Mario Winans

I heard this cd on this site last week and I didn't know that he did an album in 1997!!! Funny how this cd is better than "hurt no more", and the r&b style fits today's music!!! A must have for r&b fans and for the people who like to roll to the beach with the top down!!

After reading the other reviews I expected alot more from this CD. The tracks were great but I didn't think the vocals were very strong considering the family he's from. The mood of the CD was kind of sad. Just my opinion.

I first saw him in his mothers video, then I saw him in his video. Then I saw him on sat. doing this interview. I love his charm, his sensitivity, his honesty. his gift and love of that beautiful piano., also his big bold eyes with all that expression. Whenever I hear the begining of his video I drop what Im doing and lock onto him . I float away with him, I can really feel him in my heart. God has truly unveiled a Black Man with spiritual power and lyrics. He is just coming up on the front to connect with those who can hear the Word. God is using soft love to bring down the enegy that is trying to take over our minds and hearts. Sit down and listen, and you will know what i am saying. Mario I send to you my heart. I have had this CD since 1998 and it is the best! I picked up because I liked the first song (interlude). I have been in love with it ever since. Mario was doing his thing before Bad Boy, but the CD didn't get its props. I am anxious to hear his entire new CD. Based on the song they play on the radio "I don't wanna know" sounds like his still has that touch. If you do not have this CD, don't hesitate to get it!

This CD was given to me in 1997 and it has been my ALL TIME FAVORITE since then! The story of my heart is held close to my heart and I recommend this cd every chance that I can get. I can't wait for the new cd to drop. Anyone looking for a cd that will move you should buy this cd now. It will make you a believer in the talent of Mario Winans. You will be a fan for life!

I can't find those CDs in Spain, o if I do, they are too much expensive, so, this is fantastic. The CD is very good. I love the feeling Mario Winams have.

R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Mario Winans sophomore album was "Hurt No More" (2004) a seventeen track release which featured guest appearances from P. Diddy, Enya, Slim of 112, Loon, Foxy Brown & Black Rob. Winans lead single on this release was the outstanding "I Don't Wanna Know" feat. P.Diddy & Enya, those familiar with Hip Hop will remember the beat being one the Fugees used for another excellent track in "Ready Or Not" on the "The Score", the original sample came from Enya (Boadicea) who is credited on this release. Winans soulful singing, and Diddy's simple but effective rhymes worked on this highlight track. Sitting in the late night and reviewing this release, is an enjoyable experience as the album is full of laid back music and vibes well, Winans has got distinct vocals which make him easy to identify, while his production is on point throughout. It's nice to see an artist who can sing and craft his own beats with success. On the "Ready For Love" (Interlude) Winans sings to a lady wishing she had shared her feelings, instead of leading him on. Winans keeps the same theme going on the follow up track "Never Really Was" a track about having ones heart played with. Another memorable track is "You Knew", a standout collaboration with 112 singer Slim, with both artist's singing about being let down in love. Backed by some more outstanding production, Winans collaborates with rapper and former labelmate Loon on "How I Made It". Another interlude follows, then Mario Winans provides more stellar contributions on "3 Days Ago", missing a love and realizing she's gone on "What's Wrong With Me". Another on point track is "Can't Judge Me", feeling the instrumental, and Winans heartfelt vocals. The next couple of track's could have been left off the release. "Disbelief" is more or less filler for me. The "Enough" (Interlude) has Winans catching his women being trife. Female MC Foxy Brown makes an average appearance on a forgettable track in "Pretty Girl ********". "This Is The Thanks I Get" is mediocre, the highlight being a late appearance from Black Rob. Winans provides a laidback love ballad with "I Got You Babe", one of those tracks which has grown on me with more listens. Winans show his love for his woman backed by some mellow production on "So Fine". "Should've Known" is more or less similar to earlier tracks without being as catchy. The slow paced closer is "Turn Around". I think one thing this release could have benefited from was more upbeat track's, Winans has a lot of tracks about being the aggrieved party, more time could of been spent on creating love ballads. For those looking for some new music by Winans I highly recommend checking out "Through The Pain (She Told Me)" the best track on Diddy's latest album "Press Play". While "Hurt No More" does have some filler material, the standout track's make it a memorable release.

I had never heard of this artist until someone gave me the CD. I started to listen to it, and liked it so much I wanted more music by him. Thank goodness I didn't read these reviews first. I would have assumed his music was bad.

I think he has an awesome voice. The music is not too slow and has a nice beat. And there is nothing wrong with singing about heartbreak. I would prefer that over some of the dirtier lyrics out there. That is what musicians do. They sing about what is going on in their lives. It's alot better then cookie cutter songs made to do nothing more then please a crowd. I prefer to listen to music with substance.

Mario Winans comes from a family full of musicians. As the son of gospel singer Vickie Winans, Mario has been around music all of his life. His family is the most legendary gospel family to ever enter the music industry. He was also signed to one of the most successful records labels of our time, Bad Boy Records. Sean "Diddy" Combs is a world renowned music producer who has more hits than you can shake a stick at. These facts went through my mind as I listened to Mario's debut album, "Hurt No More", and I just do not understand why his first LP is so horrible. There is absolutely nothing memorable about it. To put it plainly, this album sounds rushed and definitely lacks substance and quality. To make matters worse, this album is focused on a man getting his heart broken, so his lyrics are negative.

"Never Really Was" is a lazy track. The lyrics, production and vocals are all subpar. The chorus is alright, but the song as a whole, I can take it or leave it, and leave it is looking stronger than take it. "Pretty Girl" is anohter example of how weak this album is. This song is about a woman who puts her man through hell, and thinks she can get away with it because she's pretty. Foxy is the only decent sound on this bad song. "You Knew" is the worst song on this lackluster album. It's terrible! It features Slim from 112, and since he and Mario Winans both have whiny voices, it makes this song practically unlistenable. The words "you knew" are repeated throughout the song and it does nothing but irritate the listener. "I Don't Waana Know" was this album's only release. This song is OK. I never really liked it while the radio stations were playing it, and I'm still not crazy about it. This song is about a man not wanting to know if he is being cheated on because it would hurt him too much.

I don't suggest anyone pick this album up, not even Diddy/Bad Boy fans because Diddy usually does a better job than this. But now that I think about it, he was getting his clothing line started and doing many other things when this album was released, so next time he should put some things on the back burner and focus on his artist so he can create the quality work he is infamous for.

Honestly, I wish I would've read the reviews online before purchasing this album. The only half-way good song is "I don't wanna know" all the rest are pretty much sad, sappy, whining, songs that speak about him being "played." At least he could've whinned and sang about other stuff other than being hurt (like Keith Sweat). After all, the title of the cd is "Hurt No More" and all he does is whine about being hurt. Does not sound like the hurt is gone and neither does this album deserve a good review. Please save yourself money and time, this one is a drag.

This is a good album. I think Mario did a great job as did all the musicians surrounding him. The songs are all pretty good. I especially like "I Don't Wann Know", "3 Days Ago", and "Pretty Girl BS". It may not be the newest innovation within the music world, but it is a great album. 4 stars.

What would Mario have done on this one had there been no Enya backing track? Whose idea was this, Mario's or Diddy's? I have a few of Enya's c.d.'s - I know what she's about. The lyrics on this song are for ten year olds....How old is Mario????

I personally love this song. I love the music, I love the voice (and Enya's signature sound) and I love lyrics. I basically love everything about it. It's always been a favourite of mine and I'm glad that I now have the instrumental version too, because it's always great listening to gorgeous songs in their basic form. I don't love the Foxy Brown version, but I can skip that. So overall, I gave this 5 stars because it's so beautiful and it's great to hear a guy singing about being worried that he's the one being cheated on rather than a girl singing about it. It's nice to turn the majority of tables around.
Mario's entire cd was also great, but this is always going to be the best song from Hurt No More. I hope he doesn't become a one hit wonder. This shows he has major talent and I hope he releases some new music soon.

I like the sample track, I could listen to that without the words. The words mean nothing to me, just like most songs today, and P. Diddy didn't bother me either. Good song to hear on the road. Not as bad as some others I've heard!

This song sucks. Just a bunch of whining and whimpering and being in denial. Repeating the same trite chorus over and over and over again. It's soooo annoying! Whoever told Mario Winans that he could sing told him a bold faced lie. Enough already!
