Monster Magnet

This is the best Monster Magnet album. I reminds me of the Stooges "Funhouse" album. It is just full on rock. Big beats, big choruses and big melodies. This is what head banger stuff should be like.

Admit it, when you first heard the opening, chugging riffs of "Spacelord" your socks were rocked off. Mine were, too. I think this was my favorite cd of my junior and senior year of high school. Every song is a highlight, but "Crop Circle", "Powertrip", "Spacelord", "Bummer", "See You In Hell" and "Third Eye Landslide" are my favs.
You will not find balls-to-the-wall sleaze metal like this anywhere else. This is the epitome of that style and Dave Wyndorf is one of the last true rock-stars. Check out all their other stuff, too. They have never struck out when releasing an album.

This is the album to listen to. If you liked the first few tracks from Dopes to Infinity, then this is for you. From the first track, this album does not let up. There are so many good tracks, it is hard to choose a favorite. I especially like "See you in Hell" because of the groovy, psychedelic vibe it has going. I've always been a fan of the heavy, in your face tracks and this cd is filled with them. This is by far my favorite MM album.

For how cheap you can obtain "Powertrip" for, you should take full advantage. This is their most mainstream record, but also rocks the most. By "rocks" of course, that means it doesn't follow previous monster magnet material as much, but it's a marvelously progressive record. Magnet evolves like every other band, but opposed to most other bands, Dave wyndorf's naturally amazing song writing far excedes the standard to most evolving bands. "Powertrip" is Monster Magnet's debut, to signify breaking out of the underground, but throughout their career sustain and posess that same great energy they've harnessed, and like a fine wine, has only gotten better with time.

YES! This is the stuff, the righteous 'n' raucous scalding stoner rock with brains and a heart and a sense of humor. So many bands profess to purvey it but almost none deliver the goods except Brother Wyndorf & Co.

Only two questions: Why did the Magnet not become mammoth stars? And how did the far less interesting Queens of the Stone Age get so dadblamed big?

Verily, these are eternal mysteries.

Monster Magnet's "Spine of God" is supposedly the album that set off the stoner rock movement (just as Kuss' "Blues From A Red Sun" is supposedly the album that set off the similar desert rock movement), but when I listen to this I don't hear anything different than what the Butthole Surfers were doing. Decent songs, but I think I like other albums better. Cool cover, though, and a great drum intro to the first track. There's a demo of "Ozium" that is slowed down and drugged-out and sounds a bit different.

Damn, I'm just so stoked this awesome slice of fire-breathing heaviosity is finally available again! I first bought a copy of this mother in the mid 90s and it was damned difficult to find then. For some reason that I cannot even remember now it has since disappeared from my collection and it left a gaping hole that no amount of Down, Kyuss or Black Sab could fill (as fine as those outfits undoubtedly are). So I was totally freaked out when I logged in here and saw that a re-issue had been... well, re-issued by some visionary record exec who just really GETS it. I mean, the Greatest Hits slab, cool as it undoubtedly is, can only go so far, man. So get down and DIG IT, my brothers, cos this is the baddest slice of acid-drenched freak rock to ever make its way outta the nether regions of Dave Wyndorf's unhinged brain pan. If you haven't done yore bad self the favour of procuring a copy yet, what are you waiting fuh? Hook It Up, dude, because it purely does not get more outrageous than SOG.

There's nothing I could say or do to give this album justice on how great it really is. No words are capable of describing the haunting, explosive, aggressive, yet cool and calm vibes this album takes you through. I've owned a lot of great albums from a lot of great bands, and I know that it's a little childish, choosing favorites and all, but this album ranks as my favorite album of all time, hands down. Are you interested in music with not only talented musicians, but talented song writers? Well, rest assured that you will have both great songs with some incredible playing. The lyrics are out of this world, perhaps on "mountains of Mars?" This was back when Monster Magnet, who will always reign as my favorite band, was expressing their more psychodelic roots. Basically this is a little different sounding than the band we all know and love today. There are a lot of swirling vocal effects as well as strange synths and eerie guitar leads. Dave's vocals are absolutely stunning. He didn't learn to sing, he was born to sing. There's a lot of built-up and tension that is released as the songs progress. The album's closer "Ozium" takes you to a whole new world, nay, universe! Basically, as a reviewer and music fan, it is my duty to spread the word of this album. Infinite stars!

I know many who like monster magnet tendd to favor their later work, for its more metallic agressive nature. This album was mmy introduction bacck at college in 1991, and I never got sick of it. It has some really cool songs, that are very I think influential. Sin's a good man's brother, ozium, zodiac lung, and nod scene. I happened to interview Dave once when I was working for my college radio station. He was very cool, in to music that I knew a little aabout then, alot more now. Stuff like Greasy truckers party hawkwind. I think those of you who don't know hawkwind, should check out: hall of thee mountain grill, do re mi, and out and intake. I only hope DDave can go back to more of a Psychedelic side, the recent balls to the wall rocck, is cool, but I think his music needs to strike a better balance like what you have on this record. Thanks.

You certainly can't complain about Wyndorf and Monster Magnet's consistency. Since 1995's "Dopes To Infinity" the band has spluttered an onslaught of mediocre rock music, each album a bigger fall from grace than the last. This is major criticism, but I really find MM an extensive frustration. Pre-95 they could do no wrong. "Spine of God" and "Dopes to Infinity" are two milestone albums in the stoner scene, full of groove, great riffs and Wyndorf's powerful vocals. Listening to "4 Way Diablo" is just sad. Riffs and hooks made the old MM albums so special, but they don't even turn up here. Ed Mundell manages to carve out some of his most insipid riffs ever, and Wyndorf's chorus hooks are stale and predictable. It's all just safe and harmless. Mediocre guitar-driven rock that breezes over inoffensively.

I don't know but I like it. These guys are insane and I want to share that insanity with them through their jams. On a never-ending quest to find new music, I just came across Monster Magnet a few days ago. I have just been listening to their offering and I have to say that I am quite taken by their sense of weirdness and their ability to express that with a hard psychedelic romp. Me likee!

They are back in form. Moody, bluesy, sage, and spacey. Arguably their strongest work to date.

In my opinion this is one more great CD from this band, I heard some Monster Magnet's songs years ago... I didn't (wrongly) search more of this great band... I recently done it, finding it to be really exciting. This band rocks!!!... I can't hardly mention another band as powerfull as this one... It's even hardier to explain how bands like Limp Bizkit could get during a time more attention from the people... well... I'm not here to answers that kinf of questions... I just want to say, this Monster Magnet CD is really a must have.

The 70's rockers are back...

"Cyclone" hooked me..."your soul can blow me away". This song has all the Sabbath power chords, space echo, cool lyrics, and feedback you need to get though life.

Cyclone, A Thousand Stars, and Solid Gold are Monster Magnet masterpieces, period. Without commenting on every song, I'll just say tracks 1,2,13 are a little weak. Tracks 3-12 overall are strong. Buy it.

Monster Magnet comes accross as heavy metal to most people. At this point, they were not. They came close in the late ninetees with the Powertrip CD and finally hit it after that.

Why do I say they are not metal on this CD? This band is notorious for an approach that is not standard. Call it slow, awkward, or even solo-laiden. This band shows the parts here. They just seem to like to show off their skills here one at a time or a few at a time. It also makes for awkward tracks that are not regular songs--more the format of acts like Type O Negative and Rush.

As for musically, this just is not heavy metal here. It has some scariness and some good solos. It seems to be more eerie or tribal and slightly gothic than it is hard, trash, in-your-face, pounding, or anything like that.

So what's with the 4 stars? My negative-sounding explanation is just simply a description and disection. This is not like their current stuff or like metal, however I think that it is still their identity and it is one that I like. It's almost like a band you love can do anything as long as it basically stays in the same genre and it will still be liked. I felt this way wholeheartedly about Megadeth's Risk, Sponge's Wax Ecstatic, and Seven Mary Three's Rock Crown.

Yes, this album defines "Stoner Rock". This album deserves Epic Status. Considered by most that know their Monster Magnet to be the best album of Monster Magnet. Offers such gems as "cyclops Revolution", "Superjudge", "Cage Around the Sun", and the Hawkwind cover "Brainstorm". A highly recommended album that accepts no substitutes.

Nevermind Welcome to Sky Valley, this is easily the best stoner/hard rock album i've ever heard. Monster Magnet were on top of their game with this release.

From the hard rocking Dinosaur Vacume to the middle-eastern tinted Black Balloon, this cd will have you headbanging in no time; something which was barely possible on Spine Of God.

This got more lovin' speed then your lonely souls can chew.

This cd eclipses expectations of any rock fan. The melodies are cosmic, the lyrics very deep. People compare this cd to Black Sabbath's music. In my opinion, Monster Magnet can only be compared to Sabbath for their original sound. Monster Magnet has a much faster and tighter sound. I've listened to MMagnet for a decade, and they are in my opinion the greatest rock band. This cd, like Sabbath's first release can not be pointed down to any decade of music. Monster Magnet's SuperJudge will grow on you year after year. SuperJudge is the deepest of music I have ever heard....It's a kaleidoscope of sound that literally is too much for the brain to take in over just a few plays. This cd is the cd that keeps giving. Nothing compares...nothing.

'Superjudge' was Monster Magnet's second album as they were successfully achieving to bond together two genres,space rock and heavy metal.When I FIRST recieved this CD,I thought the band had one thing in common with artists like Warrior Soul,Voivod and Jane's Addiction in the way they had their very own signature sound.After my first listen to 'Superjudge',I thought MAYBE the group had a former member of Hawkwind with them.I looked at the info inside the CD's front cover and didn't feel all THAT silly when on my second listen,as I discovered they'd done a Hawkwind cover,mind you...of "Brainstorm".Keep in mind this was before I became a major Hawkfan.The other disc's ten cuts sort of reminded me of like a Jefferson Airplane-meets-Black Flag.However,it's noted that their main influences were Hawkwind,Stooges and Sabbath.I've seen Monster several times now and have even hung out with guitarist/vocalist/frontman Dave Wyndorf(who's a heck of a nice guy)twice now.The other tunes on this CD that had me nearly gasping for air were the gut-cruncher "Face Down","Cyclops Revolution",the raga popster "Black Balloon" and "Dinosaur Vacume".What a record!Highly recommended.

"Dopes to Infinity" is Monster Magnet at their absolute best. Listening to Dave Wyndorf and the gang's recent output it's hard to even compare, such is the fall from grace. Thankfully though, this album and its predecessors are superb. Catchy, melodic, fuzzy and spacey, the sound is irresistible.

In fact, the first six tracks on "Dopes to Infinity" make up some of the very best stoner rock to come out of the 90s. Tracks like "Look to Your Orb For Warning", "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and the title track perfectly blend grooving, fuzzy riffs with melodic hooks, all encapsulating Wyndorf's raspy and powerful vocals. There's slower, more psychedelic edged tracks, the best of which "All Friends and Kingdom Come" wonderfully forges a kind of melancholy, trippy atmosphere. It's all great and consistent listening. Monster Magnet at their best are superb; it's a real shame it went downhill from here.

I've noted someone has tagged this album as 'mean'. Damn right, this is mean f**king goodness. Yeah.

Dopes to Infinity is not their best album, in fact, it may be their least best. I say that because it is an awesome cd, but when compared to "Powertrip", "Spine of God", "Superjudge", and "Monolithic Baby!", it doesn't quite stack up. It is more along the lines of "God Says No", where you really dig it (especially compared to most other bands), but there is just a certain something missing. There are some awesome songs on here, like their first big hit "Negasonic Teenage Warhead", "Look to Your Orb..." and "Dead Xmas". If you are fan, you must add this to your collection. If you are new to MM, then I'd start with "Powertrip", as that is their most well-known and successful cd, and the easiest to get into.

Wow...Dave Wyndorf is no doubt one of the most original and self-inspired song writers of our time. Don't get me wrong, he did have influences like the psychadelic space rock of Hawkwind, and that of Captain Beyond, but even those veteran bands from the 70's don't compare to this cosmic genius. The entire album glows with great talent. Ed Mundell's guitar riffs are outstanding. The only beef I had was that they didn't put "Eclipse This" (it turned out to be a B-side) on the album. Look for that on their website and download it, definately a worthy listen. This is Monster Magnet's last more Space/stoner oriented rock album. Get it. It stands above most musical efforts.

The song Dopes to Infinity is worth the price of the cd alone. That has to be the best Monster Magnet tune. And all of their songs are tight and therefore its no surprise that every song here is gold. It you like any other MM cd at all, then I don''t see how you could not like this. Its absolute cosmic rock.

Please bring back the real Monster Magnet. My college years ('92-'97) were spent listening to a lot of great music form "Spine Of God", Superjudge" & "Dope's To Infinity"...oh yeah, "Tab 25" too. These albums describe the REAL Monster Magnet.

There is no good songs on this album other than Unbroken Hotel. I'm glad I got to see them live twice in college when they were still a real band.

This album resembles a Hall Of Fame athelete playing well past his prime! This is the 2nd clunker in a row.

This album Is pretty solid from start to finish. Almost every song on this album is supergreat. Pretty staightforward record. Guitar heaven. The songs that could've been left out are "there's no way out of here" and "too bad", beacause those songs are cool but kind of... i dont know, should've been left out. The rest of the album is amazing specialy: Supercruel (WOOOOOOOOOWWWW), The Right Stuff (Straight Punk), Ultimate Everything (that song is awesome), Master Of Light (Yeah) and Radiation Day (Great great song. Great ROCK N ROLL record. This is the stuff i was looking for.

Nothing like getting dropped by a record label to send a band scurrying back to their trademark
sound. If you've been keeping up with Monster Magnet releases you know that they've strayed
from their stoner rock roots on the last couple releases which got them a lot of new fans but
alienated their core audience. Sounds like a lot of bands after they get a taste of the big time but
Monster Magnet was smart enough to return with something that can please both camps.

Right from the get go you can hear the return to form with the up beat "Slut Machine" and stony
mid paced chugger "Supercruel". There's even a hint of the "Superjudge" era sound on the next
cut "On The Verge" complete with an alternate tuned sitar sounding intro. These are all solid cuts
but longtime fans will notice the continuation of the more stripped down sound of the last couple
albums. No bong hits in the background, no swirling feedback, no more psychedelic fuzz and
other odd assortments. Some fans may appreciate the lack of what could be viewed as
distractions but I always thought these elements made the songs richer and more complex,
really helping set Monster Magnet apart from their more straight laced Sabbath clone peers. Not
that this is totally missing, there's brief glimpses of it on songs like "Radiation Day" but certainly
nothing like their early work.

Gripes about their current sound aside, there's enough stony riffs on here to please even the
most hardcore stoner rocker but they seem to be concentrated on the front half. The later part of
this record has a few of the slower, space rock cuts that fall a little flat, being a tad long and
repetitive and more importantly lacking the punch of the harder rocking tunes at the start of the
disc. The one standout on the latter half is "Too Bad", which like "On The Verge", sounds
suspiciously similar "Black Balloon" off of their "Superjudge" album. That's cool though because I
always really liked that song so it's nice to hear a reprise.

Overall, I think this is a pretty strong return to form as there are several strong stoner rock cuts on
here but it never quite reaches the brilliance of their earlier work. Still, at least it surpasses their
somewhat lackluster last couple of albums and may be the start of better things to come.

"Monolithic Baby!" seems to come at about the right time. Hard-rock is back in a big way, and although Monster Magnet don't fit in with the new wave of heavy metal, their larger than life sound is just as welcome in a music world that is shifting, and thankfully, steering in a more heavy direction. After their last, somewhat disappointing album, 2001's "God Says No," and a falling out with their former label, Monster Magnet make their triumphant return on the German indie label SPV with "Monolithic Baby!," an album that reminds us all of why we listened to MM in the first place, and most importantly isn't afraid to rock us in all the right places. Tracks such as "Sl#t Machine" and "Unbroken (Hotel Baby)" work in the same tradition of previous hits like "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and "Spacelord" with gigantic choruses, memorable hooks and hard-hitting musicianship. Elsewhere, the band experiments with their tried and true sound; "Master Of Light" dabbles in a bit of electronica, while the brilliant cover of David Gilmour's "There's No Way Out Of Here" serves as the highlight of this affair, bringing out some classic rock influences and, even though it's a cover, perfectly displays frontman David Wyndorf's sense of melody and mood. Every song seems to flow into one another and the album doesn't hit any weak spots. Definitely one of the best surprises of 2004, this album may not be the Billboard mainstay of the year, but it brings Monster Magnet back to the fold with some new tricks up their sleeve and a newfound passion for making music. The limited edition contains two bonus tracks: a sequel to the "Dopes To Inifinity" track, "King Of Mars 2004," and the Lou Reed cover "Venus In Furs." The DVD portion contains two videos, one for "The Right Stuff," and another, much sexed up, for "Unbroken (Hotel Baby)." A brief live performance and a worthy interview with the band are also featured. Definitely worth picking up for any fan of rock music.

Monster Magnet have truly lost it. I was hoping that they would recover from that abomination God Says No. I was hoping it was just a little hicup and that Monolithic would bring back the sound and energy of the old Monster Magnet. I didn't think it was possible, but Monolithic is even worse than God Says No. It is an insult to their fans. Don't bother.

Many are under the impression that mixing drugs and music is not a good thing. However, every now and then, you will come across an album that as stoned writted all over it. Spine of God is one those cds.

Just looking at the cover lends credence to the fact that you will lose your mind spinning this one in your player. However, once the music settles in, you will see that their is more to this band than just a druggy image. Monster Magnet comes full force with this one, as it is easy to see why this one is hailed an influential piece in stoner music.

The opening track is such a mind altering experience, you think you would be listening to Kyuss. The mind bending riff is out there, I thought I had to check myself to make sure I wasn't on anything. The rest of the album continues this feeling. Yet, what makes Spine of God great is that it really just full of great music. Drug references aside, the songs hold together well and the record can be played again and again.

I have yet to listen to this one on any mind altering chemical. I wouldn't want to though, as sometimes those things just destroy good music. However, try to picture what it must be like to alter your senses and play some rock and roll. If you can understnad that, then perhaps you will enjoy this cd. If you are, however, just interested in listening to some great rock, then this one is for you. In either case, this one belongs in your collection.

Originally released in 1992,as this was Monster Magnet's first full-length lp.I've always felt 'Spine Of God' was a very good(near great,actually)album in the way that it apparently displays the strong influences the band has of artists like the MC 5,Hawkwind,Stooges,Hendrix and Blue Cheer.Tunes I thought that leave a long lasting impression were "Medicine",the ass-kicking "Nod Scene","Zodiac Lung","Snake Dance" and the guy's tribute to 'those who really do' blow weed rather than just slam the past time activity "Ozium".Should appeal to most stoners,head-bangers and acid heads.Wait a minute,what is this,junior high?Shouldn't put labels on people for how they chose to live their lives.Highly recommended.

Its a shame what happened to Monster magnet after 1995. You listen to this, their debut, then compare it to something like God says no and you wonder what went wrong. This is possibly the most fun you can have with music, period.

Anyone who can beat GFR at their own game through their cover of 'Sins a good mans brother' deserves significant honor. Early magnet classics such as 'Pill Shovel', 'Snake Dance' and 'Nod scene' are on offer too, spaced out (pardon the pun) by 3 wild trippy numbers 'Black Mastermind, 'Zodiac Lung' and the title track. Ozium may be the single most addictive song ever.

Avid fans of later magnet releases such as Powertrip may not find that much here for them, but this deserves anyone's money in my book. For fans of Sabbath, Kyuss, QOTSA, Stooges, Hawkwind and dare i say Floyd?

S.o.G was my second M.M. purchase years ago when it first came out. I had their second 45 single before S.o.G. I cant even remember the song names on that 45....BUT! I remember thinking that this band was one of the best I'd heard-ever. Spine of God is a sub classic rock acid album. Everything after was OK, but to me THIS IS IT.THIS is Monster Magnet. I sold or gave away my Soundgardens, my Mudhoneys, my Birdman.......but I always kept Spine of God-still have it.

Alot of people are saying this is not Monster Magnet's best...........This album is "MONSTER MAGNET"!! The people who said that most likely started off hearing the sh@* music they are making these days. Who knows what happened? Maybe the loss of John McBain changed it all. Superjudge has its moments, but does not come close to this MIND JOURNEY. I love the guitar licks of Ed Mundell, but his playing is more suited for The Atomic Bitchwax. If you buy one MM album make it this one and then if you must go on from there. Also check out the self titled ep for more insanity (insanity is a good thing just ask charlie)- Listen and be converted forever! All hail the Bull God!!

Simply put, this is Monster Magnet's weakest album to date. The songs don't stand up to anything that came before it. If you are new to Monster Magnet get any of their earlier albums and leave this one on the shelf.

First off I have to say that Dave Wyndorf is an absolutely briliant song writer. Vastly underrated. His songs are incredibly well crafted. This album is just one gem after another. I have all of Monster Magnets albums. Wyndorf has an amazing voice for this genre of music. I am so jealous. He can sing with such depth and clarity one moment, and then let out howls and screams from the depths of hell the next. What a gift. Give this man his dues, he has paid them. Buy all of the last 4 albums. A brilliant mixture of sound textures ranging from heavy metal, psychedelic space rock, all the way to surf instrumental tinges.

What it is: a very solid rock album. What it isn't: an acid trip on a 5-inch plastic disc. It sounds like Magnet has "matured", for better or for worse. Musically and lyrically far more coherent than anything they've done before, but the cost of mainstreaming is the loss of their famed psychedelic sound. It's certainly one of the best rock albums of the last few years, but it's not what Magnet fans are expecting. Don't expect Wyndorf to blow your mind, but he will blow your eardrums.

As the Monster Magnet website declares: Rock Is Alive! Aside from MM and a few others, I can't think of too many bands who can make that claim these days. With all the sound-alike down-tuned no-solo "rock" out there these days, Monolithic Baby! is a welcome return to old-school hard rock. It is just a great hard-rocking, wacky, fun listen, with all the good stuff you expect from Magnet: pounding rhythm section, overdriven guitars, and some shredding solos, capped off by Dave Wyndorf's wacky view of the world. Definitely not as psychedelic as Spine Of God or even Dopes To Infinity, but overall, I think this is arguably their best work to date.

You can throw out all your other albums. This one's all you need. I got mine when it came out and have been listening to the same copy for over ten years on a very frequent basis. Guanteed to cause brain damange.

Holy mother of all creatures great and small!This is actually supposed to be an EP?Boy,you sure had me fooled,with '25...Tab' clocking in at over 45 minutes,Monster Magnet mainman Dave Wyndorf and crew go WAY above and beyond the call of duty to put this outstanding release together.When I first got this disc,I remember playing it about like every other night.Simply could not get nearly enough of the 32-minute title track,'25...Tab'.And to think that some thought psychedelia was dead.NO WAY!!This'd be great to play at a late nighter's bash.The other two tracks,the 12-minute trippin' "Longhair" and "Lord 13" will provide the listener(s) with much aural pleasure as well.Nonetheless,a priceless psychedelic metallic(with much mayhem to offer)disc to own and treasure.If you can't hear Magnet's influences of Sabbath,Stooges,MC 5 and Hawkwind,you need to get your ears cleaned.Highly recommended.

I've heard a lot of good and bad things about Monster Magnet. How their early albums are real psychadelic and acid-drenched, and that their late albums are more 70's rock. Well, I'm more of a Spine Of God fan than a Monolithic Baby fan, so I like the early stuff. Tab is a great song. 37 minutes of a bad acid trip. You can't go wrong. 25 is awesome. A fast rocker which turns into a slow burner. Another great tune. Longhair is a little less intense, but it's a good trippy song. Lord 13 is a little too typical sounding, so I don't care for it that much. There's a untitled 5th track too, which is actually called Tractor, and it is the same version that is on the Monster Magnet EP in 1990. It's alright, but nothing special. Buy this for the 1st 3 songs.

if you appreciate music that is way out there or your a huge fan of magnet then this is for you, otherwise, stay away. the fist song is thirty plus minutes long. the amazing thing is how the band played the same riff for so long or did they loop it? it really is a good groove but it gets repititive. the second song is fifteen minutes long and can make you weary just listening.
the next two songs are really good and not too long at all. there is also a hidden track which is another version of the song tractor. i love this band. amazing stuff. very black sabbath meets hawkwind. psychadelic rock with a heavy edge. good stuff if you have the ear for something different.

This album is not an experimental ep to drift away from the average Monster Magnet sound, alot of people think so, but I disagree. I find the songs here to be just as rocking and melodic as any other Monster Magnet material on any of their other albums. The only throw here is the first track weighing in at a little over thirty minutes long, which I love by the way, more bands should write epics like that! Anyway, if you're a fan of Monster Magnet, this ep is a must, don't let it pass you by!

Had this cd not been censored i think it'd be a great introduction to a great band. But really, they bleep out 'drug' ?!? And i can understand if this was a band with a younger demographic, but I think in general this is an older audience anyway. So we really don't need that garbage.. By the way, the digipack case this came in is made out of recycled junk which is kinda ironic cause a best of is just a recycled mixtape of old stuff, and the censoring kinda makes this cd just junk on a few songs..

I have enjoyed monster magnet for years and was excited to get this compilation. I couldn't believe the sensors got a hold of the tracks and destroyed most of them with beeps and empty spaces where the - god forbid - "bad words" are sung. What a joke. If this record company didn't like the ORIGINAL recordings then they shouldn't have produced the compilation. I guess that greed will drive a record company to sell almost anything; even something that it feels a need to sensor. What a bunch of hypocritical @#$%^(*&. DONT BOTHER WITH THIS CD!

This CD has some of the best songs by Monster Magnet. This band is awesome! I love the CD.

Bought this as I'm a big fan and completist and i liked the look of the tracklist. I was horrified then to discover that a number of tracks were censored versions of songs, particularly Heads Explode, Spacelord and Tractor - On Tractor the word 'drug' is bleeped - so ridiculous (I'm 30 for flips sake)! Buyer beware. I only give it three stars, as despite the fact that the songs are excellent, the censored tracks are to my mind unlistenable, the packaging is flimsy and provides no new insights to the best band in the world - been listening to them for 15 years now!
