a classic from that golden age. mr. matthew does not understand that back then, simplicity mixed with that raw vibe and unique production was the key. BECAUSE I GOT IT LIKE THAT, the title cut, BEHIND THE BUSH, ON THE RUN (lovely use of the jimmy castor bunch), BRAGGIN AND BOASTIN, BLACK IS BLACK, WHAT'S GOIN' ON (nice use of prince at the end there), and I'M GONNA DO YA.................how can one deny the head noddin' addictiveness of these songs? ESSENTIAL!!!!

matthew is either crazy or he is just too young to remember the days of 1988. 9 out of 10 albums released from anybody between 1987 and 1989 were dope because labels and more importantly the listeners would not let you release garbage like they do today. straight out the jungle is dope. i like done by the forces of nature better, but i always had my SOTJ handy. come on , this contained the promo, the first time anybody outside of nyc heard q-tip rhyme. that song was the reason why people were anxious for instinctive travels so much back on that first teusday in april of 1989.

This is easily one of the 10 best Hip Hop albums of all time.

This is a landmark hip hop album...The JBeez came through on this album and cooked up a classic...They made "jimbrowski" a household name amongst many other phrases....

The JB's took a different approach to hip hop of their time...This album is completely innovative and original..I'd highly recommend it to any fan of old school rap , or a young cat trying to get schooled on classic hip hop...

Now this album is for REAL hip hop headz, older catz who really know hip hop. This is classic material for 30 somehting New Yorkers, it was when New York was at an all time creative high in Hip Hop cop it for a history lesson THE JB"S THE JB"S

Afrika Bambaataa had a profound influence on so many great groups. Tribe Called Quest and DeLa Soul get the most credit but there are many other native tongue visionaries. Years later this is the kind of album that I wish people paid attention too over fake gangsters and prepackaged beefs. Ignore that nonsense and enjoy smart lyrics and tight beats.

If you like any Tribe albums, De La Soul, Blacksheep, Blackalicious, Jurrasic 5, and so on. This album by the JB's starts all that style in my opinion. This was back when sampling loops still was legal but this album was digging in some deep crates. It would be nice to hear it remastered but you got to appreciate the lo fi quality especially in the boom bap parts. Back when I first heard it honestly I didn't know what to make of it, there were some songs here and there I liked but it was still very different for my taste. Years later I started peeping it again and it made much more sense to me. Its like listening to any Kenny G album and then checking out some John Coltrane you might get lost. Pick up a copy check it out then wait and check it again , I think you'll dig it.

now this album i cannot get a fix on. for some reason, i become lost when i listen to it. it does not have the ooomph of the first one. however, there are still some great joints on here. i would rather nod my head to this on a stranded island than go to sleep and probably drown trying to "walk it out". seasons change i guess. still, the jbs got off on this.

One of my homies from the 10th grade slipped me this tape back in 89. Now these brothers were definitely alternative rap, but still dope. I will say that they were the least accessible of the Native Tongues crew. I would call them the Afrocentric Run DMC. Anyways, my favorite cuts are Black Woman ( Loved the ode to the Black Woman), Days to Come, Doin Our Own Thing( Monie Love and De La rocked it), What U Waitin 4 and Belly Dancin Dina.
I think 50 Cent's manager Chris Lighty was part of the JB's -They called him Baby Chris. This group paved the way for groups like Arrested Development.

Yeah, Jungle Brothers put together a classic hip hop album with 'Done By the Forces of Nature'....I love this album still after so many years...To me, its one of the most accessible "old-school" hip hop albums ever....

THe beats are all on point...My fav track is "u make me sweat" --its a very upbeat track w/ bounce....The lyrics are all on point....Topics range from adolescent love, lust, girls, afrocentricity, love of thyself, family, culture, politics, and just straight up partying.....They approach every topic head on in a very creative way....

My two fav tracks are "belly dancin dina" and "u make me sweat"...Pick up this album, and you gota piece of hip hop history...

Totally experimental. Beats change smoothly. Bridges go on too long in a good way and become vamps. Choruses come in at odd moments. A couple songs at the end are sick freestyle. There are great soul moments, funk moments, reverb/echo moments, turntablist moments, and even pure noise moments. Check out unprecedented "Spittin Wicked Randomness" and "Jimmy Weighs a Ton." This is genius stuff for sure.

this album make mi the same effect when I heard the second album of DIVINE STYLER spirr..1992.The direction that take JUNGLE BROTHERS in year 1993 was a surprise but it function I think it's the more underground album of JB's and the strangest for the hears electro sound very speed this is an old school def jux also if you love this style tcheck releasing hypnotical gaces of ORGANIZED KONFUSION

this is one of the weirdest and most experimental rap albums made in the early 90's. J. Beez Wit The Remedy is a bold and daring record that was way ahead of it's time and no doubt left many mainstream hip hop fans (and many Jungle Brothers fans) scratching their heads in confusion. this incarnation of Jungle Brothers featured the insane hip hop artist Sensational in their ranks and that might explain some of the less than common styles represented here. the production of tracks like "Spittin Wicked Randomness" and "For The Headz At Company Z" seem to hint at appreciation of experimental industrial music and contain a very hallucinagenic affect. it sounds like De La Soul got trapped inside a nuclear chemical plant. a very underrated and underheard album.

J. Beez Wit the Remedy is an incredibly interesting mosiac of samples, ryhmes, and styles. This record was originally produced by Bill Laswell, however the initial recordings were so experimental and off-kilter that Warner Brothers felt the need to re-record some of the tracks. I have heard some of the unreleased recordings on the 10" 'Crazy Wisdom Masters' which is totally sick, but this final version of the record is still amazing. Brooklyn MC, Sensational, even appears on the record under his original moniker, Torture. This is one of the most entertaining records I have ever heard...even though it is missing some of the orginal tracks.

this is the best cd by the j beez, so underrated

Beez albums are. While listening to these discs one things stands out in my mind how come there isn't a nice crisp clear re-master of either "Straight out the Jungle" or "Done by the forces of Nature"? Alot of old school classics should be sonically upgraded. In any case this colection shows that the J. Beez went in a really fun dance oriented direction which is a good thing. It does make me wish for a deluxe double disc re-issue of their first two albums. I mean if Weezer and Lynnrd Skynnrd rate why not the Jungle Brothers?

This is a Jungle Brothers classic through and through! Brings back all those bassment party memories in the late 80's

This album is very underrated and slept on.
The Native Tongues posse cut, "How You Want It We Got It" is a must have.
It's not as incredible as "Done By The Forces Of Nature", which is a five star classic.
It's not as daring or original as "....Remedy", but it's a more consistent, entertaining listen than "...Remedy" in my opinion.
A solid record from start to finish.
If you're a Native Tongues fan, just get it.

This album never gets old, if your were born in the 80's like me this will be your favorite Jungle Brothers album simply because the sound on the other albums is just too dated & this sounds more modern, even though it's ten plus years old the beats stand the test of time plus the lyrics are just dope on the "Political" & "State of the Black Man" tip, I have to admire progressive thinking. If you love De La Soul's "Stakes Is High" you'll love this album. It's a must have for any Native Tongue fan or even todays Justus League fans alike. "You Don't Know where u going, if u don't where u came from" So copped this wonderful album by the JB's, because w/o there'd be no "The Listening"- by Little Brother.

it lacks luster, but it still bumps in its own way. to me, it was the last good one though. i think that the jbs should continue to create original tracks instead of trying to do the radio friendly fluff stuff. though it does seem like they had to grunt a lil bit to get into this one, they did it enough to win me over..............i do not know about you. check it out though.

Do not be put off by the reviews & criticism, this is not a disapointment nor is it a lackluster peformance from the legendary JBeez. I'm sick of people comparing it to "Straight out the jungle" and earlier releases, that was almost 10 years before this!! They have evolved!
The sound on "Raw Deluxe" is essentially a much more laid-back, smooth vibe with the captivating production and easy-to-follow lyrics. If anything it is actually more satisfying and well-rounded than "straight out the jungle" as the low quality recording made SOTJ at some points, very un-enjoyable to listen to. Similarly, although respected legends, it was evident that both Afrika and Mike G were nothing special lyrically back in 1988, they were just consistent, and there is no difference here. The lyrics are smooth and full of flava that compliment the beats perfectly, just how it should be. Hip Hop legends De La Soul & Q Tip (Tribe Called Quest) drop by for one of the album's best tracks "How ya want it we got it".
With the beats being handled by the JBeez, Djinji Brown, The Roots, RocRaider & Stereo Mc's it has to be said that the production is the highlight here. As said, laid back - smooth vibes is what your mental will endure with "raw deluxe", straight consistency. Don't hesitate to PICK THIS UP if you are a fan of the JBeez, 90's Hiphop and underground hiphop alike. PEACE!

The legendary JBs just chose to rock a bare-boned ,minimalist but very well put together stilo this time around(1997) and it works. The combative bassline on Toe to Toe and the neo-soul flavor on Changes show that Mike, Sammy, and Afrika have slowed down but they still swingin!

I've heard bad reviews on this album and believe that it was completely unfair. People all to often claim that old school groups "sold out" (i.e. De La Soul, LL Cool J, etc..). Without a doubt this album is VERY different from the old school JB's. But listen carefully and ask yourself, "Does it lack the playful style reminicent of original hip-hop? Is it carefree? are the underlying messages the same?" Modern listeners (people who haven't listened to Gangstarr, Slick Rick, Special Ed and BYTW if you haven't then educate yourself) have their heads so far up their rear ends that they are ignorate of the roots and fundamentals of hip-hop. Hip-hop is all about progression and some people flip out if it's not directly in line with modern day rappers like Method Man and Jay-Z. JB's may not be "popping chris" or "busting gats" but they do know how to throw a jam for the summer and thats what it is all about. I mean who's to tell the JB's that they don't know hip-hop? So don't sleep on it. It's got a dance hall and house feel, and some tracks could have used a little more work but give it a listen I think it's worth your while.

When I heard Alex Gifford of the Propellerheads was producing the Jungle Brothers next album, I was excited. I loved Decksandrumsandrockandroll by the Propellerheads and their collaboration with the JB's ("You Want It Back") was classic. When I finished listening to V.I.P., I was pleased and a little disappointed.

Alex does provide many nice and hype beats on the album, but some were a little lackluster. Some of the songs seemed to lack that kick that was present of the Propellerheads album. Also, the JB's ruined some tracks ("Playing For Keeps") by singing. Sorry, but the JB's just can't sing. The majority of the tracks are great with my favorites being the title track, "J. Beez Rock The Dancehall", "Strictly Dedicated", and "Down With The JB's", a posse cut featuring Sense Live, Black Eyed Peas, and Alex Gifford himself on the rhymes.

Overall, V.I.P. is still a good Jungle Brothers album even though it is nowhere near Straight Out The Jungle or Done By The Forces Of Nature. If you liked the Propellerheads album, you should enjoy much of this material.

Bumping beats, wonderfully lame rhymes, obscure, hilarious, and weird samples all come together to make this the one CD that should be spinning in the CD player at every party from coast to coast this summer. The Brothers totally succumb to their dance floor jones on this disc. They've obviously retreated to some alternate reality where someone is always warming up the hot tub and tapping another keg. The tracks are solid, technically stunning triumphs of style over substance... which in this case, is just fine. It sets out to be the ultimate good time disc, and in this capacity succeeds wildly. There's not a ton of depth in an absolute sense, but it's deep as far as party records go... it's a great all-ages, all races, all-world, hip-hop hybrid blast. Don't miss this one.

I don't get it...I loved everyone of the Jungle Brothers records before this one. I don't now what happened they sound like Smash Mouth. When Raw Deluxe came out I loved it, this new album has stupid rediculous lyrics and odd sounds. Its not even Hip Hop, its like horrible dance/pop/drum n bass stuff. I lost all respect for the jb's I acually thought I could trust them. Tribe broke up now De La Soul's new album is my last resort. I thought The Native Touges would never die!
