It is nice music similar to his first album. Easy listening I listen . I like it very much

First time listener of James Blunt and I loved this CD (but I love Britpop). Very catchy tunes, fun and good from one track to the next. I am tempted but buy his previous release.

Best Tracks are: "1973", "Same Mistake", "Carry You Home" and "Annie".

I'm very happy with this purchase and look forward to his next offering.

This guy is just awful! His voice is way too nasal. The music is too simple, and the style so sweet it makes me sick. Sorry guys! There are so many good artists out there that does not get playtime in the radio, and they deserves it more than mr./mrs. Blunt here. For instance You should try Peter Mayer (Green Eyed Radio or Musicbox), if You like soft music. He has a better voice, and he is a better musician IMO.

Although I loved James Blunt's first CD, this one lacks substance and is, I think, sort of a downer. I find myself turning it off after only listening to the first half. I keep trying to give it another chance, but it isn't his best. (I DID listen to the whole CD a couple of times by the way.)

This is a great CD and I listen to it all the time. Definately a must have if you like the first album.

I came upon this album late in the game, but its been an instant favorite.

I actually listened to his second album, 'All the lost souls' before this one and while both are wonderful, I like the second one slightly better. However, 'Back to Bedlam' certainly has it's charming and poignant moments.

James Blunt's voice is hypnotic and depressingly beautiful, he has no equal when it comes to angst-ridden melodies and his anguish-filled voice is mesmerising. He sounds incredibly sincere when he sings.

'You're beautiful'- Overplayed but a wonderful single.
'High'- wonderful beginning and has a great range- one of my faves on this CD
'Goodbye my Lover'- THE best song on here. Utterly depressing and gorgeous. There are not enough words...
'Cry'- Lovely, lovely song. Again, that voice is used to great effect.
'Tears and Rain'- Stirring and passion-filled.

The other songs are also very good, those 5 are just my faves on the album. He really is a breath of fresh air. While others may consider him 'whiny', and I can somewhat understand what they mean, I just don't see it as that. I guess it is a matter of opinion, but I am completely infatuated with him.

I love his voice and I really have not heard a song yet that I did not like.

You may buy the CD for one song, but you are treated to enjoying the entire CD! It's a shame more of the songs aren't circulating amongst the public. I bought it because I love his music! When I played it at the business I manage, customers and co-workers loved it, and HAD TO KNOW WHO AND WHAT IT WAS. Nuff said.

Welcome James Blunt! Those of us who love lyrics..moving, emotional, inspiring and thought provoking lyrics welcome James Blunt into our lives. We've missed you! Never since John Lennon have I felt such emotion listing to a song. I mean ALL of his songs. There isn't one song in which I haven't connected with and loved hearing over and over again. Finally music with soul. Music with real meaning. My meaning being different from his or yours, but meaning none the less. FINALLY!

"Playback prohibited by area limitations". No one at Amazon tells you that some imports don't play on some DVD players. Gee Thanks

I live in Oregon. I bought this set and could not play the DVD. It will not play on the DVD player or on the computer and we even changed regions. I love James Blunt and have his CD (the CD in this set is great too after you get used to it being live) but I found the DVD impossible to play. I paid for something I can't even use!

This DVD is an import from the European market and does NOT run on US machines. I have 4 DVD players and all 4 rejected this item. Amazon is trying to refund me 8.51 for a 22.98 purchase that THEY SHOULD NOT BE SELLING IN THE US in any case. What a ridiculous rip off. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! Amazon is totally irresponsible in selling it. James Blunt himself should be furious. BAD, BAD, BAD deal.

Great product, if you love James Blunt you will love this DVD... only problem is that it won't play on my dvd player BUT I can play it on my dvd player on my laptop...

One cd is completely unusable.
And, both cd's are the same as far as music goes. It was not not clear
when I purchased them that they were the same.

I was unaware that James Blunt's Back to Bedlam CD came in two versions-- clean and filled with foul language. When I ordered the used version, I saw no warning that there would be expletives in songs I had heard without profanity. This should have been put right in the description -- I am unhappy about the CD, and upset that such beautiful songs are ruined with inappropriate language.

One could argue that James Blunt is the sensitive, less funky incarnation of Maroon Five. In fact I think I will argue that. Back to Bedlam, to me, has a classic feel to it, and is one of the better pop debuts I've heard. It's main strength is in its lyrics.

Blunt sings with such experience in his voice, such emotional grace carrying through, that he could get away with trite lyrics if he wanted to. As it is, his lyrics are both rich and catchy (not a usual pairing) and the album a hit. The first 6 songs are instant classics with regard to style, Tears and Rain an all-round excellent musical experience, and You're Beautiful hard to deny. The final track No Bravery is the poignant impartation of Blunt's experience as a British soldier in the recent Middle East conflicts.

The only downside to this CD is found in repetition. While many would say that Blunt makes the falsetto work, after owning the CD for almost a year, I find the upper register somewhat annoying. 4.5 stars

This cd is profound in the stories that are told in the songs. A couple of the songs can be heard on the radio and the others are just as good. Most of them are sad but tell a great story.

Some deluded person with bad hearing compared James Blunt to Tori Amos. Hardly. He was lucky with 'Beautiful'. Listen closely- that sucks too! The ramblings of an emotionally desperate middle school student. I rue the day she made eye contact with James. This album is like hummingbird nectar- lotsa sugar but no substance. I hate that I was tricked into buying it. I hate that James Blunt took 80 minutes of my life that I will never recover. I was so hopeful when I bought it. Bottom line: Melodramatic lyrics coupled with uninspired music. Skip it.

I wasn't sure if I would like all the songs on this CD, and after listening too it I have to say it was WELL worth the money!!! I like the 'clean' version better as I didn't think the cursing really fit in the songs I heard with it in (and I am not the type that is against cursing).

James Blunt sings from his heart and expresses his emotion fully. His voice is very touching that I like to listen over and over again......

James Blunt was everywhere all of a sudden. After they featured him on Oprah, sales went through the roof, his music was featured in big time bank commercials on TV, you couldn't turn around without hearing it blasting on the radio, he was on Love Monkey starring Tom Cavanaugh, before it was cancelled, playing himself, and who is that having his nipple nibbled by a super model on the beach at St. Tropez?



Why it is James Blunt. But being ubiquitous, as it were, has its drawbacks, so get ready for the Blunt backlash.



Some people complained they were sick of his high voice, hearing the song so much, and why did he put his capo on the 8th fret, on the song "You're Beautiful," making it sound like he was plucking a ukelele. He sounds like a stalker in that song, obsessed with some girl he will never know in the biblical sense.



To the scoffers I say, James Blunt has prevailed, and not only that, he has done pretty well for a drab looking English bloke who is not really very tall. That super model was his new girl friend, which makes the song, "You're Beautiful" a self-fullfiling prophecy, or if anything, it exceeds his dream.



Back to Bedlam is a great album by a promising newcomer who has already scored several hits on his first go round. Love the way the piano is woven around his voice and guitar in "You're Beautiful" and on the other cuts on Back to Bedlam.

I love this CD. Be aware though, that the "F" word is used in Beautiful instead of "flying high" like it says on the radio.

James Blunt is definitely one of the most successful newcomers around. His single "You're Beautiful" topped all the charts and is still a huge success. In Europe, though, he was also very successful with his other singles "Goodbye My Lover", "High" and, most notably, "Wisemen". All these fantastic songs can be found on his album "Back To Bedlam".
"Back To Bedlam" is one of those rare albums with no filler tracks, nailing song after song after song. Blunt's style is mellow, nostalgic and melodramatic. He has a wonderful falsetto, which he often uses in his most emotionally charged ballads ("You're Beautiful", "Goodbye My Lover", "No Bravery"), but he never crosses the line of being corny or pathetic. Sure, there are a lot of artists of this style out there, but James Blunt is actually an awesome musician, a fantastic songwriter and a great singer.
He proves his singing talents even more on the second disk of this special edition of "Back To Bedlam". The second disk is called "Live in Ireland" and it is a live performance of most of the songs from the album, with three new tracks - "Where Is My Mind?", "Fall At Your Feet" and the fantastic "Sugar Coated". The CD is also enhanced with the "Goodbye My Lover" video, and a short documentary about the making of it.
This is a great double-disk to have in your collection. "Back To Bedlam" is an outstanding debut album, and it will be interesting to follow James Blunt's career from this point on.

A few of my own notes, based on this purchase --

First of all, I cannot find the portable music files that this MVI claims on the sticker. Perhaps I'm missing it somewhere, but I cannot find them. It's no big deal anyway, since the bonus CD is simply just the CD version of the album, which is a nice bonus for those people who wish to listen to the album on a CD player. Also, having the CD gives one the ability to rip portable music files anyway.

The music presented on the MVI DVD is high quality stereo, not 5.1 audio as originally advertised. Fortunately, the MVI allows one to scroll through the different menus while listening to the music. Registering this MVI disc via e-mail address and name will give access to an exclusive extra of "Annie [Live From The Garden Shed]", a track which appears as a b-side on international pressings of the '1973' single.

I must note, however, that accessing this extra live cut of "Annie" was a bit tricky at first. I was led to believe that my registration would be activated through my e-mail. That was not the case, so make sure that the registration is being activated immediately by clicking the appropriate registration tab. The live cut of "Annie" presented here is a real special extra, since I think it's a highlight song on the album. It's stunning in both it's original version and it's live cut, which is simply a quiet acoustic version without any audience backing.

By registering this MVI one can receive updated information and bonus material with an Internet connection.

Overall, I highly recommend this MVI release of 'All The Lost Souls' over just the regular CD edition. The interview, bonus features, and live track are a nice addition to the otherwise standard audio CD. My only complaint is the lack of 5.1 audio, which I was really looking foward to with this release. Still, I cannot complain too much with all these features. I'm looking forward to more MVI releases!!!

Have you ever lost anyone? A friend, a relative, a partner or spouse? To time, to distance, to...life?

There is nothing as agonizing in life as to lose someone who is a part of you. Regardless of which of the above broad categories it fits, the feeling is that of some miserly sprite cracking open your ribs, tossing out your lungs as if they were carburetors and cutting a jagged edge through your heart, only to thrust a dirty blade in your sternum and riding it down past your navel, letting all that is within to slosh about at your feet as it will.

If you haven't experienced this sort of loss, this song is a fair enough introduction; I have - twice, and to "life" - and the emotion that Blunt pushes out with his music and emotes with his voice captures it majestically. I can't listen to this song without that dirty blade finding its way back up to my heart.

As gruesome and depressing as this may sound, this song was by far my favorite of 2006.

Although I enjoyed the full CD of James Blunt's "Back To Bedlam", when I saw another new CD for $3.50+ + $5.00 for shipping I figured a deal was at hand!...until I opened it and there were two versions of "You're Beautiful" (one copied from radio and one James sung with an Acoustic guitar, there was one added song, but by then I wanted to send this $9.00 debacle back to where-ever it came from. I saw no warning that the CD contained only two songs alike and one different one.It reminded me of the old Extended plays 45's that we got 3-4 songs on..and they were rippoffs that did NOT last long either!

Don't expect a full CD of songs by this new artist, a two-hit wonder. Goodbye, My Lover Part one is all you get, albeit a long version.

one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. filled with love, passion, sadness, unbelieveable emotions......

James Blunt is one of the very few perfomers this past year who has definitely delivered with so many great songs from You're Beautiful, to the soulful High. His thrid single, Goodbye My Lover, from is debut album Back To Bedlam, really doesn't hit the mark as his earlier singles did. Although the song isn'ta bad song, I just actually didn't find this one as appealing as the other songs. The melody seems here a bit more somber, than soulful and uplifting. I still love his songs, but I just hope the next single he comes out with delivers a bit better than right now. This isn't as beautiful as before.

James Blunt had a phenomenal success with his stunning first-ever single "You're Beautiful" taken from his debut album "Back To Bedlam" and though the other songs fall pretty short of rhythm of that wondrous melodious track,"Wisemen" does provoke a sense of enchantment in the listener's soul. This song is different from the love-driven "You're Beautiful" and has a philosophical accent about it. What's remarkable about this song is the stength with which James Blunt sings it coupled with its powerful meaning. Indeed it's always an eternal reason of awe to think that this was a man who was actually in the British army before turning into a male solo vocalist but after listening to his songs featured in "Back To Bedlam",you get a queer feeling that James Blunt would make it really big in the realm of pop music.

This guy is a true artist and genius with words. His simplicity and story telling abilities are amazing. "You're Beautiful" and "Goodbye My Lover" were my story while trying to recover from major spinal surgery. Both were the extremes of my feelings...so I listened to these ALOT! ;-) All of his songs simply bind themselves together into a ballad. It feels like he's telling someone's life story. The only artist I would put in his league would be "Mark Schultz" who is another lyrically genius that can touch someone's soul. Just sit back and listen to this album, close your eyes, and reflect. Fantastic album and one of my favorite artists. Can't wait for his next album! 5 STARS *****

This CD blew me away. Most of today's new music leaves me cold; I grew up with 50's Rock 'n Roll and pop music has changed a bit since then. I heard "Goodbye My Lover" on the radio and it stopped me in my tracks -- a good trick since I was on the freeway at the time! James Blunt is a MAJOR talent. Great songs, incredible lyrics. His songs and voice are full of passion, sorrow, and honesty -- a combination I find irresistable. James Blunt obviously has a lot to say!

"You're Beautiful" is another winner, a rueful tribute to a love that never was... but might have been. The CD ends with "No Bravery", written by Blunt while serving with the British Army in Kosovo. It has a tragic beauty that brings tears to my eyes. I love every song on this CD; the three I've mentioned are simply my favorites.

If you've never heard of James Blunt (I hadn't!), give "Back to Bedlam" a listen. You'll be very glad you did.
