Awesome collection of songs I had forgotten about. What great memories this collection brings to me after all these years. If you are looking for a trip down memory lane, this is the CD to get.Great musical talent.It's a shame groups don't make music like this anymore.

Well in beginning i bought this album for the songs: Cover Of The Rolling Stone & When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman. But as soon i popped in this disc i just fell in love with whole thing. the and more to title of the album impiles the fact that there are few songs tacked on for your listening pleasure, i must say my favorite tracks are: I Could'nt Believe, A Little Bit More. Sexy Eyes & Sharing The Night Together( Are Definitely Disco Influnced) but still likeable. Radio should've may the top ten along with Cover Of The Rolling Stone, Years From Now. Brings tears almost, it's tender ballad. This album is one that you'll want to dance to because there are slow and fast tunes. when i listening to this album i think of palm trees and the sun.

Not what I was hoping for. This album does not include several of his best songs. Definitely not his "greatest hits".

Dr. Hook always brings back memories of my childhood. Their music is real the lyrics tell a story and it is good music to listen to after a hard days of work in your own little space. Great stuff !!!!

I was thrilled to find this recording. I had been looking for one particular song by Dr. Hook for years and didn't know the name of it. I was so greatly surprised to find it on this albumn. It is Love Me A Little Bit More. It is a very special song to me and am thrilled to have it. I would recomend this albumn to any one that loves Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.

Dr Hook (and the Medicine Show) were quite diverse in their time, the masters of rock satire, accomplished dance-pop and beautiful ballads as well as rude and suggestive ditties. Although not comprehensive, this album with its 20 tracks offers a wide spectrum of the novelty and serious songs of Dr Hook. There are soft rock numbers like All The Time In The World and catchy pop numbers like When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman (A Number One hit in the UK in 1979) and Sexy Eyes. Plus the witty rock classics like the singalong Cover Of The Rolling Stone, The Millionaire and the rhythmic Girls Can Get It, and their biggest hot of all, the weepy Sylvia's Mother, a masterly blend of sorrow and humor. Other tuneful ballads include A Couple More Years, Years From Now and their cover of Sam Cooke's Only Sixteen. The slower numbers are balanced by rhythmic uptempo songs like You Make My Pants Wanna Get Up and Dance and the huge hit Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk. Just for the record, the band did eventually make the cover of that magazine in March 1973. For the devoted fans, I recommend the 2-disc set Collection or Hits and History with its bonus DVD. Greatest Hooks is fine as an introduction to this band that made people laugh, dance and listen with their million-selling pop, country, dance and rock tunes.

This is one of the few CD Greatest Hits complilations for a popular group which allows all of the really big hits and the later ones from another record label to be placed on one disc. I was very impressed Capitol included the Casablanca Record singles, "Girls Can Get It", and "Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk." Way to go Capitol Records, you get my sincere gratitude for doing this one right!

This cd has a slightly different collection of greatest hits than the other cd, but every bit as enjoyable...Sound quality seems to be a bit better, too. Worth every penny.

I was only familiar with the later Dr. Hook output for the longest while and never considered myself a fan. I started watching this hilarious public access show here in New York called Ms. Divine's Tee Hee Heure. During the opening credits I kept hearing these insane tunes that caught my ear. Each time I waited to find out who the artist was, it turned out to be Dr. Hook. I soon started tracking down as much of their early stuff that I could find. I was thrilled to learn that 3 albums from the old days were being compiled together in one release. Outstanding, naughty fun that has aged suprisiingly well.

I bought this collection after hearing an old song by Dr. Hook on the radio. I had a thirst for some more. The collection does cover just about every song that I can remember the bad doing that was popular in the late 70s and early 80s. I had most of the bands records and can now enjoy the songs on CD. This was a great trip through old music. Well, worth the cost. It brought back old times and memories with great laughs.

This collection is everything i wanted, i grew up hearing songs my mum & dad would play, they still have Dr.Hook on vinyl(Pleasure& Pain)and many more Dr. Hook albums .
I bought it as a gift for them, now i have it more than them LOL so i have to get my own copy, disk 1 has all the tracks i love disk 2 is a new world of songs for me ,for sure a must buy, if you want to back track your musical library with the greatest hits, make sure to put Collection by Dr.Hook high up on your list.

As with all of Dr Hook's early output, this album of magical content from one of Rock's all time zainy bands is priceless and timeless. The other reviewers seem to have covered it, so I'll just encorage you to buy it, then come visit the other Hook fans and original members of the band, in the Official Dr Hook online Fanclub and community. As an "old" Dr. Hook fan one must make a distinction between the first three albums by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show with their 4th transition album Bankrupt before they moved to pop. The first two albums, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and Sloopy Seconds are currently in print as is Bankrupt as an import....isn't it time for number 3...Belly Up. The Silverstein compositions and the amazing presentations by the group are just too good!!! Can Amazon create a "albums/cd" request area where fans can request and vote for those not on cd albums they would like to see reissued?

After paying good money for this great collection where is the 2 most wonderful love songs ever done by Dr. Hook? Loveline and Lady Sundown!

While their cover of Only Sixteen was all over the radio, I wonder how many folks bought the LP after hearing that song, and discovered this stoner classic? This is music to listen to with a lot of friends, with plenty of various libations on hand. A true party album.

As usual, the album contains great Shel Silverstein penned classics. Shel was at the top his game, and Dr. Hook delivers the songs with skillful wit. Interestingly enough, Dr. Hook as a band was bankrupt, and this album very well could have been their last. The success of Only Sixteen saved them, but alas, instead of more songs like The Millionaire and I Got Stoned, they went.... DISCO!!!! Bankrupt turned out to be the last, great Dr. Hook album. And what a great one it is!

I love this album. I saw the 'Hook' in 1974 on The Old Grey Whistle Test doing it and was blown away - I went out and bought it the following day. The Millionairre is excellent, I got stoned...... just me at the time. I've just ordered on CD from this site - delivery in April - I can't wait. I've worn out 6 copies on 33 over the past 30 years. The only other album I've done that with is Neil Young Harvest

some very funny moments on this CD. i used to listen to the LP many years ago , wore it out completely. WUPS makes me smile everytime i hear it. this was the bands last chance to make it big. Only Sixteen was the hit that made them superstars. A very hard to find CD, get it while you still can.

This album holds so many memories of my teenage years as I used to listen to this when going to Speedway with my brother. I have been searching for this to add to my collection of CD's and this is the first place I have been able to find it. As for the songs there isn't a bad one amonst them "Levitate" truly does lift me high, "Only Sixteen" reminds me of when I was ONLY SIXTEEN and "Millionaire" well listening to it will make us all feel like MILLIONAIRE'S

If you are a fan of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, then this should be in your collection.

I grew up listening to this music...I thought it was funny then and still funny now.

This is not the same Dr. Hook that, after dropping "and the Medicine Show" from their name, did the biggest musical switcheroo since the Doobie Brothers acquired Michael McDonald. If you're lookin' for their disco-fied hits "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman" and "Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk" (even those titles make me cringe), then click elsewhere. All ten tracks of trash on "Revisited" come from the demented pen of Shel Silverstein, who, besides composing left-of-center hit songs ("A Boy Named Sue", "The Unicorn", "Tequila Sheila"), also contributed article and cartoons for Playboy AND wrote classic children's books. The tune titles here tell the tawdry tale: "Acapulco Goldie", "Roland the Roadie and Gertrude the Groupie", "Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball" and more demented debauchery. Two numbers are even fondly remembered bona fide hits---the melancholy "Sylvia's Mother" and that odorous ode to fame n' fortune, "Cover of the Rolling Stone" (which actually DID get their ugly mugs on that rag). Sleazy songs, greasy instrumentation, and party-hearty vocals make this early greatest "hits" sound like Dr. Hook had just as much fun making it as I did listening to it. "Revisited" really oughta come with one of those little warning stickers found on other substances that are supposedly bad for you: CAUTION-Listening to this disc is infectious and may be hazardous to your health! RATING: FIVE YUKS

This is Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show's 1st compilation, "Revisited". It was originally titled "The Best Of" with a different cover. The tracks were taken from their first three albums which were produced between 1971 and 1973. It features the hit singles "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover Of Rolling Stone", "Carry Me, Carrie", "Roland The Roadie And Gertrude The Groupie" as well as many album tracks. This appeals to the country and rock audiences...The songs were written by the late Shel Silverstein.

For some of you who have written reviews below, Belly Up was THE best Dr Hook album (IMHO). It wasn't quite as raw as Sloppy Seconds but they hadn't sold out and gone commercial. ALSO - the original LP came with a 45 of Dennis and Ray interviewing each other - it was unbelievably funny.

The best songs on the album were Roland the Roadie, The Wonderful Soupstone and The Ballad of... The first was just fun, the latter two probably having the best group harmonies that the guys ever recorded. Not near as "snivelin'" as some of the other songs on the other albums (Kiss it away, Carry me Carrie, etc). Right up there with The Ballad of Lucy Jordan, one of my all-time favorites.

If they ever release Belly Up, buy it!!!!! You won't be sorry.

I bought this only knowing "...Rolling Stone" but loved everything on it (well, almost). It launched a serious Dr. Hook interest for me. A great compilation.

I love everything about this album. It reminds me of when I was a kid. My father lived Dr. Hook. For me, growing up in a house where Dr. Hook records were always spinning, it's so much fun to go back and listen to them again as an adult.

This album doesn't disappoint. My favorites include Cover of the Rolling Stone, Freakin' at the Freakers' Ball, and If I'd Only Come and Gone.

Fans of Shel Silverstein's adult poetry will love Dr. Hook. Afterall, he is the lyrical genius behind this hard-partying freaks.

I have always been a huge fan of Dr Hook & The Medicine Show: ever since "Sylvia's Mother" first came out, followed by "Cover Of The Rolling Stone". They had me for life after I enjoyed the experience of seeing them live at a private party for record company executives, record promoters, radio station owners and D.J.'s in Houston around 1977 (still not sure how I got invited, but it was a great show.)

"Sloppy Seconds" was never one of their best known albums, and I guess anybody would call it irreverant at best: not of religion or God, just of society. I had the original L.P., which I lost and a cassette (also lost), and was really missing the unusual songs on this truly unique album (the lyrics of many of which were written by Shel Silverstein in an earlier life: later of Playboy, Esquire and New Yorker cartoon fame and most recently as a best-selling author of children's books.) Finding a top-quality CD of this hard-to-find album was a really pleasant surprise, and listening to these 30 year old classics in new-age clarity has become a series of enjoyable continuing trips down memory lane.

I highly recommend the album and the seller.

As far as music being an art form, this album has the whole package, cool cover, incredible sound, awesome lyrics, fabulous playing, vocals second to none! Arguably a classic among classics!!! It requires full attention and should be required listening for high school english, music and art classes...

In my opinion this is their best album, every song is worth a good close listen. I wore out my first 8 track copy of this, bought it again on 8 track over the years I also bought it on vinyl, cassette and on CD; don't regret a single purchase.
I still play it fairly often and enjoy it each time I hear it.

People may not think by looking at the band or the cover that this band could convey this music with such heart (although, some of it is just for fun), but their voices and music combined with the ever enduring poetic words of Shel Silverstein goes beyond the time or the look.
