Chicane

I love Chicane's music, the only CD that I was able to find easy was "behind the sun" so when I found it here I had no doubt in buying it. It is a little different than "Behind the sun" but the essence is quite the same, so if you like Chicane this is a "must buy".

This album is a must for any serious Chicane fan. The beats and mixes are top notch.

am totaly contented with what I received ... and 1 of the CD received early 4 days earlier then than the date mentioned.. so am totaly satisfied... I will repeat buying other stuff from amazon. tanks

I can't say enough good things about this music.. if you like electronica at all, it's worth having in your collection (if you can obtain a copy at a resonable price). this album takes you on a musical journey like no other album I have heard.. it's a great source of inspiration for me even though I have heard it so many times.. it starts off soft and dreamy, slow, then builds.. and gets to 138bpm dance speed music.. the transition is done so well that it's very easy to listen to, even if you're not in the mood for fast music.. it's so powerful it drenches you with emotion and carries you away from whatever you were feeling before.. I have to say the world became a better place when this music was composed. 5 starts for sure!

I cannot stress how amazing this album is to me. I find that from the day that I acquired a copy of it from my partner I was mesmerized. I quickly went out and bought an actual copy for myself.

Now that it has been years since my first initial listen, I can still say that this album is still one of the best album I have ever listened to. I actually find it to be better than FFTMC by Chicane which to many is his finest album to date. Although I must add that I do not think any Chicane album (including Somersault) deserves negative comments as I think they are all better than half of the crap that is released.

Anyhow, my favorites on this album are "Autumn Tactics (Justine Suissa is unbelievable), Saltwater, Don't Give Up and Overture" but there really is no low point in this album. Truly euphoric, refreshing and atmospheric. I just wish Chicane would release more, his talents are (at least to me) divine.

Seriously, you'll love it or you can send it back...ok, but they won't refund it. You won't send it back.

This is the best electronic music album I have EVER heard. This is the stuff that changes peoples perceptions about chillout, house, and trance music. Every person I have ever played this to has bought a copy, and sings the same praises about it. From its beautiful, melodic soundscapes, to crisp and perfect mastering and sound quality, to it's diverse and well thought out track sequencing. Melodic and ethereal downtempo, coastline breaks, beach and sunset inspired house...It's all here, in all it's cinematic brilliance. This is my favorite album of all time from any genre. If you have ever wanted an album you can play all the way through over and over again, this is it.

"Saltwater", here in both club and ambient versions, is the kind of song you NEED to hear before you die. It is the last song I want to hear before I pass, and any music lover or dance music fans should have this album in their life.

This album is one of Chicane's best. There is a great diversity of tracks, but the album is a bit short. If you like trance, you'll love this album.

If you like easy listening electronic music, Im pretty sure that this albums in now consider as a classic, or a must have, name it as you want to. This albums is great. Melodic, strong beats, nice arrangements, great colaborations (Bryan Adams,Maire Brennan )My favorite song is autumn tactics it's wonderful, it's an album to listen in the beach through the sunset having a daiquiri, you oughta love it.

The only reason I didn't gave it 5 stars it's because I think it should have mixed transitions between tracks.

This album is a letdown. The only redeeming track would be "Turning Corners". I had this album fly 1/2 way round the world only to listen to tracks that do not even come a mile close to the previous releases.

Verdict: DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM!

What gets me is when an artist gets grief for doing something a little different. Chicane has always been at the top of my playlist since first hearing "Far From The Maddening Crowds" and "Behind The Sun" and yes there was a certain amount of excitement I felt having heard that Chicane was releasing a new album. But for the reviews of this album to be so negative I feel they are just unwarranted.Its a fun pop-dancey album with decent vocals and it is not bad at all... Not one song could I say is bad and all the songs are easily listenable.... Sure I would have liked to have seen Chicane put out another masterpiece but this work is by far not an embarassment. Lighten up people...

I don't even know what to say. I am disappointed on so many levels.
First, "Easy to Assemble" never came to be. Heard his new label wanted it re-done. Then this? This is just a bunch of cheap electro pop songs.
The reason I bought it is for the song "Time of Your Life" of which they have a sample called Part II on his website. Well of course it is nothing at all like the sample is and so I'm out $25. This version of "Spirit", which was actually like-able for me on the "ETA" album, has been re-worked into a soul-less version to match all the other songs.
And way, way back when "ETA" was announced there was a sample of "Arizona Part I" on his website which was so much better than "Part II" and where did that go?
Where did Nick B go? Where did his thoughtful, haunting, melodies go? His cool beats? His layers of original music? Where did his music, that took you somewhere when you listened to it, go?
I guess if you are outside flipping burgers with your friends (as shown on the cover) is when your gonna listen to this, then it will be fine. It will blend in with everything else that's in your changer....unfortunately.

Firstly, I will agree with many others when I say this is not what I expected when I picked up the new Chicane CD. Yes, it is more pop and less chill.

However, there is a little bit for everyone on this album, from the phenomenal "Stoned in Love" which will get you revving your engine or breaking a sweat on the dance floor, to the familiar chill of "Arizona".

If you expect Chicane to be a stagnant one trick pony, you will probably not like this album. On the other hand, if you respect his artistic brilliance, and want to hear how his sound evolves, you will be listening to Somersault over and over and over. I will also add that Jack Starks does a superb job complimenting the instrumental riffs and grooves of Somersault. And Tom Jones' contribution to "Stoned in Love" will keep you craving more for weeks.

I for one, already can not wait to see where Chicane brings us next.

I'm not too impressed with this album. There are a few very enjoyable songs, but I have Behind the Sun as well and like that album much more. I did hear that Chicane was a little rushed while making Somersault, but it's still just not as good as I thought and hoped it would be.

While I usually feel hesitant to purchase 'Inspired by' CDs, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this CD topped the original Hackers CD. The music on this one was as good and even better! I believe none of the songs were actually in the movie, but the music is similar and full of energy and thump.

A great addition to the collection. If you liked this one or the original hackers, you should also look to purchase hackers 3 as it was my favorite of all series.

If you like electronic music and liked the hackers soundtrack, buy THIS volume. It has a very good selection of music, and not so common tunes from the artists involved. If you are an electronic music fan it's quite possible that you have already many tracks of the first volume. I can't say the same thing about volume two, which in my opinion has a far better selection.

Honestly... buy it NOW. You won't regret it.

I love techno, so I really got into this Album. The mix is excellent, and it makes great music for a party. But if you don't like hard-core techno like Prodigy, you probably won't enjoy this album. Warning: if you play this in the car, you're likely to drive 15 miles over the speed limit! :)

"Hackers" may have been a not-so entertaining movie (to me) but the music that went along with the film was and still is awesome. I only have the first two volumes. I like the original soundtrack slightly more but the second volume is quite good. Either way, "Hackers" has some of the hottest techno acts today, from Prodigy to the legendary Orbital. A former roommate owned "Hackers 2" and I immediately fell in love with it. Gotta love the Emirion Mix of Prodigy's "Firestarter". I wasn't big on the original version of "Firestarter" but I thought the Empirion Mix gave the song a much added energy that the original version was lacking. Plus the remix is a lot more danceable than the original version. "Hackers 2" was my first introduction to Brian Transeau (aka BT). The same can be said about Chicane. I just loved Luce Drayton's "To Be Loved" (Disco Citizens R+D Edit). Luce reminds me quite a bit like dance diva Jan Johnston. I wasn't really wild about the intro to Orb's "Toxygene" but once I got passed the samples, I got into the actual song. I just could have lived without the cluttered noises in the beginning. I think Leftfield's "Original" is one of the sexiest songs around thanks in part to Curve's Toni Halliday. "Original" certainly has a trip hoppy element to the song. I wasn't really crazy with the original version of David Bowie's "Little Wonder" however I thought the Danny Saber Dance Mix made the song much more interesting (just like the Empirion Mix of "Firestarter"). I wasn't too big on Scooter's "Fire". It just wasn't one of my favorite songs on the cd. Overall "Hackers 2" certainly is one of my favorite soundtracks that uses today's hottest techno acts around.

Note: My burnt version of the cd does not have "Go", by Moby, which is a great song, and only adds to the greatness of the soundtrack.

My Comments: The first song on the cd is a hard-hitting, eight minute mind-blower that every other cd revolves around. Although nothing like the original Firestarter, the Empirion mix is no less, if not more, incredible. I can't say much about this song, except that you have to listen to it In all aspects, it is flawless, if not perfect.

Toxygene - Orb

My Comments: A great song, by one of the most well known techno artists in the industry! This song has heavy bass is one of the most original electronic songs I've ever heard. It's could almost be considered a "classic" Notice: just because you like this song, don't go buying Orb's other cd's! Their other cds are nothing like this song (mostly), and you may (or may not) like their other albums.

Little Wonder (Danny Saber Dance Remix) - David Bowie

My Comments: One of the best dance songs on the cd! Hell, it IS the best dance song, even though I don't like it too much. I never thought anything with David Bowie in it could be cool, and except for this one song, nothing can, anyway.

Fire - Scooter

My Comments: One of Scooter's best songs OF ALL TIME! Even though every one of the Hacker's songs are great party tracks, this is the one that IS THE BEST. If the Bowie remix doesn't get people dancing, this'll get them jumping, and if they don't in any way positively respond to this song, they're dead. Notice: If you like this song, go get all of Scooter cds.

Narcotic Influence 2 - Empirion

My Comments: Incredible. Possibly my favorite song on the cd. This has a cool, smooth lasting appeal that truly does border on the edge of having a narcotic effect on one. Although not EVERYONE will like this song, many will, but some may find it a bit boring. My friend said,"It's like a boring version of the Firestarter remix, except without any climaxes." Well, both songs are done by the same artist, Empirion (The Firestarter remix is really nothing like the original song!), and admittedly, although it is nothing bad, alot of his songs are alike

Remember - BT

My Comments: I guess every song on this cd wins one sort of award or another, and this wins for MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG. It is entrancing, heart-felt and driven by incredible female lyrics. Some, (only those with immature music tastes) may find this unnappealing and mellow, (I even did at first!) but I beg to differ! This song is fast paced with tons of electronic elements in it, and BT is (in my opinion) the best electronic artist to blend female vocals with electronica. This is a perfect song.

Go - Moby

My Comments: What can I say? It's a great dance song, nothing spectacular or remarkable, but nothing bad about the song, either. I'm not the biggest Moby fan, and I enjoy a lot of his music, and this is one of the party tracks that he's most well known for. (Next to. . . Bodyrock, perhaps.)

Inspection (Check One) - Leftfield

My Comments: This wins the coolest song on the cd award. Combining heavy bass and head-nodding rythm with brilliant electronic aspects, something which Leftfield does best. This is, IMO, Leftfield's best song they have ever made. In FACT, this is my second favorite hip hop sort of techno that I've ever listened to (Smartbomb, by BT, my number #1)

Cherry Pie - Underworld

My Comments: What can I say? It's Underworld, and this is the only place (I think) where you can get this masterpiece. It doesn't, in any way, change or redefine Underworld's image, only refines it, definetely one of my favorite songs by them. Not everyone will like this song, as many don't prefer Underworld's kind of electronica.

To Be Loved (Disco Citizens R-D Edit) - Luce Drayton

My Comments: I don't know who the hell Drayon is, but it's still a pretty good song (I'd hate to hear the original version!!). Actually, it still gets a really high rating, but is probaly the least best song on the cd, the female vocals and entire song being enshadowed by BT's massive Remember track. If you like this song, you'll like Remember alot more. That's all I can say.

Speed Freak (Moby Remix) - Orbital

My Comments: Definetely the fastest, wildest song on the soundtrack. There is no other techno song like this, by anyone. (Except, of course, for the original song. If you like this, you'll like Moby, but you still might not like much of Orbital's stuff. (I didn't like In Sides, although Middle of Nowhere was one of my favorites). My friend thinks this song is freaking awesome, and it is.

Get Ready To Bounce(Radio Attack) - Brooklyn Bounce

My Comments: What the hell is a "radio attack"? I guess they mean "radio edit", but anyway, it's still a great song, keeping up the pace near the end of the cd. My friend and I call it the "Kool-aid" song, because it sounds like the song off a koolaid commercial. (Although this song came out, like four years before the commercial, so we should be calling the koolaid commercial the brooklyn bounce commerical!)

Offshore (Disco Citizens Edit) - Chicane

My Comments: An entrancing, soothing song which was smartly left for the near-end of the cd. Incredibly beautiful, almost as beautiful as Remember. (Even though the two songs are NOTHING alike!) Although surprisingly short, even shorter than most pop songs, which I thought was odd, I still loved it, and still do love it, although I not crazy over it like most of the other songs.

Original - Leftfield

My Comments: At once haunting and beautiful, with the dreary, smooth female lyrics making the song a definite legend. That's about all I can say about this brilliant track. Listen to it yourself, and you'll find out why it's so good. Maybe that is because no other electronic sounds anything like it. . .

I think that far from the maddening crowds is a better album, but I love anything Chicane. Their music is just so soothing to listen to.

I've do not own any Chicane CD's (they're not really available in South Africa), but I got 2 songs from a friend "Saltwater" and "No Ordinary Morning" - my favourite songs! So I decided to get this CD and I'm definitely not disappointed! Although I was hoping to get more vocals, as in the 2 songs I had. But still a great buy for a Chicane fan! And the DVD is a bonus :)

Chicane's re-release of the 2nd album Behind the Sun is a great album which includes the music videos released from the album (mostly which are hard to find) its is kind of a shame that they did not include all the videos from chicane. but hey ill take what i can get. definitly worth getting the dvd edition instead of just the album.

The DVD contained in this package utilizes the PAL video format. So, you'll be unable to view it on your television unless it can decode a PAL signal. One way to get around this problem is through the use of your computer's DVD drive and a free Windows program named, "DVD Shrink." I was able to successfully view the videos on my computer using DVD Shrink version 3.1.

The soundtrack to the Movie hackers was great, Hackers 2 "inspired by" the movie was even better and to my surprise Hackers 3 was even better! Third time's the charm certainly applies to this CD and the series. All three were great and worth purchasing. If you only purchase on of the three though, I'd suggest this one!

He talkded about the missing song 'Squeeze - Heaven Knows' but you can find that song on the Original 1st Hackers Soundtrack. It's the alst track (Track 14)

P.S. Hackers is one of my all-time favourites, and ONE of the reasons why, is because of the excellent music they use...Especially when Dade and Kate (Crash & Burn) start battling it out on The Prodigy's 'ONE LOVE'...AMAZING!
I have the european DVD, so unfortunetely I do not have the 8-page booklet! (Damn!) And the DVD CHEAT (When you can watch an extra GIBSON Animation when you press the LEFT button to highlight the 'Hackers' logo) does not work on my DVD!! :( I can't buy the American one either, because it is Region 1, and even thoug it works on my DVD player, i would rather want all my DVD's to be Region 2 (For respect of my friends' DVD players)

The selection of artists is good though still throughout all three cd's the balcony song is missing( Massive Attack: Radiation ruling the nation).Still an album where you can pick anyone of the artists and buy the cd and be happy.

This gratifying non-album single from Chicane fits squarely between Chicane's two full-length albums - the seminal "Far From The Maddening Crowds (1997)" and the equally satisfying "Behind the Sun (2000)".
More than anything, this single was hinting at the direction Chicane was going with his music as vocals featured much more prominently in "BTS" than in "FFTMC".
British singer Mason lends her vocals to this single which features a Radio Edit for the required short play time on stations, but the crown jewel is Chicane's full-length version (track 2) which let's Chicane do what he does best... let your ears unwrap a song the way you like to unwrap a really special present from a loved one. Mason's voice lends a soulful, dusky hue that compliments the lush pads and moving basslines wrapped in a symphonic package that are a Chicane trademark. The song is deceptively simple in it's progression, relying increasingly on the grandiose pads and letting Mason get out in front with her soulful voice.
The Disco Citizens Remix is a much more progressive house sound which basically means it's much more club friendly, with less nuance and more stabby-synths to make it more danceable. But if you're the type to listen to music for listening sake, than the Original Version is the one for you.
This single was a nice treat from Chicane while fans awaited his follow-up to Maddening Crowds, and it still doesn't dissapoint.

I thought I had most of what Chicane has done, but I was in a bar and saw the video to "Strong in Love". Wow! His music has such a calming yet strong presence to it. Did you know he mixed two of Cher's new songs?!! I stumbled upon him by accident a couple years ago and I just can't say enough about his work. If you like him, this CD is worth getting, the vocals are fabulous, and the mixing is in his extraordinary styling.

This maxi-singl is the best thing .It is the language of something special,something from the god .It is not created by human beings .Don`t Give Up that is message to the world specialy because I live in Bosnia & Herzegovina .That message is to my people too .War and death that can be past with this song .Music is great ,litle bit of trance and ambient and chill .Great I dont have words for that.Unique kind of Music.greetings for Amazon Sales Team ,and for all lovers of that kind of Music . djmumi@n2music.com
