George Strait

George Strait is the way cowboys should be. I wish there were more cowboys... and people in general... like him. Yet again, his talents shine and his words reach into your very soul in a kind and loving way. Thanks, George!

What can I say? It's George Strait. I love this album. Play it a lot. Has some beautiful music on it.

I love this CD. All the songs are good. My favorites include the title track. I also am completely enthralled with House of Cash (duet with Patty Loveless) and House With No Doors. I play this CD all the time and it is clearly one of my all time favorites.

The real King George (Strait) arrived in perfect condition along with 2 of his pals (Kenny and The Statlers) Exile has not arrived. I could listen to GS all day.

Troubadour is a great ablum which showcases an abundance of quality country music on one cd. Unlike many of his "contemporaries", Strait sings REAL country music - not the pop/rock stuff that floods today's country radio. You can always depend on Strait to deliver meaningful songs that take you back to the days when country music was sung by cowboys - aka the pre-Garth Brooks days.

I love this album and recommend it to anyone who longs for the country music of years past. If you're a Strait fan - then you have to add this to your collection. If you like Alan Jackson, or even Trace Adkins, then you will enjoy the music of George Strait. My favorite song is "Troubadour" because at times, we all feel like "we're still trying to make a name" for ourselves.

Since I'm a huge and loyal George Strait fan I buy anything he does music or other stuff. This is a really nice Christmas CD to add to any ones music library if you like country music. Each song has the George Strait twist on it. If you like true country Christmas songs this CD is for you. There isn't any song the Cd that I can single out as my favorite because they all are outstanding just like George. The King of Country Music does it again.

George Strait is the King of country music, now he is the king of country Christmas. From his first two Christmas albums to this one, he has done a true country album with his first one, and he did classic albums with his second release and this cd with traditional Christmas songs. Any Strait fan will love these songs sung by their favorite artist and bring back memories of all of our Christmas' past and the excitement of those to come.

When I tried to load this CD to my Zune account it downloaded an old GS Christmas CD from 2003. But, when you play it from the CD drive it plays the 2008 songs. My wife downloaded the CD to her iPod, and it indicated there were two separate CD's on this one; the old 2003 songs and the new 2008 songs. Nice that iPod noticed two, but it is worthless to me and my Zune account since I purchased songs that I cannot listen to. Never has happened before.

But, the songs are great. So, if you are buying for your CD player I highly recommend it, but if you are buying and expecting to download to your Zune...do not buy it as a CD, download the MP3 songs directly.

This is an EXCELLENT Christmas CD. All of the songs are perfectly done with no frills...Just like you would expect GS to sing them. HOWEVER, it appears that this CD is EXCACTLY the same as the one released exclusively for Hallmark (you know, buy 3 cards and get this item for $5). Even the photos apparently were taken at the same time. GS is wearing the same outfit. I got my CD through the Hallmark promotion and it is entitled "Fresh Cut Christmas". So, the bottom line is BUYER BEWARE. If you got the Hallmark CD, don't bother getting this one. It is the SAME thing! BUT, if you didn't get it through Hallmark, get it now and enjoy Christmas music beautifully done.

How else could I rate the services I recieved: The item was recieved before the date estimated, and arrived in good condition.

all george straits good songs are on here along with some not so good ones my disk 2 cd had a mold mark on it and about 3 songs on it dont play right.

So some of the songs are truncated. I don't care! Country music is not a genre with a definite pattern in the composition like concerti and symphonies. It was difficult to get all those 50 hits on two discs, and I appreciate the effort.

When I'm riding down the road and listening to George Strait, I enjoy his own unique style with a hint of the rhythm that Johnny Cash used and a big dose of the melancholy that made us all love George Jones. Then I hear some novelty country Western tune from back in the 1980's, and I'm smiling again.

George Strait is the kind of male singer that makes a woman feel good. When we women listen to him, we can think about the men in our lives. His songs convey an appreciation and love for women. I don't know of anyone else who stirs up that much feeling. He's not self-absorbed, and his lyrics that he selects are all about men who loved women. Often things just didn't turn out right. The poignancy of this album and the vulerability of George Strait affect me.

I really enjoy listening to this cd, it has some great songs,but of course I love this artist anyway. The service from Amazon was also great and very speedy. The links in amazon were great as far as looking for prouducts and service.And I will continue to use Amazon for other purchases. Thank you Amazon

I love George Strait. He is the uncrowned king of country, and anybody who has listened to him and bought his records over the years know and love "King George." And if you listen to the opening vocals on songs like 'Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind,' you'll instantly know why.

While I have panned this release in some of my other George reviews (see 'Greatest Hits' where I complain about the really bad edits), I listened to this release and realized the edits aren't bad at all. Now yes, they ARE still edited, and that won't change, but if you're just avoiding this release because of the edits, they aren't that bad.

Disc one is where the classic George is. It features the new song 'I Hate Everything,' and the rest is the George from 1981-1992. The classic stuff starts with 'Fool Hearted Memory,' and ends with his role as Dusty in 'Pure Country' with the song 'I Cross My Heart,' which is the best song from the soundtrack.

Disc two features his most recent songs, including 'True,' 'You Can't Make A Heart Love Somebody,' 'Write This Down,' 'Check Yes Or No' and 'The Big One.' The edits here are, I think, worse than on disc one. But they aren't terrible, either.

Overall, this is highly recommended for a casual George fan. Not a bad set despite the edits.

I have all of George Strait's cds and this is a must have for any fan.

when I purchased George Strait's 50 Greatest Hits I had the option to get this one of 22 more hits. Great music. It's amazing how many great hits George has when you begin to count them.

Last Christmas I bought 22 More Hits for my daughter. She's been a fan of his for a very long time. She listens to the 22 More Hits almost every day as she drives. She loves it!

George Strait has a sincere, pure quality in his voice. I find some country singers a little too nasal, but George has a nice sound. He puts honest emotion into each song. Sometimes when all the songs are by one singer, they get boring, but he varies the style. This album has a pleasing mix.

I highly recommend it.

Great recording with plenty of variety and songs from this talented performer - Great Stuff!

A very talented singer, but why not chose some upbeat songs. My woman left me and I am heartbroken gets a little tiresome after 13 songs.

Its great to see George singing number 1 hits after number one hits and some of his most recent number one hits are on this cd. I really enjoyed this cd. It proved that George still has what it takes to be on top once again and there will be nobody who will ever come close to what George has accomplished in his 20+ year career. My favs on this CD are Give it Away, It Just Comes Natural, Texas Cookin, & How Bout Them Cowgirls. I'm not saying they are the only good songs on there, they are the songs I enjoy listening the most. They all are great.

I love George Strait, he is truly an icon in country music and there will never be another like him. I recommend on picking this cd up sometime. Pretty darn good songs to enjoy.

As this was my first George Strait purchase, it will certainly not be my last. The disc is recorded very well. One of the best recordings I have ever heard. With 15 tracks, there is plenty to listen to. My kind of woman is the best one on the album. Overall, this album is better than Troubadour.

This is a fantastic album. I thoroughly enjoyed every song on this record. I enjoyed it so much I bought the 50 greatest hits album which disapointed me a bit.

Overall this is a terrific album though and there are so many solid songs that you can enjoy over and over.

George Strait is probably one of the most consistent and dependable C&W singers. He doesn't go in for gimmicks, yet uses good production and arranging. This album is excellent, as usual.

The CD set that I ordered is great. It is in A-1 shape.

Although ten years old, this collection will give all the best of Strait's career from the beginning to the nineties. I am a new fan, so it was a good way for me to "catch up." His new album has already gone to number one so he still has it..

If you love all of George Strait's old and new songs then you will definately enjoy this set. You get a mix of everything and all of the songs are awesome!!

If you like Hank Jr. and Sr., Dwight Yoakam, etc you will love this collection. George Strait is one of the most diverse, talented and soulful of our contemporary country singers. This is a superb and well-rounded look at this wonderful artist. This collection and his CD Honkytonkin are my all-time George Strait favorites. Additionally, this box set is a a real bargain.

What can I say about Alan Jackson that hasn't already been said. He is a great performer.

Cowboys in the Jungle. Now I know what Jimmy meant. I am a long time Parrothead so it was natural for me to pick up this CD. Really do enjoy the music - just a fun CD. I recommend it!

Great album!!! I like the Jimmy Buffet songs on it but my favorites and the reason for buying the album are the George Strait & Alan Jackson songs. I love the "grass roots" country sound. I am tired of all the "Pop" stars trying to do country.

If you enjoy Alan Jackson and country music, this CD is a must. It is really well done and has some great songs.

George Strait sings Christmas songs every bit as well as he does everything else. A real winner.

True to form this CD by George Strait was just what I expected. My favorite song on this CD is There's a New Kid in Town.

I remember listening to this CD (well it was a tape then) all the time growing up! Now that I am trying to build up my own Christmas collection, this is one of the first that I looked for! George Strait is at his best, with Christmas favorites as well as several original songs. My favorites are "When it's Christmastime in Texas," "Merry Christmas Strait to You," and "There's a New Kid in Town." This is a must-buy for any George Strait fan!!

I love George Strait's music.If you look at my profile you will see that I have rated numerouse other cd's of his and gave them all 5 star. He is my favorite artist, but this cd is just plain bad.

If you like George Strait, you will like this CD. As a previous reviewer mentioned, a few of the songs are bit slow and sound kind of wooden. Luckily its only a few songs and the rest have that Texas Swing sound that George is known for. "Merry Christmas Strait to You" is the best song on the CD.

This album was worth it for just the first two songs! I Know What I Want For Christmas and Old Time Christmas. And the 3rd. And 4th. And...
Johnny Mathis has serious competition for best Christmas songs.

We had heard the CD before, and wanted one, so we looked and looked for it in stores. We were so pleased to find it at Amazon, we ordered it right away. Great music!

I love George Strait and it was great to have one of his Christmas CD's.

I got this cd off of ebay for christmas and I loved it. I thought it was alot better than "...strait to you" was. I love "Noel Leon" and George's version of "The Christmas song".

Helps round out my G.S. collection. This CD was received in good condition & arrived in a timely manner. Good job all the way around.

George Strait is one of those artists that can never have enough hits collections. As long as he is selling records and topping the charts, hits collections will just keep on coming.

And, Strait's original, the 1985 'Greatest Hits' release spanning George's first three records is essential. Yes, it's really skimpy, and it's only 10 songs long, but so what? It's still really definitve, and it gives the casual fan who wants nothing but classic George what they are looking for.

I'd recommend this over '50 Number Ones,' which features really bad single edits so 51 songs could fit on two CDs. But these are the full length album versions, digitally remastered to sound great. MCA gets extra pointers for remastering this.

I also like the song choice here. 'You Look So Good In Love,' 'Right Or Wrong,' 'A Fire I Can't Put Out,' 'Unwound,' and 'Marina Del Rey' all appear on this set, which are some of his finer songs.

Highly recommended for any George Strait fan. A great CD to own. ENJOY!!!

As a new George Strait fan, I like this one almost as much as Greatest Hits Vol. 2. And better than his newer recordings.

very good basic greatest hits if you just want to have the songs in one place. it is still missing a lot but this came out awhile ago. all in all I am happy with it.

This is a good album for anyone who is a George
Strait fan.

Strait's cover of Terry Stafford's 1973 hit,
"Amarillo By Morning" is the centerpiece of the
album, and deserves a little attention.

While Strait's version of this song is probably the
most similar to Stafford's original performance,
with all the improvements in instrumentation,
it still lacks something of the spirit of the original.
Maybe it's the different style of backing vocals.
Still a decent cover, and since Stafford's version
isn't likely to become available on CD any time soon,
it's probably as good as we're gonna get.

George Strait's Greatest Hits covers his first four years of music. Ten songs to some up 4 years. These may not be some of his best known songs these days, but George Strait's Greatest Hits houses some of his finest music. Classics like Unwound, Amarillo by Morning, and You Look so Good in Love just to name a few. Although there are more comprehensive packages out their Greatest Hits is a great introduction to the music of George Strait.
