Feeder

Feeder have consistently produced some excellent albums over the years, though their last effort "Pushing the Senses" was routine. Here we have some considerably beefed-up and less washy songs from the band, all of a very good standard, but unfortunately their efforts have been spoiled by bad engineering and mastering.
This seems all too common these days, are studio engineers suffering from bad hearing, do they hear things differently to us? Many parts of this album sounds so compressed and over-eq'd it is hard work to listen to, it hurts, the main parts of the music just sound so mushed up. There is some relief in the quiet passages which seem just right, overall this is slightly less of a problem on the better quality vinyl version of this disc but the sound is still obviously poor. The engineers who subject us to this piercing mush effect on OUR records need one of us ordinary listeners to go in and tell them what they're doing wrong before they put the albums out, and they would possibly benefit from a visit to their GP!

Feeder have always been one of my fave bands , and as an expat i wait with baited breath. Just bought this today in Japan , and i think i'm a little up and down . All of Grant and the gangs usual brilliance is here. Well thought out songs , great musicianship and diversity a plenty . However .....its a big however . Will it convert more to the cause ? I sadly doubt it . For long term fans like myself, and i am a huge fan , it continues a great tradition of albums .But for a newcomer it would be hard to see what the fuss is about . There's no real standout track as such ,or obvious "single" . That all said....i love it ....nice one guys , but maybe not enough to spend $30 on if you are looking for an introduction to a great British band .

First of all, I'm not a super major Feeder fan. I've only heard "Polythene" and "Yesterday Went Too Soon" and liked Yesterday better. That being said, "Echo Park" is the best of those three.

This album is solid from beginning to end. I had a hard time picking a favorite tune. In fact, it was one of the best albums I've heard since Embrace's "Out of Nothing." It's one of those just-push-play kind of albums. The content and form of each song is fitting: the rockers kick, and the ballads were true to themselves, not wimpy or contrived.

Check out: Satellite News, Piece by Piece, Turn, Seven Days..., and Under the Weather for a good sampling. Buy this and let your friends borrow it.

This is the most fantastic album i have ever heard. i don't think I truely appreciated music until I first heard Feeder! They really are amazing and this album completely showcases them. Every song is great in its own way and it's so difficult to chose a favourite because of this. There are 'happy' songs like Buck Rodgers and Seven Days in the Sun which make you want to leap around playing air guitar and more mellow ones like Turn and Oxygen that are great at making you reflect on life. if you don't listen to it you are really missing out!

A brilliant album from one of the best British rock (indie rock) bands. This album has everything a great album should have and more, it is truly a masterpiece. The song Buck Rogers was absolutely huge in the UK and really helped to promote and sell the album, fortunately that was the only single to be hugely overplayed. Every song is absolutely superb, especially We can't rewind and Turn, which in my opinion are two of the best Feeder songs. Anyone's music collection that doesn't contain this cd is incomplete. Feeder ROCK!! especially echo park!

I had a friendly feeling toward this music because I like rhythmical music.

I bought the Japanese edition of gEcho Parkh, This edition includes 4 extra tracks (gJust a dayh, gpurpleh, gheadsh, g21st century meltdownh but it does NOT include gSatellite Newsh)...

Prior to releasing three previous albums which, to be honest, have not done an awful lot for Feeder (despite being wicked cd's), this is finally the work which will guarantee them mainstream mtv success and sales with future records.
This is a wicked cd. I have found that there is a song on here to suit my every mood. Sure, there are elements of Coldplay here, but remember, Feeder were there first! 'Buck Rodgers' is one of the most infectious records I have ever heard. As soon as the bass line hits in it has you hooked. Generally, this is a very positive, reassuring cd. The lyrics of songs such as 'We Can't Rewind' and 'Seven Days in The Sun' are guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and of course, the chorus to Buck Rodgers - "I think we're gonna make it, I think we're gonna save it".
From a female perspective, it helps that Grant and Jon are drop dead gorgeous (buy it just for their pictures on the inlay cards), but this is a great reflection of Feeders past career peaking, demonstrating how their skills have matured over time to produce such a magnificent album. It truly is a piece to be proud of. There are no wicked guitar solos or notable rock'n'roll moments that are going to go down in history, but tak it on face value and don't compare their skills to other musicians and you will find a goldmine hidden within this cd.

This album is polished and sturdy. This is Grant's most well-crafted album to date, and I'm writing this 1 week prior to it being 2 albums later.

Also, to address reviewers' comments about this being mellow due to the drummer's suicide, I had the privilege of talking face-to-face with Grant in May of 2003 when they came to Detroit to a very small venue. I was allowed to sit through the sound check, which was like having my personal live Feeder concert! Very cool. After, Dean, a gent that fills in when they're live (or he did then) got Grant's attention for me, and we talked. I too thought that he kept the two rockers (Opaque and Bullet) for B-sides to keep the album mellow in tribute to Lee killing himself. He was actually taken aback by my assumption, and said with each album he simply wants a certain feel and flow, and that's what got him to the CIS sound, not Lee's suicide.

So take this album, add in the great B-sides that were on singles from this album, and you have a superb piece of work.

I absolutly love this album. It's one of those rare cd's ware I love every song. If I'm in a bd mood, all I have to do is put it on and I come right out of it.

This album is jam packed full of goodies. From the hard rocking "Come Back Around" or "Godzilla" to the melodic "Comfort in Sound" or "Moonshine", this album is a must have for anyone who likes a soft, singing voice and some occasional heavy tunes.

i couldn's believe how dire this band was when i tried them out. not a half decent melody nor an ounce of character anywhere in sight. this band constitutes all the problems of modern rock music rolled into one. apparently the singer hates the clash - it therefore follows that the band are neither capable of recognising greatness or coming anywhere close to producing it. a first class stinker from a stinker of a band.

I'm not the type of person who can easily sit down and listen to a CD entirely throughout...I've always been the type who likes maybe 3 songs, will listen to just those, and then switch CDs. But with Comfort in Sound, it's totally different. I play this album all the way through numerous times. Every song has a catchy melody. Some are melancholy, some are cheery, and each song has some of Grant Nicholas' emotions incorporated somehow (and that's not a bad thing at all). This is by far my favorite CD..I wish the people in the states would catch on to this amazing band as much as people in the UK have!! NOT JUST RECOMMENDED, IT'S A MUST-BUY!!!!

Well, this is the first album I've heard by Feeder. I heard some of the singles from a friend (Buck Rogers being one song comes to mind) and I didn't really care for them. But I heard Pilgrim Soul on Feeder's Myspace page and immediately decided to take a gamble and buy the album. What I discovered is that this is a gem that is completely overlooked by way too many rock fans. Anyone who appreciates ColdPlay, U2, Dredg, Paloalto/Goldenstate, Longview, etc. will definitely love this album. I've listened to it from start to finish countless times and it still hasn't lost its magestic touch. Trust me. Buy this album.

I don't see why this album should be "enhanced".

Moving on, this album is a cracker. A mix of both heavy and light. For those that love this album, I recommend the album just before it - Comfort in Sound.

Not a review....just pointing out that the reviewer who said that all good music comes from Britain.... well maybe you'd like to know that The Killers are actually from Las Vegas.

Nothing I say about this record will ever do it justice, and that's saying something cause God knows I always have a thing or two to say about everything. Let's just say that I can't wait to see Feeder live! After listening to this record non-stop for the past 2 months, I am addicted to this band and anything they do.

This is really not a surprise since I am always a huge fan of anything British, especially British music! They produce the best music hands down (come one! Duran Duran, The Killers, Oasis, Coldplay, The Cranberries, K's Choice, Snow Patrol, Keane, Pet Shop Boys, Queen, George Michael, Ronan Keating, Mark Owen, Daniel Bedingfield, Sting, Seal, Aqualung, David Grey, ... I know I am forgetting some!)

The tracks that literally take my breath away every single time I listen to them are Morning Life, Pain on Pain, Tender, Dove Grey Sand, and Frequency. Unbelievable harmonic melodies with great, touching lyrics to boot! No band or artist had quite this effect on me since Tori Amos' Winter back in 1991.

The shock of all of this is that this record isn't released in the US domestically. You have to buy it as IMPORT for triple its price or you can always buy it from Amazon.co.uk.

I don't care how you get it, just get it. You'll love it!

Before I dive into talk, I want to point out this albums' track listing - There's actually TWO CD's in the Limited Edition copy of this album. The Limited Edition (Deluxe), includes a DVD. The DVD has all the songs on the CD, plus some more BUT you can watch them all as music videos!

From "Tangerine" to "Save Us", this really does show changes in the band's sound. Feeder have always been with their unusual guitar riffs...and that's something admirable about Feeder.

From the time of this album's release, "Save Us" is the planned single to be released in the month of July.
