Best record from these guys yet. Good idea to have the murder story line to accompany the album too.

When I put this cd in and heard it through I knew there were going to be a bunch of negative reviews for it. This album is NOT L.D.50 or anything close. It is however, a good rock album. If you want a good rock album and something different from Mudvayne, you'll like this album! If you want the crazy Mudvayne of old you will be disappointed. I on the other hand, can enjoy both!

i find it funny about the topic of this band "selling out". it doesn't even matter to me. im simply not into this kind of music anymore. constant 3 min songs verse chorus verse chorus doesn't at all excite me. maybe they did sell out who cares they're boring regardless.

This album is so much better than these other reviewers are saying. The sound is only slightly lighter and only in some songs with more attention paid to melody, but there are still plenty of heavy songs and the album still has Mudvayne's trademark sound. Chad Grey is still a great singer who can scream better than anybody and he still screams a lot. Ryan Martinie is still the best bassist in metal. The drums are still great, though maybe not as great as past albums. And the guitar work is a bit different because there are solos on this album, they are short usually, but pretty cool nonetheless. Songs like Fish Out of Water, A New Game, The Hate in Me, Dull Boy, and Same Ol' are songs that are extremely similar to all of Mudvayne's other work. The only really soft type songs are Never Enough, Scarlett Letters, and A Cinderella Story, and the latter two of those three are very good! The lyrics are still the same, just as much anger, frustration, and torment in the lyrics as always with Mudvayne. They haven't really changed that much. This album is great, still heavy, but more melody and singing, the only bad song I think is Never Enough. Mudvayne is clearly one of the best metal bands today, and I love all of their albums and this album is another great addition to the Mudvayne catalogue. Great album, highly recommended to all real Mudvayne fans!!

What do you people want? A Mudvayne CD that sounds exactly like L.D.50? All you "they are selling out" whining losers need to grow up. A band changes. A band evolves. This band is doing that. They have grown. They no longer need to throw in the f-word a hundred times per song. And, they have a GUITAR SOLO! I am one of the few who thinks this is great.

And, if anyone really thinks they have lost their edge, go see a live show. They are just as heavy and twisted as day one.

People spend too much time comparing one album to the next... It's not as heavy... It's too commercial. This is pure Mudvayne and almost every song on this album is awesome.

Not their best work, but hopefully future work will improve. At this point it sounds like they're becoming more progressive in their sound, and their current style might be holding them back.

It is exactly what you expect. If you like the songs by Mudvayne that you hear on the radio, you'll like this CD. (If you don't like the songs you hear on the radio, then why are you buying the CD?!) Enough said. :)

This won't be a drawn out analytical editorial. 3 Years after it's release, i STILL never get tired of listening to this album!!! Mudvayne gets better with time! Headbanging, heavy sh** is what this album is all about!! Perhaps the most underrated and most, heavy-beautiful-kick you in the nuts song is "Choices".....This album is just like the group itself....better with age.

I initially heard bits and pieces off this album over the last year and a half since it came out and was a little scared. Being a big fan of Ryans bass playing style was part of the turnon for me getting into Mudvayne. Hoping for something more complex than the previous album, I had high expectations.

The fact that someone from Ugly Kid Joe produced this album made me cringe too lol! But honestly, it's good solid Mudvayne. I wouldn't say they reached a new level, but I would say they solidified it here. THe music is good, straightforward and welcome if you've been listening to LD 50 and TEOATTC and wishing for more. The mind can only andle so much complexity at once lol!

Chad's still pissed and thankfully! Chad's still snging with his beautiful voice thankfully! The breakdowns on songs are shorter, less artsy but still intense. The buildups on Pushing Through and Choices are awesome. Choices is probbly still my favorite track just due to my enjoyment of comforting rhythm while I write.

I could see the accused commercialism in this album. I could care less. It's a great solid album.

Well yes this album is nu metal well at least some songs cause if you say that mudvayne's two later releases are nu metal well your wrong.This album is pretty heavy for a nu metal album it's really awesome and if you like heavy music then get this,but like i said this is the only nu metal album by them just cause they are called nu metal doesn't mean they are.The end of all things to come is heavy alternative metal,proggresive and not nu metal and same with lost and found.Trust me if there's someone who hates nu metal is me but mudvayne HAS a nu metal record but is not a nu metal band and even though this album is i still like it cause is like the heaviest they've done.But their second album probably has more heavy sounds so maybe that's the heaviest only the screams might be louder in L.D. 50.So this album is NU metal(ugh!)and math metal but pretty HEAVY!

This is my all time favorite album!!! All the songs on it are amazing. There is so much random things hidden in this album also that make it an even more intriguing album, for example the chemical components on the inside folds of the booklet are all major chemicals used in making LSD. Which plays a huge role in this album whether it be the chemical components, the 14th track titled Pharmaecopia entirely based on drugs and the effects of hallucinogens or the spoken words of Terence McKenna
(the creator of LSD) on the track Monolith explaining his theory of evolution and how humans evolved from apes by eating hallucinogenic mushrooms.The album art also features the Sephirot of Hermetic mysticism inside the booklet. The album is strongly influenced by Skinny Puppy and believe it or not 2001: A Space Odessy (in which the band actualy takes time to thank the movie). The music is amazing with the off tempo jazz influenced bass riffs, math metal drum beats, screaming guitar riffs and the beauty and brutality of front man Chad Gray's (or Kud as he goes by in this album) vocals and lyrics. All I can say is get it and lose yourself in it, I did.I literaly listened to it for over a year as the ONLY album I would listen to if it ended i would start it over so if that doesn't help sway your choice nothing will!!!

I dig this album this album was fantastic a really awsome math metal group i have all their albums and they were awsome to. Dig is a exploding song on this album whicth i really liked even the two remixies of the song, dig is good on their second album but this album was great great reverses and technology but don't get their fifth album a total wast just demo versions and some live versions of the songs that was on their first second and third album theirs only 3 knew song on that album and but otherwise this debut was great.

In revisiting this phenomenal piece of hybrid metal,I can only wonder what happened to Mudvayne on more recent outings. It seemed to me that here was a band that was on a cutting edge of progressive/aggro/math hybrid metal,forget the nu-metal moniker as that is assigned to garbage the likes of Limp Bizkit or Korn or Puddle of Dudd...these guys really had something with this album that made them immediately stand out and over their "peers". Eventually I think all metal bands must mature and progress,but as is the case with Mudvayne I think they have adopted a more mainstream and commercialized sound that is more radio friendly than their earlier efforts. I'm not saying they have to go back to Ld-50 and remake its sound...no not at all,but the creativity and talent that went into creating this musical tour-de-force shouldnt be allowed to wane in the wake of blatant commercialism. Case in point: Mastodon,arguably a band that keeps pushing the envelope of hard music,albeit a different genre-within-a genre,but still I think a good argument for just doing what comes naturally. Lets face it,these guys have a boatload of talent,they should capitalize on that.

I've owned this cd and every so often it gets lost...I found it again and am very happy.

Let me sart off with saying that even though mudvayne is consider to be nu-metal well i have to strongly disagree.Yes their first album was nu metal and pretty heavy but The end of all things to come is a heavy metal,alternative metal,and heavy rock album alright it's not nu-metal and same with lost and found heavy,alternative,and add some hard rock so mudvayne as nu-metal?HELL NO!I really been a fan of mudvayne for a while (not die hard)and i recommmend this album to any fan of HEAVY music not nu metal fans oh and they are also math metal,no not mathcore but it's something awesome too kinda futuristic if you listen to their first album it has weirds future sounds or something like that AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Could have used better mastering, but the music's pretty powerful. The interaction between bass and drums, and the rest of the instruments is what separates this album from all others.

This album was great but some songs i did'nt really care for but the other songs were great. I have all of mudvyanes albums and they were great exept for their 5 album that was'nt good just live and demo's of their songs that was on their past album's but their was only 3 new songs on that album that was alright, but this album was great.

When I heard "Not Falling" in the movie Ghost Ship, I knew I had to check the album out. It turned out pretty well, that's all I gotta say!

I've had Mudvaynes cd LD 50 in my folder for almost five years and ive never listened to it. I purchased this cd before even hearing LD 50. I found out that LD 50 was ruined, so I couldnt listen to it. I got this cd a few days ago and I cant stop listening to it. The cd is almost like Stone Sours first cd. Chad Gray has a excellent voice and im very happy that I bought this cd. Check it out.

This album is great from start to finish. It is very slightly lighter than past Mudvayne albums, but more than half of the album is still very aggressive hardcore Mudvayne, that we all know and love! Classic hardcore Mudvayne songs are Fish Out of Water, A New Game, The Hate In Me, Dull Boy, Same Ol' and We the People. Some slightly softer but very melodic and cool songs are Do What You Do, Have It Your Way, Cinderella Story, Scarlet Letters, and Never Enough. The bass playing and drums are incredible as usual. The guitarist features short solos throughout the album that are very cool, and Chad Grey is one of the best metal vocalists today easily. Real Mudvayne fans of all of their albums will like this album! Highly recommended!

Mudvayne is one of the most talented bands I have ever come across. I just don't know why they crossed over so obviously. It wasn't even like they tried to cover it up. After LD50, most every song could be on a pop radio station. This album is silly and it sucks because LD50 was the most influential album I have ever heard. They just didn't care what anyone thought. That was real music. Now that they are trying to have 13-year-old girls construct their fan-base, I just can't connect with them anymore. "A New Game" is the only song on this album that resembles Mudvayne. For new fans, you'll love this album. It is great pop music. For true Mudvayne fans, this album will piss you off more than Limp Bizkit. I hope that one day Mudvayne comes back. They are missed

ld50 was amazing the follow up ok...lost and found decent showing they tried to grow and adapt while still staying in the hard rock field im a die hard mudvayne fan since the red disc and i gotta say as much as it hurts this is like metallicas st anger ..but worse this cd sucks ...and that sucks cuz i love this band...i hope this album bombs and there next cd changes like triviums lack of screaming and how they brought it back i hope mudvayne bring back off timing heavy riffs and dark lyrics with passion about personal expierence not just emulating staind with formula writing trying to have a song that speaks to everyone ...thank god i still have ld50 to remind me how they used to have balls

This is a good album, a real treat for the fans! I like the idea of demoed songs and live versions of songs picked by the fans themselves!

The reason I gave four out of five stars is because most of the the songs are pre-recorded songs before they actually came on the the albums, other than its pretty good specially their new song dullboy.

This CD contains 16 songs. If you're a Mud-fan like me, you probably already bought Mudvayne's Live Bootleg off their website so you already own all 6 live tracks. If you're a Mud-fan like me, you probably already own the collectors edition of "The End of all Things to Come" so you already own 'On the Move' and 'Goodbye'. If you're a Mud-fan like me, you probably aren't very interested in hearing a Metallica-esque cover of a Police song. That leaves 7 tracks, 6 of which are demos. The demos are interesting, but after 1 or 2 listens you'll find that you'd rather hear the studio version. The only stand-out track is the acoustic version of Forget to Remember. Overall, I was very disappointed to wait 2 1/2 years for a new album only to have it be this.

As I logged on to this website, I read review as you are doing right now. And as I read those reviews, I noticed people giving lower than deserving scores. I believe the reason for this phenomenom is that people are focusing on the less than positive attributes. For instance, some say that Chad introducing every track before it playing highly detracts from the content, because the listener can't get into the "flow" of listening to the music. Others claim that the music isn't fresh enough and the demo tracks are not what the fans expected because the development stage for music is not all that exciting. When in contrast to the previous statement, the fans were the deciding factor in which songs were featured on the C.D. To the positive side, the demos do accomplish the role of filling in the gaps of how Mudvayne's songs mature from the scraps and dead-ends of the development stage, to the stuff that feeds our souls over and over again. Over all, I'm not disregarding the minor flaws here and there, but this C.D. is good enough for me to take my time and defend again those unintelligent, brainless. ill-advised, nonsensical, asinine, and daft comments and remarks. This is a really cool release. I only have 2 mudvayne cds and a dvd and have seen them in concert (plus met them at Ozzfest)--And must say, this is a great cd for newcomers, diehards and regular fans--for it includes different live or demo tracks of hits and rare gems.

I think the cd comes off pretty personable by the band with the little audio bites of band member intros.

The demo for Death Blooms is my favorite and kinda favor it over the album version. The live cuts are really cool--not the highest quality, but it's cool when a band releases stuff like this.

This is easily my favorite mudvayne cd and a great "filler" until there is new mudvayne to be released.

I bought this cd expecting to hear some Mudvayne that isn't on the're other couple cds that would be just as good as there other cds. I was wrong. Its really amature and not the typical Mudvayne sound your used to. I agree that track 10 the dig remix is pretty good. Eventhough I have that remix on a compilation cd I think its on the Valentine Soundtrack

Sure it might not be like L.D. 50, TEOATTC, or Lost & Found. But Mudvayne did tremendous work with this masterpiece! But to tell you the truth, I found this album to be much more heavier then L.D. even if Ryan wasn't envolved back then. Even though, this great album was supposed to be released in 1997, but who cares, Kill I Ougtha or whatever you pronounce it is a must have for Mudvayne fans! But now, its called TBOATTE now with its released in 2001 & it rocks, you guys won't be disappointed, especially hardcore Mudvayne heads! I have all 4 of their albums, & I'll be glad if they'll make a 5th album soon in 2007!

I would stick to their recent work...this album is unpolished and unimpressive. Only for die-hard fans who must own everything Mudvayne. 2 stars only because of the Dig remixes tagged onto the end, but you can find those on other compilation albums so I'd stay away from this one. Sorry to dissapoint.

Originally released back in 1997 as "Kill I Oughtta," Mudvayne's debut was re-released in 2001 as "The Beginning Of All Things To End" (which cleverly connects with the title of their 2002 album) with a few extras tacked on the end. It's always fun to hear the earliest music possible from established musicians, and Mudvayne's debut is no exception. The big surprise is that it actually turns out to be a bit better than their later efforts (not to slight them in anyway). Despite the fact that the line-up is missing Ryan on bass, their signature sound is established pretty early with this effort.

"Poop Loser" -- yeah, you heard me -- opens the album up on a somewhat awkward note, but soon after, "Seed" picks this album up and keeps running. The best cuts from here would be "I.D.I.O.T." and "Cultivate," which are just as good as anything off of their official debut album, "LD 5.0." The music on "Kill I Oughtta" is simply streamlined Mudvayne. If you want to hear the band just rock out without too much dramatics or showing off, this is where you want to be. The bonus tracks include not only two remixes of "Dig," but a track titled "LD 5.0" which weaves all the interludes from that album into one song. Definitely an interesting listen. The remixes themselves are actually quite impressive. Both are done by Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory) and are actually listenable, even to the most discriminating ear.

So, aside from it's production values and moderate sound quality, "Kill I Oughtta" is among Mudvayne's best work. Any serious fan should own this, even if they aren't a completist. There isn't much else to say about this release. The music just speaks for itself.

And most Nu Metal bands I absolutaly hate. However, this is one acception that is worthy of my cd case. I reccomend this album for whenever you're looking for quick and effective "cheap thrills"

This CD was pretty damn explosive from the beginning, however many of the songs aren't as diverse as I would have wanted from Mudvayne. Great CD however, definately pick this one up.

If you actually listen to music that has conviction and meaning this is the perfect set. Mudvayne is by far the most inriguing powerful band to ever hit this planet. No band has the stage presents the most awesome, beautiful artistic ability of MUDVAYNE.

I bought this CD without a clue of what they sounded like. Yes I know, bad move on my part. I had heard the hype about these guys at my school, some of my friends said they were good, and that the bassist was amazing. Well I went out, spent 18 bucks, and popped it into the CD player. Now I'll admit this, I did like the first 3 tracks to some degree. Especially Trapped in the wake of a Dream (the bass really stands out there). But after that I became bored really fast, and really annoyed. These guys are not as good as people say they are and are definitely a good example of radio metal. I realize might get slammed for saying that but I'll take the risk. The DVD doesn't help either. What we have is the ridding mountain bikes, playing in the studio (they screw up a lot), 2 of them eating dinner, and 2 useless songs, that basically play and force you to look at one picture of them throughout the whole thing. They belong as bonus tracks to the CD, not on the DVD. Listening to the CD, I can't help but feel bored and feel the need to place something else in the CD player. These guys failed in grabbing my attention and are very overrated. Don't give into the Hype like I did. I plan to sell this thing and at least get half of my money back. Hope this helped.

What? Weird title? KISS IT! Asbestosis is a condition that is caused from inhaling the fine dust given off from asbestos, and it is very deadly, and it can kill you. Now, take the inhaling of fine dust part, and apply firmly to Mudvayne. These Illinois-based cruisers first came to me in the form of a L(ethal) D(osage) (haha, a pun!), and now, I think this should've been the theme album for Y2K, but they were just too late.

If it sounds like I am reaming this album, then just turn around now and go look up someone else's album. I will say, this album isn't superior to L.D. 50, but it is equal. Mudvayne takes a page from Tool in evolving their music to a purified form, then shoving it down your throat. That is the only comparison you will get in this review, so deal.

OK, the music, right? "Silenced" is a great kickoff for the album, yes, I can agree on that. However, it does get to the point where you wanna skip that song because the real adventure starts with being "Trapped in the Wake of a Dream". I was quite hyperactive when I was able to get my first taste of this album from their website before it came out, because "Not Falling" and "Key to Nothing" were, excuse my French, F***ING INCREDIBLE!!! It's a good thing these guys are not only original, but continue to be original. This album delivers just as much speed, bass, distortion, and movement as the prior two. There are a few changes in the music, and for the better in many cases. Chad's vocal capabilities are expressed in this album tenfold in comparison to past efforts. Can you possibly get better than listening to those progressions from subtle to ferocious? Only if you listen from beginning to end. The drums are more sporadic and complex. The guitars are beautifully blended with that lovely bass. Everything about this album is well thought out, and you can tell from watching the bonus DVD.

Standout tracks? God, I hate having to pick out certain ones. Well, if you want to sample the songs, then I would look out for "Per(version) of a Truth", "The Patient Mental", "Key to Nothing", and indefinitely, "Skrying". Everything else is fantastic too, but those are the ones that will give you a good look at what this album is about. The two tracks on the DVD, "Goodbye" and "On The Move", are great as well, but you will understand, upon listening to them, how they didn't fit the scheme of the album.

Therefore, take one free hand, open car door, drive, find, buy, plug in immediately, and cure that cold you have, because Mudvayne will warm up every bone in your body with this other masterpiece from their deep, dark, twisted souls.
