They are calling it Neo-classical. It's the classically trained voice, singing with some "pop" quality, and singing newer compositions including modern instruments.

Josh Groban has a fabulous singing voice, and the selection of songs on this recording is nearly flawless. I love the fact that he is helping to bridge the gap between "pop" and "art" musics.

Some night long ago, I was watching television and the commercial for this cd came on - Groban was singing "Oceano" throughout and, simple as that, I was addicted. Though filled with songs that are in Italian, French, and some other languages I can't reasonably understand the lyrics in given my history with language classes, I love the cd.
Any fan of Groban's will love this CD, and songs like "Remember when it Rained" will draw in a new round of fans.

This CD is wonderful. There isn't a song on it that I dislike. Every song is topnotch. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who would like a near heaven experience.

Got this CD for my wife for Valentine's day and she absolutely loves it. If you are a Josh Groban fan, this one's for you.

Great songs and beautiful music....his voice is full of passion and magic...classic style...It would be even better if it had more selection of English songs in this CD...Can't understand the lyrics of many songs, but I do love his voice and the wonderful music.

I sit here at my computer and try to think of superlatives adequate to accurately describe this album....and there just aren't any. It is worthy to be the best selling classical album of all time....but it's more than that. It's just a must have, a collection to soothe the savage breast. For those times when I have lost hope, when I am past care.....I will sit with closed eyes and listen to this. And revive my soul.....

This is a most enjoyable cd. The music selection is varied, creative and powerful. I think this concert was so special. I'm not particularly classical music oriented, but I did enjoy this music and have listened to the cd many times over. It is the depth of voices, clearness of notes and the fun the 3 tenors were having that really enchanted me. These three tenors have such a gift to give and do give it most generously. Most of the songs are classic Italian so that even people like myself who aren't necessarily opera buffs will enjoy hearing these voices even if they cannot understand a word. Most likely I will order more of this type of music.

I respectfully agree yet disagree with Ms Barbara Eisner who wrote the review of the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. She is right that Carreras was not on par with the other 2 but that is only because at this late stage in his (Carreras) career he was not in the very fine voice he once was due to overuse of his voice and his battle with leukemia, which he valiantly won!. If you could appreciate, as I do,Carreras' 1970's richly-gorgeous and velvety voice in recordings of operas such as Lucia, La Boheme, Donizetti and liter Verdi operas you would have seen his mid 70's peak voice would have been every been as excellent as Domingo and Pavarotti were in the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. In fact, I dare to say he would have blown both men out of the water..with the possible exception of Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. Just listen to Carreras singing with Caballe on youtube in Adriana Lecrouveur and Tosca and you'll see what I mean!!!

Saw this concert on TV and was so moved by their voices and the opera experience, had to order and was not disappointed. I listen to it and feel relaxed, excited and amazed. I listen to alot of different music (mostly rock) so people who know me were curious and listened too and were surprised how much they liked it.

Arrived in fine time. Knew what I was getting, based on several viewings and listenings on PBS. Met my expectations. Good quality of used CD.

This CD proves what we've known for over 40 years. The Maestro has NO PEERS. A collection of all his famous arias - Che Gelida Manina, Cielo e Mar, Vesti la Giubba... they're all here. And every one magnificent. For new opera lovers - you won't find a better CD to start you on your discovery of the greatest tenor of all time. BUY IT - you will fall in love with the Grand Tenore!!!

This was my 1st classical cd purchase & I'm so happy with the selection of songs. I absolutely love Pavarotti and will now start to add other classical cd's to my music collection.

This 2 CD collection is exactly what I hoped for-Pavarotti at his best!
It's a nice variety of his classic repertoire and his popular music performances. It's a good way to archive the great tenor in one location, and one to listen to over and over.

It is sad, isn't it, that we take our gifted artists for granted until they're gone forever. I'm guilty of that short-sightedness to this day and here is a great example. When Pavarotti began his rush to fame in the early 1990's, like many others, I just knew his singing would be around throughout my lifetime. Now he's gone. Had he not passed on, I probably would still not have owned this CD continuing to take his gift to us for granted. Nevertheless, the reality creeps in and I bought it in remembrance of him and I'm not one bit disappointed. The CD is clear and crisp and if you close your eyes, he is standing in the room waving his white handkirchief at you so you can wipe away the tears - I'll guarantee you they'll come.

A world treasure and he will be missed for his beautiful voice. Pavorotti Forever is CD to keep.

This DVD provides a glimpse of Josh Groban when he was 21 or 22 years old, a world of difference from him today. His music is sweet and tender, as is his demeanor. A few differences exist in the music shown on this DVD when compared with his CD that came out in 2001; otherwise they are the same. My earlier comment isn't meant to detract from Josh today; he has evolved as stardom has made him a truly bigtime item in the firmament. But if you want to see him when he was a relatively fresh face, you shouldn't miss this album.

For those of you unfamiliar with Josh Groban this is a great way to start. It is his first cd - self titled - What a voice. He has several other cd's as well as dvd's (awesome by the way) He changed my life - We call ourselves Grobonites a proud name to bear. Whatever you've heard about the music - if you haven't listened you truly need to. You will not be sorry about the investmant you've made. He has a charitable foundation that helps bring medicine and drinking water to villages in Africa. His foundation also works with AIDS patients. I've actually met him and was able to tell him that he helped me thru Cancer his voice kept me going thru some tough times. Please just listen once. (and it doesn't hurt that he's cute too!)

I was given "Noel" by Josh Groban as a gift. I immediately realized that a "this is a voice unlike any other." After receiving the Josh Groban in Concert DVD and the accompaning CD, I realized that even this had been an understatement. Josh's voice lends itself equally to the classical, near operatic songs, and to the sweet, pop like love ballads. The DVD is well over an hour of nonstop music, and also has backstage coverage which was shot by Josh's brother, Chris, and other coverage of the making of the DVD. If you're a Josh fan, this is a must have. If you are not as yet acquainted with this great talent, try this DVD and I guarantee you will be wanting more of this amazing voice.

This DVD will be always betwen my tresures.

Very disappointed in the product I love the artist but was not impressed with the DVD It needed to be stated that it was not in English

I enjoyed this CD because I like the tenors on it very much, and it included a number of selections where the three men are singing together, or cooperatively and that was the best part.

when the cd arrived it played perfect. had all the literature and was perfect in everyway, better than a cd store. thanks amazon

The "Three Tenors" concerts were basically a gimmick, but an enjoyable gimmick. I have not purchased all the "Three Tenors" reocrdings, because I have considerable other material from each of them.
The 1994 concert was a lighter repertoire than most. I have shelved my copy in the "miscellaneous" category, rather than the "tenors." Even so, the recorded audience reaction seems to be stronger for the operatic arias than for the so-called "popular" selections. Whatever the case, I will continue to enjoy this particular recording.

The concert realized in LA as part of the celebrations of the World Cup in 1994 is one of the finest spectacles that took place during the last century. On July 16th three of the most celebrated artists the world has given : Pavarotti, Domingo & Carreras together with Zubin Mehta displayed all their art, virtuosity and magnificence and the world just applauded them......

The Cd highlights are imho "Nessum Dorma" by Pavarotti, Domingo's interpretation of "Granada", "With a Song in my Heart" by Carreras and the part of the show in which the 3 Maestros join their wonderful voices : "A Tribute to Hollywood", "Around the World", "La Donna e Mobile" & "Libiamo Ne'Lieti Calici" .....

I hghly recommend this Cd !

I don't know how this could be any better. Mario sings like an angel and I love most of the selections. I have thoroughly enoyed listening to my cd's, over and over.

Mario Lanza was, arguably, the greatest tenor and greatest singer of this and the last century. It is difficult to appreciate him without listening to a variety of selections. This collection has some of his best recordings and exhibits the versatility and variety that he possessed that permitted him to "crossover" from opera to popular music with a ease.

I recommend this for those who already know Lanza to some extent but want to go into more depth and understand his marvelous skills.

I had forgotten what a beautiful voice Mario Lanza had. This collection contains opera and pop selections that exhibit the power yet sweetness of his voice. Fortunately, we have his CD's and videos so we can remember and listen to his gorgeous, vibrant voice and personality. I highly recommend this collection along with his wonderful movies, especially The Great Caruso.

extract from most important LPs. Brilliant sound quality from RCA. Also included are soundtrack recordings from some of his movies. The are several reissues from Mario Lanza but this one is a collection you should have.

This dvd was purchased as an early Mother's Day Present for my elderly mother. She has watched it nearly every night because she can't get enough. As an opera lover myself, absolutely loved the Karoeke of O Sole Mio! We were totally surprised about the "Impossible Dream" dvd of the making of this "historic" video. It is worth purchasing solely based on the historic nature of this concert. It was really beyond our wildest expectations. The price is well worth it.

This product.technically,was superb visually as well as the audio. The extras, especially the history of the concert,added to my enjoyment.For aficionados of classical music, this is a must add.

Thie is a GREAT DVD of the 3 Tenors in their prime. It's also brings back wonderful memories of Maestro Pavarotti now that he has left us. This DVD has also behind the scene clips of rehersals & how they organized the concert to celebrate the 1990 World Cup in Italy. The DVD is worth the price for a piece of musical history which will live on forever.

All the good things that have been said about the (long previously available) US format of this DVD are true for this one too. This was the concert that made opera popular, and Pavarotti a household name (Domingo and Carreras each got to be "one of the other three tenors" - until much later). And the reason it did that was primarily due to a) their song choice - including popular numbers such as Tonight, from West Side Story, for instance, broke down the perceived divide between opera singers and the average music listener; and b) the mischievous playfulness of Domingo and Carreras' reply to Pavarotti's fioratura in the encore - along with Pavarotti's astonishment and hearty spontaneous laughter in response. These might be opera singers, but they were having fun, and the audience, live and televised, had fun with them.

I've been waiting for more than a decade for this DVD to come out, continually frustrated by trying to order the other format only to be told "it won't work in Australian DVD players. My only gripe is that they changed the cover - why should we Aussies not be able to have the orignal cover too?

Watching it with the benefit of nearly 20 years hindsight, perhaps what it shows most clearly is how developed Pavarotti's voice was at that time compared with Domingo and Carreras, both of whom have since become much more equal competition for Luciano. That said, nothing hides the sheer magic of Pavarotti as a singer. Long may the DVDs live as a testimony to him. Vale Luciano!

Keep in mind this cd was released in 2000, so it has distinct "sounds" from that time period. Sounds very 90's in a way!
Nonetheless, her voice does do 'gymnastics' like the overly mean critics review above, (geez, amazon!) but not in a bad way. I feel she is singing perfectly for her voice range, not trying to sound like she tries to hit notes she shouldn't attempt, instead hitting them perfectly and with emotion. Broken Vow and The Dream Within are my favorites. (Josh Groban does a nice version on Broken Vow as well.)
Try going to the youtube website and looking up Broken Vow, and see just how powerful and gymnastic-ky her voice actually is.
3 stars only because this cd does sound very 90s, if I were giving a review 8 years ago, it would have been 4.

Her voice makes me feel warm and comforting, or emotional at some songs. I turn this CD on any time I feel like to escape to another world. It's so comforting, it's like chicken soup for your body and soul, especially when you need (a shoulder) to cry on!
Her voice and songs are written by herself mostly, she 's so sensitive, she made you felt understood when you have a broken heart!
I can't describe it by words. Some of the songs can be sad but her voice is like an angel, she understands how you feel...
Anyway, got to try her music if you are a sensitive person!
*By the way, please don't compare her to Celine, Dion is no song-writer or great voice, she cannot hit some notes right as Lara does.

My family has owned and listened to Lara for years yet remain always in complete awe of her near perfect vocal abilities. She is an amazing melding of Celine Dion & Mariah Carey, but unlike those two, she presents her vocal talents without pretense - pure music.
Lara Fabian is gifted in many languages and easily represents herself in French, Italian and Spanish (oh and English of course). I will likely never hear another who's so gifted vocally; who can better the power of Dion, has cleaner virtuosity than Mariah and yet can suddenly drop down into the most mesmerizing pianissimos. I would simply consider this voice to be akin to a concert pianist who can at will do whatever is wished musically.
If you've not heard her, you miss a superbe talent!

There is not a bad cut on this it is well written easy listening to neo classical music, begining with the song that got her noticed in the U.S.; "I Will Love Again", "Giving Up On You", "I Am What I Am", Yeliel(My Angel), Adagio and "Love By Grace". Stands to repeated listenings without it hardly getting old, Lara Fabian is a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice and an expertly produced album to boot.

I was on Yahoo Answers when I saw a question with a link to a video by Lara. It was fantastic! With her beautiful and passionate voice, it completely blew me away. She deserves to be better known.
