What a fantastic mix of music! These two really know how to sample- you wish that it could be hours longer!

Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister are amazing. Anything they touch turns into pure musical gold. K&D sessions is nothing but remixes of fine songs made just that much better. This is my favorite album of all time. Nothing is more chilled, grooved, and dubbed than K&D sessions

This is the best chill-out music, perfect for when you wanna relax and have a drink of wine or whatever. Worth every penny. It's got a cool, sexy and cerebral darkness to it that's not so overpowering that it makes the music less relaxing but instead adds a depth and mood you just don't get from other chill guys like Kinobe, although they're certainly not bad at what they do. Very atmospheric, rich, deep. Vaguely reminds me of walking around a European capital, although perhaps that's because the first time I heard it was during day off with some girls in Rome. And thankfully K&D is longer than the G-Stoned EP, which is also a masterpiece but not even a half-hour long. Kruder & Dorfmeister you're too good, we need more!
The CD booklet reminds me of something The Rolling Stones would do, which is wild considering how chill the music is, but again shows you don't have to be loud and abrasive to be rebellious.

Must be over five years since I first heard this album, but listening to it now it still sounds fresh. Yes that's a cliche, but with this album it is also true.

Funky, jazzy, sick bass lines - seminal. Buy it. You won't regret it.

This is a classic album - great as background music or just listening and chilling out. However, this is a reissue of their previous DJ-Kicks re-mix. I erroneously thought it was something new!

If you like drum and bass this is a CD worth having. It has a wide variety of artist and the mixing in my opinion is very good. Some of it is down tempo but that doesn't spoil the flow of the mix. Well worth a spin in your CD player.

Kruder and Dorfmeister, cool-class weavers of drum and bass and otherwise obscure fragments of funk, have knocked off another album of slick chill tunes cribbed from the likes of Herbaliser, Thievery Corporation, Beanfield, and Sapien. This effort is a bit more caffeinated than "Conversions," but it lacks the creative influx of "Sessions." The end product has a good set of legs but fails to use them to go anywhere unique.

The vibe is one strata of liquid lounge after another, and in most cases, the lack of their trademark inventiveness doesn't detract much from the beautifully placid aura the music evokes. "A Mother" and "Livin' Free" have clean, crystalline swells of sound that kick the album off to a good start. "Dadamnphreaknoizphunk" and "Keep On Believing" mix dark ambient soul with deep house intentions with great effect. However, the album lapses occasionally into realms that, while not bad, aren't especially interesting. "Give My Soul" becomes a bit too repetitive, "Radio Burning Chrome" has an electric jazz groove that, while fun, is ultimately out of place on this line up, and every once in a while (see "In Too Deep" and "High Noon") the record hits a level of velvet-lavender lounge that is almost -- if you can believe it -- too chill for the tone that's already been set.

I don't want to harp too much on the various setbacks. This is K&D we're talking about. Like pizza or sex, even when it's not that great, it's still way better than most. In spite of the few uneven snags, the overall product is above average in style, soothing and emotive, and well worth the purchase.

Most electronic music sounds pretty dated after a few years but this disc is just incredible; amazing tunes in just the right order, perfectly mixed. This disc proves that there is an art to the dj mix and only a few others can even come close to this.

This cd is not as good as K&D sessions but is right up there. Some may beg to differ. The one good thing about Kruder and Dorfmeister is you have to listen to enter with an open mind cause every cd is different. A lot of mellow pop, bass and drums, techno. This album could be the most mellow I've heard, but the kicks are a plus. A lot of bass and drums, which is the Kruder dorfmeister style anyways.

Peace Orchestra's self-titled premier may diguise the artist's name, but it shouldn't take Kruder fans very long to recognize him behind the verbal mask. A nice compilation of tracks carefully selected to represent the different sounds and styles of lounge music from all over the world that were trendy at the turn of the century. This album is aging nicely and is difficult to purchase for less than $30. My only gripe is Peter Kruder's mixing leaves a lot to be desired.

and this album is 100% proof of this fact. I have owned this cd for about a year, and I am still listening to it, uncovering new layers of music. Straight off, Kurder captivates you with "The Man Part 1", drums and etherial sounds paving the way and welcoming you to his mind. From there, every other track stands out as unique and individual. I cannot pick out a favorite track because I cannot just listen to one track alone, they each compliment another, flowing beautifully from one to the next (however this is not a mix album). This album comes highly recommended and compliments any cd collection. Also, concerning those people that have only heard "Who Am I" (from the Animatrix) clearly did not listen to the entire album with a critical ear. If you are just expecitng "Who Am I", I promise you that Kruder will blow past your expectations and create an image of musical beauty that is rarely matched by any other electronic artist in the world today.

I listen to SOMA.fm's "GrooveSalad" in iTunes a lot these days -- I just leave it running all day on my Mac at work. Just now I heard Peace Orchestra's "Marakesh" playing. It's a great track, but what really got me was hearing one of the samples composer Peter Kruder employed over and over again in the track: it's a small vocal bit by URSZULA DUDZIAK from her 1979 album "Future Talk." The sample is a vocal refrain taken from the title track, written by her famed Polish violinist husband, Michael Urbaniak. I was once a radio DJ and used to play this track all the time on my radio show (yes, it was a very obscure station where I was allowed to play whatever suited me...). While I was elated to here it employed in the track, I do wonder if a] she knows about it, and b] if she was credited for its use...

Honestly, I was disapointed. "Who am I" is great, but otherwise I thought the CD was just plain and even boring. It's the typical music you'd hear in a lounge/bar but wouldn't even notice because it sounds so much like all the other stuff out there.

Not nearly as ambitious as "The K&D Sessions," nor as energized as "DJ Kicks," "Conversions" is Kruder and Dorfmeister at their most introspective. The Austrian duo displays their typical panache with a serving of soulful drum and bass, seamlessly blending a wealth of clean and cool rhythms into something that plays like a single, hour-long anthem to twilight. Although this album is, in true K&D fashion, immaculately presented, it is also the most passive thing they've ever created. The end result is something as drowsy as it is brilliant. Put this record on and you will undoubtedly enjoy it, but it's soothing pulse may put you to sleep long before you have time to reach the end.

I stumbled upon this CD after hearing K&D's brilliant "Sessions". "Conversions" is pure drum and bass. The beats are tight, the bass is deep and warm, all overlayed with beautiful ambient flourishes. The first four tracks are average/pretty good, but they're only a warm-up. The real journey begins when K&D kick it into high-gear with the final 6 tracks. Starting with "One and Only" and ending with "The Lick", this seamless stretch of drum and bass is excellent and addictive. Drum and bass fans should definitely check out this cd.

Also, if for some reason you don't have the K&D Sessions cd, make sure you pick that up as well. It's different than this, less drum and bass and more downtempo-chillout with more variety.

i ask you who dig this album - is there ANYTHING to which you can compare this record? LTJ Bukem is about as close as it gets, and he is more repetitive than this incredible, textured, listen-to-it-a-billion-times record. it is astonishing.

In case of funk, break this glass...if you're head is filled with day to day dead ends, the voyage on this gorgeous piece will make you soul wish for a stash of more around every corner of your life.
The gentle but edgy melodies are punctuated by distant sounding voices (beautiful "One and Only", the mesmerizing "Find me"- worth the CD itself ) while the drum&bass hectic but delicate balance maintains the awkwardness intact. Keyboards also hit some high pitch tones and ensure the experience is taking you places you rarely go (the lively "Searching"). A sexy sax can play the notes as well making smooth transitions to jazzier settings ("Ballistic Brothers"). At times the beats do get more enticed ("Nu Birth of Cool" and "Skanna" evoking Alex Reece). "Speechless takes you back to K&D more classic style, which is a tad more clubby and has a sturdy bass to make it hip. The last three pieces are quite frankly amazing. They set the tone for a perfect landing and you literally feel like you are sitting on clouds (as they even include space-like dialogues) with very funky 70`s like keyboards and trumpet. The ending has all of the three main elements of this great K&D recipe: eerie female vocals, a present but soft rhythm box and a tune that heightens your mind.
The greatness of this album is in the difference that it makes in your collection. It's a discreet little diamond that you will come back to since it bears the K&D label of quality stemming from hours and hours of listening and looking for the rare tunes that will take you out of this sometimes humdrum world...

Based on its popularity, I picked up K&D Sessions for my first K&D purchase. I naturally craved more K&D soon after, but I wavered on buying Conversions. When I went for it, though, I was glad I did!

As other reviews state, Conversions is markedly different from Sessions. It is a more upbeat album and has a flow such that it is really hard to discern when the track changes! At the beginning of the album tracks are very melodic. Throughout the middle the bass picks up and really becomes the emphasis. Near the end of the album, strong melodies are picked up again and there are some really sick drum beats, especially on track 9 :) By the end you are ready to listen to the album straight down again.

While Sessions contains a wider variety of electronic styles and really has some standout tracks, Conversions, as one reviewer mentioned, is about the whole album experience. Though it is upbeat, its not hard at all to turn throw on some headphones late at night and totally chill out with Conversions. Highly Recommended!

CD Number 2 is truly amazing. I alaways remix the tracks and pull some out, but this one is consistent as is.

This is the kind of CD which provides a soundtrack to lounge to. Downtempo, ambient(ish), and breakbeats all spread across 2 CDs. Definitely a CD for the post-rave generation (those of you who've been around since the early days of dance back in the late 80s especially) who've graduated from trance/techno and are ready for music with more depth. Sit back, turn the lights down low, invite some friends over, and enjoy the company and the music.

This album is chock-full of excellent early trip/hop tracks most influenced by jazz and r&b. This (and the Volume 1 edition) introduced me to trip-hop and eventually electronic music in the early 90's, and to this day I still listen to it when I want some mellow but not at all boring or newagey music to chill by. Kruder & Dorfmeister, Massive Attack, Portishead and Hooverphonic fans will probably find this record to their liking.

This is a good sampler of "trip hop" sounds circa '95. Standout track is T-Power vs. MK Ultra's "Horny Mutant Jazz", but watch out, Amazon seem to think "horny" is a dirty word, so they might not sell this to you!

This album is amazing - exactly the needed dose of dope for your ears. Whoever is a fan of K&D's Sessions should definitely buy this CD. Same style, same flowing groovy songs. Get it and you wont regret it

This recording brings drum & bass jungle to a current level of hip-hop awareness with its ability to fuse after-club drive-home twilight fuzzies with down-to-silicon beats even a newbe would appreciate. No played-out Pentium 1 rehash! A serious five-*!

It is difficult for me to find that this cd is litle known and nobody has recommended it. If you appreciate grooves and modern jazz don't hesitate to buy it. And with that little price it will be one of your best ever-buys!

The G-Stoned EP is one of the few albums that I would call perfect. I reserve that term for albums that are absolutely life-changing, that rise above the work of their genre, and inspire countless other artists. In only four short tracks, Kruder and Dorfmeister establish themselves as one of the leaders of downtempo, or trip hop, or the label du jour - whatever you want to call it, it's amazing music.

The songs are deceptively simple, but the genius is in the details. While many artists would be content to dip into their library of loops and breaks, K&D recruit fellow Viennese jazz musicians to realize their ideas. The result is obvious upon the first listen - real musicians making real music. While K&D do use some samples on the album, they're more like tasty embellishments. When they need something serious like a beat or some gentle electric piano comping, they get a live musician in the studio.

Dorfmeister's primitive flute on the opening definition is reminiscent of Florian Schneider on the early Kraftwerk albums in what is most definitely a nod to their German neighbors. Deep S***, the second track, has the rich warmth of a well-worn record, complete with the requisite fuzz, slightly wavering pitch, and smoothed out edges. It clearly showcases K&D's sampling prowess. They fit the pieces together as if the music was conceived as a whole right from the beginning.

High Noon is a little more energetic (although, for this style of record, it's all relative), and features an obscured sample of "Blue Moon." Finally, we reach the sensual Original Bedroom Rockers, a perfect end to a thoroughly chill album.

Although most fans are already aware of this, it's worth pointing out to new listeners that these are Kruder and Dorfmeister originals. They've composed a grand total of seven or eight works together. The vast majority of their output are remixes and, even though K&D tend to make tracks their own, the style is a bit different. This album is jazzy, but it's a much more subdued than most of the tracks on The K&D Sessions or the DJ Kicks album. You might be in for a surprise.

This album takes a long time to reveal its greatness. It repays careful listening. If you want something immediately catchy, you can always just turn on the radio. There is plenty of music that hooks you upon the very first listen, but those hooks are ephemeral. You'll be listening to the G-Stone EP long after you tire of the rest.

I recommend this to any fan of electronic music, and to most fans of music in general. Pop this in the player, turn out the lights, and enjoy.

I'll be brief on this one. This EP is OK but it leaves a lot to be desired. It has good beats but it lacks on melody. Dark and slow. It is just not as edgy as some of their other material. Good but kind of boring is the best way I can describe it.

Hey you, if you love & understand the essence of music I would say go get this one, and if its not upto your mark send me the world's most abusive email and I would accept it happily.
Music for a person who has a ear and stomach for rhythm(i.e music), and is not merely content with listening to it but is also visualising and absorbing everything that he hears and feels.

I love unique downtempo. KD are consisten winners.

This album is so fine. It's just very chill and every loop feels like it's placed just right.
