The shipment charge is always too expensive for those who live outside the US, like me.
I would purchase a bunch of products from you if the prices of freights should be better.

When they use the phrase Kitaro I think New Age. He truly expresses the beginning of this music genre in all the pieces here. Well done K.

I did not find that I enjoyed it as much as Pure Moods, Vol. I

Pure Moods Vol I, I think is still the best

Anyone who's actually reading an online review of a Pure Moods album has to be, in my most humble of opinions, an established fan of the franchise, and I'm no exception: I LOVE Pure Moods. I have all 5 installments and Christmas Moods.

But on Pure Moods III, there is one song that simply does not belong: "Silk Road" by Kitaro. That has to be the most annoying, shrill, plodding sequence of sounds I've ever come across. I only listen to that track about 33% of the time. (I sporadically listen to it, just to see if I can hear it differently that time.) I would like to make a burn of this CD that does not contain that song.

Everything else rocks my socks.

Buy Pure Moods.

If you are looking for meditation or tranquility from daily stress I recommend not only this CD, but the entire collection. I have all the Pure Moods collection and keep buying more New Age music. I feel I've invested my money in good music. I listen to pretty much anything from soft music, Rock, Salsa, Calypso to Dance-Techno music, but when I don't feel like listening to loud music, I listen to these CD collection, specially on a Sunday to reconnect with relaxation to start another heavy woking week. Also, if you like gospel, I'm sure you'll love these even though is not quite gospel music. You just reconnect yourself spiritually in this material world.

Pure Moods volume 3 is probably the second best in the series after the original Pure Moods. With mainstays such as Yanni and Enigma how can you go wrong? Powerful tracks like "Deliver Me" from Sarah Brightman and Peter Gabriel's "Games without Frontiers" highlight this release. As with the rest of the Pure Moods series this is very good and worthy of repeat listenings. Other great CD's include Imogen Heap, any Digital Moodz CD and Enigma's 1st CD or LSD.

Pure Moods: Vol. 3 is one of my favorite New Age CDs, which is such beautiful mix of sublime music from various artists. Suprisingly, the CD both energizes and calms.

Games Without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel has such a satisfying, mellow groove, yet it seems to take the spirit straight to higher plains. It's not only ear candy, but enhances altered states of consciousness.

On Sacred Ground is one of my favorite Yanni songs, and it's on here, too! All I can say is "major goosebumps." It's like being in the Universal Cathedral of Spirit and having God sing to you.

Diva Sarah Brightman adds her smooth soprano voice to the track called Deliver Me. It has a pop groove, but weaved into the background is the etheric keyboards that gives it that flavor that appeals to both the ear and the spirit. When I listen to this song, I feel my heart chakra just blow wide open, receiving the love that the Universe provides in abundance.

Dela Dela by Sacred Spirit starts off with a deep flute reminiscent of a Native American ceremony. Although a pop beat ensues, the song is still undergirded by the strings, which makes it feel orchestral, but very tribal. The tribal aspects is punctuated by what sounds like Native American chanting, but then the female lead takes over once again. It's a song that penetrates, daring you to look away...but you just can't. Then it segues back into the strings, which sucks you right back in to the groove.

The only song I'm not particularly crazy about is Enya's Only If; it's a good song, but so much of Enya's music is overplayed, especially for movie trailers and soundtracks.

This CD contains Christofori's Dream (the 1988 piano masterpiece) as well as songs by Moby, Brian Eno, Enigma, and others, for a total of 16 songs.

Anyone who enjoys the works of Kitaro will enjoy this album which covers the spectrum of his output.

For a prolific and good composer like Kitaro, it may be difficult to provide a nice compliation that can satisfy everyone. But this one does a pretty good job on selection of tracks. However, the CDs seem to be a bit "short" - time-wise, and I am a bit upset about having to pay a 2 CD price and then get a 1.5 CD worth music. Granted, the selections will be to the liking of all Kitaro and most New age fans...a little bit of repitition in tunes and arrangements, but nothing annoying. Good CDs, not classic. Between this and Mozart/Bach, pick the latter.

I have always had a problem with the term new age as it applies to music. It encompasses artists like William Ackerman, George Winston, Ray Lynch, Enya and of course Japanese synthesizer player Kitaro. What do these artists have in common? For me it's the otherworldy quality of their music. It's music that conveys a sense of peace and calm--an almost spiritual quality. The music on these two discs are the soundtrack to the happiest days of your life. Listen and enjoy. [My only complaint is that both discs clock in at under fifty minutes.] RECOMMENDED

If music like this could be heard by more people around the world, there would be less spiritual void in the hearts of us all. This type of musical and spiritual fulfillment could bring many people part of the self awareness we all need to live a more peaceful, understanding, sharing, and a less destructive, materalistic life.

Unfortunately, the sound clips provided here on-line do not indicate that Kitaro will be both annoyingly repetitious and pretty much stuck in the upper registers of human hearing, almost completely ignoring what we call "bass." I was very much disappointed, having been permanently separated from my money. Perhaps I can trade it at a local pawn shop...

The CD was missing music, like it was a pirated copy, and part of the missing music was the most sought after music from Kitaro. I own an original CD of the Silk Road CD's and wanted an extra copy of the first side, but the missing music was a shock. I had never ever had this experience before with music ordered from Amazon.

Silk Road by Kitaro is an excellent CD. The music is soothing, relaxing, and delightful. He is truly a master! I hope to purchase more of his CDs.

When Silk road came on TV I was In High-School. After seeing the first episode I was already fascinated by the music that complimented the amazing photogaphy flawlessly. I had never before heard of Kitaro, but by the time the series finished I owned volumes 1 and 2 (on vinyl Lp's).

Kitaro's work over the years had ups and downs. The entire Silk Road albums (all 4 of them) are among his best music ever. The theme melody is explored in subtle re-interpretations throughout all the albums. The mood changes with the geographical imagery that it is associated with, and does so in a profound and subtle way. It showcases Kitaro's excellent compositional skills.This music is evocative, diverse and soothing. It has none (or very few) moments of sickly sweet new-age overtones that have plagued many of his later work. Instead it is very well tempered throughut. Silk Road 1 features the wonderful title track of the series. But all four albums are up to the same level of musical excellence, yet each has a unique and very different feel.

After over a decade this is one set of Kitaro albums that I still play a lot. The other one is KI. If you only ever plan to get one Kitaro album, Silk Road 1 is probably THE one to get. It is truly beautiful and timeless music.

Silk Road (1&2) by Kitaro remains, to me, his best recorded work and with a genius like Kitaro that's saying something.
The liquid tones are transcendental and carry the listener into a peaceful, other-worldly realm, perfect for meditating or just relaxing.
The sound quality on this digital remaster is excellent.
To get the full experience, the listener should have both volumes 1 and 2.

I absolutely loved the CD Peace on Earth. One of my all time favorite holiday CD's in fact. However, none of the other reviews gave the whole picture of what I was getting.
I was quite surprised when I first watched the DVD and realized there would be no performance footage. There were some really nice still shots of footage that appeared to be Colorado "ish" in the winter time. Somehow, this really should have been mentioned. Also I admit to be disappointed that Great Spirit was not included in this collection.
I still love the music, but this DVD is basically a "video fireplace" to have on the big screen during the holiday season. I still give it 4 stars becuse it is the best of its kind. I got this DVD on Amazon marketplace for $7.20. Had I paid full price, I probably wouldn't have been as generous with the number of stars.

Only kitaro can play and compose beutiful music like this,very relaxing and peaceful.releases all your tensions in your body and helps you to relax.

I mean, as such. Look, a lot of electronic, instrumental prog, "space" music--what evurrr!--artists got lumped into this New Age category once the term was invented. Veteran artists like Vangelis and Kitaro, for example. It was a convenient way to pigeonhole them so that people knew what you were talking about--I did it, you did it, we all did it, right? The trouble was that it got them associated with the spiritual kitsch of New Age, a form of philosophical repudiation of the "stress" of the world, along with a mistrust of religion to help the soul. So a whole bunch of Christians, Jews and Muslims decided that the messed-up way their brethren approached the issue of the spiritual meant their faiths themselves were no longer valid. Geez, Islam has these fundamentalist extremists, Christianity has the Klan and David Koresh, yadda-yadda. Errnngh! Wrong answer. But hey, don't get me started. And when it comes to music, both Vangelis and Kitaro got their starts in early prog bands in their native lands, and decided that a look outside their native cultures would help them in a creative sense. They made that decision as musicians, hear what I'm saying? If Kitaro has always seemed "other-worldly" to the Westerner in the themes he uses, that's because he's Japanese, okay? On his other albums, listen to those synth lines and picture them done on shamisen or koto. And that cultural flavoring comes through on this Christmas album. Behind the signature Kitaro phrasing, these Holiday classics are basically played straight, as composed. That's not so unusual--look at the Harry Simeone treatment of "Little Drummer Boy" as contrasted with two different versions of it by Johnny Mathis. And now we have one by Kitaro. And there's an international flavor to this album overall. Kitaro reminds us of one thing we've forgotten--that our Holiday favorites are of diverse national origins. And he underscores that by organizing an international children's choir to do the vocals. It wouldn't be too shabby an idea for him to re-do this as a TV special the way he did with "One Enchanted Evening"--that one was a huge PBS hit. And that, my friends, is how a so-called "New Age" artist can do a Christmas album. He does it as a musician, not a philosophical zealot.

I really enjoyed this one by Kitaro. The interesting style all his own mixed with the traditional Christmas hymns all together makes for one beautiful album. Kitaro is a man with an unusual talent, and it is so cool to relax to the soothing sounds of Christmas music.Especially KITARO style.

This music is very beautiful and it sometimes has an epic feel to it, but I am not a big Kitaro fan. If you want great music with an Asian style feel to it, check out Himekami Moonwater/Snow Goddess and Mai Eri Sugai.

Released in 1994, "Mandala" is one of the finest overall release from Japanese synthesist/composer/multi-instrumentalist Kitaro - and this is quite a compliment for an artist with such an impressive catalog! To give a bit of historical perspective; this album appeared a few years after the acclaimed release of Kitaro's majestic, orchestral concept work "Kojiki", a sentimental favorite of "new age music" fans, and certainly a hard act to follow! With "Mandala", Kitaro seemed to find inspiration by blending some new, exciting, and exotic sounds into his music (sitar, Native American flute, Oriental horns, etc.) while still holding on to those familiar synthesizer sounds that make him so distinctive as an artist. There is also more of an emphasis on electric guitars here, and Kitaro (who played most of the instuments himself) shows himself to be quite a gifted axe man. The album, as a whole, flows well from track to track, and there is a bit more musical diversity than is usally found on Kitaro's albums. The opening title track ("Mandala") begins with with a spacy, Pink Floyd-ish guitar/synth intro, then builds into a booming classical melody. There is also a bit of a Floyd-ian vibe on "Chant From the Heart", perhaps the closest that Kitaro has come to an out and out prog-rock tune (and stangely enough, for a song with "Chant" in its title, the actual vocal chanting is so submilinal that you may miss it enless you listen with a good set of headphones.) "Dance of Sarasvati" begins with a joyful vibe, then evolves into a more mysical groove with some strong middle eastern influences...then unepectedly evolves back to it's original theme! "Planet" is a short, gentle piece with classical overtones. "Crystal Tears" and "Scope" are both in the tradition of Kitaro's more atmpospheric compositions (the former featuring a great Tangerine Dream-inspired sequencer backdrop.) One of Kitaro's more unusual compositions, "Winds of Youth", begins in seeming chaos, then slowly evolves into into an tightly-structred piece fueled by some nice acoustic sounds (interestingly, the live version found on "An Enchanted Evening" bears little resemblance to the original recording found here.) But for me it is the album closer "Kokoro" that steals the show here. This is truly one of the most haunting melodies that Kitaro has ever crafted, and the intricate arrangement here (blending layers of wailing guitars, mellow synths, and orchestral percussion) simply swells with emotion! All in all, if you love Kitaro, new age music, or even some "world music" flavors, you can't go too far wrong with this one.

Although I think Kitaro relies on his electric guitar a little too much ~~~ it is still a very good album. The Dance of Saravati is indeed very good. But Planet and Winds of Youth are just breathtakingly superb! Planet is soft and melodic (Kitaro's composing at its best) whereas Winds of Youth is just solid and invigorating.

One of my international (japanese) exchange students brought this CD to me as a gift. I had never heard of this artist before, and it took me a while to actually get around to listening to it. Now that I did, I can say it is a very pleasant composition, albeit nothing overwhelming or emotionally churning. I could well imagine giving it to my massage therapist so that she may play it while relaxing all my achy muscles. So, you might want to lie down, close your eyes and drift off into a dream of your own... or maybe into dreaming the story of creation of Japan, which is the underlying inspiration for this composition.
On a side note, I do not quite get it how there are arab voices to be heard on piece # 11 or 12, not sure whether it was the end of one or the beginning of the next... and oh yes, on piece # 13 and 14, I swear he must have listened to a X-mas song when he composed that... listen to the first couple of bars, lol.... you tell me!

J'aime beaucoup ce cd parce qu'il est différent des autres. Les arrangements sont magnifique. J'y retrouve sa musique enrobée d'une saveur qui me donne l'esu à la bouche et qui ensorcelle mes oreilles. Bref, c'est un cd qui s'écoute avec ravissement.

You have known, whether or not you like that, frequently music you' Such healthy consoles in order to inquire about that the type of ve has known extent, it' S you heard. This CD was taken a second look besides the fact that with, being different, I do not give five stars of the thin genius to that. It meaning that the pan and the toilet paper which are sliced as other things scream, you' of feeling of the condition which it strikes with the hammer of the high energy ear; There is no re, if but that being largest it is not complete, hearing splendid It' S. Well It' S. I health like that sufficiently, but it is synthesized clearly, is not urged very and the ‚Ä sounds. Perhaps as for me the ' Heart and soul' It has let escape; The product, but really, everything it' That s it is not. I knew of this album quite some time ago... my sister had a cassette copy (this was before CDs became popular or as accessible as they are today. Or maybe they just weren't accessible to ME) and basically, I wanted some comfort music. You know, the type of music you've heard so often that whether you like it or not, you know it so well it's comforting to hear. Unlike the others who have reviewed this CD, I do not give it 5 stars of sheer genius. It's nice to listen to if you're not in the mood for high-energy ear hammering tunes, but it is definitely not the greatest thing since sliced bread and toilet paper as the others have raved. It's okay. I like it well enough, but it sounds obviously synthesized and not incredibly inspired. Maybe I am missing the 'heart and soul' of the product, but really, it's not all that. It is pleasant to the ear and does not engage the brain over-much, which can be a gentle respite, I suppose. Don't expect anything too complex, just some basic Japanese music that is reminiscent of a video game or even some popular Disney tracks, and you won't be disappointed. Good music to sleep by, as well, but it won't get your blood pumping or anything. Definitely an Under $9 Purchase. I wouldn't pay more than that unless this is REALLY your thing. There's better New Age music out there. "Thunderdrums", for instance, I feel is a better CD, but that is Native American inspired and not Japanese. Again, to summarize, this is a good CD, pleasant listening, but nothing stunning or even dramatic.

Kojiki is the original Japanese storybook that retells the core myths of Japanese folklore. These are the tales that underlie the Shinto faith, long before Buddhism and Confucianism took their hold on Japanese culture. As such the have a rough and tumble, tongue in cheek side that makes the stories unique to Western eyes. What they lack lack in terms of refinement they more than make up for in color and imagination.

Kitaro's approach to the Kojiki tales is to focus one the creation stories, starting with the creation of the islands, and climaxing in an intense and lurid dance that lures the sun goddess out of her cave, restoring the light and establishing Japan's royal line. The story offers many of the elements that 'program' music thrives on, and Kitaro is quick to take advantage of the resources available to him.

My first experience with the music was in concert, during Kitaro's world tour. Previously I thought of Kitaro as a bland, but enjoyable, creator of electronic music. My new age preferences were (and still are) for acoustic musicians, and Kitaro's recognizable style was cloying after much listening. What I discovered at the concert was that Kitaro in person is a completely different phenomenon that Kitaro on DVD.

Kojiki's wild emotional swings, from plaintive to ecstatic, make for compelling music. But the performance, with atmospheric special effects and Kitaro leaping from instrument to instrument was extraordinary. He finished to a standing ovation that was well earned. Since that time my appreciation for what the player/composer was trying to accomplish has grown with each playing.

This is an excellence place to start your discovery of Kitaro, and a required possession if you are a regular listener.

A good album. If you like the theme from The Silk Road, you could also purchase the original video of The Silk Road produced by NHK TV Japan. Kitaro's music is soothing and an excellent accessory to meditation.

I think the previous reviewers should know Kitaro is a female - I went to her concert in Illinois. Please stop talking about him / he etc.

I read many of the reviews posted here that slam Kitaro for not "moving forward" with this release. Moving forward? Does everything have to be completely different from something else? Isn't the journey not only looking at the "what will be", but also at the "past"? Although I might be completely wrong, I think Kitaro was reflecting on his "past" when he recorded this album (even if doing so unconsciously). Yes, it is very similar to some of his early works. It's simple, yet complex. It's mellow, yet very engrossing. Personally, I find it conducive to meditation, thinking and part of my own spiritual journey. It took my then very stressful morning and brought it down to an amazingly mellow stance. I am anything, but stressed after listening to "Spiritual Garden". If you like Kitaro's earlier works you will enjoy this. If you are looking for more orchestral pieces, you will not care for it.

There are no words that can describe the power of this album. It pure spirituality and inner cultivation of the gifts of light and beautiful love. Enough said. Spiritual Garden is a must to ease the wars in the minds and hearts of people in this mysterious universe we live in. Thank you again Master Kitaro!!!

The box the cd came in was in pieces.. It was shipped in a envelope with no padding... I was lucky the cd did not crack... the music is greaat...

For me it is favorite music for meditation and searching peace of my mind. This music is recommended to estimulate Alfa Waves generation into our brain. Very recommended music for all.

This work though recognisably Kitaro is very Japanese and comes across as his "roots" music. If you just enjoy the melodic tracks such as Silk Road or Koi, you might find this a challenge but keep on going to the end cos Track 6 incorporating some spinetingling wailing is nothing short of sublime. Turn down the lights and turn up the volume - and be transported.

On the whole this is a very typical `new age' release - not a genre I like very much. However, there is some good guitar work and interesting vocals in the first two or three tracks. Makes for nice listening. However, after that, it's pretty much downhill. Generally they start to sound the same, making it quite tiresome. If you like Kitaro I suppose you'll like "Gaia," otherwise look elsewhere for good mood music.

His music flows and ebbs in so many ways. He is the master of his art and is one of the better composers of this time. Your mind can take the journey into a realm that is not quite human, but is deeply moving and spiritual. It envolves the mind, body and spirit which he implements to the fullest to make the best mixture of nature, music and spirit. I could not recommend a better CD to anyone who wants to relax or meditate and feel the moods of emotion that he lets the listener become a part of. Music this good should be shared by all.

Sorry folks, I cannot remember the name of Kitaro's first CD which I had. It simply disappeared one day. I used to lie on the couch when listening to his healing music and end up falling asleep peacefully, every single time. It sure did me so much good! I acquire "Gaia Onbashira" because I suspect I may be enjoying the same, original Kitaro-sound, which I go for a 100%! My guess is that his Christmas album should be a very worhwhile and classic CD to possess and I suppose I shall ending up having this one in my collection too! By the way, where happened to the "Silk Road"? I used to have those too and they are highly recommendable. There is nothing like nature! I brings out the best or the worst in one.

This Kitaro CD is one of the lushest, most ravishing of all. A fusion of spirit and nature. If there was music in the Garden of Eden, this would be it. It is the essence of Mother Earth singing to us.
