Marc Broussard

Bought this because his previous album Carencro was the best i've heard, ever! This one, not so much. Seems like to much production and slick recording might have got in his way of the ture pure sounds from the previous work... ... jmho

If you like funky love songs, are a fan of Stevie Wonder's, or have any soul at all, this C.D. will be in your player for a long time. Keep Coming Back, Marc.

The "soul" revival is well represented by Marc Broussard. If this represents what he does he'll be around a long time

Marc Broussard has an amazing voice and a good songwriter. He doesn't disappoint on this new CD either. I had the opportunity of seeing him live at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle and was just as impressed with his live performance.

I bought the ep a few months back that included a couple songs from this new release. Last week I had the pleasure of seeing Marc perform live in Lowell MA and was looking forward to getting this new release. It's a solid effort and the previous reviewer hit the nail on the head. Marc is the funkiest white guy out there today. He has a fine voice and knows how to use it. The Real Thing should be a radio smash. There are many others fine songs on this cd, althought the two duets don't really do it for me, resulting in the 4 star rating. I look forward to seeing Marc back in the New England area and recommend that everyone go out and support this artist.

I was disappointed that the entire CD did not live up to the song, Home song "Home." Usually, we expect that the entire collection will have the same sound.

The song "Home" is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I drove 1200 miles straight listening to this album over and over for the end stretch, cranking the speakers and singing along to stay awake. You can't fall asleep with Mark Broussard singing- he's pure energy.

MY daughter bought this for my wife and she will open it on Christmas day and I am sure she will love it.

I've had this CD since it's release. Marc Broussard has wanted to be labeled as a Singer-Songwriter/Southern Soul artist. He has not nor ever will be a Country artist. Yes, Home got play on CMT and GAC, but it gives off the wrong impression of his artistic endeavor. He's trying to reach a crowd who's prone to buying John Mayer, Dave Matthews, OR something funky and soulful. If you don't like these styles of music, then this isn't for you! But if you're feeling adventurous, give it a try. Rocksteady is a soul shouter as are other highlights like the hidden bonus dedicated to fatherless children. As with most music, people aren't always going to conform to an artists hopes and dreams. So be it. People just need to listen and open up...that's what Broussard is looking for. Also Recommended - S.O.S. (Save Our Soul) another great R&B record by the talented singer-songwriter.

Young Louisiana singer-songwriter Marc Broussard has a great sense for combining blues and soul in original songs which highlight his rich, searing multi-octive voice. The swampy opening track "Home" - which features a refrain from a gospel classic wedded to a pounding beat - gets the ablum off to a blistering start. Other strong tracks include the soulful ballad "The Beauty of Who You Are"; the hook-laden and highly danceable "Come Around"; "Lonely Night in Georgia" with Broussard's soaring voice over a country-tinged beat; the bouncy '70s feeling "Saturday" and the album's highlight - the heart-ripping scorcher "Let Me Leave" - which captures the spirit of a vintage Joe Cocker ballad lushly upholstered with backing strings. The remaining tracks are pop-ish AMERICAN IDOL flavored numbers at odds with the best material on CARENCRO and point to the danger that Broussard could become the Michael Bolton of his generation. Still, Broussard possesses a dynamic voice with an amazing range and as his 2007 release S.O.S.: SAVE OUR SOUL amply demonstrates, he's at heart a 1960s & 70s soulman trapped in the body of a twentysomething white musician. Listen to CARENCRO with that in mind while trying to ignore the obvious tension between the standout gems and the lamer tracks, and you'll have an enjoyable enough trip into Broussard's teaming musical gumbo.

When I first saw him it was on a late night with Conan O'brien. He was beating the hell out of his Taylor guitar and I was blown away I have a lot of his stuff but I love his voice and playing style and he is just a natural performer too... check out The Wanderer, but listen to the whole thing too and you'll want more of this guy!.. charlie

Broussard is a talented vocalist and a reasonable guitarist. I got "Momentary Setback" after "Carencro" and there's no way I can give it 5 stars standing up against his second CD, but it's still solid and shows a lot of promise that he realizes in "Carencro."

I got Carencro first, and was blown away. Now I have Momentary Setback, and I love it too. Marc sounds fantastic and the songs are all "keepers". Marc is an incredible talent, he deserves much more recognition than he has. Will add to my daily listening.

marc broussard is a very talented stage performer, he hasnt been able to translate his musical talent to a record yet. he has all the ability to jam and make worthwhile music, but wastes it on trying to be louisianas answer to john mayer, not the direction this skillful musician needs to be going in, if you have a lady who enjoys john mayers sound, then she'll love this crooners style, otherwise id take a pass on this cd...

I was driving through Memphis when this great song lifted me up and sent me rocking thru traffic. I didn't get the artists name or the name of the song. However, I searched through alot of music until I found it. HOME by Marc Broussard. GREAT STUFF. Jane

Love this EP...the highlights are "Must Be The Water", "Ya'll Ain't Ready", and "Someone You Know"

i love that marc is doing this. i cant get enouph of his music. makes me get up and shake it everytime. if you havent bought anything of his do it esspecially the song Home. Must be the water is very much what i expect of marc. i hope he keeps it coming.

Here is what I think happened: After this show,someone handed the board tape over to Marc and his people. "Hey this is pretty good." "Yeah, Marc was in good form tonite" "Yeah, a couple of the cuts are flawed so lets not use those" "What can we do with the remaining ones?" "Lets use them as a fundraiser for the displaced folks in the Katrina aftermath" "Solid." And the ep is very much that. Solid. You are already a M.B. fan. Then buy this for both reasons.

I don't know how to start this. This man can sing! I'm am so moved by his amazing tone. My first favorite from his "come in from the cold" was enough to make me cry. I sometimes sit in my driveway close my eyes and listen to him sing. Gavins Song, Blue Jeans, The beauty of who you are. I can go on and on. And, no I don't know him personally. He makes you wish you did when he sings the Donny Hathaway favorite "I'll love you more than you ever know" Simply outstanding. In Love in Calabasas T Watkins

The bootleg is okay - if you really want to see Marc's talent, get the CARENCRO CD. I love him - he is so talented. I saw him in concert and he does not disappoint.
If you like blues, jazz and soul - you will love Marc Broussard.

I thought this CD was great. The first Marc Broussard song that I heard was actually I live recording, and I was a little disappointed after picking his "Carencro" album to hear that a lot of his songs were more Clay Aiken-ish than bluesy. If you like real blues, buy this record.

Awesome cd for anyone whos a Marc Broussard fan. He really gets into this show.

First of all, I love Marc Broussard. Nothing whatsoever against him. But this ep is a little over 17 minutes long, and contains only 3 songs: Gotta Be More, Just Like That, and My God. Now, just look at that price: Nearly $20 plus shipping. Compare that to Marc's Bootleg to Benefit the Victims of Hurricane Katrina. Over twice as long with 5 songs and can be easily picked up for $6 plus shipping. I'm just saying. Know what you're buying.
