A few house albums result so engaging and catchy as this one... Superb samplers, positive gooves and amazing bass guitars make this one simply a must for any electronica and dance music fan by bringing both house and disco music together with an elegant touch of style up to the highest levels.

Imagine Daft Punk meets Jamiroquai, and revisit Chic's catalogue... sometimes it even seems Bernard Edwards being part of the band on the guitars.

If you can manage to get the special edition with the additional CD full of remixes and versions, you just get prepared to never stop listening to these chaps.

The entire album is hot. I purchased this album to listen to one song in particular, 'Lady'. But, I ended up falling in love with the entire album. Forget what all those previous reviewers and haters say about this album, because that's what they do best, hate. This album is beautiful, energetic, and lovely. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

this cd is just sensational, full of catchy house beats, my favourite song is "chillin", a stand out house track that really sound good and gives me goosebumps when i listen to it.

After hearing the huge 2001 hit "Lady" a song with a cool dancable sample and nice hook, you might have thought that the rest of the songs would sound the same, but they don't. Most of them are soulish disco tracks, a few slow soul songs as far from beeing reffered as dance music as possible and some simply instrumental dance songs. The french duo's debut album "Modjo" is far from a bad dance album but it could have been much better. Dance albums mixed with soul are often easy to listen to and actually quite good too, the dissapointing thing however is that some songs are not even dance songs. Modjo is more of a soul group that turned dance then the opposite. Apart from "Lady" we have Songs like "Chillin" and "What I Mean" that are decent too, actually a quite easy listening album. Nothing that will go down in history but ok.

A tremendously awful cover really shouldn't put you off from listening to this decent album from duet Modjo. Combining classic jazz guitar riffs with 70's rock, Modjo's first CD is a respectable one, with influences that include Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, David Bowie and the Beatles, their eclectic mix of different types of music comes in to play quite well to create some wholly enjoyable tracks. Already a huge phenomenon in Europe, Modjo's influence can be heard regularly in practically every bar in Hong Kong. The hit sensation "Lady" has graced virtually every drug-filled club on the island, and chances are even if you don't think you've heard it, you probably have. "Chillin" is also a DJ favorite, with its repetitive background sounds and Bee Gees-influenced lyrics. But most of the best songs on the CD aren't that of the `dance music' variety. "What I Mean" is an enjoyable cheesy song, using an 80's backing track combined with 21st century lyrics, while "Peace Of Mind" sounds like it's straight out of a Jamiroquai album. Most songs though, especially "No More Tears", brought images of John Travolta dancing in a white suit to our mind - while that's not exactly a bad thing, we would've preferred more of the former mentioned songs. We really must say that French people are awfully strange - "Music Takes You Back" is four minutes of what sounds like porno music with some extremely strange lyrics, while "Too Good To Be True" is basically just a minute and half long track of two people talking to each other with extremely low background music.

Great techno music to dance to. I love listen to this while I'm doing my workouts!

If you always wondered who sings that song when your at the club dancing the night away this cd will have it. Over 30 popular hits as heard and mixed by dj's from Avalon and The Roxy. I listened to this c.d. and fell in love with it. I haven't stopped playing it because you could never over play it.

the remix of lady, which is the last track, sounds like the original, but you can dj this version, all of the other remixes sound lame compared to this one, and the bonus track "rollercoaster" blew me away!!! :) this is a must have!!!

Truely excellent song! Goes off for dancin', totally cool for chillin'. The album version is excellent for chillin', and Rollercoaster is a pretty kewl track too. Sampling from Chic's 'Soup for One', you can't go wrong. An even bigger bonus, is that the film clip is totally groovin', and I just feel like jumpin' in the car with a couple of friends and cruisin' every time I listen to it...the song is damn good, and totally versatile. THE song for SUMMER!

I love this song. It has a great beat to dance to. The lyrics are simple and cute but the beat makes you groove.

This is the business...its an amazing song. It spoke to me, and it haunts all who hear it! I defy anyone not to like it. If you dont like this..then you got no taste, style or business liking music. I dedicate this to my LADY GILL. Who is also awesome!

Modjo are a French duo who had a huge #1 hit in the UK with this fabulous dance single. `Lady (Hear me tonight)' samples the distinctive bassline from `Soup for one' by Chic (a minor pop and R&B hit in the US in 1982), and features a fab guitar riff.

Available here in the 3'42" radio edit, a 5'06" original mix, a beautiful chilled out 3'14" acoustic mix (slowed down and filled of course with plucked acoustic guitars), and a 5'10" Roys universal soldiers mix (which pushes the bassline back into the mix and adds echoey vocals).

Also on the CD is the video for the song. The rest of the album isn't much to write home about though!

This song is really great! It is the first I have heard of them, and I was really blown away by this song. It's the type of song that will make you move when your in the club. Modjo sounds exactly like Stardust("Music Sounds Better With U"). The lyrics are very catchy, easy to learn, and make you want to sing right along with them as you getcha groove on. It is one of those trax that as soon as you hear it, you will like it. The remixes are all good. I highly recommend checking this one out. If my review was helpful to you, then don't forget to vote. This song is excellent and although not as catchy as "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)", I recommend it to people who like the retro-disco sound. The tracklisting is as follows:

2) Chillin' (Con Carne Por Favor Mix) - This is an excellent remix and is done by the Buffalo Bunch which in fact is known as Daft Punk

3) Lady (Hear Me Tonight) (Choo Choo's Original Recipe Mix) - This an wicked mix in which Mr Romero takes the original and transforms it into a brand new song all over again. If you're tired of the original, listen to this mix

4) Video for Chillin' - The video takes places in a bowling alley in which the bowling balls are set on fire. Wicked video if you ask me

In short, Modjo is one of my favourite groups and I really hope a debut album comes out soon from these guys as I definitely WILL BUY IT!!!!!!!

I thought the last single by Modjo was one of last years singles of the year.The follow up is good but just isn't as catchy as the last song.It starts of with that same disco Nile Rodgers inspired guitar riff.In fact it does take a sample from Chic's most famous song "Le Freak".This one has a lot more bass and strings then the last song.The chorus however is just not as catchy as Lady..,so from that point of view it's a little disappointing.The best bit is the break,when the guitar is faded right down to zero and the bass riff just takes over.As songs go though in this type of genre it is a very worthy effort and I'm totally looking forward to a full album from this group.
