Like smooth velvet, Martina's voice is a crown jewel. Only Martina could make a "traditional" christmas albums songs sound new again. The songs are the old tired christmas favorites, but her voice brings them to life.
Big surprise on this album was her duet with Bing Crosby on "Baby it's cold outside". So sultry and so suggestive. I could go on and on.

love this cd by martina, so much so, this was the 2nd one i bought, so i gave it as a gift.

Nothin' can go wrong with Martina McBride...Her Vocals Are Awesome!! She can sing the Yellow Pages and make it sound awesome.

It took awhile to get to me, but was in great condition. It's a lovely cd and I'm glad to have it.

I have always loved to listen to Martina McBrides music. This is just another awesome Cd by her.

I didn't see this movie until several years after it had been released, but I immediately fell in love with it. And one reason was the songs. But by the time I went looking for the soundtrack, it was long out of print and therefore very expensive. But when Disney rereleased it, I bought it as soon as I could.

There are two main reasons I wanted to get it - "One More Sleep 'til Christmas" as sung by Kermit and "It Feels Like Christmas" by the Ghost of Christmas Present. Both songs are warm and rich as they share about the joys of Christmas. Frankly, either work outside of the movie. I'm surprised I haven't seen more people covering them.

And there are a couple of songs that work well in the context of the movie, too. "Scrooge" is a wonderful introduction to the character. As sung by the cast, it tells us exactly what we need to know about the main character. "Marley and Marley" is surprisingly funny considering it's one of the scarier moments of the traditional story. But it gets the point across with some humor.

And, like all soundtracks, there are several instrumental pieces. I count 6 of the 18 tracks. Scattered throughout, they really do invoke the feel of the movie even if you aren't watching it.

Two of the tracks, "Room in Your Heart" and "Chairman of the Board" were cut by the time I saw the movie. Frankly, they are my least favorite tracks here, probably because I never saw them in any context.

This will be yet another honored part of my Christmas music collection for years to come. If you like the movie, get it before it disappears again.

This is a great product and almost impossible to find anywhere else. I grew up watching this movie, and have been looking for the soundtrack for years and haven't been able to find it in any stores, so when I found it here it was great.

This has become a Christmas favorite in my home as well as it making a great gift to give. Love it

Martina McBride has to be one of the most powerful voices in the music business. This woman can give me goose bumps because is so awesome! She is labeled as country but anybody that appreciates music and talent will see what I mean. She is right up there with Whitney Houston Celine Dion, Mirah Carey. I don't necessarily like all of their music but you'd have to be a fool not to get chills while listening! Listen to the words, they tell stories, real life, look beyond the music, just listen. Independence Day is one of these songs. If you are skeptical, this would be the album for you to buy. Trust me it's worth it you won't be dissapointed unless you can't appreciate true talent. I think she should sing the national anthem at the superbowl!!!

this is her greatest hits , her greatest album ever , all i can say is its worth every penny so buy it !!!

I purchased my copy on sale, the original cost is $3.00 more than the normal non-eco friendly CD with the plastic case. I was dissapointed that it did not have the liner notes and it seems to be just a CD in box...no thrills. Looking back if this was not on sale for $3.00 cheaper than the normal non-eco friendly CD I would have been very disappointed.

Independence day is by far my favorite song on this album...this is a girl album all the way...

If you like Martina's major radio hits then you will enjoy this CD. Highly recommend.

This is a great DVD of Martina live in concert. She is adorable how can anyone not love her? Not only do you get to watch her sing 20 songs live, but you also get to watch a bit of her fun and playful personality which you don't often get a chance to see.

The only downside to this, and the reason I gave this package deal four stars instead of five was due to the CD. There are only eight songs on the CD version, which is a bit disappointing. Had they put four or five more tracks on the Live CD it would have been superb. With only eight tracks it's just too short.

Even so, this is still a great chance to see Martina live concert with one of the best seats in the house. This DVD/CD package is highly recommended to not only die hard fans, but all people who want to see what Martina is really all about, or are just looking for something fun and entertaining to watch.

No matter what Martina can always be counted on to bring the house down with her stellar vocal performances, and this DVD shows she is still one of the best in the business. Don't hesitate to buy this DVD/CD package, all and all it's a fantastic deal!

I must admit that I've only heard a few of her hits prior to purchasing this CD/DVD. I had very little clue on what to expect from this. In overall, I felt that the performance was good but short of being phenomenal. Unlike some DVDs that I bought in the past, this didn't make me desire for more of her performances. Martina McBride, without a doubt is a great singer/artist. I believe she deserves a DVD that captures the mind blowing performances she deliver. This DVD just lack something.

That apart, the DVD could've been better if there was bonus content and so forth. Also, the CD has just a mere number of tracks, 7 to be particular. Could have done better by making it to at least 10 tracks.

Nobody could ever cast stones at her voice -- probably the most powerful, double-octave voice in contemporary Country. In the past, her albums have often been uneven. With the exception of TIMELESS and GREATEST HITS, too many of her albums featured "B-sides." Whatever she performed, though, always sounded committed and passionate.

Here, in this mind-blowing two-disk set, Martina opens an entirely new phase of her career with an extended live performance recorded last year in the Quad Cities. The set list is beautiful, with cuts from WAKING UP LAUGHING and her very best material from the past 15 years or so. Her back-up band is stellar, as well as her stage art direction, lighting and video. Except for Springsteen and the Stones, I have never seen such passion and energy on a stage. While, at times, the voice breaks or slides off pitch, it doesn't matter, because her voice and delivery radiate conviction.

The opener is my favorite -- ANYWAY -- in which the singer encourages the audience to surmount fears and self doubt in life and love and go for their dreams "anyway." It's not an easy pitch in such a bleak world, but her songs are healing and uplifting. Her pace never flags; and while she often drives her voice to the edge, the edge works, and the audience is beyond captivated.

This affordable 2-disc set includes a CD of 8 live, audiophile-quality performances which at roughly 32 minutes -- are a little short on time. The DVD, however, includes her full GREAT PERFORMANCES broadcast, and it is worth the price of the set alone. You simply won't be able to hit the PAUSE button.

One final note, because neither men nor women will fail to notice it. The singer is quite beautiful, but in a wholesome way. In a prurient world such as ours, that's really refreshing. This powerhouse set proves that fewer releases with a greater concentration of top-rank material will help spread the word about Martina McBride to more music-lovers. Without question, this lady will be around for awhile, and we are lucky to have her.

I'm not a big Country fan, and only saw this program while flipping thru the TV stations. I hit on this concert when I got to PBS. It was "Great Performances". That was an under-statement! I may still not be a great Country fan, but I am a Martina McBride fan. What a voice, and her band is really something that needs to be heard, especially the leads. I went back into my computer to find who that was, and I purchased the DVD/CD on the spot. This is a Great Performance.

I am not sure I can come up with anything that has not already been said, but I wanted to add another number and another 5 star rating to an absolutely MUST SEE AND HEAR THIS CONCERT!!!!! Martina McBride's persormance is totally awesome in this concert. Great selection of songs . . . . . .

This is missing so many great hits...couldn't they have made it 30 greatest hits??? Very disappointing. I love everything she has but I would've expected more songs and better songs than in this mix. Where's 'Broken Wing' for example??

This CD is breathtaking. I was never a big country music fan...more of a "Today's Country" fan. Either way, Martina was fantastic on this CD. I happened to see her live not long after I got it, and it made me appreciate the concert a lot more having had a chance to hear the new songs before I went.

Let me preface this by saying that this was the first Martina McBride album I ever bought. I have since bought a few of her earlier albums. 'Waking Up Laughing' is an album that is very pleasant and endearing to listen to over-all, but in spots the lyrics are downright clutsy. I am not quite sure why some country artists feel the need to reaffirm their faith in God in songs to the general public--can't we figure that out for ourselves? She is sweet and she is good and all that but somehow I can't get around the fact that she has to spell that out so often. Martina works the same sort of material, in the same vein as Patty Loveless, but Patty did it in a way that does not make you feel below her-- she's just one of us. Martina's voice is beautiful, but I think it may have dropped half-an-octave. She sounds like she is pushing it a bit on many songs. I do, however, recommend this album.

Martina McBride sang a song titled Anyway and this has fit right in my life. I have been through so much in my life from my past to the present and at times it is difficult to live with DEPRESSION. The good lord above has dealt me quite a bit in life but for some reason he thinks I was a person to take it all. In my past a person just left my life, no reason or explanation was given to me, through the years I have lost people due to death and then living in this world today at not being 100 percent happy ,but chose to move to another state after 31 years is insane. Though i have been through so much of good times and sad times, tough times, I have not given up with my faith in the lord. I pray everyday and several times and hope that I continue to be blessed. I just do it anyway . Thank you Martina

Martina McBride has an amazing, beautiful, strong voice. But I did not like this album at all. It was so formulaic and commercial sounding that it was almost insulting to her audiences' intelligence.
There were one or two decent songs but that was about it. Strangely, there was one song that had this upbeat, happy feel, but it was about a very sad, dark subject matter and felt very odd.
I love her voice and I'm sure she's a good person with a big heart but I put this one away and won't ever listen to it again.
I'll listen to some music samples next time she releases another one.

Fantastic country music by a great country artist. This is a must- have CD for Martina fans.

This collection of cover songs is such a welcome change of direction from Martina, who always tends to ride the country/pop fence. Martina does a great job of breathing new air into old classics. If you enjoyed the original recordings of these songs, you should enjoy this album. My favorite off of this album is her remake of Sammi Smith's "Help Me Make It Through the Night."

Simply exquisite, Martina in perfect melody and definitely one of my favorite CD's.

One of the best CD's that we own. Great songs and great singer. Satin Sheets and Help Me Make It Thru The Night are awesome. Martina is truely one of a kind. Great bargain - 18 Timeless Country songs.

I love Martina McBride. I went to her recent concert and loved it. I love most of the song on her cd. If you're a fan definitely worth it.

I just bought this [...] this morning, and I'm telling you right now, this is the best CD Martina McBride has done since her first one. She almost makes you forget that these classic songs were originally done by other singers. I know of nobody else who would be able to handle Connie Smith's 1964 hit "Once A Day" so well.
Another thing, this CD is actually Country (I mean the "real" thing) and it's really great to see how Martina handles the real stuff.
Buy this one if you're a Martina McBride fan... or if you're a fan of REAL Ccountry Music like it was back in the day!
As I said, I loved Martina anyway, but after this CD, I have a whole new respect for her and her music.

Martina Mcbride has an absolutely beatuful voice--as she shows on "Over the Rainbow." Unfortunately, however, the majority of the songs that she chose for "Martina" are way too shmalzy for my taste. I much prefer some of her earlier releases like "The Way That I Am."

I liked the single okay -- a glossy but propulsive gal-power anthem called "This One's For The Girls" -- but with the exception of a tune or two, the rest of this album is really just a bit much. Her soul-styled glissandos are a real turnoff, particularly on tracks like "How Far" and "When You Love Me," and almost every song on here is horribly overwritten, and horribly over-obvious. All these songs about Everywoman and Everywoman's interior monologues and self-helpy struggle for self-affirmation... Geez, louise... Doesn't anyone in Nashville still believe in just writing catchy, twangy little songs that the folks at home can can sing along to and enjoy? That's the stuff I like, and the stuff that's kept me interested in Country for over thirty years... not all this high-concept glitziness and the big, loud pop arrangements.

This is one of McBride's most "pop" albums, and her newer fans will probably love it... This is pretty much along the same lines as her other recent work. But there's little here to please an old-fashioned country fan like me. (Axton)

Martina Mcbride maybe has the best voice of her generation, so versatile and so powerful. But only the powerful is not enough, Martina also shows great talent as a songwriter. In her songs, Martina always concerns love and problem in our life, like Concrete Angel in her greatest hit, like many in this album, especially, In My Daughter's Eyes.
Martina is really a good person and especially a good mother, unlike Britney Spears or Paris Hilton, Martina should always be a great role model to say when talking with our future generations.

In my humble opinion, this is the BEST single album by Martina McBride. I have a preference for songs that are positive, upbeat, and inspirational and of all of her recordings, I think this one fits the bill. There are some real highpoints on this recording including her "live" rendition of "Over the Rainbow." THIS LADY CAN SING!

I love this cd. No scratches, however case was broken. But that's not a big deal.

I had this CD once before and it was scratched in
my motorcycle saddlebag. Glad to get the replacement
and what a way to travel on a motorcycle by listening
to gospel songs.

This is a pretty decent cd. The music is beautifully done and it is awesome. It might be a little slow, but it is relaxing. there is only one song i really liked on this cd and it is, Wich Of Couse, Amazing Grace.

This Cd is awesome I've had it for quite some time. Shenandoah does one of my fav versions of Beulah Land. A blessing everytime I listen to it......STILL!

I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to hear "Amazing Grace" any other way but slow. Lari White sings it beautifully, with reverence. That's the way most of these tracks are. The females are the highlight. Lari White, Martina McBride, Susan Ashton, Allison Krause, and of course Emmylou. The production values are better than you can find on any country gospel album. I think Martina McBride's "How Great Thou Art" is being played on loudspeaker at the pearly gates for eternity. I'm not overly religious or emotional, but this album sooths my soul and brings a tear to my eye.

Beautiful Christmas Album of music we all know, sung by a lady with a beautiful voice. Martina is as usual-----at her best. This is a good one you will want to bring out every year to enjoy during the Holidays.

This is a really good Christmas CD. It will truly get you into the Christmas spirit. I think this CD is one of the best Christmas CDs out there. Great performance, Martina!

Now, just because Martina McBride sings country music doesn't mean this cd is in any way country - It's not. It's a great classic Christmas cd with all the classic Christmas songs! Martina sounds amazing on classic songs such as "Do you hear what I hear", "Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow", as well as "Away In A Manger". My personal favourite though is "Silent Night" - one of my favourite Christmas songs, and Martina makes it sound like a beautiful lullaby. A great cd to listen to by the fire while wrapping presents!

I was looking for a Christmas CD - and I needed to look no further than this CD. My husband does not care for "country" music - and even he enjoyed it! It has music you've heard of - not like some of those compilation CD's. I recommend this CD to anyone who wants to hear good Christmas music.

I think this is the best Christmas album I've ever purchased. Every song is beautiful.
