Jagged Edge

This album is a straight classic. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of a couple songs that are faster and harder, I just think they are better off doin straight slow jams. Anyway, definitely a go hard. Bought it in 8th grade, I'm 22 now and throw it in the deck still

Ballads such as Promise, He Can't Love U, Let's Get Married and True Man truly make My poor, little heart melt into a million and one pieces! I love them! They are in my top favorite male R&B group, and this album is the very reason!!!

All of the songs are decent, but my absolute favorite standout is Did She Say? It's just an awesome mid-tempo (I believe). Nice lyrics, great harmonies and the whole lot.

I'm telling You - buy this album for Yourself and for two others. They will be calling You up by the weekend to thank You!!

Don't be surprised if They call You back again, to tell You that They're getting You something extra special for the holidays!! <3

Thank You, JE for releasing a classic album with NO FILLER TRACKS. Can't say the same for 95% of R&B music these days...

Did i listen to the same album everyone else did? Because almost all the other reveiws said this was an almost perfect album. I strongly disagree. Its not bad, but compared to there first album, this is nothing special. This album did have WAY more hits than their first, but the quality of music on this album is not nearly as good as A Jagged Era. But this is still a decent album that obviously will sell lots of records. And i cant deny that JE is the most talented R&B group in a long time. They all have extraordinary voices. The biggest problem with this album is the production could have been so much better. But none the less it will sell alot, one of the biggest reasons is because of the massive single "Let's Get Married", which will likely be played at weddings for years to come. And the second single "Promise" faired pretty well with the radio as well. BUt besides those couple of big singles, this album seemed empty. The only other standout tracks on the album is the intro which should have been made into a song, and "Lace You" which is a more mid tempo track about how they can hook their woman up with the finer things as well as love them. Overall this was just another attempt at R&B royalty that failed. I would say only buy this album if you are a massive JE fan.

This is true R&B and the best of Jagged Edge. This is one of my favorite cd's of all time and my favorite Jagged Edge cd. I can listen to the whole cd over and over.

Their first and third album "Jagged Little Thrill" are the best efforts out to date. This album is full with ballads which are the standouts of this album but overall this album is fulfilling and can't wait for a new album from them.

As most of my reviews, I did not purchase this cd off of Amazon. But, I will give my opinion of this cd. I actually really enjoyed this cd and I would suggest to it anyone who likes Jagged Edge and for anyone who likes slow jams. YMMV. NEOSOUL06

I love JE & have been a fan since they come out. I didn't even know this cd came out back in late '07. I now have every cd they've made. I feel they are soooo under rated. I can't count how many hits they've came out with & still don't get the respect they deserve. I wish I could see these men in concert. I would saciface my bill money to see them perform , but I live in Pittsburgh, Pa & not too many artist that I enjoy come here. So I will continue to enjoy their music from the comfort of my home.

I am always impressed with these fellas, and the more they put out the more I am going to cop a copy. The album had to grow on me but I do rank it rather high with there 1st album and the 2nd albums.

I think it's safe to say that Jagged Edge's most successful albums were their first three. The first album from them that I really paid attention to was Hard, which turned out to be anything but because it was yet another album that made me say, "Well, at least they released the right songs." I didn't get a chance to hear their self-titled album (but I don't think anyone else did either), but I still decided to check out Baby Makin' Project.

Since the guys are back on So So Def for this release, some people might expect a big party goin' on, but that's not the case. In fact, there aren't any fast songs on here at all; as the album title suggests, many of the songs on here are strictly for getting in the mood. The best song in that vein would be the single "Put a Little Umph in It" with Ashanti. However, they don't always excel in that category, as evidenced by "Turn U On", which is extremely hard to follow. And the corny "Can't Get Right" made me say just that.

The album fares better when the guys DON'T talk about making love, like on "Whole Town Laughing" and possibly "Me That's Who". But there really aren't any standouts to the likes of "Promise", "Walked Outta Heaven" or "He Can't Love U", even though everyone can still sing. While far from being garbage, Baby Makin' Project is an album that only the true JE fan can appreciate; it would've been better had they followed the lead single and put a little umph in it.

I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT JAGGED EDGE IS THE ONE GROUP THAT NEVER DISAPPOINTS ME. I HAVE EVERY SINGLE ALBUM THEY HAVE PUT OUT. THEY ARE THE MOST UNDER RATED R&B GROUP OUT THERE. MY FAVORITE JOINTS OF THIS CD ARE UMPH, WHOLE TOWN LAUGHING AT ME, WAT TO SAY I LOVE YOU, ROUND AND ROUND, HELL.. I LOVE THE WHOLE CD. I JUST WISH THEY WOULD HAVE GAVE ME MORE SONGS! BUT THEY ARE STILL MY NUMBER ONE GROUP. WHEN ARE YOU GUYS COMING BACK TO CALIFORNIA?

This CD compiles all the wonderful songs from Jagged Edge. I listen to it often.

For starters this is a good album, but I'll get to the bad first. With only 11 songs and 44 minuts of their songs, they definitely could have included 5-7 more songs on here. As a fan mostly of rap music (I have around 650 rap CD's and only 2 dozen or so R&B ones) but the 4 man group from North Carolina, Jagged Edge, is one of my favorite R&B groups so I had to check this out. With 5 albums under their belt when this was released, 2 album only have 1 songs on here and 1 album has none, and 2 other songs are off the "So-So Def Remix" album. Now for the good part, of the 11 songs, 1 is a classic, 6 are real good, 3 are ok and 1 I skip over. They did get most of their better sogns on here but a few more defintely should be here as well. Guests are on 4 sogns (1 song JE only does the hook). Production is mostly by Jermaine Dupri & Bryan Cox (7 songs), JE does 2 and Chad elliott and Pitch Black each do 1. If you have their 1st 2 albums I'd skip this since they're the majority of the songs on here.

There was a time when I thought Jagged Edge could be one of the better groups in R&B after their successful first two albums. Sadly after the release of Jagged Little Thrill the group began to go down hill and all of their music began to sound the same. The CD contains all o the groups biggest and may be a sign that the label is getting ready to drop the group. The Hits does contain Jagged Edge's biggest hits from 1997 through 2005, but it's very brief at only 11 cuts and leaves out a handful of singles that did chart (four of which went Top 40 R&B) throughout the same span of time. Most of the group's albums -- 1997's A Jagged Era and 2001's Jagged Little Thrill especially -- have more to offer than just their singles, so this compilation will only satisfy those who are set on obtaining the outright smashes (such as "Let's Get Married," "Walked Outta Heaven," "He Can't Love U," and "Where the Party At") and nothing else. It has to annoy the group that this disc was released only six months after their self-titled fifth album, and that the compilers didn't even consider some of the best album cuts ("Wednesday Lover" "Slow Motion", True Man and "Watch You"," just to name a few. Another compliant with the CD is the lack of rare & unreleased material the disc could have included ("All Out Of Love"," On My Way" and "Hope You're Happy" are all classics). Regardless, The Hits is a decent introduction to a group that made up for its lack of jaw-dropping greatness with consistently good output.

I found exactly what he asked for and for a cheaper price than in the store. The quality was just as good if not better.

This was a mistake. JE can do so much better. Hard is not an absoulutely horrible album but, they went to thug with it. To many of the songs are thug, and to many street anthems. Those type of songs are ok sometimes, but when the majority of the album is those type, is when it gets old real fast. But there are some good tracks to. The trend of having one big single that causes big album sales continues on this album with the massive single "Walked Outta Heaven" which is actually a good song. But there was not even a second single. I am sure they released one but i dont think it even charted. But "Walked Outta Heaven" alone is a great love song. But other than that the only other good song i can think of on this album is "Girls Gone Wild" which is pretty much "Where The Party At? Part 2" but better, and "Tryna Find The Words" which has a sick beat. But other than those three songs, there are a couple of decent tracks but the rest is just filler. I will never deny JE's talent, cause they have lots of it, and i am the first to admit that i am a huge JE fan. The problem is though, that since Jagged Era, they have not released anything truly special. They have not released an album that i can listen to over and over again. So far they have put out one great album, one good album, one average album, and one below average album being this one. JE can do alot better than this.

How crazy is it that the same group can challenge their own record for one of, if not THE best RnB album from a group in possibly a decade or so (J.E. Heartbreak)?

This album, even by their own standards, is AMAZING. Ladies, what do we do when we hear the opening harp-pics of 'Walked Outta Heaven'? Yeah, I know, I can't write it here! But the answer is even quoted in the 'They Ain't J.E. Remix'..."Them baby-makin ballads got 'em..." well you know the rest!

Um, lemme see, a bad song on this album...'Shady Girl'; literally the only song I do not love. But hello? On the flip side, we have 'Tryna Be Your Man', 'I Don't Wanna' my personal favourite! 'In Private', and of course the title track 'Hard'.

My respect for them increased ten-fold after seeing them live, and believe me when I tell you that it IS possible for them to sound better than they do on record. Their time-keeping needs ALOT of work - but I can promise you that once they get on stage you begrudgingly forgive them for keeping you waiting so long!!!

I don't think it's possible to find a word that accurately describes this brilliant album, but I WILL second an earlier comment. It is CRIMINAL that this group aren't bigger than they are. With all the talent-devoid, insipid [...] littering the charts these days, it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE that they aren't the leaders of today's new school. CRIMINAL.

The Atlanta quartet's fourth release entitled Hard holds it down for R&B's rougher yet smooth male groups with very little competition delivers another solid album. This time without Jermaine Dupri executive producing this LP, he still lends a production hand with two, but the twins managed to step up to the plate show leadership. "They Ain't JE" produced by Jazze Pha leads the album off with a near blow to other male R&B groups with lyrics "...they cool, but they ain't JE..." as the Remix featuring Street Katz & Woonie concludes the album. The highlight of Hard is "Walked Outta Heaven". This song showcases their strength in harmony with a slow groove one of the three produced by longtime contributor Bryan Michael Cox. "Girls Gone Wild" featuring Major Damage is a mid-tempo groove about approaching admiring women "...that's what's up..." Downshifting back to a slow tone, "Visions" has a smart replayed sample bass guitar makes the song ride easily. Another highlight is found in the title track with its mid-tempo drum pattern and piano, but the chorus' tone definitely carries the weight of the song. To add to the different settings, "Dance Floor" has the up-beat flavor to give Jagged Edge more depth. As in any many situations of a relationship JE expresses their feelings on "Trying To Find The Words". On the other side on "What's It Like" they show a side of reaching maturity seeking love and experiencing life to its fullest. Adding another dance tempo track, "Tryna Be Your Man" the objective is being more than just a friend. Referring back to their strength with another smooth ballad "I Don't Wanna" with overpowering guitar licks. Displaying vocal range with a higher octave for the opening verse, "In Private" is a highlight and mood setter for a sexy endeavor. Lyrically, Jagged Edge is down to earth without complex analogies as with "In The Moring" they explain why "...I can't get enough..." "Shady Girl" includes a Naughty By Nature piano sample to speed the album to a mid / cruising level. Big Boi of OutKast feature on "Car Show" added to the LP with a more good feeling track as they compares their feelings with cars. The only problem found or not found on this album is that there are too many fillers and not enough single. Getting to the point, it's missing more HITS. Never the less this album has a more mature feeling as compared to the previous three. Hard is what it is.

I was going through my collection and decided to listen to this album and I had forgotten how much I love this album. The songs were right on point, the vocals perfect, the lyrics fitting. I took off one star because I hate when the keep talking about being a P.I.M.P. That kinda talk is very juvenile. Otherwise this is one of their best albums.

Jermaine Dupri introduced us to Jagged Edge in 1998. Their debut, "A Jagged Era" had a decent amount of success, propelled by their first and only single from this album, the amazing track, "Gotta Be." After this album, they become much more popular with this like "Promise", "Let's Get Married", "Where the Party At" and "What's it Like?" They were out around the same time as Dru Hill and 112, and, personally, I preferred Dru Hill and 112 over them, but these gentlemen are remotely talented nonetheless. They each have good singing voices, but their best attribute is definitely their unified harmony.

This album is ten tracks long; it's definitely just a decent disc. There is no groundbreaking material, no truly profound lyrics and Jermaine Dupri does nothing new as far as the production is concerned. However, there are a few good moments that may compel you to press the rewind button. In short, the best songs here are "Gotta Be", "Funny How" and "The Rest of our Lives." Each of these songs are about love and the men of Jagged Edge do a great job with their vocal synchronicity. Many people who are in love can relate to the words in "Gotta Be." This song is just a testament to your lover that you just have to be the one they love. It's pretty deep, especially if you have been in love. This is one of their best songs to date. "Funny How" has great melody from beginning to end. The guitar and drum really compliment each other here, also. "Addicted to Your Love" sounds a little like Erykah Badu's hit, "Bag Lady", but this song came out first, so apparently Badu has been listening to her share of Jagged Edge CDs. This song is about a woman who makes a man feel so great that he is simply addicted to her.

Jagged Edge needs to work on making their albums better. They need less filler. I recommend this album to fans of the group, but to hear JE at their best, invest in "Jagged Little Thrill." Neither are masterpieces, but that album has something for all R&B fans. 3 stars.

A Jagged Era, is Laced With Bangin' Beats, and Smooth Harmonies, That Grip You, And Don't Let Go. The Lyrics Are Run-of-the-Mill sometimes, But it Still Beats 97% of that "Hip-Hop".

Anyway, this CD is Pretty Decent, and Worth Buying. It's Soothing, Sexy and Lulling. You Don't Wanna Miss This, And Of Course, Jagged Edge, Rarely Ever Disappoints.

This is just a great and unappreciated album. Most people don't even know this album exsists. They did not sell many records on this one. But the records that they did sell earned them lots of fans. This is an album that shows how JE was before they hit it big time. The production is a little rough, but it has a good sound to it. The perfect way to describe this album is calm. There is not a whole lot of up beat tracks and the few tracks that are, are good. This album really shows lots of emotion. The single "I Gotta Be" which got a fair amount of airplay, is a showcase of vintage JE. They sound so good together on this album. They just blend perfectly. And they have not made an album like this one since this one. Its not a perfect album, but it beats most of there other stuff, pending on their new album Baby Makin Project which comes out tomorrow. Another stand out track is "Funny How" which everyone can relate to in some way or another, its a more slow song but it has a heartfelt meaning to it. And then there is the other classic "Wensday Lover" which is another great JE baby maker. But this album is where the JE legacy began, and it is could be their best album yet.

This cd is one of the best of Jagged Edge and made me a fan. I enjoy the whole cd and listen to every song. I love their voices and the lyrics. Even if you don't know who Jagged Edge is, after listening to this cd you'll become a fan.

I really like JE's music, so I decided to get their debut album. It's not that bad and I did like "I Gotta Be"(the best song), "Wednesday Lover", "The Way That You Talk" and "The Rest of Our Lives". There were a few things that irritated me about this album. Since this CD is mostly slow ballads, it was so annoying to hear Lil Kim or whoever it was and Busta Rhymes rapping on some tracks. And then on the track "Slow Motion", I was thinking why did JE do a twist to Tupac's "Hail Marry" towards the end of the song. That was totally unneccessary and made the song worse.

This was a beginning for JE and they definately improved in the R&B game. If it wasn't for the annoying voices of Lil Kim and Busta Rhymes that was so unneeded, this CD would have been perfect.

This was a definite improvement on JE's last album. Heartbreak was not as good as hoped. The biggest thing that helped this album is the outbreak hit "Where The Party At?" which was the party anthem of the year, and also helped them sell records tremendously. Though the album is not perfect it is alot better than Heartbreak. I think the thing that helped this album the most was the fact that the majority of it was produced by a young & still fresh full of beats Mr. Bryan Michael Cox. That helped alot. Even though after Where the Party At there was no other big singles that song alone can sell records. Even though it got old real fast. But the difference with this album from the last was that the album tracks (not the singles) made the album good. "Goodbye" was a phenominal song about having to say goodbye to a loved one, even though it was a single it hardly even charted. But in my opinion this album revolves around the track "Best Man", which if you have ever had a girl cheat on you with a friend of yours, will surely cause some emotions to show. Another one of the standout tracks "Driving Me To Drink" is another mid tempo banger from JE. You can probably guess what its about. Overall this album again will sell alot, only difference this time is that it is actually worth buying. JE improved but, they can still do alot better.

If you would be "hard-pressed to name a single member of Jagged Edge" or "couldn't pick one out of a line-up" whilst claiming to know the first thing about popular music, that would make you an idiot of such imbecilic proportions I would find it a wonder you could spell your own name.

This is the group that answered the age-old question that every 90's RnB fan had for the best part of the decade: if you mixed the smooth sensitivity of Boyz II Men with the overt sexuality of Jodeci, what would you get? Well here is your answer.

Them Jagged boys solidified their position at the top of the heirarchical pyramid with this album. "A Jagged Era", many I'm sure will agree, wasn't the answer we'd hoped for to the above question; and in all honesty, had I heard it first I think it would've have been a harder task for me to recognise their greatness.

No - it was J.E. Heartbreak that kicked open the door. "Jagged Little Thrill" just proved they were here to stay, and Hallelujah for it. I won't say it's my favourite of their albums, because it's not. I REALLY hate that 'Promise' remix (forget how; WHY would you mess with perfection?); and whilst I appreciate the sentiment behind 'Head Of This Household', I'm a bit too much of a feminist for things of that nature, even if my lovely Brian is crooning it.

But with melters like 'Can We Be Tight', 'Remedy' & 'Best Man' who can be mad at them? Not me honey, I'll tell you that...

Jagged Edge, the best group this century, did it again with this one. I remember the first day I bought this CD. I bought this and Alicia Key's Songs In a Minor at the same time. Since Alicia Keys was a new artist at the time, I listened to the for sure hit makers Jagged Edge first. Now I skipped "Where the Party At? Hey like liked but it was on the radio. When Goodbye came on I was like hell yeah, a classic JE song. But when I listened to the rest of the CD, I was quite disappointed......................AT FIRST. When I took a closer listen to the CD I was blown away, at the mature of the music, and how far they had come since A Jagged Era. Now if you know anything about JE you know that their love songs are the sh&t. This Cd they switched it up, they gave you some hot club songs, like I Got It w/Trina, where the Party At? w/Nelly, and the pick of the litter Cut Something w/Ludacris; which is by far one of the hottest songs of the CD. The evolution of JE continued with some of the other songs on the album. I guess the Casey twins were going through break-up with LeToya Luckett and Latavia Roberson (formerly of Destiny's Child), the majority of the songs were break-up songs. But the crown jewel of the CD is the final track Remedy, the lone traditional love song on the album. With Remedy JE takes you back to JE Heartbreak, and freaks it with lyrics like this:

All in All "Thrill" is JE best work but it's damn close.

I remember this album when I was 14. I love this album and it is enjoyable making every song seem like a love story. Jagged Little Thrill takes the listener on an emotionally stimulating ride. This album is filled with the quartet's trademark heartfelt ballads. This album signifies their graduation into the school of classic R&B acts. This album also showcases undeniable maturity,growth,and confidence as four men who can say what they mean,build on the old,and slide in the new,while still keeping you grooving to each tune-every time. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember,this was 2001-2002.

Yet again, JE's serves up another great soulful R&B album. These guys are so talented. The thing that bothers me the most about this album is how much it got overlooked. I think it has mostly to do with the number of times this album got pushed back. It debuted strong on the charts, but then it fell off really fast. And i mean really fast. And none of the singles really did anything on the charts. And the funny thing is, as far as singles go, i think this album may have some of their best singles yet. The amazing party anthem track "So Amazing", was pretty much unheard of as far as charts go as it barely even made it in the top R&B songs, let alone the pop 100. And then the masterpiece ballad of love "Good Luck Charm" is easily one of JE's best songs, and this one barely even cracked the top 100 to. And then there is the amazing chill song "Watch You", which has a very unique oriental sound to it, but at the same time it is a very sexy song as well. But JE shows their signature sound on the steamy baby making track "Baby Feel Me", which in my opinion is the best baby making song they have ever made. Sure, there are a few songs that detract from the albums quality, like the completely unnecessary "Sexy American Girls", which is pretty much just a lame excuse for a club song. Picture "Girls Gone Wild" (From Their album Hard), but with way worse production. But when they avoid those thug party tracks, and focus on their melodies, like on the soothing "Ghetto Guitar" and on the mid tempo love song "Hopefully". Again, Jagged Edge is easily the best R&B group since Boyz II Men, and though this album isnt perfect, it still justifys that this is a legendary band with an enormous amount of talent.

I am a true fan but this is not my favorite compared to my previous experiences. I do not regret getting it because I luv me some JER.

I love Jagged Edge. I think this CD is great. Sometimes I enjoy it way to much that I repeat most of the songs all the time. My favorites are

I am a BIG fan of J.E. but this cd never gave you that true J.E. hotness. It just didn't come through. They tried but, IT WAS JUST REALLY BAD! I was DISAPPOINTED! They need to come back with more songs like those on the initial cd. That cd was off the hook! More songs like those!

Well I had originally bought (downloaded) this cd to find a certain song which I didn't know the name. I was looking for the heavy guitar song during the final chase/action scene in Grand Central Station...If anyone knows the name of it. please let me know...ty

Well the bad company soundtrack is pretty good, I think and to all the illiterate people out there: It says "music from the motion picture" on the cover of the CD not "score of the motion picture". You might also turn the CD and read the names of the songs before you buy it and then complain about it.

I'm fully aware that some of this "music" was in the movie, unfortunately. Remember that scene in the movie (and trailer) when Anthony Hopkins says "Is that rap? It's terrible."

The CD has nothing going for it, sans BMBBO (Trevor Rabin). A true "Bad Company Soundtrack" would have the score to the movie. Most of these "songs" included were in the movie no longer than 1 minute. Trevor Rabin is a musician; these 'artists' are not.
