Dwele

This CD is great. The tracks blend/melt into eachother like sirup over pancakes. So sad that DWELE doesn't receive the credit he deserves. Get this CD and DWELE's first CD "Subject" (which by the way can be obtained for a great price at amazon). Both are definately platinum material. Soothing and relaxing. Best song imho: "Open Your Eyes" (reminds me of the good old days).

Dwele has once again produced an outstanding mosaic of his musical talent. When I listen to some of his tracks, I deeply feel, I am hearing another Marvin Gaye. GOD Bless Dwele and oontinued much success in the future.

It's nice to see young talent coming up with good pure music/lyrics. (i.e. John Legend) Hopefully this will start trend in which you actually have to have talent to release music.

Being a native Detroiter it really pleases me to be able to purchase such quality music from an extremely underrated artists rom my hometown. This album is outstanding, with a perfect blend of neo soul and r&b, with loads of personality sprinkled on top. I highly recommend anyone who loves real music to get this cd!

This man has music for your soul, every album he's made, is wonderful, if your into music for the soul, then I suggest you treat yourself to any of his albums!!!!!!

the debut from Dwele starts off on a pretty good note. By track 3 though is where it really begins to kick in and things are taken up a notch.

Subject had to be one of the cds in 2003 for folks to watch and listen for. It covers various topics in relationships and love and is done in a way. You can't help but fall for. It gets a bit rocky towars the end track 13 (which is pretty much an interlude). But concludes nicely and leaves things open for what will probably be an even better sophomore effort.

This Cd was just okay with me. Not my style exactly. You may enjoy it

This CD is for mature taste. If you are a fan of the immature junk on the radio today, this is not for you. This is an instance classic and will be in my rotation indefinately.

I got this cd after Some Kinda and it is just poor. This album can do with remixing, reproduction on his part, to make it good, as he has grown musically. This one is just weak but, their are one or two good traks

Dwele is very talented. He had a great debut, blessing us with his soothing voice (think of Marvin Gaye, Musiq Soulchild) over mostly midtempo tracks. The problem with "some kinda..." is definately the PRODUCTION. Dwele shouldn't do so much producing and concentrate on singing. Check out "Know Your Name" (produced by G-1), "I Think I Love You" (produced by Mike City) and "Keep On" (produced by the late, great Jay Dilla) which are the only stand-out tracks on this CD. With the exception of "Weekend Love" all of Dwele's production kinda sounds repetitive and boring. I've heard a few songs off of Dwele's new CD, and I think he moved it up a notch! But just imagine Dwele's soothing voice over midtempo beats by Raphael Saadiq, Kanye West or Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Now that would be some kinda... COOL!

EXTREMELY well done album! An instant neo-soul classic. I've played this CD so many times the CD scratched... so I bought it again as MP3's! Simply amazing music.

I feel that Some Kinda , is better than Subject. I love this unique fellow. I enjoy most of the songs, although I felt that it could have done without the talking interludes with the girl cursing hime out etc and using profanity. His sound is too smooth for this. And sometimes He can be more inventive with the lyrics but overall I love it and it is still in heavy rotation at intervals in my CD Players after years of it's original release.

Now Dwele is easily one of my favorite artists. Easily. But i honestly think this album was a dissapointment. I expect so much more from this amazing artist. This is not a bad album by any means. In all reality, this album is very close to four stars. If three and a half stars was an option, this album would fall under that category. With this album, i feel like Dwele maybe got a little laid back and jazzy. Dwele is better when he sticks to neo soul, but on this album he does almost to much jazz. I totally understand that those great laid back chill grooves are what Dwele is best at, but the problem with this album was that there were no bright spots. None of the songs really jumped out and caught your attention. I mean the baby maker with silky smooth production "Lay It Down" is a phenominal song, and a showcase of the type of songs that Dwele is great at. Its so relaxing u just drift off listening to it. And then the first single "I Think I Love U", is probably the most up beat/contempary R&B song on the album with its generic but still pleasing production. But other than those two songs, theres not a whole lot that stands out. Like i said earlier, Dwele is extremely talented, and one of my favorite artists, but i think on this album he went a little over board on the relaxed music, because every single artist needs at least one up beat song on his or hers album otherwise the album gets lost. But still the album is not a complete miss, if u liked his first album, you will probably find songs on this one enjoyable to. I heard to that part of the problem with this album was that Dwele was having issues with Virgin Records not giving him any creative control on this album. But anyways, not bad album by anymeans, i just expect the best when i am buying Dwele music!

I first heard Dwele on a Boney James track from the LP "Pure". After hearing it I decided to take a chance on buying "Some Kinda". It has been well worth the purchase including smooth mainstream grooves like "Weekend Love" and "I Think I Love U". "Holla", "Pimp's Dream", "Know Your Name", "My Lova", "Lay It Down" and "Old Lovas" are soothing, soulful album songs that make want to let down the top & windows on a summer day and go cruising down the freeway. This is Dwele's best effort and a will be considered somewhat of a summertime classic.
