Josh has an amazing voice in English or Spanish - We were so impressed with his version of You Raise Me Up that we had our soloist use it for my Dad's funeral. Each of his CD's gives me goosebumps when I listen to them for his use of classical style with modern lyrics and the soulful depth of his voice. Enjoy!

Josh groban sings so amzing. I am his biggest fan ever, and I love this cd, closer. It shows his ability to sing very well and I love his song called confession. He sings that song very well. I also love songs, in her eyes and so she dances. Becides being very cute his voice maches his looks + better. He is so amazing! I highly recamend this cd

The best things about vocal music is the instrument never lies. You cannot cover up mistakes, you cannot hide amateur style with technical flair. The same can be said for the occasional virtuoso. The virtuoso can make someone hear what they feel like they normally would not enjoy, and do it with style. Josh Groban delivers a style unlike those of his typical pop counterparts, and does it with elegance.

Suppose you take the operatic style of say, Andrea Bocelli, and mix it with pop instrumentation styles (keeping with the orchestral traditional style). Some have tried this and succeeded i.e. Boyz 2 Men, and others took it to a further extreme by lighting up the stage with a traditional operatic style mixed with popular music lyrics i.e. Il Divo. Josh Groban does the same with this album.

At only 22 years of age, this album bridges the gap between a two styles of music where both sides have been in a continuous battle since Elvis Presley first shook his hips on stage in front of a national television audience. Those who listen to classical opera often seem haughty and distainful to those who listen to pop, who look uneducated and "lower class" to those who listen to classical. This album, while it isn't the first to use both styles as one element, certainly is the one which can be used as a starting off point to come to a common ground.

Key tracks on this album are "You Raise Me Up," "Oceano," and "Mi Mancherai." With another virtuoso Joshua Bell accompanying Josh Groban, I can't help but wonder if a full collaboration will ever be considered. I certainly hope so, and look forward to hearing more.

They are calling it Neo-classical. It's the classically trained voice, singing with some "pop" quality, and singing newer compositions including modern instruments.

Josh Groban has a fabulous singing voice, and the selection of songs on this recording is nearly flawless. I love the fact that he is helping to bridge the gap between "pop" and "art" musics.

Some night long ago, I was watching television and the commercial for this cd came on - Groban was singing "Oceano" throughout and, simple as that, I was addicted. Though filled with songs that are in Italian, French, and some other languages I can't reasonably understand the lyrics in given my history with language classes, I love the cd.
Any fan of Groban's will love this CD, and songs like "Remember when it Rained" will draw in a new round of fans.

I am a huge MJ fan and I love collecting his CDs , books , DVDs , etc . This was good to add to the collection (: If you are a big Michael Jackson fan and collect all the singles and all the re-releases you will love this. MUST - HAVE for any real King of Pop fan ; D

This album should really get two ratings, one for the actual MJ album, and the other for the remixes.

Nothing needs to be said about Thriller. It's Thriller, and it's fantastic. Enough said.

The remixes however... are some of the worst garbage released on a major record label... ever. Fergie attempting to sing Beat It is absolutely painful. The Kanye version of Billie Jean is nothing but the original song slowed down with a sloppy beat overdubbed. I'm not even going to speak of the Akon track. Seriously, these "bonus" tracks are criminally bad. I can only assume that their presense on the album is a mistake, and they should be listened to only for comedic value.

I rememeber when Thriller first came out and every one was in it to it.I for one must say that some of the songs are good but as whole album it falls flat.If you want a great Michael Jackson album from start to finish I would highly recommend his best album period:Off THe Wall!!! Off The Wall was on the billboard hot 100 albun charts for like 8 years!!!! what does that tell you? Thriller was on there for maybe a year tops.Off The Wall sold 10 million records and 10 million tapes.I say download maybe PYT and Human Nature from I-Tunes.Thriller got old for me real quick and the songs get real tiresome.I real over rated album.Off the Wall on the other hand,every song is great from start to finish.The songs from Off THe Wall still hold up well today.

I bought this CD for my boyfriend, who absolutely loves it. It contains all the hits we know from MJ. Great collection, good for someone who wants a compilation of MJ without having to buy too many CDs.

This is a great album for Michael Jackson's best hits. There was only one problem that really annoyed me: it sounds like they tweaked the beginning of "Thriller." Instead of the usual "footsteps" intro, it starts with a synthetic-sounding version of the opening trumpet fanfare. Honestly, that ruined the whole song for me. I can't believe no one else has mentioned this...

Before he was Whacko Jacko, he was a brilliant musical star, a man who revolutionized expectations of what a recording artist could do. Michael Jackson had a moment of star-crossed genius when he (along with a dream team that included Quincy Jones, among others) recorded Thriller, an album to this day is a benchmark of how pop can be both immaculate and stunning at the same time.

What happened after is stuff of legend. Michael Jackson became a man obsessed...not just the tabloid crap that dominates his legacy, but with topping his best work. The evidence here is that he often touched moments for pure brilliance ("Man in The Mirror," "Black and White") but also trapped himself into self-repetition ("Dirty Diana" aping "Beat It" and "Billie Jean"). There are also moments when Jackson's self proclaimed hype made the songs into self-parody ("Your butt is mine...?" from the squeaky clean Bad). He at times seemed so desperate to shatter expectations that he seemed tone-deaf to what his audience expected or what his limits could be, like the controversial crotch grabbing/property smashing coda to the original "Black and White" video.

Since "Number Ones" is presented in chronological order, you can also hear how Jackson starts to short circuit by the time he gets past the Dangerous period. "You Are Not Alone" is the last really good song on this CD, and there are five more left. (I'm counting the superfluous live rendition of "Ben.") "Earth Song" is trite, and the material from Invincible sounds forced, almost desperate. From a lesser R&B singer, they would have been passable, but from a man who once contractually demanded that anyone who wanted face-time with the star refer to him as "The King of Pop," second tier didn't cut it.

However, when you listen to those songs that made Jackson a super-nova....the insistent dance-pop of "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough," the driving paranoia of "Billie Jean," the snarling "Smooth Criminal" and just the memory of Jackson moon walking, you can forgive him for a lot of his indiscretions.

This is what I was looking for from Mike... It's not Thriller but it's close. If Mike didn't get weird on people then he would of out sold the Beetles by now in total volume. But, he is still one of the greatest....

it seems like the good old days are gone,I met some very nice girls when this album came out.

I only wish that Michael Jackson, Epic/Sony would release this album with the original artwork featuring Michael Jackson's face (when he was black and before his nose surgeries) and his nice afro. I fortunately bought this CD in 1991 which featured the original artwork of a handsome young man. It is just a shame what has happened to his appearance.

I got this from the company when I worked there, I opened it and I played it and the sound was so bad I took it out and broke it in half and melted it with the microwave and drained it, I kept the case because I have a copy thats missing the case, so its worth buying if u have an old one missing the case.

as far as michael jackson goes this is a pretty good cd set. it covers his career with the jackson 5 and his solo career. all the songs i like from michael jackson are on this set so i'm happy with it.

but looks can be deceiving. I suppose it's understandable that devoted fans of Michael Jackson would automatically assign 5 stars to a release with two discs from Epic/Legacy (Sony) containing 38 tracks and, admittedly, one of the better pictures of him taken before things started to droop.

And, certainly, it delivers quite a package in terms of his biggest hits as a solo artist. However, in view of the fact he had close to 50 of those, why did they feel it necessary to include seven tracks from his days as part of The Jackson 5/The Jacksons? (these are tracks 1 to 3, 7 to 9 and 14 on disc 1). It's not as if there aren't already enough compilations covering that aspect of his career from the same distributors!

In taking that approach they omitted some significant solo efforts such as I Wanna Be Where You Are (# 2 R&B/# 16 Hot 100 in 1972), Just A Little Bit Of You (# 4 R&B/# 23 Hot 100 in 1975), Jam (# 3 R&B/# 26 Hot 100 with Heavy D in 1992); Scream (# 2 R&B/# 5 Hot 100 in 1995 with Janet), and They Don't Care About Us (# 10 R&B/# 30 Hot 100 in 1996). The added omission of the late 1983 # 1 Hot 100 (for 6 weeks) and # 2 R&B duet with Paul McCartney, Say Say Say, is simply due to the fact that that came out on Columbia, and this covers mostly his Epic releases (although some Motown cuts are here as well).

The 8-page fold-out insert also has plus and minuses. On the plus side is the discography and sessionography of the contents covering four full pages and, on the reverse, the four pages of photographs showing him performing, including a kind of neat one of a very young Michael decked out in a suit and fedora holding onto a lamp post which, of course, will conjure up memories of Frank Sinatra. But I think a couple of those pages could have been sacrificed in order to extend the rather meagre one page of liner notes, written by the noted author/music critic Nelson George.

It's a very good compilation that could just as easily have been turned into an excellent one.

This cd was the bomb and i love both disks! Even the one with the group on it. "Blame it on the Boogie" is my number one song. I love to dance and i get down on that song. Great condition..I love it and thanks again.

This is an excellant product for those of us who grew up with Michael Jackson. The selections take you from his years with Jackson 5 up until the present.

Arrived in great condition and got it at a fraction of the cost. I have played it over and over and over and it sounds just like new each time.

If you enjoyed the movie, now enjoy the music. Great complilation of songs from the motion picture soundtrack. A worthy add to anyone who enjoyed the movie as well as good music.

The CD was delivered timely. The sound quality is excellent. Sounds as though I'm in the theatre watching the movie.

Jennifer Hudson's booming voice makes it worth the price of the CD. If you saw the movie listening to the CD is almost like reliving the movie.

This is simply a must have for all Michael Jackson fans. Especially for those that do not currently own any of his albums but would like an almost complete set. Truely great.

When i heard about all Michael jackson's songs together in a lovely box set together with a review book it was a must. I tried all over Ireland to get it and failed all the time. Thankfully to Amazon i recieved it. I put all disc's into my stereo and pressed shuffel and off i went dancing and singing. If you are a huge fan of his music well this is the one for you. No messing, No fuss rooting for disc's. They are all together just looking at you so go on play them all. Easy peasie lemon squeezie

If you're a Michael Jackson fan, you probably have at least two or more greatest hits compilations, but this one is truly a must have.
Packed with all the amazing hits including many from the Jackson 5 and Jacksons era, also delivering a good number of previously unreleased tracks and original demos that any fan would more than appreciate (The demo from 'We Are the World' it's impossible to find and simply brilliant).

The booklet itself is amazing, superb pictures and lots of info. Plus the Bucharest concert, if you don't have it already then here it is.

You could say whatever you wanna say about Michael but you can't deny the man's music is infectious. Yes, it has gone down the drain a bit lately with his last couple of releases. But you'd need a tight compilation like this to remind you of why the man was once historical and why there's still a chance for him to reconquer his throne. I'm one of the first to say that I'd love to see him evolve musically at this point in his career. I'm not sure that's a risk he's willing to take though. But I feel it's so urgently needed for his career to explode again. At this point it wouldn't hurt to try.
What prevents me from giving this compilation a 5 star rating is that it's missing some of his best tracks such as Earth Song and Scream. How were they not included?! And yes, it's great that some of the Jackson 5 songs were dropped in but how about I'll be there?! Otherwise this is a great compilation worth obtaining for your music collection!

I was looking into getting the 25yr Anniversary edition but I did'nt care too much for the remixes so I did my research and found this album. It has all my favorites of Michael and at a very good price. I always wanted a Michael Jackson album and Im happy to say that this album is all it could be. Very happy with purchase.

I am a huge Michael Jackson fan and I have always been one. I always purchase his albums. This one was a little confusing for me, because it was already released as part of 1995's "History" album. He should of reissued a remastered album of Disc 2. But this is a keeper because it does include all of the hits such as Billie Jean,Black Or White,Rock With You,Bad and many many more.

There are several Michael Jackson compilations out there from Sony, but this is the one you need to have. 15 of the greatest tracks Michael has written and/or recorded here at your disposal. It truly is the perfect retrospective of Michael's four main Sony albums. Sure, there are important tracks missing, such as "Say Say Say," "Off The Wall," and "Dirty Diana," but the drive and power of the ones that are there more than make up for any omissions. I'd recommend this album to anyone who is just starting to like Michael's music; it's the perfect way to "get your feet wet" in the massive ocean that is his music catalogue.

This is Jumaane, not Monet. Anyway, this album was so great that I lost it and I'm bout to buy it again. I like EVERY song except one (black or white) Every other song is my favorite. Don't let Michael's reputation overshadow his music! This is one amazing singer. Who else can sell 51 million copies to date on one album! Most people don't sell that many in a career. Even though I'm only 14, I'm tired of cheap music too. I'm an old head! Buy this album along with Teena Marie and you'll have all the music you'll need!

Five years later he was back with one of the most sonically spotless albums of the decade. That's not a detriment, but "Bad" does sound a lot more mechanical than "Thriller," to some degree because it's so darn consistent. And yeah, consistency is good, especially when you're consistently excellent, but "Thriller" wasn't the best-selling album ever because of consistency. "Thriller" had a spookfest, the most paranoid song in pop history, and a rock anthem. "Bad" has a very macho title track, but it never pushes any limits, playing it safe with songs where the message shaves off a lot of the danceability--which is a huge part of the attraction, since this is a pop record if ever there was one. That isn't to say there isn't some really good stuff here: his duet with Stevie Wonder is terrific, even if it's nothing new and looks remarkably tame in comparison to something like "Billie Jean." "Another Part of Me" sounds solid, and it's got a stellar groove; "Man in the Mirror" is gentle and straightforward, and all the more powerful for it. And yeah, "Smooth Criminal" is pretty smooth, and "Liberian Girl" is a small gem, but the only song that's aggressively bound-pushing enough to live up to Michael's reputation is "Dirty Diana," which is pretty rough and tough. It definitely isn't bad, it has some thrilling moments, but there's no way it's a "Thriller."

I purchased this item on 10/25/08 and now it is 11/25/08 and I still haven't received my merchandise. I will never purchase used items again.

Michael Jackson came out with The Bad album and also The Bad Tour he is an amazing performer. And these songs are as good as thriller. Just good friends a duet with Stevie Wonder nice combination:). Dirty Diana is another favorite of mine so rock and r and b I love it! the way you make me feel my favorite as well it is romantic as he persues a girl in the video and doesn't take no for an answer :) that's Michael for you lol:). I would buy this album even if you are not a fan of MJ you become one after this album:).

i LOVE all of these songs and this is a great reminder of my childhood and i can't stop listening to the fun, energized bonus tracks. the background information between bonus tracks is not something i necessarily would want to listen to over and over, but it might be informative for some. Terrific album.

The more I listen to this album the more I love it. "Liberian Girl" must be one of the most under appreciated songs of the century. There's so much emotion on it. He wrote it in 1983 but it didn't appear until this album.
Most of these songs are up tempo. The best are Smooth Criminal, Just Good Friends, and Another Part of Me.
