i think she can be a star too since she have a powerful vocal that mesmerized me... i love her 'What You're Made Of'.. she was confidently sang that song with her talented voices.. anyway, good luck for lucie..

People may look at Lucie Silva's and say "Not another young blondie pop singer"... and that's right, she's not! She's a mixture of Celine Dion style ballads, Michelle Branch's soulful expression with a fresh hip edge. Her voice is individual, and although some of the music does seem recycled, and lines can develop predictable endings (can't they all?) she's got a great style. I'd recommend this album for any Delta Goodrem fans, because it outweighs her by far (Sorry Delta!). She's such a talented young lady, I hope this album takes her to the top. And it's so catchy and soulfull, I'm sure it will.

I hope this CD breaks into the US music scene because it will make her a worldwide star. The entire CD is absolutely wonderful and is a keeper. Her first release, "What You're Made Of" is what prompted me to buy it but I've fallen in love with so many of the songs that it's hard to pick a favorite. There's not one song that disappoints and her CD is well worth buying!

This album is great for a debut. Lucie has an amazing voice, and is not afraid to show it. All I have ro say is welcome, Lucie! and I hope that we will be seeing more of her.

I just heard this album for the first time today and it is steller. Great pop/rock music. There isn't a filler track on the album. If you are looking for a new artist to get into, give Lucie a listen you won't be dissapointed.

Being from America, it was very hard to find this particular album but when I did I was extremely excited. Lucie has an amazing voice and wonderful songs. You find yourself being drug into the lyrics, really feeling what she's saying. This album is a wonderful start, but there is still something missing.

True Lucie provides a wonderfully different style of Pop as compared to most of the crap that is on the market these days, but that doesn't always garuntee you'll have a solid hit on your hands. Although every song on the album provides a nice listening experience, there aren't really any tracks that stand out. I know it's always nice to have a CD that you can listen to all the way through, but that CD has to contain two or three songs that really pop out to a listener. Sometimes if you're lucky you can get more.

Lucie makes a solid effort, but I believe she has a lot of growing to do as an artist. For instance she needs to explore with more upbeat piano riffs and branch away from the boring. All of the songs on this album are too calm for the average listener. I could see her gaining a wider fan base if she picked up a few catchy beats like Vanessa Carlton. All it takes is a few rocking songs and an album can really stick out above the rest. But for now Lucie gets four stars for providing a decent album.

Lucie Silvas, well I actually knew about her knew album after I saw her video of "What You're Made Of" on TV. That's when I really started to like her music. I listened to a number of songs from her new album and they are actually very nice compared to todays POP garbage that you get from young artists (Example: Britney Spears). Her music is more souful and it's also gives her good credit instead of doing something main stream.
Of all the songs from this album I liked "What You're Made Of" most because it is so touching and reminds me of a reminscince of Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" a little. A VEry Good effort from her. Also besides this, try Marion Ravion's debut album as well. She's from the girl band M2M. Happy Listening to guys!

...a little more intriguing and infinitely more talented than her "pop" peers. Ms Silvas seems to add a greater sense of soulful meaning to her brand of pop which also has a touch of classic female country about it. Her lyric work is is poetic rather than pop, trash ryhming for rhyming sake.
Whats more she has a crisp and beautiful voice which should take on greater range, depth and richness as she progresses, she has a lot of talent and this, her debut work, is very engaging and a very impressive beginning.

When Lucie Silvas first arrived onto the mainstream in late 2004, I thought here we go again... it was quite the fad at the time to sit pretty young women in front of a piano to belt out lacklustre pop-love songs. But her debut album dispelled such accusations. It was a fine example of how to do good pop music. The lyrics were thoughtful, the melodies and arrangements were catchy and memorable and as for the voice... well it was refreshing to listen to someone who genuinely had vocal talent for a change and a real soulful one at that.

This album sadly isn't a match for her first, there's just no denying it. It sees Silvas abandon the sort of radio-ready numbers that made her debut album so catchy and easy to listen to. There are moments where it takes you back to the sort of path her debut followed but largely this time, Silvas has opted for downbeat, slow numbers that sound sort of folky as they rely mainly on acoustic guitar to carry them. Her vocal abilities and piano skills are largely untapped on this album

She seems despearate to restrain her voice and sings in an understated manner most of the time ... kind of like Katie Melua and co. There's nothing horrible of course in these songs but they just seem to lack a bit of life.
This time out she has abandoned her piano skills as the focal point for the tracks. Not a crime to try something different but this is only album number two so it would have been nice to hear her explore her songwriting further through the piano.

Of course there are moments that are up to past glories....
Lead single Last Year is catchy enough... it's sort of a hybrid of her past style with her new folky sound... I can see why it didn't even dent the charts, it's enjoyable but it kinda floats over you.. you could take it or leave it..

Sinking In is another catchy enough track, you can kinda tell she was asked to write this for the album so it could be chosen as a single as it's far more energetic than the rest of the album.

The same side is another reasonable effort. One of the better tracks here, a nice piano-led track with good pace to it.

Trying Not To lose is the first real shock of the album,,, it's this new folky style she's trying out. An acoustic guitar carries this tune but it's quite lifeless.

Something About You is another track that could have been lifted from her debut.. a nice track with good lyrics

Place to Hide is where the album heads downhill fast... another folk-style number. Bland is all I can think of

Right Here is another bland folky song.... Might be some people's cup of tea, not for me
Counting is yet another bland track.. by this stage you feel they are starting to sound the same, something her debut album never did

Already Gone is a return to her earlier style, a nice piano track but nothing special really.

Alone is another track that I personally don't care for.. sounds country instead of folky this time

Passionate you is a piano led track, nice but by this stage, I feel underwhelmed by the album and am indifferent to it.

Overall, this album fails to match her debut. It's neither catchy nor soulful. This folky style might have made Katie Melua but I don't think it will do Lucie any favours.
Of course, it's not all bad and I think it could have fared better if it had been marketed better. I mean I didn't see Lucie pop up anywhere on t.v. to promote this. Hopefully, she'll get to work on a third album and recapture the success of her debut.

I love this Girl. She's got a great voice and there are a couple of jewels in this album: "The Same Side" and "Already Gone". The other songs are nice as well but those two are my favorites.
It's a nice girl-pop CD, uplifting and romantic and I recommend it.

Lucie Silvas has carved a niche for herself as a piano-plinking singer-songwriter.
She received much deserved praise from her last album, and rightfully so, reaching number one in UK and selling over 400,000 copies is no mean feat.
Anyway the general consensus was : great voice, bland songs.
With this new album Lucie has teamed up with Coldplay producer Danton Supple to help her break down the walls that she found surrounded her on her last album.
Wanting the album to be less safe and less manufactured, results in a 'live' sound, with real music and less knob twiddling.
With this new set, however, and with the help from the man behind Coldplay's "X & Y", the result is cleaner (no fussy orchestration), and Silvas sounds genuinely engaged.

Even the powerhouse ballads have an intimacy, with the best tracks, in particular "Last Year", co-written with 1970s music goddess Judie Tzuke.
The fact that she seems more controlled culminates in a more mature feel to the album, more accomplished.

Mingling this with the slightly alternative icons of John Mayer and India Arie is just enough to tip the scales away from the pop scene, and more to join the ranks of Norah Jones and more recently Madeleine Peyroux.

She looks like a model and sings like Kim Ritchie, that's not too bad. But there's nothing startling about her vocals, she's very good but has kind of a contrived emo-Nashville thing built in, I'm not sure I believe she really sounds this way naturally. The songs are decent, but are a bit clumsy in transitions and lack really compelling hooks (she also steals, from Seal and others, too obviously). That's okay, she can buy songs, or at least some help.

But the best thing this pretty lady could do is move to the US double quick, put some fashion boots on and get countryfied for real. Forget Europe and the UK, the money is here girl. With her looks and sound I have no doubt she could compete for #1 pop country diva status, big bucks, Hollywood, you name it. Puzzling there isn't more buzz here, her management's fault, and hers perhaps. This kind of shining beauty is fleeting, she better get with it in the new world if she wants the golden ring. 400,000 albums sold? Shoot, she should sell than many in Tennessee alone.
