault, and not all the songs grabbed me. I also think what may have made this more of an absolute stunner would have been if more subtle, live instruments were used... I just think that sometimes they add even more class, life and longevity to the music. Chante Moore never really got all of the credit she deserved, and this really was an album that was sort of ahead of it's time to me. She blended different elements from different elemental styles here - it's something that artists have done before but it's something that a lot of neo-soul artists are heavy into doing right now (take Khari Simmons/Jiva, for example, or The Rebirth, or Break Reform). Ever since the duet she did with El Debarge a year (maybe more) before her first album, you knew she'd be special. Here's to hoping that she returns to this type of bold approach to the music.

Of course that was back in '95. Out of all of her CD this is her best work. There is not a bad song on this CD. Ol Skool loving still gets played several times in a row on my CD player. Grab this one before its out of print.

You should buy this compilation just for "Wey U" which is from the "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack from 1995. I believe it's been criminally slept on. Once the beat provided by Babyface drops, you'd think Sade was about to croon but in fact it's Chante Moore's sultry, airy vocals. It's not what she's saying but it's how she's saying it: Beautiful. "Love's Taken Over" begins with a hard hitting beat and goes into a laidback groove entailing a simple, yet impressionable hook that ultimately put Chante Moore on the mainstream map. "Who Do I Turn To?" is a little more fast-paced with nice production. "Old School Lovin'" is her breakout hit, soulfully romantic.
Get this compilation if you like R&B period!

If you have the rare ability to listen with your ears and your heart instead of listening to what the music industry calls "good," then I'm telling you that Chante Moore is definitely an artist that you will cherish and listen to non-stop. Her voice can be compared to any beautiful natural setting, the rising of the sun, twinkling of the stars, or delicate fluttering of a butterfly from flower to flower in the spring.

Although this greatest hits compilation doesn't even began to demonstrate all of Chante Moore's vocal abilities, it is a nice blend of all her previous work. Standouts are "Love's Taken Over," My Special Perfect One," and "Wey U (you must listen to Chante's backup vocals and the instruments of this track--no it's not tropical sounds--that's Chante Moore's incredibly sweet and high voice.) If Minnie Riperton were alive, I know she would be happy, like a proud mom. Also great collectibles include her latest release with her husband and musical partner, Kenny Lattimore, "Things That Lovers Do," her unbelievable cover of Minnie Riperton's "Inside My Love" (she adds her own sweet style and matches Minnie's incredible range). Most recently, Chante Moore collaborated with the smooth-jazz supergroup the Rippingtons to sing Aretha Franklin's "Till You Come Back to Me," which she totally redefines in her own special way.

Don't let the "singers/strippers" and the music industry of today dictate to you what is good music. Don't get me wrong, some popular singers of today are excellent. But there are many more who are not recognized by the majority, yet sound even better than popular artists , like Chante Moore.

If anyone has the "Candlelight & You Special" that aired on BET back in 93', I would like to get a copy of it on VHS or DVD (preferably). The VHS copy or DVD copy must be HIGH QUALITY (NO lines going up and down the screen, NO faded in and out of sound, etc., etc.). It also must be in it's entirety. I'm not just looking for part of the "Candlelight & You Special", but the whole segment. If you can provide this for me, I will give you the extended version of "As If We Never Met". When I first heard this CD, I fell in love with it. This couple did an excellent job and if you love R&B as much as I do, you're gonna love the lyrics in these songs. Listen to #5 very closely - it's my favorite and might turn out to be yours as well.

This project could have been produced so much better. Both singers have beautiful voices... just not together. This project could have been done better with Keith Washington and Chante Moore. Just because these two are a couple and are in love does not mean their emotions will come through the music. I love the songs. I dont love the production of the album.

I got this after I purchased the Uncovered/Covered CD. In my opinion, this is not as good as that project (I liked EVERY ONE of those songs), but it's still very nice. My favorite songs are You Don't Have To Cry, Love Saw It, Close The Door, and Here We Go. My least favorite song on this disc is Still. It doesn't work as a duet and it sounds like an afterthought.

I love this cd. My favorite tracks are 1. and track 5. "loveable". Every time I play this cd I always repeat the song "loveable". Please purchase this cd, its definately one to add to your R&B collection. You will not be disappointed

This album is very well put together and anything who likes adult R & B music will love this album. Even through the majority of this album is a cover album the songs are very well picked and the remakes are just remarkable. My personal favorites are "Is it still good to you" and "You're all I Need to Get By". Overall, this record did not do well in the stores in fact I never even heard of it. I just happen to come across it by fate on day at Samgoody while I was looking for a Patti LaBelle record. But ever since I brought it I have never put it down and I even had to start hiding it when company came over.

I attended a concert they did at a church and wasn't prepared to purchase the CD that day. Since then, I'd been singing their songs and looking for the CDs in every music store but couldn't find it. I really love it. It has beautiful love ballads for the loves of your life - Uncovered for romantic nights and Covered for giving God the praise. I strongly recommend.

LISTENING TO THIS CD IS "SWEET"! ENJOYED VERY MUCH EVEN BETTER IN PERSON. THEY BLEND PERFECTLY WELL TOGETHER AND IT SHOWS ON STAGE AS WELL AS ON TRACK.

This CD is remarkable!! I am a gigantic Chante Fan. I have been a fan since the "Precious" album when she performed "As if We Never Met" live on video soul with Donny Simpson. (took you way back then huh?) Her voice is indescribable. I have been searching for words to describe her voice for years and I am still unable to. Please check out "Just a Dream" on the uncovered CD (song 9) and you will get a glimpse of what I am talking about. She also performs magic on several other songs as well. There is a song...excuse me there will be SONGS on these CD's for everyone.

I have to give credit to Kenny as well. I have to admit, I was not a fan until they did their first album together. I actually got married off of "When I say I do" from that album and he brings a lot the CD as well. This is a must listen to CD, especially when you are with that special someone.

Both albums are wonderful from the beginning to the end. I DEFINITELY recommend this album.

I LOVE every song on Covered and Uncovered. That's hard to find in most artist, but this combination brings about such a varity. "Tonight" makes you feel like really two-stepping in sync with someone,, even if you don't really love them!! And "Figure It Out" is the new married woman's anthem for time to herself.... COVERED gives me the time during my morning worship to really praise the LORD and say that I am thankful for everything. I sing OUT LOUD in my car on my commute, and I know other people think I am Crazy!!!!! These are two tremendous voices, together in Love with each other and above all, GOD. I can't wait to see what's next.. Maybe a Christmas album??????????? But you will NOT be disappointed with this one!!!!

This is the most inane music. Who cares if Chante has a man? What is that?! Try writing some more far-reaching lyrics that address more social issues. Why does this music get so much attention? Try listening to Rage Against the Machine who write lyrics that actually make you think instead of numbing your brain. They have so much intelligence and metaphors woven into their music (and they actually write and play their own music, too, I might add). Stop googling over this pop R&B music just because MTV says it's cool. Think for yourself! I'll give her two stars for encouragement. --Kelly Magovern

I first got introduced to Chante's music back in the summer of 93 on the Precious album. And since then I have followed her career. I think that she continues to evolve into one of the most powerful soul divas on the scene today. Her latest work just shows more of what I have come to love, wonderful lyrics, great music, and a fabulous voice. If you have never heard Chante, do yourself a favor and give her your ear. She knows how to handle the rest.

I am a true fan of Chante. She is the bomb. I love her song and her whole CD!!!!She can sing and she does it from the heart. She is one lady I truely respect in the industry. I have been a fan since A Love's Supreme. She is just truely awesome and I also just love her titled single "This Moment is Mine!!" because it brings her out in the forefront and let other people know she is ready to shine!! I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. I love this album despite the critics and fans. This album shows her revealing sides that we fans have never seen. She explores the deeper and darker facets of personal life, daring to take her listeners along for the ride. It is a different side of the same smooth R&B artist that we have known since 1992. It is the close and personal rapport that she has with her audience that fuels her introspective songs and their deep meanings. She is always pushing her forward (her continuing evolution), looking for new ways to express the endless supply of emotions and details of love, life and beyond. Remember, this was 2000.

The people who gave this album such negative reviews obviously didn't make it past the first 5 tracks, seeing as how "Bitter" is pretty much the only song mentioned on a consistent basis (OMG she used the "N" word! Somebody call Farrakhan! Give me a break...).

The tempo may have been turned up a few notches, but Chante is still singing about what Chante has always sang about: love, relationships, and intimacy. People need to stop focusing on the beats and pay attention to the lyrics, which, with the exception of the slang-heavy "Straight Up," pretty much sound like they could have come out of any of her previous 3 albums.

Chante didn't do a disservice to her fans, her fans did a disservice to her by being so shallow and closed-minded, and as such, missed out on an album that, despite its missteps, is a solid effort worthy of being a Chante album.

I distinctly remember the day that I brought this disc home & listened to it for the first time. As track after track played I thought "what the (bleep) has happened to one of my favorite singers?" I tossed the disc on my 'never to be listened to again' pile and promptly forgot that I even had it in my collection.

Fast forward 8 years and I had a mini Chante Moore-athon and decided to give it a 2nd try. I really had to suspend my memories of Chante's previous albums so that I could listen to this without any prejudice & comparisons to those brilliant first 2 albums. Overally I truly understand the bind that music artists faced around this time, particularly African-American females in the r&b field. It was the dawn of the 'hip pop' era and EVERY artist was being forced to work with rappers and add elements of hip hop to what was traditional r&b/soul music. This collection was too drastic of a change for me as a Chante fan and to this day, I still can't recommend it to anyone.

Out of the 12 tracks, I only like 4: LOVE'S STILL ALRIGHT, TRAIN OF THOUGHT, M-A-N & BETTER THAN MAKING LOVE.

If only she'd been able to work on more tracks with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis - the ones that they produced made Chante's voice shine and featured lyrics and song sentiments that I enjoyed listening to (since comments have already been made about the horrible chorus of BITTER - I won't add my two cents).

Chante's voice still shines even on the less desirable tracks but that's the main problem I have with this album - there are too few enjoyable tracks from the strong vocalist I love and far too many unmemorable filler tracks.

Nice R&B album. I think all except Bitter will stay on my computer. Four star for the song. But it looses 2 star due to the copy-protection; installs itself without warning when I forgot to turn off autoplay. Evil.

I have mixed emotions about this release by one of my favorite female singers. For the most part it's not what you say but how you say it, but in this case, it's backwards. What I mean is I LOVE her voice!!!! Even earlier in her career, the smooth, softness of her singing (mainly from her first 2 releases) makes you wish that you had a woman at home that could sing to you the way that she does. Which leads me to this CD; I STILL LOVE her voice, but some of the songs don't do justice to her capabilities. How she sings is still a wonderful eargasm, but WHAT she sings just ain't what I'm used to hearing from her. Overall, the CD isn't bad.........but if you really want to hear Chante' at her best, grab "Precious" and/or "A Love Supreme".

This is a really well-produced album that features classic Chante ballads & mid-tempo groove and a few uptempo tracks that didn't cross over the line into pandering to the hip hop crowd. I think this album is a perfect progression from her classic debut & sophmore albums and listening to it again, I realized that I liked more than I disliked:

IF I GAVE YOU LOVE - Rodney Jerkins produced track that sounds too much like Jennifer Lopez's IF YOU HAD MY LOVE (he should be ashamed that he did this to Chante)

CHANTE'S GOT A MAN - I'm still "meh" about this song but Chante sounds great

I SEE YOU IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT - JoJo & Chante's voices sound terrific together

EASY & I CRY TO MYSELF - two classic Chante ballads featuring strong music production & pretty lyrics

HEARTBEAT - Jermain Dupree produced track that DOES NOT go overboard on hip hop beats or force Chante into a mold that doesn't work, this is a nice uptempo track

I'VE GOT THE LOVE - nice reworking of a classic Rufus/Chaka Khan track

IN MY LIFE - another pretty ballad, notable because Robin Thicke wrote & produced the track

THIS MOMENT IS MINE - closeout ballad, again the beautiful lyrics & music production stand out.

I'd highly recommend this disc to Chante Moore fans - it's an excellent collection of songs and Chante sounds great!

This Moment Is Mine finds Chante Moore at the top of her game, crafting an contemporary soul album that manages to avoid most of the cliches of the genre. As a matter of fact, the 14 songs that comprise This Moment Is Mine unmistakably follow the pattern for urban soul, whether it's the slow grooves of the ballads or the midtempo dance cuts. The difference is delivery. Moore never shout, she keeps her focus on the song at hand, delivering each line as if she has lived it. That, combined with the good production and an excellent selection of songs, makes This Moment Is Mine a first-rate urban soul album.

I love this CD. This album sounds different from the previous two hit albums. This album is a 12-song opus that chronicles her unique and intimate observations about love, affection, and commitment. This album is the crown jewel of Chante's career. Chante stays true to her formula of mixing musical ingredients like a master chef by enlisting the creme de la creme producers. Remember, this was 1999.

Simply put it, Chante wanted to go mainstream and put togetther this car wreck of a CD, and got some okay results. That inspired her to follow up with that crappy CD "Exposed", in which her career has yet to recover from. But enough with that.

The okay results, were the first two released tracks, "Chante's Got A Man" and "I See You In A Different Light" (duet with JoJo Hailey). These two tracks are definately different from her previous work, and yes they come off well, especially the duet with JoJo. She got a nice buzz from that. But neither track did nothing to help this album stand out or side by side with "Precious" and "A Love Supreme".

The experiment goes wrong with the tracks laced by Jerkins and Dupri., especially the Jerkins produced "If A Gave Love", which starts off sounding like Brandy & Monica's, "The Boy Is Mine" and then rips off Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love", (now I heard of beat jacking, but knowing that Jerkins produced all three of these tracks, this here takes the cake, that and finishing what was left of Michael Jackson's musical career).
YUCK!!!!, I mean Chante is 100 times more talented than all three of those women and Rodney Jerkins combined, needless to say I always skip that track. "Heartbeat", wasn't helping matters either, then there's "I've Got The Love" and "I Started Crying" (me too @ 13.99 plus tax I will never have again), and now I'm ready to trash this CD. Mainstream isn't worth all of this.

But then came tracks like "Easy", "I Cry To Myself", "In My Life", "Love And The Woman", and "This Moment Is Mine", which saves the album from the pits of suckdom. This where Chante shines, and shows why fans care about her. In all, I say it's a good CD, but you know deep inside you could have gotten better.

Easy, I've got the love, In my life, Cry to myself, all these songs are great. The one thing though, is the song 'If I gave love' -words, tune, beat are almost identical to J.Lo's 'If you had my love' from On the 6, which was released about the same time as This Moment. I even get mixed up sometimes when I sing it. Rodney Jerkins sound is not unique if he is giving it to everybody (per Brandy about her Full Moon album-she sounded like Brittanie Spears and everybody else he was working with at the time.) Thats why she went to jermaine dupree and other folks on the Exposed album. But Chante is a true talent.

I attended a concert they did at a church and wasn't prepared to purchase the CD that day. Since then, I'd been singing their songs and looking for the CDs in every music store but couldn't find it. I really love it. It has beautiful love ballads for the loves of your life - Uncovered for romantic nights and Covered for giving God the praise. I strongly recommend.

LISTENING TO THIS CD IS "SWEET"! ENJOYED VERY MUCH EVEN BETTER IN PERSON. THEY BLEND PERFECTLY WELL TOGETHER AND IT SHOWS ON STAGE AS WELL AS ON TRACK.

This CD is remarkable!! I am a gigantic Chante Fan. I have been a fan since the "Precious" album when she performed "As if We Never Met" live on video soul with Donny Simpson. (took you way back then huh?) Her voice is indescribable. I have been searching for words to describe her voice for years and I am still unable to. Please check out "Just a Dream" on the uncovered CD (song 9) and you will get a glimpse of what I am talking about. She also performs magic on several other songs as well. There is a song...excuse me there will be SONGS on these CD's for everyone.

I have to give credit to Kenny as well. I have to admit, I was not a fan until they did their first album together. I actually got married off of "When I say I do" from that album and he brings a lot the CD as well. This is a must listen to CD, especially when you are with that special someone.

Both albums are wonderful from the beginning to the end. I DEFINITELY recommend this album.

I LOVE every song on Covered and Uncovered. That's hard to find in most artist, but this combination brings about such a varity. "Tonight" makes you feel like really two-stepping in sync with someone,, even if you don't really love them!! And "Figure It Out" is the new married woman's anthem for time to herself.... COVERED gives me the time during my morning worship to really praise the LORD and say that I am thankful for everything. I sing OUT LOUD in my car on my commute, and I know other people think I am Crazy!!!!! These are two tremendous voices, together in Love with each other and above all, GOD. I can't wait to see what's next.. Maybe a Christmas album??????????? But you will NOT be disappointed with this one!!!!
