Mario Frangoulis

I walked into the Borders in Kona and heard this incredible voice and immediatly went in search of a clerk who found the last CD on the shelf.
An exciting voice, rich, smooth and passionate. I have purchased and sent it as gifts for weddings, birthdays, etc.

Gr8 collection of songs and lots of energy put into the production of this album. Every song is good, unlike many CD's by artists. Unlike classical tenors, Mario Frangoulis does not sound like he is singing 'operatic pop'. So, buy it and take a listen and see if you agree with my opinion.

Mario should someday become very famous. His knowledge of languages along with his voice will take this young man to great heights. I would like to hear him do a cd of operatic pieces.

Mario is not for the "opera snobs"....his style appeals for lovers of "Cross Over" opera and lighter pieces.....however, his rendition of
"Lucevan Le Stelle" (Sometimes I dream) was so refreshing and romantic....his voice carries you with him as he dreams. I and several of my friends who were recently introduced to Mario, hope that he makes more recordings and I hope he comes to the U.S. and especially to Los Angeles California so that we can enjoy his singing and continue to dream along with him.......Bravo Mario!

Mario Frangoulis has the most magnificent voice. Ihave listened to several male singers in opera and broadway. Mario has them all beat as
we are concerned. We're very anxious for Mario come on tour here in states.

Wow. I was visting friends one day and they were playing this in the background and at first I wasn't paying much attention to it and then it became all but impossible to ignore. I'd never even heard of Mario Frangoulis and here I was breaking my neck to buy the CD. It's simply beautiful and if you want to treat yourself or someone else to a treat for the ears, this is it!

This is an awesome CD. The song Dance was beautiful.
The only drawback is allot of the songs aren't in english.

...however, I found it a little tiring to listen to. 'Sometimes I Dream' is a much better collection of songs by Mario Frangoulis. There seems to be more energy put into the project. So go for the other album first, then augment your collection with 'Follow Your Heart'.

Generally, I do not take quickly to a recording of unfamiliar music, especially when it is in a different language. So, "Follow Your Heart" got off to a slow start with me. However, every time I listen to the recording, I like it better. Perhaps, after I have heard it more and the music becomes more familiar, I will come back and upgrade my 3-star rating.
Frangoulis has an extremely pleasant soft voice. For that reason, my favorite tracks are the "Ave Maria" and "Another World." But, as his volume increases into the forte/fortissimo levels, his voice becomes harsh. This is especially apparent in "Come What May," which starts with some beautiful "pianos," and then gradually climbs in both volume and stridency.
My biggest problem with the recording, however, is that it is over-orchestrated. The accompaniment intrudes on the vocals. I found myself, several times, realizing that I was listening to the accompaniment, rather than to the singer.

I recently purchased this CD thru Amazon. One recent saturday morning I played it while my wife and I had breakfast. We starting listening to this CD we were blown away with Mario's outstanding voice and great song selection on this CD. We were in complete agreement this was one great singer and one CD full of outstanding songs.It starts with songs like Come What may, Follow your heart, AVE Maria a different song from the orginal classic etc.
If there is anyone looking for a perfect CD for all types feelings,please get this one.
I have both of Mario's CD's and he justs keeps getting better. This is one talented singer.This is a must have CD for anyone who loves great singers and great songs.

This is an outstanding recording of a live Boston concert featuring some of music's most notable stars who've generously donated the proceeds of this CD to the homeless. We've got the Usual Suspects, folks like Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger (Hobo's Lullaby) to notable bluesman Keb Mo (Baby, Don't Let me Go Homeless), jazz singer Madeline Peyroux (I Think It's Going to Rain Today), and African womens ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock (Stranger Blues).

"Give US Your Poor" is a generational collection which will have something to appeal to just about everyone in the family. The engineering is above par for a live collection--you don't get a lot of audience feedback which can just sound like static after a while. The cause is definitely worthy. This various artists collection is an overlooked gem that I'd strongly recommend you check out.

Since most Americans consider themselves only two paychecks from sharing the plight of these people , you would think that the problem would garner more attention from local and state offices. This album makes the homeless real, attaching faces and voices to a reality too often ignored. The music is also very well done.

Give us Your Poor CD is well worth buying.The singers are all well known.You will love Mario Frangoulis an international artist with a beautiful tenor voice.Music is taken from a comcert held in Boston Bay area which was a smashing success.

Give Us Your Poor is an album which proceeds go to the direct benefit of the homeless. That noble cause alone could be reason enough to reason enough to but this wonderful CD. If that's not enough than the music on this CD will be. Jim Musselman from the folk label Appleseed has managed to interest some legendary blues men and folkies for this project and got them to team up with some impressive names. Most notably Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. The first teams up with the Migty Sam McClain on the first Bon Jovi recording that really touched me, the second does a duet with the legendary activist and musician Peete Seeger on Hobo's Lullaby. Bonnie Rait and Keb' Mo' are among the other notable contributers.

Intersected with the songs are the stories of the homeless. Real people explaining how they became homeless or the stories of homeless told by famous actors as Tim Robbins, painting a picture of the dilemma that is as complex as the reality out there. Shocking stories of families, working men and children who live out on the streets of America were set to music. These stories are as captivating as the songs duets on this album.

Mario Frangoulis has a magnificent talent. His passion for music is so clear and strong. His voice is strong and warm. Sony needs to promote this man. Oprah needs to invite him on her show and let America meet him. Listen, watch him...you'll agree.

While I agree that Sometimes I Dream is the better cd, there is nothing wrong with this one. It is more approachable for a wider audience & perhaps will bring that audience to Sometimes, a more operatic & stunning cd of great depth. Opera is not always readily heard by a younger audience, so if Follow leads them there, I'm glad. Music, at its best,leads to more music & different music.

Mario follows his heart in picking songs. "Dance" is gorgeous, as are the title track & "Here's To The Heroes". The Sometimes dvd helped me to see that Mario is nothing short of a compassionate, compelling & passionate young man. Unlike Groban- I am a fan of Groban- Mario seems to know who he is, what his gift is, why it's important, & how to deliver it. He commands a stage!

Fellow Groban fans might see in Mario what is lacking in Groban's most recent release- awe inspiring certainty in front of an audience. Having the goods, experience & training may get you on a stage, but you have to know who you are, down to your bones, to command one. Payne is going to explode soon & Groban is Closer; to knowing who he is, I hope.

Mario knows & is there already, so a little exploration of lighter material is allowed. If this cd falls short, it's not by much. Follow Your Heart is an open invitation to follow a trail of excellence. Buy the cds & the dvd- I am thrilled to have done so.

The first album was out of this world. This one is very bad. Mario decided to go Euro-trash pop. The lyrics are fantastic but accompanied by third rate teener-bopper music/arrangements.

He still has as great voice but it is wasted in directions not worthy of him.

There was one song that was memorable. The duet with Alejandro Fernandez. That one was pure butter. It melted my heart and got my inspiration going.

I couldn't help thinking when listening to his latest CD that he wanted to capture the Josh Groban market. I have to admit that I AM NOT a fan of Groban. I simply don't like his voice but I do like his material.

Oh well, I'll wait for a few week for LARA FABIAN's new French release called "9".

When I wrote the review for Mario Frangoulis' first album, I mentioned that I hope Mario would put more 'heart' into the album without making it over-polished. I think Mario has achieved just that - an album which is a great showcase of his voice and emotions. I find the album more 'mature' than the previous one - not too 'showy' but just good songs.

My favourites are his rendition of "Come What May" (ahh, his version can even be used as a wedding song!) and "Hay Mas". I also love "Here's to the Heroes" as I have been a fan of the original music ('John Dunbar Theme' - John Barry's composition for "Dances with Wolves").

Some of the listeners may think that the songs are not operatic or classical enough, but songs are meant to elevate and affect emotions and do not have to be measures of vocal prowess - and I think Mario Frangoulis has done just that - a great second album full of emotions, expressed by a talented singer.

I enjoyed This cd alot. There are some songs on it that I do not like. I think Another World and Here to heros are very nice songs. That have alot of meaning to tham.

A GREAT VOICE AND EXCELLENT CHOICE OF SONGS. FOLLOW YOUR HEART IS VERY INSPIRING AND BEAUTIFUL. EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL SONGS ARE HERE'S TO THE HEROES, DANCE AND BRIDGE OF DREAMS.
