This is a fine compilation of hits from a great band, and truly epitomizes the term "greatest hits". This collection is just that...hits. If you are a fan of Journey, you'll love it. If you've heard one song on this collection, chances are you've heard them all. And if you haven't heard them, one listen and you'll be hooked.

Very nice collection. I bought it for my 27 yr. old and I am 58 and really enjoyed it.

Journey is one of the greatest bands to ever come out of the Bay Area and Neil Shoan has the greatest licks in the world.

While critics will debate forever the impact of Journey on the world of music, for us fans, there IS no debate...the band rocks and we love 'em and their music--for the most part--will be timeless. I've been in radio for the better part of 20 years now, and I cannot remember a time when I did not receive regular requests for Journey, both then and now. Why? I suppose every person must ask themselves why Journey *works* for you, but for me? I just love a song with a great hook, and Journey is definitely in no short supply of those.

I have noticed that even some Fans have been critical of why some songs were included why others were omitted...and for the most part, I agree--but we have to temper that with the fact that Journey more than likely had ZERO choice in which songs were included on this particular collection. However, whether or not your personal fav was left out or not, there is little doubt that the songs that ARE included, really are great. Personally my two all-time favorite Journey songs have Steve Perry singing back-up...and of course were NOT included.

If for any reason you want a more thorough Greatest Hits collection from Journey, I recommend purchasing their Time 3 Anthology...it represents the larger scope of Journey from before Steve joined to their all-time greatest hits, some a little less popular tracks as well as even some demo versions...all in all a more complete collection. Course, with that said, if you consider yourself a serious Journey fan, you really ought to buy their individual CD's and get the absolute FULL representation of all their hits as well as the more obscure, and sometimes truly magnificent songs that never saw any exposure on the radio (much to my dismay).

What else can i say about this album? Only that after listening to Journey's "Revelation" for a few days i went ahead and ordered "Escape" and "Frontiers" t shirts trough Amazon, i feel so proud of being a Journey fan, great comeback, powerful new voice and great music and lyrics

If it ain't Steve Perry (of whom they'd NEVER have become famous without to START with), it's just another Steve Perry Wanna-Be . Using the Title "Journey" with all of its beneficial "Steve Perry" connotations, and immitations is simply disrespectful, and tasteless. It's as simple as that. I hope Steve Perry has been getting a cut of every buck they've made while impostering him for all these years.

A few of my asian co-workers told me of a new american band that a favorite singer of theirs named Arnel Pineda had joined. They all bought tickets to see the show. What show, I ask? What band, I ask? Journey, they say. HUH?! That's not a new band, I say! It's one I grew up listening to! (Won't say how long ago, LOL~)
So I rushed out to buy Revelations, and now I'm hooked on Journey all over again. No, Pineda's not Perry. But Perry left the band, with no intention of returning. Steve Augeri and Jeff Scott Soto were great singers, but they lacked....something. Pineda has great vocal range and depth. You can detect a slight accent in some lyrics, but not enough to distract you. He belts out the old classics well, and adds his own touch to the new tracks. He somehow has recaptured the essence that is Journey. But what I like most about him? The guy's got heart. Buy this album, please! Let's support one of our favorite bands in history. Show them we didn't stop believing im them!

All that I can say about Journey "Revelation", is that Steve Perry should be honored. the vocals done by Arnel Pineda on this CD are outstanding. obviously, Arnel has studied Steve Perry. not only vocally but physically as well. he sounds and looks like him...
I bought this CD not knowing what to expect as I have bought other Journey CD's in the past during Steve's absences. this one however has amazed me. it took me back in time and if you close your eyes and listen, Steve all of the sudden appears. Excellent Job Arnel!. this man was Journey's best choice in a replacement vocalist. this CD is simply awesome...
I hope that Arnel decides to make his home a permanate one with Journey in the CD's to come.
Jonathan Cain is still the best around, the band sounds great. with "Revelation", they have themselves a true gem....

The only Journey music thet I ever purchased was back in 1974 or 1975, whenever the first album came out. I always liked them and enjoyed their many hits on the radio, but my musical tastes are vast, and although I have purchased thousands of LPs, tapes and CDs, not to mention downloads, I was always quite content to hear Steve Perry's voice on the airwaves for free since Journey always got a lot of heavy rotation on playlists. I used to grumble that I would probably have to hear this stuff for the rest of my f*#king life! I did love Steve Perry's voice though. For my ears, the new singer, superficially sounds a lot like Perry, but after closer listening, falls far short. He dosen't have the range, the stamina, or the ability to clip a note short when he should. The remakes were a giant mistake. The new stuff only alerted me to the fact that there was a new Journey album, so a friend burned me a copy. My apologies to the Walton family and to the struggling artists but I am grateful that I did not purchase this album! I think I will now order the greatest hits CD instead. For the record,I think that Don't Stop Believin is one of the all time best songs for rock vocals from any band. This new guy made it sound like mush!

4 stars given because there are actually a ton of hit included on this compilation. Disc 1 is very nearly perfect and I have no complaints with it but disc 2 has me scratching my head. A few songs are included for no good reason and some other, more popular and essential songs were left out. Again, for no good reason.

This set is not a bad deal for the price and isn't even a bad deal for disc 1 alone at the price. Still, it's hard to call something essential when it's missed the true essence.

Do yourself a favor. If you want to hear some great Journey, get their first three recordings. This is when Journey was at their best. This post Perry stuff, I'll admit is OK. They are catchy tunes if your into that light weight girly pop stuff.

I love Journey since Steve Perry joined them and no other singer can EVER take that mans place. NONE! His amazing vocals and stage savvy will never be forgotten. He did an amazing job on the Essential CD. Only wish for Steve to return someday and grace the microphone again. We all miss him and wish him well, but it would be a wonderful thing if he were to return.

so I ordered this 2 disc set and by all account it is very good classic and not so classic Journey. Here's my 1 and only major beef. Is it me or is disk 1 simply a copy of greatest hits? Now disk 2 I am very impressed with. The mixture is simply outstanding. And I am looking for someone who might have information on whether or not there are any other Journey DVD's out there. I have purchased the live in Houston, and the greatest hits sets. Extremely happy with both, but would like to find 1. more concert footage and 2. possibly a dvd set of more of their videos. Disk 1 is a veritable Greatest Hits Journey Album, containing most of the great ones, whereas with Disk 2 it's debatable as to whether all of the songs on it are "essential Journey" qualified (Line of Fire, Baby I'm a Leavin You? Uh, I question those selections). Songs arguably more "essential", like `Suzanne' and `Why Can't This Night Go On Forever' were left off. Nevertheless, Disk 2 is still a good one and has mostly worthy songs.

It's my opinion that two of the most significant factors that made Journey the world-class band it was in the 80s was the voice of Perry in singing some of rock's greatest ballads - Open Arms, Who's Cryin' Now, Send Her My Love, to name a few - and Journey's capability to write heart-felt lyrics for those ballads, lyrics that most anyone who has ever loved, or loved and lost, can listen and relate to.

I now realize that Journey's lyrics are timeless, their meanings changing only in their reference with life's experiences and advancing time, but never becoming outdated. Separate Ways (World's Apart) comes immediately to mind: those lyrics have much more relevance to me today then ever before, even after more than 20 years (True love won't desert you; You know I still love you; Though we touched and went our separate ways).

Then there's the classic among classics, the ballad that knows no equal - Faithfully. Only Journey and Perry can do that song justice; only Perry can provide the vocal power that's necessary to convey the emotion of the song. Faithfully is a song that will live with me forever; the memories linked directly to it are unforgetable. Years ago someone dear to me once asked which song I might choose should there ever be a chance to share a dance together. At the time I couldn't answer the question directly but today I answer that it would be Faithfully.

Journey could not have made a more perfect album when they launched Escape. Sonically superb and featuring the soaring Steve Perry - this release deserved more credit. Journey is often remembered as an 80s act in rock history, but this album broke new ground and set the band above its peers. The album succeeds remarkably - being able to veer instantly between adrenaline rockers and ballads - Perry being equally comfortable in either forte with Neil Schon and Jonathan Cain. Tight, tight, tight. Besides the obvious classics - Don't Stop Believing; Open Arms and Who's Crying Now - I really dig Stone in Love; Keep on Running; Lay It Down and Wanted Dead or Alive. Every song - except the title track ironically - works wonders for me. Great stuff. If Journey had only made one album and vanished - this would've been the one.

For many Journey's Escape album sums up the 1980's. The first album that featured Johnathan Cain on keyboards, and in my opinion Steve Perry's peak as a vocalist. The last of Journey's 1970's sound left with Gregg Rolie (Journey's original keyboardist, who is exceptional in his own right), and Escape is an album that for all intensive purposes should be considered a classic. From the rockers "Don't Stop Believin" and "Stone In Love" to the ballad "Open Arms;" this CD has enough power, emotion, and exceptional song writing that it could be considered a greatest hits on it's own merit. Perry's voice is authentic, rich and flawless. Neil's guitar work is right on the money as usual. Not to mention that Steve Smith, Johnathan Cain, and Ross Valory's contributions are without question perfect. This is a can't miss CD (and there arn't many of them out there). Pick it up, listen, and you will hear the best Pop Rock the 1980's had to offer...

Bottom Line: Can't miss classic Pop Rock Album.

An excellent CD which rightly belongs in the definitive 200 Hall of Fame record list. Should have been much higher on the list though. Has the great hits of Don't Stop Believin', Open Arms, Who's Crying Now. Other less popular but just as great tunes were Still They Ride, Stone in Love. Steve Perry's vocals on Mother, Father are extraordinary. Again, released in the collectible digipak with expanded booklets of tour dates and pictures. You won't be disappointed with this CD.

The selection of tracks on this cd are outstanding.Having 10 studio and 4 live recordings you get best from both worlds.Three of the live songs feature on the Live In Houston 1981 dvd which is great,they are Don't Stop Believin',Who's Crying Now and Open Arms.I wreckon the Escape album is a must have for any Journey fan.

I so fondly remember those days in the late 1970s and early 80s, when Journey burst onto the scene. And, I clearly remember 1981, when their album Escape came out and rocketed to #1 on the album charts. With such songs as Don't Stop Believin', Who's Crying Now, and Open Arms, it was practically the soundtrack of 1981!

Well, it's now back again! This CD is a reissue of the 1996 remastered album, plus 4 bonus tracks. La Raza Del Sol was on the b-side of the single "Still They Run," and the other three are from their November 6, 1981 concert in Houston. Also, check out the liner notes, which have some great pictures!

Overall, I think that this is a great album! It has that nice sound of Journey that you heard on the radio (the studio tracks), and some great live tracks. I love this album, and give it my highest recommendations!

The first time I heard Journey's Infinity, I knew it would be one of my favorites. Now, 30 years later, it is still one of my favorites. I was glad to find it available in CD form. There's just something I can't define about the music on this CD that lifts my spirit every time I listen to it.

I was 14 years old when this album was released. I went over to a friends house after school and through the door of his older brother's room was the sound of this voice. The voice was, Steve Perry's.
I was already building a pretty diverse record collection. I told my friend to hang on for a second and literally stopped in my tracks and knocked on his brother's door. He opened the door and said, "Hey, what's up?" I asked who it was that he was listening to. He said, "Journey." and showed me the cover. That friday night, I went to a local department store with my family and passed by the record section. There it was, "Infinity". With the best looking artwork on the rack. I pulled out my lone $10 dollar bill and bought the record. It was on sale for $5.98!. This purchase began a journey of my own. They were my favorite band from 1978 to 1983's "Frontiers". I bought their records. Went to their concerts on every tour and watched them develop and implode. I didn't know about terms like "corporate rock", or the pending homogenization of rock radio that was beginning to happen. I just knew that i liked their sound. Roy Thomas Baker produced the album's "Infinity" and "Evolution". His production style was a major force to why and how they became so hugely successful. Infinity is an album for the ages and for all ages. Personally, The best Steve Perry Era album, and one which I am listening to right now at the age of 44, as I write this.
It is one of the best rock album's made in the 70's. Waaaay beyond it's time. It had class and soul and groove. The band played great and I feel that if you like good melodic, well sung rock music this is an absolutely stellar recording. If you are into the "New wave" or "punk" generation from the same era. You won't dig this at all. It's not angst. It's beautifully played and arranged commercial rock music.
A masterpiece.
NOTE:I hadn't heard Journey before this record (or so I thought). Actually, my older brother had "Look Into The Future" and "Next" in his collection. The pre-Steve Perry Journey is a fantastic lineup and great, great music. It's this Journey without Steve Perry. But the great voices of Gregg Rolie (Santana's co-founder and singer of Black Magic Woman) and Neal Schon (a Guitar Prodigy and fine singer in his own right) . The Pre-Steve Journey holds it's own and deserves just as much attention from the record label and curious musician based fan.

Great classic rock, great Journey album. But it's not one of their best, and is better left for the hard-core Journey fan. There are a couple of great songs on this album, but you'll find them on the Greatest Hits collections.

Back in the late 70s, Pop-Rock bands like JOURNEY (i.e. STYX, KANSAS, REO Speedwagon) ruled the American Rock music layout. Powerful tunes with wonderful vocal Queen-esque works, awesome guitar riffs, keyboards and drums, as well as very good, mellow ballads were the standards in those days.
"Infinity" was one of the best musical products of that era. However, why to spoil so much an excellent album, reissuing it on an "ENHANCED" version...???? Hey... Try to play this CD on some older CD players (portable/car/home) and you'll have some problems... My suggestion: Try to get any good European (Germany-Holland-France), older 1990s reissue of this great Journey album, you will get equal outstanding sound quality, without the reproduction problems!!

Journey has been my favorite band since I was 12 years old. This CD is a classic. Steve Perry's voice sounds crisp and pure. Neal Schon's guitar playing is revolutionary for it's time, and Gregg Rolie is/was one of the best keyboardists from that era. You can still hear songs such as: Lights, Wheel In The Sky, and Patiently on the radio today. The only reason I gave this CD 4 stars and not 5 is that it is a little heavy on the ballads. Not that any of the ballads are bad; I just would have preferred to have had a little better mix on this CD. That aside, in my humble opinion this CD really is a must own in anyone's CD collection

Just came across with the remastered "Frontiers," and boy am I impressed. It sounds so much crisper, clearer are stonger here. And the two unreleased songs Liberty and Only Solutions are just hidden gems, plus you've got two more extras: Only the Young and Ask the Lonely in the same package! Are you kiddin' me!

Personally, I've favored Frontiers over fan favorite Escape, but haven't listened to the cd for a long time. Can't stop listening to the remastered version.

Not one of their best albums but I like anyway. I'm replacing all my "vinyls" with CDs.

This album, especially after the inclusion of the 4 bonus tracks for this edition, is one of the best of the 80's along with Journey's other smash hit "Escape". On most days I would agree with another reviewer's opinion of the one "bad" song on this disc "Back Talk". However, sometimes when I listen to it I can almost get to the end of the song before it drives me nuts. It sounds like Steve Perry was attempting to sing in a completely different style and even talking through some parts of it. In any case, this is an excellent album and I would recommend buying it to anyone who loves great music where you can actually understand the words. On a side note, I would also recommend buying all of Journey's albums rather than getting any of the compilation discs, especially after they reissued many of them with additional tracks. Why? Because, unlike some bands who rarely had anything besides singles on their albums worth listening to, just about everything Journey ever put on an album was great music if not necessarily being worthy of a top ten smash hit("Infinity, 1978" through "Trial By Fire, 1996" only).

This silver Grammy-winning classic is Journey's #1 album of their legacy. Frontman Steve Perry delivers his powerful vocals on the Top 20 hits SEPARATE WAYS,SEND HER MY LOVE and FAITHFULLY. The latter,composed by lead guitarist Jonathan Cain,is a popular favorite heard worldwide on various easy listening and adult comtemporary radio stations. This re-issue features several bonus tracks,one of them being ONLY THE YOUNG. OTY was obviously an outtake for the original 1983(US) track line-up,but was later saved to be featured in the 1985 film VISION QUEST. OTY appeared on the soundtrack album and debuted on the radio in January 1985(in the US). OTY was recycled for the 1988 GREATEST HITS compilation. After this album,the band,with the exception of Perry,took a break from recording. In 1984,Perry put out his solo debut STREET TALK,another Grammy-winner. During the recording break,the band began writing songs for 1986's RAISED ON RADIO.

Definitely one of their best albums, classic Journey. Is it better than "Escape", though? That's hard to judge, but I'd have to put Escape as 1, and Frontiers as 2. Lots of depth here.

I too, was not a big Journey fan during the times they dominated the charts. However, as one other put it, they were enscribed into my memory during these times and have now become a cherished part of my memories. It seemed that no matter where you were, there was a Journey song playing on the radio at some point. I have fully come to appreciate their contribution to our culture and salute their music for standing the test of time and lived on to become timeless classics. Their songs still live on today at teen parties when it comes time to slow dance. This generation is starved for smoothing music in the mind jarring rap laced musical culture they exist in today. It's good to hear the time honored classics.

If you are a Journey fan, you will love this cd. I wont nit pick it to death like some reviewers do..this is just about music, and music is there to soothe the soul..Im not going to sit here and pretend to work for Rolling Stone or anything..I'll leave that to the dorky wanna bes..
Journey's music is great, the cds..all of them are awesome..if it doesnt have the song you want, find the cd that does and buy it..end of story.

Once Steve Perry joined Journey for the "Infinity" album, the band's course was inevitably reset. They changed direction from being a progressive rock band to an arena rock juggernaut. Perry's main contribution was a strong melodic sense coupled to his more soulful vocals. The hits started almost immediately, as "Lights" and "Wheel In The Sky" became FM Rock Radio staples.

That is what this greatest hits focuses on, the songs that became the standards by which the public remembers the band. If you were interested in the albums BEFORE "Infinity," I suggest "Time 3," which adds material from the years when Neal Schon was still aping his jazz-Rock tenure with Santana and Gregg Rollie was doing standard rock keyboard boogie. Personally, I liked them better when Perry got on board. The sound focused and the songwriting tightened. Songs like "Separate Ways/Worlds Apart" and "Any Way You Want It" could add a jolt of adrenaline to a day of radio. When Jonathan Cain replaced Gregg Rollie on "Escape," Journey took on a romantic bent from Cain's songwriting. "Open Arms" came first, then "Faithfully" (on "Frontiers") solidified it. These were pop radio songs without peer, and they make Journey's "Greatest Hits" an essential document of 70's and 80's radio rock. (The updated "Greatest Hits" includes the best song from the 90's reunion "Trial by Fire," "When You Love A Woman.")

The other reason you might be looking at this is not because of Steve Perry's voice or Neal Schon's guitar heroics, but because of Tony and Carmella. It was Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" that echoed out of the final minutes of "The Sopranos" closing episode. It was funny that Tony passed over Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra for Journey and inspire a million parodies in the process. (Including Hilary Clinton...where the best moment is when she and President Bill Clinton are flipping through songs and Bill says "My money's on Smash Mouth...") Talk about cementing your place in pop culture...who could have asked for better?

This best of offers a pair of soundtrack rarities in "Only The Young" (from "Vision Quest") and "Ask The Lonely" (from "Two of a Kind"). Missing are a few crucial singles like "Suzanne," "Stone In Love" and "Walks Like A Lady." If you really want them, go for the box sets or individual CD's.

If you hear the name Journey you know it is going to be good.

I picked this album up to listen to some old favorites from time to time. I grew up with this music on the radio, and "Don't Stop Believin'", "Faithfully", "Any Way You Want It", "Separate Ways", and "Open Arms" are thereby a part of my blood...whether or not I want that. I'm a sentimentalist, I guess.

Growing up in the Bay Area in the 70's, like other reviewers, I was familiar with Journey's older material from the get-go, and because of that, I have never embraced their later material. It just sounds too bubble-gum. I never saw them in concert, but their stuff was played all over the place (parties, etc.).

I have all three of their early stuff on LPs and CDs, and one of my favorite things to do is play them for people who have never heard them before.

You play the CD, and they always say they've never heard it before, but they like it!

What I don't understand is why this stuff never gets any airplay on so-called "classic rock" stations. I'm sure that listeners wouldn't mind.

If you like progressive or fusion, or even just good old rock and roll, you will like "Journey" (as well as "Look Into The Future" and "Next"), and you will be astounded at how different it sounds from the "Perry Era" material.

The musicianship on the earlier albums is much more pronounced than on the later ones. Many of the songs start out slow and finish with a mind-scrambling instrumental jam. In fact this album has two instrumental tracks on it (Kohoutek and Topaz).

Buy this album, and the other two as well, and you will not be disappointed.

Journey's self-titled debut, and the two follow-ups before the band added vocalist Steve Perry and went mainstream, shows a band with roots in artists as diverse as Leon Russell, Santana, Joe Cocker, the Allman Brothers Band, Steely Dan, the Grateful Dead, Genesis, the James Gang, the Meters, Little Feat, Booker T. & the MGs, Humble Pie, Yes, the Marshall Tucker Band, Traffic, Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago, Rare Earth, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. These songs blend jazz-rock fusion, blues-rock, R&B, hard rock, and progressive rock in a totally unique way that will always sound fresher than the later hit-period albums. Buy this CD along with LOOK INTO THE FUTURE and NEXT, and you won't be disappointed.

In 1973, I think it was, Journey came to Hawaii and performed at a local "Battle of the Bands" contest in a tiny venue called Andrews Amphitheater. I was there and I will never ever forget that night as long as I live.

They did this on purpose to test out the material for this album on a small audience. They had not yet released the album and nobody had ever even heard of these guys. They came on last, at about 8:00 in the evening, after a day of mediocre local garage bands dueled it out.

What happened then was beyond any superlatives I can think of. I cannot begin to described the state of utter awe and amazement that struck everyone there that night. It goes without saying they blew all the local bands who had played that day off the stage; they then blew everybody in the audience completely away, everybody listening outside who didn't buy a ticket, as well as all the passersby who didn't even know what was going on.

I was close to the stage, and after they were done, I shouted to Neil "Hey, how making an album!" and he smiled and replied "Iya, or two or three, hopefully!" Fateful words indeed.

Here, now, in 2008, that night remains the single most memorable magical musical experience I have ever had. If any of you Amazon readers were also there, chime in, I'd like to hear from you.

What a pity they went off in their pop direction, and ruined what could have been one of the greatest bands of all time.

Wow. After purchasing Time 3 back in the nineties and hearing the stuff Journey did pre-Perry, I was curious enough to go out and buy the cassette versions (remember those?) of Journey's self-titled album, Look Into The Future, and Next. The self-titled debut featured George Tickner on rhythm guitar, and was different from anything I had ever heard the AOL-friendly Journey do. Nothing came close to this tight powerhouse playing, and before long I had worn my copy of the self-titled album out from too many plays. Kohoutek and Topaz are instrumental numbers where fire sizzles out of Neal Schon's pickups. Ross Valory and Aynsley Dunbar provide a rock-solid rhythm section, and Gregg Rolie shines on his vocal tracks, as well as providing some nicely placed Hammond B3 or Fender Rhodes piano. Not your mama's Journey!

For those of you familiar with the Steve Perry version of Journey only (which means, 90% of you) Journey's first album will come as a complete shock upon first listen, I bet. This album is mostly centered around extremely heavy guitar soloing, delicate instrumental bits, and heavy guitar riffs and catchy choruses. Sometimes the guitar riffs can be as heavy as Black Sabbath, and some of the guitar soloing seriously borders on extreme (Mahavishnu Orchestra-like extreme). "Kohoutek" and "Topaz" are must hear songs for anyone who's curious about the early bands sound and style. MUCH different from the radio hits you've been exposed to. A really fantastic listen and a must own.

Fantastic music as always -- a great example of the stylistic shifting between late 70s and early-to-mid 80s Journey. Glorious work by all members, and sadly the last we hear of Rolie and Dunbar with this band. Perry's vocals are brilliant as usual -- champagne-clear and eerily spotless before his voice began to develop more of a texture through hard use.

Fantastic music to listen to closely; it's easy to think of anything off the pop charts as suitable for background listening, but I strongly recommend putting in the earphones, leaning back, and really listening with all attention to this album. It merits it.

DEPARTURE, Journey's third album with Steve Perry on vocals, keeps the ball rolling in the right direction. It opens with a hot rocker, "Any Way You Want It", slacks off for a few songs, and then picks up the pace with "Precious Time" and never gives up, especially on "Where Were You." The fact that past and present Journey members advocate sanctions against Indonesia in retaliation for that country's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist, as well as increased funding for law enforcement, makes DEPARTURE an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

This would be Journey's last album before Steve Perry came aboard.Not to put Steve Perry down but I liked Journey better without him.

The final of 3 before the Perry era comes in.There is a little more vocals but still the rock foundation is evident.Another good choice for music and collection.

LOOK INTO THE FUTURE, Journey's second album, is totally wonderful. Blending such influences as Rare Earth, Santana, Joe Cocker, the Allman Brothers Band, Steely Dan, the Grateful Dead, Traffic, the James Gang, Genesis, Leon Russell, Return To Forever, Humble Pie, Chicago, Little Feat, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Grand Funk Railroad, Yes, Led Zeppelin, the Buffalo Springfield, and the Marshall Tucker Band, Journey once again breaks boundaries and creates progressive hard blues-rock with jazz and R&B twists. The only minus here is a cover of the Beatles' "It's All Too Much." Buy this album, the self-titled debut, and NEXT, and you won't be disappointed.

It's amazing just how different the first few Journey albums are compared to the popular stuff. Look Into the Future has some very good songwriting moments that will surprise and delight just about anyone who's a fan of mid 70's rock.

The title song has some Robin Trower-like dreamy guitar playing, and soulful vocals as well. What a masterpiece! I think most people would like this song a lot. The album also points the way to the commercial pop band Journey would soon become with some catchy tunes on the first side. I really like this album and recommend it to everyone.
