Christina Aguilera

Let me start off by saying that I'm a huge Christina fan. I think she's an incredibly talented young lady with a powerhouse voice. However, the theme of this album is suppose to be a tribute to traditional jazz and blues music from the 20's, 30's, and 40's. Christina has openly said that she wanted this album to reflect on old jazz music. However, the album only achieves this on 2 or 3 tracks. "Candyman" and "I Got Trouble" sound like authentic jazz tunes that could've been recorded in the 1940's. "Nasty Naughty Boy" is a sultry, seductive song that sounds like it's straight out of a 1920's burlesque strip show. The rest of the album is filled with up-tempo pop tracks (Slow Down Baby, Aint No Other Man), sappy love songs (Save Me From Myself, The Right Man), overdone vocals (Hurt, Mercy On Me), and filler tracks that don't stand out at all (On Our Way, Without You). With a 2 disc album, I expected much more from Christina.

The main problem I have with this album is its lack of continuity. If you're going to aim for a specific theme on an album, stick with it throughout the entire thing. Christina wanted to pay homage to jazz, but she didn't do a very good job. The 2 opening tracks of the cd talk about how she's going to "go back to basics to where it all began", but this album hardly does that at all. It doesn't achieve what it sought out to do, and that's the biggest disappointment of all. Christina had a great idea with this album, and if done correctly I think it could've been fanatastic. But it was misdirected and poorly executed. Good idea in theory, but done all wrong.

I would pay to hear Christina sing the alphabet. She gets better with each new CD.

"Makes Me Wanna Pray" it just makes you wanna get out of your chair and dance. She performed it on 'Ellen' Look it up on youtube it's that good.

"Ain't No Other Man" I was excited when I heard this song, Christina had been saying that this CD was gonna be a throwback to the early jazz days. It's a great song that fuses pop/jazz.

"Understand" This is my favorite song on the entire CD Why was this never released as a single?!?!?!

"FUSS" For me this song is a lowpoint-It stands fro F You Scott Storch, the man who co-wrote several songs on the "Stripped" CD I guess they had a falling out. Christina, you're better than this.

"Candyman" Such a fun dance pop number, it kinda reminds me of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" mixed with Lou Bega's "Mambo #5" The video is fun to watch-like a candystore come to life. I'm still confused why radio didn't accept this song. Maye cuz there's no rapper on it.

"Nasty Naughty Boy" Such a big seductive number, I imagine strippers dancing to this one on the pole! "I'll be the first to blow... your mind"

"Hurt" Again beautiful ballad. Strong vocals, lots of emotion.

RCA only released 3 songs from this CD. WHY??? Two CDs full of songs and only 3 songs?! So many pop stars rush out albums but Christina takes her time and releases good quality music. I can't wait to see what she does next!

She just get's better with every CD she delivers.

The Back to Basics Intro pretty much sums up how the listener feels after listening to the first note of this record.

As a Christina fan from the very beginning, I have been continually amazed by her versatility. Whether it be bubble-gum pop, soul, gospel, r&b, or even hard rock, Miss Aguilera has always pulled it off perfectly. Her changes always go beyond the studio and into her appearance, so when the world saw The Artist Formerly Known as Xtina ditch her assless chaps and dreads in favor of a "Baby Jane" title, Marylin platinum curls, and siren-red lips, I knew the record would be something unlike anything the world has heard before from the multiple Grammy winner.

Back to Basics does not disappoint. Some criticize the record for being less-personal and raw than Stripped, but really, it is just as honest as the previous record. The only difference is, the artist in question is just happy now.

The newly married Mrs.Bratman is clearly finally finding inner peace, and her husband's love has cured the previously visible emotional scars from her tumultuous childhood.

Songs celebrating her love for her husband and new outlook on life dominate much of the first disc, with songs like "Makes Me Wanna Pray", "Without You", "Understand", and, of course, the Grammy-winning "Ain't No Other Man."

Since Christina refrains from parading her private life in the public, some songs also serve to send messages to her fans about her life. "F.U.S.S." is a completely skippable track, but it serves to answer the lingering questions concerning Scott Storch. "Thank You" is also by no means a hit single, but it's sweet and nicely brought to life in concert.

Many tracks, for that matter, are clearly meant for perfoming. "Nasty, Naughty Boy" is not much to listen to on the album, but when seen live on her Back to Basics tour, you realized why the song was there. The same applies for "Welcome", and the two intros.

Overall, Back to Basics is different, fun, and a display of stunning talent. I speak for many of us when I say that we cannot wait to see what the next album will be like, especially since she is now going to be writing from a totally new perspective: Mommy Christina.

This is a very good - she is very talented with a good voice- this is the first CD from her I've ever bought I recommend it

brilliant it's not. it's not even great, but somehow it's worth buying. The album is bold, sometimes agressiv, sometimes sad, shows us a moment in her life that she was truly strugling to find her self. The result is 18 songs and 2 intros that variate from rap to pop and soul, giving you the bless of one of the most beautiful pop records ever released - the record "beautiful". If beautiful is not enough reason to buy the album, her voice definately is. From her first album to this one aguilera really improved in her vocal skills, earning comparison to one of the greatest voices of all time, whitney houston. Outside from "beautiful" and her voice it self the album is deeply honest, christina took part in every part of it's production, from writing and composing to producing it. If you are looking for a brilliant album, buy "back to black" from amy winehouse, "rockferry" from duffy or "not ready to make nice" from dixie chicks. If you like listening to powerfull vocalists or if you admire christina, buy this album, you won't regret it.

As a singer I use Christina's material for my vocals. I don't love her music through and through but adore the song's Beautiful, Ain't no other man, Hurt and Candyman but all the other filler music is not usable for me and my vocals. Christina has a very sharp voice. It might do her best to do some more soft to the ear stuff but who am I? She still is an awesome singer though! This album only has one decent song, thats why I think I got it so cheap on Amazon.

This is a good cd, but it is nothing like what I expected. There's no doubt that Ms Aguilera is all grown up. Powerhouse vocals throughout. The tunes range from loungy cool, to powerful anthem, to all out pop. If you're expecting another pop cd that's all about dancing and boys, this is not it. But, if you're interested in strong vocals having something to say, this is a good cd to have.

My second album by her, and Stripped is just well put together and "raw" sounding. Very much one of her best albums and her vocals on this album are just exceptional..unreal compared to other female artist in her same category, except nobody compares to date to how diversified Chrstina is as an artist and it shows on this album too.

With songs like Fighter, Gonna Keep on Singing My Song, and The Voice Within this album is inspiring and empowering. Her voice is amazing. You can hear emotions through her many voices. I know that people already have made up their mind on her. I will say this AT FIRST I couldn't stand her I thought she was another blonde hair bimbo but when this album came out I realized she was not only intelligent, but has depth.

I think people misjudge her as being a Diva when in reality she was abused as a child and had a rough life so they mistake security with being cold. It could have been so easy for her to become another Britany BUT she didn't. She is underated.

Every song on this album has it's own little story and it's an album with meaning. In a world with rehab celebs and an heiress becoming little an idol for little girls people underestimate Christina Aguilera. Everyone judges her and look at her now married and having a child the right way. She seems more mature than her peers and has incredible talent. I can't say enough good things about her she is always doing what she feels is right and doesn't care what others think about her. Ok I could go on all day but the bottom line is:

"With a voice like that you should be considered a legend in the making."

I lost mine and was glad to be able to find one. I play it for me and my son. Thank You.

My daughter (17 years old) loves the music to this movie, and begged me to try and find the soundtrack. I generally come to Amazon for DVDs, CDs, and Books, I can generally be assured that I can find them here on Amazon.com. I have not personally listened to the CD, but my daughter has it loaded on her ipod, she seems happy with it...

The sound track is excellent. Lea Solanga is outstanding and the selection of music is great. I found only one possible flaw and that was in the order of the tracks. I think it would been a much better flow if A Girl Worth Fighting For was followed by The Burned Out Village. As it stands now the song ends abruptly. The next track is True to Your Heart. The Burned Out Village should have followed "Girl . . .". The two are connected in the film so I think it proper that they be linked on the soundtrack. I think this is a big enough problem that I decided to downgrade my rating. A little more care and thought into the ordering of the selections would have made for a better soundtrack CD.

And Lea Salonga has an amazing voice! I won't repeat what others have already said here about the wonderful (if incomplete) score; what I have noticed, however- unless they have updated and re-released this album since I bought it- is that the track titled "Mulan's Decision" is NOT the same music used in the actual movie at the point where Mulan makes the decision to take her father's place. Disappointing, since that is one of the best scenes in the film.

This is BY FAR the BEST disney movie soundtrack since...EVER! The Songs are GREAT, the voices singing them are EXCELLENT, and the score is INCREDIBLE! This is even BETTER than Titanic or the Lord of the Rings music! Believe me, if you buy this you will NOT be disappointed!!!

Christina Aguilera's debut album had some really cheesy and manufactured songs. She sold a lot of albums and won a Grammy for Best New Artist, and the girl can sing her damn heart out but this album is pure candy-coated fluff. The songwriting is horrible, songs like Come On Over (All I Want Is You), Genie In a Bottle, What A Girl Wants, When You Put Your Hands On Me, and I Turn To You, these songs never make you want to come back for me. Only three tracks prove X-tina can belt, Blessed, Reflection, and So Emotional. This album didn't showcase what this girl could really do, it's disposal pop and I am so glad they don't make this kind of music anymore.

I love this artist, this girl is a tremendous hit!!! and this is her real first album; i like the dancing tracks like GENNIE IN A BOTTLE, COME ON OVER (ALL I WANT IS YOU), SO EMOTIONAL and LOVE FOR ALL SEASONS;It has the great ballads REFLECTION (from Disney's Mulan), I TURN TO YOU, OBVIOUS and WHAT A GIRL WANTS; If you have MI REFLEJO, you can hear some of this songs in their Spanish versions, but in the case of WHAT A GIRL WANTS the rhythm is different if you compare the MI REFLEJO'S version UNA MUJER (but the song is the same). One of the greatest female voices of the 21th Century!!!

This is a very strong debut from Christina. Her voice is very powerful and can seem very strong one moment and shift into very soft and tender the next. She has vocal abilities that are very rare and she shows them well on hits such as Genie in a Bottle, What a Girl Wants, I Turn to You and Come on Over. A very strong album.

Xtina, has something Britney will never have (Talent)

Track 2: What A Girl Wants 9/10 the second number 1 hit of the album, and one of my all time favs

Track 3: I Turn To You 4/10 the first top 5 song from the album, but this is my least favorite song

Track 4: So Emotional 10/10 this is one of the best songs on the album i love this r&b flavored track

Track 5: Come On Over Baby 7/10 the third number 1 hit of the album it's also a cool dance song

Track 6: Relflection 8/10 i like the movie version better, but Xtina's voice is top notch

Track 7: Love For All Seasons 9/10 another one of my favs this is a nice song

Track 8: Somebodys Somebodys 5/10 it's okay could have been better

Track 9: When You Put Your Hands On Me 3/10 also one of my least favorites

When I first heard her voice, I was stunned. She shouldnt be compared to the talent-less Brittney Spears, Christina's voice is pure soul and r&b.
This album is one of my favorites. The best songs, in my opinion,had an R&B flavor b/c that ultimately does her voice the most justice.
So Emotional 10/10, Somebody's Somebody 9/10, Genie In a Bottle 7/10, Obvious 9/10, When you put your hands on me 9/10 and Reflectino 7/10 to me are the best tracks. Great buy!

i absolutly loved christina's debut cd, every song on it was good and hearing her sing in spanish on this album was so beautiful. Unfortuntly after this in my opinon christina has went downhill, i absolutly did not like her stripped album, she completly lost her passion in music, stripped was all about sex and complaining about men treating women like objects, well christina if you were smart enough you would know that you don't need to dress and act like a skank in your dirty video to be beautiful as you say in your song, it just completely gives young girls a bad message.

her back to basics album was a slight step forward but still i didn't find anything that grabbed me in that cd like most mainstream music these days, christina please show your fans the passion that you had in your music, most young female singers have seriously lost that part in music in my opinon.

Mi Reflejo rocks. I am a Spanish student and I listen to music en español all the time. I love this album. Despite the fact that Christina does not know the language, she has managed to record an album that sounds as if she does. Way to go,Christina. This is a great album! I particularly like Ven Conmigo and Me Acuerdo de Ti.

Christina really stepped it up from her debut album by making a Spanish album and connecting with her latin roots. Very aesthetic tracks
1. Genio Atrapado (Trapped Genie): Basically, it's Genie In A Bottle with different lyrics. The lyrics from this version of the song are better than the English version.
2. Falsas Esperanzas (False Hopes): Very sexy salsa song. Christina talks about how she doesn't want the man to give her false expectations on love.
3. El Beso Del Final (The Final Kiss): It's an okay song.
4. Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti (But I Remember You): Very lovely ballad.
She talks about how everything in her life is going well until she remembers an old love and how her world comes crumbling down because of it.
5. Ven Conmigo (Solamente Tu) [Come Over Here (Only You)] - The album version of Come On Over (All I Want Is You).
6. Si No Te Hubiera Conocido (If I Hadn't Met You): Another very lovely ballad. She makes a duet with Luis Fonsi and both of them have chemistry in this song.
7. Contigo En La Distancia (With You In The Distance): My favorite ballad! The lyrics are very aesthetic and her vocals are at its best
8. Cuando No Es Contigo (When I'm Not With You): It's an interesting song. The lyrics are sad, but the song is very upbeat. It's still a pretty good song.
9. Por Siempre Tu (Forever You): I Turn To You with different lyrics.
10. Una Mujer (A Woman): What A Girl Wants with better lyrics.
11. Mi Reflejo (My Reflection): Reflection with better lyrics
Overall, the album has more aesthetic lyrics than Christina's debut album and songs are amazing.

Christina Aguilera's Mi Reflejo is Christina's debut as a Spanish singer, and being a big Christina fan I was super excited when this CD was released, and I instantly brought it. I was not disappointed! Christina sings each song beautifully, and it even sounds like she even knows Spanish fluently. Most of the songs on this CD are ballads, and it includes Spanish re-makes of: "Genie in a Bottle", "Come On Over", "I Turn To You", "What A Girl Wants", and "Refections". This CD is enhanced and includes 2 music videos. This is one Christina's greatest achievements, and deserves all the good reviews it can get.

Una Christina puramente latinisima y volviendo a sus mas puras raices latinas... no lo pudo haber hecho mejor; una exquisita pronunciacion del idioma (y eso que no sabe hablar español), baladas tan preciosas como SI NO TE HUBIERA CONOCIDO, POR SIEMPRE TU, PERO ME ACUERDO DE TI, melodias tan movidas como GENIO ATRAPADO, UNA MUJER, VEN CONMIGO, ritmos latinos como FALSAS ESPERANZAS, CUANDO NO ES CONTIGO y para rematar al oyente una version tan angelical de MI REFLEJO, y tenemos uno de los mejores y mas deliciosos discos en español... SIMPLEMENTE INOLVIDABLE.

i thought i was ordering the movie but didn't realize that this was in fact an audio cd. the seller was very understanding and refunded my money immediately. thanks.

Out of the context of the film, the songs aren't quite as cool, but still some good solid hiphop and a good rendition of "Happy Day." If you haven't seen the documentary, I highly recommend that -- it gets 5 stars.

I have seen David LaChappelle's documentary film: 'RIZE' and was completely blown away by its presentation, artistic sensitivity, its exploration of body & soul and the marriage of both in rhythmic splendor; and too, in the surprising exposition of INTELLECT as expressed by its film dancers & characters, which bears out my premise that intellect is the 'diamond in the rough,' whereas intelligence is simply and affordably acquired. The people therein will serve as an inspiration to their generation and those to come, with their spiritual maturity, intellect, artistry, and 'rize' above environmental gravity. I do not know them personally, and it does take much to gain my respect, but I will say outrightly: I am proud of them! The very essence of survival, wisdom, battle fatigue, despair, death, and its rise over these crippling effects, are the fodder of which any aspiring writer or preacher could take for their next book or sermon. My respect goes out to them all. God bless them one and all.

At the beginning, I was perplexed and assumed they were on drugs or belong in a mental hospital. However, at the near end of the movie, it was based on their belief and completely respect that. An interesting movie, if you are openminded.

If you like clownin u'll like the soundtrack... and if u liked the movie you'd like the soundtrack... cept there are some songs that dont belong wit the clownin theme but it is the movie soundtrack.. those songs bring the cd down as a whole but its all good...

I am a big Christina Aguilera fan. As much as I love her though, I must say that this Christmas CD is way overdone. This is not what Christmas music is supposed to be, with all the shouting and melisma. Christmas music should be calming and soothing. This is not.

Christina's light comes shining through right from the first few bars. If you're thinking about getting this, you KNOW you LOVE her and you know she LOVES you and you also know she's an angel from heaven in a little human body so who better to liven up your Christmastime? She's not gonna bore you with flat old arrangements off the shelf. No! The songs and charts are well-chosen and, as always, the ultimate style-perfectionist with the dynamic pipes that is Christina hits the center of the target on every cut. What else would you expect from our girl? It will last you a lifetime of very cool Decembers! Get it.

Christina Aguilera is probably one of the best singers ever.When I heard that she made a Christmas album,I was skeptical about buying it after I saw all of the bad reviews.Now,I think it is one of the best Christmas albums.Out of the whole album,there are 4 songs that are annoying,but the most is Xtina's Xmas.Here are the songs I would recommend:

The cd is obviously not real. I used to own the exact same cd and it was completely different. The cover was printed on a cheap printer. DON'T GET SUCKERED LIKE I DID!

To anyone out there who bashed her singing talents on this cd all I have to is, Are you kidding me????. As far as I'm concerned, she has the best singing voice of ANY female recording artist out there,period. She'll still be putting out great music while Britney Spears keeps on getting the bad press.This cd is excellent!!!.

but sounding more like "I can do better (worse) than Mariah Carey". Like no old classic Christmas song (that I enjoy thouroughly) goes to extremes like this. On the bright side however, my hometown's Christmas station, I would somtimes hear "This Christmas" which sounds like the most decent sounding one (cause there is no harsh screeching).

I wish these now-a-day pop stars who sing Christmas songs sing it with their heart, as opposed to just doing it for just the money. Christmas is a time for giving and celebrating Jesus's birth, not showing off.

I bought this cd because of a recommendation and could not listen to it or hear the words for all the screechy "singing". Felt a headache coming............

This CD is filled with Christina's trademark vocal power. However, somtimes she overdoes it a bit and needs to hold back. Yet the beauty of her voice shines on this disc. Her vocal acrobatics notwithstanding, she is one of the best voices in music today.

I bought this in a haze of holiday optimism, having heard Ms. Aguilera knock my socks off dueting with Tony Bennett on a television tribute show. There is no denying that the girl can sing. Unfortunately, what she sings here is banal at best, and downright irritating at worst--lots of gratuitous squealing. It's a real shame to see a talent like hers drowned by the tide of pop mediocrity. I reluctantly gave this two stars rather than one in recognition of my age. Maybe I just don't get it. Then again, maybe it's just not there for me to get.

Taken the right way, this brash, over-the-top remake is actually a minor masterpiece. It perfectly embodies the decadence of the film, Moulin Rouge, for which it was made. With tongue just a bit in cheek, it takes what was basically a pretty base and silly 70s song and pumps it up to the Nth degree; a good time is had by all. With its forceful production and female vocal pyrotechnics (the sheer power with which they pronounce nonsense lines like "mocha choka la ta ta ta" is breathtaking), we have a pretty damn fine guilty pleasure here.

Sometimes, when reworked versions, and covers seem to come along in music, they really always don't seem to fit the bill very well. For Lady Marmalade by LaBelle, it was and still is absolutely divine and soulful. Unfortunately, the version from Moulin' Rouge with Nicole Kidman, isn't one to live up to expectations. The collaboration of Pink, Lil' Kim, Christina Aguillera, and Mya, sounds more like a divafest of knowing who is the better diva. The song also adds a rap that Lil' Kim conjured that really wasn't part of the version LaBelle made that didn't even add spice to it. Instead, it just sinks the track to even lower heights. All in all, I really didn't find this version exciting and worth listening to, time after time. It really doesn't have the longevity of the original one from the 70's, and it never will.

This song is sexy, sassy and funky.....and most of all a cool party song, which conjures up the good mood. The Thunderpuss Mixes are far superior to the original.

The Radio Edit, is a mellow, funky, Latin mixture with a flow of cute beats. Really sexy at that!

Thunderpuss Radio Mix. This is a shorter version of the Thunderpuss club mix.

Thunderpuss Club Mix. This is a House esque-BT/Victor Calderone remix, with sharp disco beats and a menacing but cool scream/yell as a intro for the song, it also continuously slows down and re-builds up, when X-Tina's voice breaks its way through every now and then, accompanied by the other performers being- Pink, Mya, Lil' Kim and Missy Elliot. Excellent!.

Thunderpuss Mixshow. This mix has the same dance formula, more likely with allot of subjective enhancements, voices have been reduced and altered in other parts, while Missy Elliot isn't left out until the end of the song.

It doesn't have a big variety of remixes, but rather its a average and substantial variety of mixes. Overall, if you're a fan of dance music, you cannot say you like to party without havin' this song!!!.

Now this song was really cool originally but like so many thing the cover has improved it greatly. CHRISTINA AGUILERA is by far my favrite singer and the best out there....then we got LIL' KIM my favrite rapper. add in MYA AND P!NK who can belt a tune with the best of them and I also am a huge fan of you know you got a great song. Who ever put this song together new what they were doing. Then the even go in order of how I like them like a countdown..In at #4 is Mya, then P!nk at 3, kim comes in at @ and My girl xtina is #1.

What can I say??This remake floored me.While Mya and Missy could've easily been left off(Mya can't sing, and Miss is cool but she doesn't really contribute a worthy amount to the song), this remake is incredible.The production is phenomenal, this is one of the best dance songs I've heard in recent memory.I can honestly say that this did the older vesion much justice,Christina makes the song, and Pink adds harmony and edges things up.It's an incredible remake that does not get old quickly either(I still love it)!!
