Just listen to and digest the words and feelings they evoke. Darren Hayes is truly a master and deserves immense praise for this and the rest of his work.

What can I say? This album is very impressive, and has some really incredible songs.

I'm not sure about his transition though, I'm not entirely sure that I 'buy' his new Scissor Sisters persona... I think that he has tried to re-invent himself, which musically, completely worked, although in some ways I think that it came at a price.

It's not what you would call a romantic CD, in the past he has released lots of love songs (Truly, I Knew I Loved You, Insatiable, I Miss You), and he has really let all that go on this album, it's so much more upbeat, and instead of the topic being love, it's life in general.

After I repeatedly played the songs that stand out (Verge, Future Holds a Lions Heart, Setting Sun, Conversation With God, How To Build a Time Machine), I found myself listening to the other songs, and after I gave them a chance, I adored them as much as the insanely catchy dance stuff. Especially 'I Just Want You To Love Me' Written entirely by Darren, 'Maybe' written about his friend who died of HIV, and 'The Only One'. I have no idea why, but 'The Only One' reminded me 'Don't Speak' by No Doubt, although they are really nothing alike, but there is a definite connection there.

I really like this CD, but as I say, even though I love Darren, I'm not sure about the rest of his re-invention. I don't find myself believing it after being a fan for 11 years ;-)

In a time where pop artists are creating disposable music, and releasing albums with one or two memorable songs on them, this album is a marvelous exception. This album speaks to the power of the independent artist, rather than one constrained by the shortsightedness of the recording industry. A double-album, a "concept album" (just like they used to do), and an album chock full of memorable songs.. "This Delicate Thing We've Made" could be one of the best collections of music ever compiled by one artist. Honestly, it's absolutely brilliant.

Words cannot express how perfectly inspiring this album is.

I am one of the individuals who was disappointed by a majority of Darren's early solo work. Still, I watched the new music videos as they appeared on his website. "Who Would Have Thought?" was haunting. "Words" was heartbreaking. And so I allowed myself to hope.

When at last I was able to buy the album, I listened to the entire thing at once. It was an incredible experience. By the time it was over, I was in tears. "He's back," is the only thing I could manage to think.

There are some songs I don't care for, but that doesn't matter, because the rest are perfect. He shares so much of himself in this album that it's breathtaking and heartwrenching and so emotional that it's almost impossible to believe. He addresses his childhood, his family, his lovelife, and so much more. I was also very happy to hear quite a few political statements in this album.

With Darren, it's the nuances that really make the song. When you can hear the emotion so clearly, you know it is a masterpiece. Happily, there is no shortage of this on this album.

For me, the best songs were "Who Would Have Thought?" "Casey," "Sing to Me," "Listen All You People," "Bombs Up in My Face," "The Future Holds a Lion's Heart," "Neverland," "Me Myself and (I)," and "Words."

"This Delicate Thing We've Made" is a Masterpiece! Brave, bold, daring, deep and lovely. Darren Hayes puts his heart and soul into this album and it shows. The combination of his brilliant lyrics, gorgeous voice and awesome melodies - WOW!! I was speechless after listening to this album for the first time. Darren takes the listener on an emotional journey and shares so much of himself in the process - I can't even begin to describe how this album made me feel. All I know is that I can't get enough of it. This is by far my favorite album!
I haven't seen it mentioned much in the reviews, but one song that I love to listen to is "Listen All You People". It always gets my spirits soaring and my feet moving. And of course there is "Casey", "Words", "Only One", "Sing to Me", "Tuning of Violins", "Verge", "Maybe", "Me, Myself, and (I)", "Who Would've Thought" . . . . . There isn't a track on this album that I don't love. I would have paid much more for this work of art.
I agree with the other reviewers that say listen to it more than once. The more I listen to this album, the more I understand and love it. I've listened to it just about every day since getting it in the mail last August. There is more here than just great lyrics and awesome beats.
I also recommend keeping the lyrics handy - just reading them is a treat.

This is a wonderful cd, one of my daughter's favorites. Warning: This cd cannot be downloaded to your mp3 collection.

All I want to do is put this music on my iPod. The copy protection is a bit too stringent. I've had to copy their software onto my computer and I still don't know if I can get this into iTunes. I think Darren Hays is very talented but I'll never buy a CD of his again.

Darren took a bold step away from the sugar-pop sound of his previous album, to create this new album of awesome music and lyrical brilliance. So many of the songs have such pretty lyrics and the each song sounds different from each other. Oh and his awesome voice is nice and clear in all of them. Highly recommended.

Amazing solo follow-up album. Darren's solo work is a bit more edgy, and electronic sounding. With his melodys and his unmistakable voice he is an amazing talent in ever regard.

Spin is the debut solo album for Darren Hayes, the former lead singer of Savage Garden.

Lead-off single "Insatiable" is a ballad that uses strings and has a hint of a Latin feel. It's a good song, although its main flaw is an overly-long ending. "Crush (1980 Me)" is the standout track on the album; it's the most uptempo song on Spin, and is heavily influenced by the 1980's for both the lyrics and the music. "Crush (1980 Me)" is easily my favorite song on the whole album. Most of the other songs are midtempo or ballads.

My favorite songs on the CD are: "Strange Relationship," "Insatiable," "I Miss You," "Crush (1980 Me)," and "Spin."

This is an enhanced CD. The enhanced portion includes a link to a multimedia page, which had streaming audio and lyrics for the album. At one point, there were three songs on the site that weren't available on the album: "Where You Want to Be," "When You Say You Love Me," and "Lift Me Up [Demo]."

Overall, there are some good songs on Spin, but Darren focused too heavily on ballads. Also, a number of the songs had drawn-out endings. If there were more a sonic variety to the album, and if the endings of a lot of the songs had been shortened, I would have liked this CD a lot better.

If you're a fan of Savage Garden, then you should pick this up. Darren Hayes's voice is so sexy and the songs on the album are the best.

I enjoyed the cd, it is a tad bit different from what he did with Savage Garden. But still enjoyable listen for the most part. There were only 4 songs that i wasn't really feeling throughout the CD. But everything was solid. He has always been a great songwriter and you see that on different songs like Strange Relationship, Insatiable, I Miss You and Dirty. Which is kind of weird, he's like a stalker after someone that he really likes and breaks it down in detail. Its totally different. Also enjoyed Crush (1980 Me) , Good Enough and Like It Or Not.

I know this was his first solo effort and even i'm an Savage Garden fan. This is a step in the right direction for Darren Hayes and i'm sure a sign of better things to come for him. Purchasing i would check out some songs to it first and see whether this one appeals to you or not. If not you should check his 2nd one "Tension & The Spark" a standout cd that hits on the all right notes..nuff said.

I regret myself why I didn't chase the post-Savage-Garden. This album includes the eazy cozy songs by the most powerful composers all over the world such as Walter Afanasieff (Mariah Carey) and Rick Nowels (Belinda Carlisle) that I've ever been thinking.

Good Enough is good enough to be the best song of this album against its modest tune (and please tell me What You Like about the best song).

I am a fan of Savage Garden, The Eurythmics, and George Michael - all of them did a great job with and without Pavarotti....

And the man who sang O SOLE MIO - Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden)... has the most beautiful- angelic- sultry and great voices I have ever heard - and to do it in Neapoliaton Italian (dialect) and in my opinion the best duet of ALL of them featured!!!!!

As always, Maestro Pavarotti's Modena concerts are highly entertaining and uplifting.
All artists sang two songs during the concert (one on their own and another with Maestro Pavarotti), but unfortunately not all of the songs are featured on this video. Another shortcoming is that there are no interviews or any extra footage.

It is funny to hear Pavarotti sing a pop tune as it is equally funny to see a pop singer with virtually no voice doing "O Sole Mio", but if it is all in good spirit and for charity, then it is enjoyable.

If you are intersted in European music scene or simply love Pavarotti, this tape will be a great treat for you.

Bravo showed this concert on New Years 2002 and it blew my mind. It is certainly the best of the War Child concerts, which started in 1996 as Pavarotti's effort to help the children of war-torn countries.
Like in the previous concerts, Pavarotti appears with international pop stars in the open-air piazza of his home town, Modena, Italy. (How do I get tickets for that?)
If you haven't heard any of these concerts, also available on CDs, you will be surprised how well Pavarotti's voice--a voice that makes the gods swoon--blends with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, George Michael, Tracy Chapman, and the Eurythmics. Previous concerts included B.B. King, Elton John, Ricky Martin, and Liza Minelli. Sometimes he sings along in English, sometimes in Italian counterpoint. The effect is stupdendous! These concerts display all the beauty of this great operatic voice while at the same time honoring the art of our greatest pop artists.
What makes this video the best is the children's chorus, the combined Ars Canto of Parmi, Italy, and the Children's Choir of Cambodia and Tibet. The video starts with this chorus joining Pavarotti and the totally sexy Enrique Iglesias in a rousing "Cielito Lindo."
Pavarotti really knows entertainment and in this one he pulls out all the stops! Best of all, part of the proceeds of this tape goes to benefit the children of Cambodia and Tibet. Pavarotti's efforts to help War Child have already built music centers for children in Kosovo, Liberia, and Guatemala. What great leadership!
He says on one of his jackets: "All too often, children are betrayed by the inhuman actions of adults, and become the innocent victims of war and cruelty. War Child is an energetic, and practical organization offering vital hope, working tirelessly for children to regain their rightful place in the world."

I am a HUGE Savage Garden fan so that was the main reason to buy this album. And I have to say Darren's voice is AWESOME in "O Sole Mio", the first time I listened to it it made me cry. So I bought the cd. I was glad to see that there are very enjoyable songs in the album not only the SG tracks. I loved Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" performance, now I am a Tracy fan too. You'll enjoy the performances by Aqua, Enrique Iglesias and Eurhytmics and of course the queen Tracy Chapman " ("Telling Stories" is superb!). I even discovered some new artists I had never heard of and I liked them. You won't be disappointed by this album.

This collection of music has given me great pleasure. Aqua's Around the World is a joy. Hearing the Eurythmics and Pavarotti perform together is fun and beautiful. I also especially liked Enrique Iglesias's Be with you. 20 tracks and 77 minutes of great music I will listen to again and again. And all for a good cause.

I just recently order this and it's great! Darren Hayes is a brilliant artist, I love all the songs and the cd is enhanced so i get to see a really cool video too! It's wonderful, and I recommend it to everybody!

Apparently there is a full version of this album. This version has four tracks of the
same song with different re mixes.
Just beware of that fact otherwise its fine.

the single - as you know if you own the album it's from - is an excellent song, as well as being a strong chose as a single. the b-side featured here, however, is the real star (since the a-side is available elsewhere). 'fallen angel' is a propulsive and aggressive electronic tragic which is stronger than even about 3/4s of the album tracks from 'this precious thing we've made.' this fact alone makes the single a must have for any darren fan.
