Ministry of Sound

I really enjoy this album. It has a lot of techno and hard rock songs. I dont know if people realize, that this is the background music, when they are watching the movie. I was able to picture the scenes in my mind as the different songs came on which I thought was good. Most of time you can not figure out what song was playing where. I am very happy with the album. It is upbeat and fast paced all the way through.

Where the hell did that come in? Does this have something to do with copyrights? Oh, and the soundtrack sounds 90s as hell. And that's a good thing.

This film was amazing, and the soundtrack innovative for the time of the film's release.

David Bowie penned the title-ish track "Real Cool World". Which is both, out of touch with the film, and also soothing and a nice juxtaposition to the insanity held within the film.

You can usually find this album for fairly little money, and it's well worth the purchase. I've never actually seen the film itself, but it does not have a good reputation, even as a cult film. Not so for this soundtrack, which plays a lot like somebody's personal mix tape of favorite songs. This is unusual, since I've noticed that a lot of soundtracks feature one or two good songs combined with a track list full of discarded songs from bands on the label's roster.

But not this one. Whoever compiled this for the film was really savvy, because there isn't much filler here at all. Some of the tracks are very radio friendly, like Electronic's "Disappointed" and Thrill Kill Kult's "Sex On Wheelz", which surpassed even Bowie's custom-composed title track and wound up being the music used to promote the film in trailers and TV spots. TKK kollectors should get this because they're on here twice, the second track being an otherwise unreleased track called "Her Sassy Kiss".

There are some interesting club cuts on here too, like Moby's "Next Is The E" and the rave classic "Papau New Guinea" by The Future Sound of London. One of the biggest surprises is the contribution from Thompson Twins, "Play With Me", which is a very solid club track. Twins member Tom Bailey also adds an atmospheric instrumental track called "Industry and Seduction", the only time he ever released a solo effort as such.

Even the tracks by artists that you might not recognize (like Pure's "Greedy", which doesn't even appear in the film) are worth a listen. Highly recommended!

I would like to apologize in advance if I sound a bit too upset over a CD. It's just that I have been burned by the music industry one too many times and it has finally gotten me fed up. They know that you can't return a CD and get your money back once you realize that they have sold you something worthless.

This CD is a joke. A lot of the song listings state that the versions included in this 2-CD set are "extended" or "club" versions. Yeah...whatever! If an extended version clocks in at 3:40, then I would hate to hear the edited version. What would it be...two minutes?!!

The kind of people who would spend money on a double disc collection of dance music would strike me as the people who would want to hear the full-length versions that they hear in the clubs. Why should we pay good $$ to hear 4 minute, radio friendly, edited versions of all of these songs. It's such a waste! We can hear this stuff on the radio for free.

Please...don't fall for this scam like I accidentally did. If you love dance music then don't spend your hard earned cash on this awful CD full of pop songs instead of real dance music. I hope I've been able to save you some money and aggravation with this warning.

I suppose "Club Nation America Volume 2" will serve its purpose to those who don't listen to radio or are unfamiliar with dance music. But seasoned pros who are familiar with Ministry of Sound's previous compilations will most likely find this one to be a letdown. There are, however, a few highlights. Being such a huge fan of Thunderpuss (Chris Cox and Barry Harris), I love their remix of Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama." And I also dug the dance version of Res' "They Say Vision." But this compilation is overall predictable and recycles the same songs we've all heard before. I like DJ Sammy's trance remake of "Heaven," but, honestly, there are already dozens of compilations that have this song. And did they have to include that horrific remake of "Like a Prayer" by Mad House? It's bad enough to send ME to a madhouse. DJ Al B. Rich seemed to play it safe and made no attempt to give these two mix CDs anything resembling an edge. For those who are new to dance music and MoS, I'd give this a reluctant green light. But more discriminating listeners won't suffer a huge loss by passing on this one.

I recently caught a tv advertisement for this 2-cd mix compilation. Judging by the tracklist, the mix cd set looked appealing enough to check out. Considering this is from Ministry of Sound you have to know that this mix set is going to be good. I have yet to be disappointed by a Ministry of Sound mix compilation. They always put out some quality compilations mixed by some of the world's best djs like Johnny Vicious and George Acosta. They don't pick a bunch of no-name djs. They always get the best djs there is on the club circuit.

On the latest volume of Club Nation America, Al B. Rich is the dj who mixes the entire compilation. The remixes on disc one is primarily house remixes. I really dug the remixes of Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama" and Res' "They Say Vision". Those two remixes are the highlights of disc one for me. I'm not into house music as I once was but overall it is a good cd. I would say disc two is the trance disc. I don't know who ever thought it was a good idea to make a Bryan Adams' song into a trance song but that person had to be smoking something other than a cigarette. The song is extremely cheesy. It screams out "velveeta". I like the song but it is just overly cheesy. One of the cheesiest cover songs in the world of trance music. I also thought the dance version of Madonna's "Like A Prayer" had "velveeta" written all over it. Despite the cheese factor of this compilation, it is very good for a Saturday night before hitting the nightclubs. I thought this compilation was a lot better than the Trance Nation mixed compilation which was ok but nothing to write home about. Still you can't do no wrong with anything by Ministry of Sound.

...just had to point out that Todd Terry is NOTHING to do with trance! He mixes funky/disco house (and quality mixin' it is too) =)!!

Yet another great set from Ministry of Sound! Unlike the Global Underground series, which I would also recommend, the Ministry of Sound Session Series is somewhat different, the feel to it is more 'club' like if that's the best way to explain it. The main difference I suppose would be the DJ himself, in this cas Todd Terry, and how the DJ looks upon a selection. If you like the Ministry of Sound type of trance music, then this is a highly recommended buy, although the price tag may scare the most of you.

Tracks 5, 7, and 8 on CD 1 are the only really good tracks on this 2 CD set. CD 2 is closer to house music than chill, which can be a good thing if it is really good dance music... but it isn't; CD 2 is complete garbage.

So out of 38 songs spread out over a 2 CD set, only 3 were impressive. For this kind of money, I want more than 3 impressive songs.

To be honest, I have every Ibiza album from Euphoria to Ministry of Sound sessions...this one was the worst! If you like disco, you'll love this album. It's like a new age disco theme, something I personally wouldn't have expected from Ibiza Trance?! I felt like I was trapped in the "Saturday Night Fever" movie that take place in the year 2007. If you want a killer Ibiza album, I would suggest shopping for "Euphoria Ibiza", not this one.

MOS ibiza annual, the second I bought. the fourth MOS cd. And they all rule!. Ibizi is defenitely the party/club capital in the world and MOS has definetely done a good job turning that into a cd.

Jules and George had outdone themselves this time.This is definetly worth your money.If this is what the island is all about im definetly there this year.I have this album like a year and a half and its never boring.Not a very comercial songs in it but it will definetly get you going with the likes of {Murk,Danny J Lewis,Ronaldo,Carolyn Harding,Spacebass etc.}.Perfect stuff.

Being from England I found this cd rather hard to get hold of and took around 6 painful months of looking to find this brilliant cd,

Just looking at the tracklisting blows you away and is a definate MUST for anyone with appriciation to the dance/house world and is mixed well too,

I must admit it takes some listening to get into it but after that its moving, not my 2 favarate DJ`s at the best of times but they have done the job today.

Best CD I own. I love to pop it in and remember my days over the summer partying at Pacha with MoS. Incredible job by Jules and Boy George. Varied, hard hitting hits that blow the roof off the place. I love it!!

This CD is garbage. It is unfortunate to see when any great musical genre comes to a head and instead of moving into something new, they try to recycle the good ol' days and mix old styles with new. This CD is exaclty what happens when you try to take the clubs days of the late 80's and early 90's and mix them with modern sounds and things go horribly wrong!! The other reviews comment on how this is great house, well first of all Chicago is the home of house, and this CD is made 10000 miles from that great city so that should tell you how off base it is. But seriously, if you are into really electic stuff that you can't dance to, then this is your album, if you want something you would actually pay cover to hear DJ spin, a much better choice is the clubber's guide MoS 2006.

This is one of the few CD's out there where you can pop it in and let it play without skipping too many songs that have already been played out. If you're in to house music I would say this is a must have...

If you liked dance and some pop music last year and enjoy when someone ELSE compiles a list of great tunes and then mixes it well, get this! It is way better than the domestic version!!! And it is actually on two discs!!! First 21 tracks on disc one...

Godfather jacks tall with this double set. I love the concept behind the two mixes. Disc One is the song disc, meaning vocals. Very, very soulful. Disc Two is the track disc, meaning tracks. Again, very, very soulful. It is evident that the man enjoys what he's doing because once you get a hold of this set you'll enjoy it, too. Favorite tracks are "Freedom (Make It Funky)", "I Remember Dance", "Hypnodelic", "Heavy Gospel Morning" and "Alabama Blues"

This is another timeless classic from one of the best years for House Music (1996), especially if you lived in England!

This is the second time I am buying this CD - I had to give the first CD I bought to my HU homegirl Andrea in the STL a few years back. Well here I am buying another one so I figured I would give the thumbs up review. This CD is one solid mix one each disc with the smooth blends of the true master MR. Frankie Knuckles. This CD Brings back the golden days of house - that period right after Jack your body & Gotta house dropped on that original Best of House CD that had everybody open!
I cannot claim to be from the Chicago or Nyc but this CD is just plain nice to ride to. (not the most useful review but if you found this CD in the archives then you were already sold on it.)

I made a mistake and bought this CD thinking it might produce some little trance to it to. I was sadly mistaken but I must say it is put together very well. If you are a big House fan, you will love this. It has some great sounds and flows like a champ. Check it out.( And I Hate House )

this album is entirely done by dj frankie knuckles and there are no words to describe the beats. if you like dance music, you will be blown away by this here. no one can **** with this. it definitely is not worth $26.99; its worth double that, easily. go look through every record store in the US, and i guarantee you that nothing you buy will touch this or even come close.

MOS sessions 9 by eric morillo should be your next bet if you like this.
