Once again, Jesse Cook has a wonderful CD. I could never get tired of listening to this music. I take him with me no matter what I'm doing.

Like all of Jesse Cook's albums, this one is excellent! Though this might be his best one to date!

I have enjoyed Jesse Cook's style of music for sometime, but I think this cd is the best of all his releases. If you are a fan of Jesse I'm sure you will enjoy Fronties.

Jesse's new CD gives freshness to the Flamingo style of music along with great innovations using drums, clappers, bass and of course the great backup that comprises his band. Looking forward to the next CD.

Jesse is simply awesome. Can't really get too much of him, but for some reason I can't stand track 13 Toca Orilla. Must be me. This is a 2cd set so one bad song out of 26 isn't bad hey?

Thirteen dollars for almost 2 hours of Jesse Cook's music is an opportunity that you should not miss.
If you are already a fan of his work you will be thrilled by this collection. If you are new to his work you should buy this to introduce yourself to this marvelous artist.

If you are not familiar with mr. cook's music, this seems to be a good primer. I bought this with "frontiers" and am very happy with both!

I've never been too interested in classical guitar in the past. I heard a song of his a few times on XM jazz and decided to check the rest on line. I ownd two of his CD's now and they're both really good. A great change of pace from rock and regular jazz.

I've been buying and listening to Jesse Cook's music for a few years now after reading some of the reviews and now have every CD and DVD he's released and plays like the worlds best Flamenco guitarists ... Excellent .

Jess Cooke Tempest is fantastic. Highly recommend for everyone. His other albums are just as good if not better.

I am a guitar music lover, and basically Rumba-Flamenco is my favorit music, so I actually enjoy the whole CD content.

A little less deliberate than you can often find with other spanish guitarists, this is album is a pleasure for those wanting to experience outstanding spanish guitar. Soft, tender and rewarding.

This is one super-talented young artist! Jesse Cook has an unusual style, combining Spanish Flamenco with Middle Eastern. The band must keep a fire extinguisher close by Mr. Cook as he flashes up and down the fretboard, tracing fire on the strings of his guitar. I like to listen to Jesse Cook as I work in my pottery studio. The energy passes from the recording of Jesse's hands on the guitar, to my hands on the clay. I have bought all the currently avauilable albums Jesse has published.

I've been listening to Jesse Cook from day one and now have every album Including his excellent DVD Live One Night at The Metropolis and Gravity is just another classic .

This was a replacement for my daughter after her home burnt to the ground and as she remembers some of her favorite stuff I try and get it for her.

The only recommendation I have for new buyers is to get 2 CD right away. You will burn the first one by constantly playing it, so save yourself a waiting time and some shipping costs! This goes for any Cook's CD! This is kind of a product that you can just give it a five stars...no other comments are needed. Those "reviewers" giving less then 5 stars....just pure jealousy.

This is seriously some of the BEST music I have ever heard! Extremely well done, lively, and just plain delicious!

"Gravity," is the first of Jessie Cook's (five, excluding the compilations?) albums, and it continues to hold up as my favorite. I can recommend all five as worthy. I love the energy and creativity, and the way it makes me feel. His blend is less percussive, and more melodic. The music conveys a powerful, uplifting spirit that is both exciting and sensual.

I saw Jesse Cook perform in Annapolis, Maryland, several years ago with the very talented Bill Katsioutas, along with a percussionist. It was a great show, and absolutely confirmed Cook's athleticism with the guitar. I was disappointed these two didn't continue working together on future albums.

An interesting thing about Cook's music is that it's great for almost any situation - driving, writing, working out, or an evening with your lover (can I recommend Luna Llena for getting in the mood...)!

Charlotte Church is truly amazing, she has such a lovely angelic,magical,and beautiful voice. I have all of her cd's and they are all truly wonderful. This is worth owning to as is everything Charlotte Church comes out with. It as all of her songs that we're put out as singles and that was on the charts. No one can touch Charlotte Church at all her voice ranges higher than so many singers that she just will always be the top to me. Charlotte truly deserves to have this best of album and it is good to hear all of her music from the beginning up to some of her later stuff all on one terrific album.

I was introduced to Charlotte Church's music when I saw one of her concerts on PBS. This cd is a good collection of her music.

Her music ranges from opera to Broadway to traditional Celtic to pop.

Let's forget for the moment the unfortunate repertoire and lifestyle choices, and just listen to this recording.
"Pie Jesu, "Amazing Grace," and "The Prayer" with Josh Groban remind us of the sweet little girl with the "voice of an angel." That she was, in spite of the reviewers who say "too much, too soon."
Other tracks here--"Bridge Over Troubled Waters," "Ave Maria," "She Walked Through the Fair"--continue the style, with a bit of added maturity.
The problems come in when she moves to selections that are too heavy for her voice at this time. The "Habanera" is most unfortunate, with a stylized accompaniment that forces her to strain to be heard above it.
Perhaps "Issues and Tissues" was a learning experience for her. She has recently indicated her intentions to return to her earlier classical/semi-classical roots. Hopefully, with care, we can once again anticipate "the voice of an angel/"

I personally really loved this CD. I am especially impressed that she was extremely young when recording this CD...and while she still has room for improvement, that can pretty much be said about anyone. I was astounded by "Dream a Dream" (with Billy Gilman, who was especially young at that time). I think this was a good purchase and don't regret it at all.

My only other experience with Charlotte Church was seeing part of a PBS special on her, where she sang songs like "Some Enchanted Evening". I actually enjoy her voice on this style of music.

I love her rendition of "Amazing Grace". She also did good on covering "Bridge Over Troubled Water", though I was disappointed she didn't try the high note on the verses as Garfunkel did. My favorite on the project was "It's the Heart That Matters Most".

If I want some beautiful sounding music to relax to while I'm working, this would be a very good project for that.

I love Jesse Cook! This album is a must have for anyone who like great music.

I was introduced to the music of Jesse Cook by a friend. Usually new music has to grow on me before I realize I like it. In this case I was immediately drawn to the music and enjoyed it from the word go. I especially like the opening number on Vertigo. It is so fun and lively. Almost seems like a spontaneous production, very candid and personal.

I bought this album for the song "Fragile" featuring Holly Cole doing the vocals. That song is great, but I found that all the tracks were great. What an incredible guitar talent and he's backed by several other talented people.

Just a great cd!

I have never heard of this c.d. or the of J. Cook before I heard one of his cuts on XM and had to pick it up. I like every track and hope to buy more of his c.d.'s.
I am a painter/artist and this is the perfect stuff for me to create to.

I see all the negative and positive critics about this compilation and I just want to say that maybe is New Flamenco or maybe is not but this CD makes me feel very happy when I listen to it. And that is enough for me.
This is definitely not Elevator or Dentist music.

I would recommend this CD. A friend of mine had this Cd, I liked it so much I had to get my own copy. I have also had a lot of other friends ask about this CD.

I'm not a deticated fan of tis music as others may be but if you are oing to start anywhere, this is one you want. To me, all the songs are gtreat to listen to. The songs will take you to another world.

This CD is fantastic for anyone who loves Flaminco and the Flaminco guitar. It surges with energy and might just have you "dancing in the streets" or rushing out to sign up for lessons. Enjoy it; you won't be disappointed. P.S. I have heard and seen live Flaminco in Seville, more than once, and this one really took me back with even greater awe and admiration, in addition to the otherwise wonderful memories.

OK let me just settle all this criticism for all those who may want to buy this cd. First of all I play flamenco guitar professionally. There are 50 different styles of flamenco that are well know and countless others that arene't so well known.
Within those styles are hundreds of compas most based on the city in Spain of origin. There are a myriad of time signatures including the 12 meter hemiolic which most common in Bulerias.
I have reviewed this and other CD's like Flamenco chill and comment without reserve that these are flamenco songs. The "modernization" of flamenco music can be equated to blues appearing in every rock recording for the last 50 years. An old type flamenco recording would usually be a concert piece from Tarraga or Jerez or one those classically trained flamenco artists. It could well be argued that they classicized flamenco which ripped out all the guts and soul of the music. The amazing picado runs, powerful rageos, and alzapua licks are all mandatory elements of flamenco. If one would participate in a juelgo they would see a cajon, castenettes, palmas, cante, baille etc...this is a letre..a play of sorts with everyone responding to the cante. To listen to this in a recording would be like listening to the sound of a baseball game..there would be so much missing that it would be a complete waste of time.
SO stop tying to be mr. know it all and just enjoy music for what it is..an expression of human emotion....peace out

i'm an amature but trust me this fusion of guitars is one of the BEST your ears could ever..rythym,skill,harmony all in one.

If you like his CDs, this is a must. The music
comes alive and the energy is right there.
"Closer to Madness" and "Baghdad" and "Dance of
Spring" are over the top in joyfulness. The
Samba Squad adds mega percussion. You will be
cheering along with the crowd.

Started with this CD by accident from a co-worker and loved it.The sound quality is excellent. Lots of different "types" of guitar music. The guests vocals were wonderful. The audience really loved this performance and there are a few great surprises-like the marching band drums. Enjoy!

Jesse is just great and has great musicians along with him.
As always, extraordinary skill, melody, arrangement, musical sensibility, power, and rhythm plus live magic and humor.

I adore this CD! I think that Jesse Cook sounds much better live than in the studio. You can feel the soul of his work live! I hope he produces more live works like this one.

I had never heard of this guy. My wife likes flamenco music and he was in town, so we went. I LOVED their show. Never a missed note and tasty as anything. So, at intermission we bought this CD. We've listened to it over and over. Not disappointed at all. We've loved this recording nearly as much as the maravelous live show we caught. Jesse has a brand new fan.

I recommend this album for anyone who loves opera, contemporary, pop, and classical music. Although this album was made years ago when Charlotte was just 15, she has since released a hit pop album with a string of hits, had a baby and a hit T.V. variety show, she has recently stated that she's looking into acting again, and getting a role in an opera in the theater, releasing a new classical album, and a new pop album! This record is a great way to get ready for what Charlotte will be hitting us with next!

Many of the songs on this recording remind us of the little girl with the "voice of an angel." The unaccompanied beginning of "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" is reminiscent of the natural vocal beauty that first attracted attention. The selections like "Tonight," "Bali Hai," and "Somewhere" are fitting for her voice and remind us of the talent she possesses. And "The Prayer," with Josh Groban, is as delightful as when they first sang it.
The problems arise in music that is beyond the scope of her early age. The "Habanera" and "The Laughing Song" demand more than she had to offer at the time they were recorded.
Recent news releases indicate that she is now intending to return to her classical roots. Get those settled, Charlotte; then move into the bigger stuff.

I have been listening to this album for many years (since it came out), and I still love every song!

I am not an "opera" person. I just don't like the real stuff. Charlotte is admitably fudging a bit, but to her advantage. I don't think many people can listen to a recording of a real opera singer. Don't they sing to fill up an entire room. It sounds like screaming to me. However Charlotte has a very soft and very agreeable voice, especially since she ditched her back of the throat voice thing.

Obviously, this album was meticulously made. The first time I heard it, it had an "environment". It was a very relaxing place, especially Bali Hai. I really liked the way they arranged all of the pieces. Charlotte's voice sounds flawless, hitting the notes clear and high. It is an extremely accomplished album; a definate classic, and in my opinion, perfection.

This is one of my facorite CDs. The selection of songs is amazing. They are all "classical" songs that appeal to everyone. The flower duet is breath taking.

I really enjoy this cd and have played it over and over. I love all the songs, but the best ones are "The Flower Duet" (amazing) and "Papa can You Hear Me?".

I have been the proud owner of this dual CD since 1994, when my first car had only a tape deck and I had to use one of those goofy converters with my diskman to listen to CDs. I think I wore the poor thing out. I also own the original rock opera written and performed by The Who, but it doesn't get the playtime that the Cast Album does. Why not? Because the women in this recording are phenomenal! I love speeding down the road screaming/singing "Acid Queen".

I will have to be honest though... as a play, Tommy is a bit lacking. You have to admit that the plot is a bit strange and often the character's actions leave the viewer scratching their head. I watched the touring cast in the late 90's and still have my piece of the mirror that fell from the ceiling.

In all honesty though, the reason to buy this CD is entirely for the first disk. The first disk is brilliant, engaging, and won't leave your head for days. The second CD was always just "eh" in my mind. Granted "Smash the Mirror" was brilliant, but I tend not to put in a CD for a single song, so the second CD has only been played a handful of times. The first CD is worn beyond recognition.

This cast recording is not for everyone though, I have some friends who are musical theater purists, they turn up their nose at this recording almost as if it were blasphemy (electric guitars in the theater!) I also have several friends who are classic rock purists, they snarl at the site of the CD and declare that it should never have been made that I should burn it and replace it with my copy of The Who doing the songs. Sorry to both of you, but I love it and will continue listening to the first CD off of this album until it finally dies on me.

This version is so good. i loved the original album, But never liked the movie. i saw this version in new york and loved it. i download this strait to my ipod. the amazon mp3 service is pretty good and it was a quick download. disregard to the bad reviews they probably have never seen the show on Broadway

I was beginning to worry that I was getting to harsh in my reviews because I was saying the same things over and over, but Tommy broke me out of that. This is a great CD, musical lover or not. The music is fantastic. As in all operas (in any genre) themes repeat and Tommy has some repetitions, but not to many, and not annoyingly. The story is told out great through this CD. Although reading the synopsis helps visualize more, the lyrics and music really let the listener grip it all. A word on the lyrics, They aren't the greatest words ever written, but they're pretty good. And the singers on this CD give it so much life its unbelievable. I strongly suggest this CD to new musical fans, as well as collectors, it will please most audiences. Favorite Song: "I'm Free/Pinball Wizard (Reprise)"

Save your money and get the original WHO version of Townshend's masterpiece. I am a BIG fan of Pete Townshend but this CD is almost laughable: a pit band that tries to sound rock "heavy"; the overly slick production; every spect of the story is literally explained with lots of very unclever "hit the audience over the head" messages. Did the director really think us rock/theatre fans would like this? There is no subtext and everything is nauseatingly "on-the-nose" (e.g. the re-written "let's all get along" family ending almost makes me giggle, if it's not causing my stomache to turn.)

I LOVE this album!! I haven't listened to it in ages but upon listening to it again it brings the show back into my head. I can picture what takes place during each scene by listening to the music again. I saw the show when it toured through about 12 years ago. I LOVED the show and must've seen it close to 20x before it left the L.A. area. This show just rocks and was such a fun show to see too!! If you saw this show either on Broadway or touring this is a must have in your collection. I highly recommend it if you're a Who fan too!
