Mannheim is always great especially for the holidays. I love listening to this cd along with the others.

Every year I wait for the new edition of the Christmas CD to be released. I really enjoyed the version of "Feliz Navidad" or " Fleas on Your Dog " as kids used to call it. The first time I ever heard of this group was on Rush Limbaughs'(sp) talk show. He played it and I called in to find out about where to get the music. Thank you for making Christmas so pleasant. I wouldn't say this is all a bad Christmas CD. Several of the songs are wonderful renditions of familiar carols that I wish Mannheim Steamroller had made a long time ago. Songs like "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". But a couple of them get a little too jazzy and tend to veer off their originally intended courses. The main ones of the latter category would be "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" and (especially) "Frosty the Snowman". Actually, I think "Frosty" is the low-point on the CD and perhaps the most ridiculous version of a Christmas song I've ever heard Mannheim Steamroller perform. I mean not to sound overly critical; it's just that I know they're capable of so much better.

The best Mannheim Steamroller Christmas albums I can recommend are A FRESH AIRE CHRISTMAS (the blue album), CHRISTMAS IN THE AIRE, and CHRISTMAS EXTRAORDINAIRE (the red album), and probably in that order.

What would wonderful Christmas music be without Mannheim Steamroller. I'm not saying their other albums aren't wonderful; I love them all! Bottom line, this is a must buy. It will give you that warm feeling that Christmas is about.

This brings back my childhood! Why can't today's music be as melodic and fun to sing? Awesome soundtrack - one of the best!

My daughter and I went to the drive-in about 50 times one summer to watch Grease. We would pack a cooler with food and drinks and watch it each time like it was our first. Many years later, this was a birthday gift for her, and we watched it together for the first time---AGAIN!

The soundtrack to Grease is actually one of the five albums that changed my life. When I was a tee weeny little boy, this soundtrack and the film were the first real adult type of fare that I came across which actually affected me in any way. T

he film was so exciting to me I made every relative I had take me to see it claiming I had never seen it before. My Aunt and I listened to it on my Grandma's big record player in the living room - one of those things that look like a cabinet but actually house a record player and in Grandma Ferlie's case an 8 track player. Then I made my mom buy me the 8-track for myself.

I sang every song as if it were my own and as if I knew what half the words meant. "Summer Nights", "You're The One That I Want", "Greased Lightning" - not to mention the 1,2 punch of sassy pants Rizzo with her teaser "Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee" and "There Are Worse Things I Could Do", plus the Sha Na Na whole middle of 50's dance music, and the Cindy Bullens sung "It's Raining On Prom Night", "Freddy My Love" and "Mooning" from the original play (which I didn't even know existed at the time). The soundtrack to Grease made me grow up and to this day I still get sucked in to both the flick and the soundtrack and it made me a life long Livvie fan.

Plus my very first ever time performing live was as a 6 year old kid getting up with a live band and singing the duet "You're The One That I Want" as a solo - yeah I was cool like Zuko.

Grease will continue to stand the test of time forever. I am in my fifties, my son is 18. I enjoyed the movie's music when I was his age, he enjoys it as much now, 34 years later from the time I first did. Apparently the music is timeless. Just as it moved people to sing along, dance or click their fingers at the very least when it was first heard, so does it continue to do the same now.

I can almost see my son introducing this music to his children in the future, and their enjoying this as much as I did then and now.

Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the coolest soundtrack of all-time. Songs like You're The One That I Want, Summer Nights, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted to You, and We Go Together are simply irrestible and timeless songs. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John sound great, their vocals are spot-on. Stockard Channing also has a distinctive voice, There Are Worse Things I Could Do is a cheek-in-tongue kinda song, love it! I highly recommend this flawless album and the film as well.

The product is more than I anticipated, Anne Murray, one of my favorites (I am in her age group) singing with many of my favorite more contemporary women. The seller was quick to mail and perfectly acceptable in all respects. Thanks, Amazon, for linking us up with outside sellers.

Oh, Anne, I just fall in love again... with your voice!! Dusty Springfield, Carole King--how great to hear all the lady troubadours on this CD. It's a beautiful collection of duets. Put it in your vehicle if you commute to work and you'll be singing by the time you get there! Really nice...

I'm a fan! I grew up with Anne Murray and absolutely love her voice. This cd of duets is a fun, fresh way to introduce her old songs. I prefer Anne's voice alone but this new twist is worth listening to...I enjoyed it! The duet with KD Lang is my favorite...their voices are so complimentary.

I anticipated a good rendition by all artistes after listening to samples, but it surpassed my expectations.
Anne is a wonderful singer and her duet with fellow Canadian Celine Dion live,is extraordinary. Not to metion Sarah Brightman (another favourite singer of mine). What a performance by all. Could you imagine if Anne got together with another favourite of mine(Nana Mouskouri)? That would be a great joy to me.

As a kid I always listen to my mum who always played Anne Murray's song over and over again. The reason I purchased this album is to have a memory to my mum. Almost all the tracks in the CD had been heard before but this album is different as Anne included a lot of others artist which gives a different kind of feeling. Anne wrote a great deal of all the artist she duets with in this album, and it is worth enough for buyer who love Anne's music.

I wish the CD I got had had more of Olivia's top songs on it. I also wish I could have heard some of the songs before I bought it . But that's not the fault of Amazon . I like to shop from you because I always get my order very fast . Thank you.

As soon as GREASE was released, it screamed Instant Classic and sealed Olivia's legend status. But she is a whole lot more, as this collection shows.

In today's pop era of female singers battling for a shopworn "diva" crown and muscular, over-dramatic vocal acrobatics plastered over insipid, nu-soul stylings, it's good to remember a whisper can ring louder than a shout.

Olivia's voice was always a beguiling instrument, crafty in its facility to blend shimmering, understated innocence with a subtle allure. Her character Sandy in Grease, seems in fact a metaphor for this transformative gift -- comparing her ingenue 70's persona with the glorious coming-out which would soon follow.

While I was not so inspired by the countrified vanilla of some of her early Nashville leanings, it had its simple charm. And I've frankly never liked "Physical", a throw away as dated as her video's work out duds and sadly one of her biggest hits.

One star downgrade for leaving off her cover of Dylan's "If Not For You" (and which George Harrison also did so wonderfully on All Things Must Pass), and some of her later 80's material maybe didn't age so well. (OK, "Make A Move on Me" is pretty damn catchy - gotta admit.)

BUT....that leaves a small bevy of killer songs, the likes of which any singer worth her salt would have cheerfully given her right vocal cord to have a shot at...and ample reason to buy this cd: the fun, unforgettable numbers from Grease; the lilting "Sam"; "Suddenly", with Cliff Richard (one of the greatest duets ever IMHO); the bewitching "Magic" and "A Little More Love"; and ELO's spectacular "Xanadu", a luscious pop confection with a finale which gives goose bumps (those incredible notes!)

Olivia hit more homeruns in a decade than most recording artists will have in a lifetime. I'm so glad I finally got this!

Getting my hands on this cd has been a long search that finally paid off. Olivia Newton John a actress, singer who I have always loved watching her in movies and loved hearing her music . This cd has 21 tracks Let Me Be There, I Honestly Love You, all the way to A Little More Love from Make A Move On Me to Twist Of Fate + a bonus track with John Travolta. If you have her greatest hits then you have most of the favorites but if you like to collect everything the artist puts out like me then this is something to own and to enjoy. So own the Magic of Olivia from a true fan.

What a voice and what a woman, so gracious and grateful for her abilities and her ability to help others, to perform for us all. A major mark in out musical history.

The only song that is good on here is Reckless Olivia Newton-John with John Farrar . Olivia should stay with him and make songs.. The last good Album Olivia made was THE RUMOUR . Amy Sky did some nice songs on there but this Album No Thank you..I still Love Olivia But I think she is going off track.....

I flew in from grad school, knowing that Olivia would be at the downtown Dallas Neiman's (the last Fortnight). She was shopping. She was happy to take time for a photograph or two and told me how to position my head properly--as she's done when I've hauled my family around to see her in concert. Never having missed a day of school, it was worth it. In 11/03, I was given the "Keeper of the Flame" award by (then) CHEC in West Palm Beach. John Easterling was there as another honoree. This is such a positive uplifting CD! Olivia has been doing such a great job lately of putting songs out there that are safe for everyone to listen to and enjoy. It is great to hear all of the other people sing with her as well. I have and will always be a fan, but it seems her work and voice just get better and better!

This CD provides inspiration for anyone who is facing cancer or is supporting someone who is fighting cancer. I have several friends who are dealing with Cancer right now in their lives and I gave a copy of this CD to give them strength. My Friend's mom listens to it as she is getting chemo each week. I have always enjoyed Olivia's music but these songs speak to the heart.

Olivia has withstood the test of time! She is still fantastic. She was the Madonna of her time and paved the way for many other female artists.

The movie was a clunker, but the soundtrack was a chart monster and one of the best examples of cross-promotion during this "Golden Age of Rock;" the music from top artists was built to stand alone as a means to sell the film to a huge audience in the highly-influential pop culture of the times.

Five of the 10 tracks popped into the Billboard Hot 100 and the album spent an amazing 36 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at number four.

The album was split into a side each of five songs for Olivia Newton-John and the Electric Light Orchestra. The monster hit was Magic, the #1 single from Newton-John, who also scored with Suddenly - a duet with former British teen idol Cliff Richard, which reached #20. She also performed duets with The Tubes and Gene Kelly. ELO had amazing success on the important single's chart, as the title cut - with Newton-John on lead vocal - reaching #8, All Over The World #13 and I'm Alive #16.

The soundtrack was definitely a pot of gold at the end of a roller-skating rainbow.

Had this album on Vinyl LP for years till it broke. Was excited to find it on CD! This is a great album, and ELO is awesome! I Missed these songs!

I never even heard of Xanadu before my wife told me about it. She forced me to watch it and quite frankly it's a great movie. I ended up loving the sound track as well. I would recommend this if your a fan of the movie.

This movie soundtrack was originally released in 1980, presenting the improbable mix of songs of Olivia Newton-John (penned by John Farrar) and Electric Light Orchestra (penned by Jeff Lynne) in a truly terrible movie, but the music was first rate, with both Olivia and ELO at their peak.

You have to imagine "Xanadu" (10 tracks; 42 min.) as the original vinyl album, with an A and a B side. On the A side are the John Ferrar-penned Olivia-sung tunes, with mega-hit "Magic" kicking things off. "Suddenly" is a fantastic ballad, featuring Olivia in a duet with then superstar Cliff Richard. "Dancing" is the only tune on here that doesn't captivate me (although it plays an important role in the movie). "Suddenly" is another beautiful ballad" and "Whenever You're Away From Me" is a great duet between Olivia and Gene Kelly (in his last movie role). Side B brings 5 outstanding ELO tunes, including "I'm Alive", "The Fall" (one of the better tunes from Jeff Lynne ever), the ballad "Don't Walk Away", the semi-hit "All Over the World", and the closer and title track (and mega-hit), with Olivia on vocals.

What always bothered me was that the songs on this soundtrack were completely out of sync, and didn't present the story line of the movie. Well, that has been corrected, now that "Xanadu", 27 years later, has been brought to Broadway, as improbable as it is. I saw the show in New York last month, and it is fabulous. Even better, the Broadway soundtrack presents the songs in their natural flow, mixing up the songs from the A and B side, as they should have all along. But despite this flaw on the original 1980 soundtrack, let there be no mistake, the music here is first rate. I've always thought of this soundtrack as a musical guilty pleasure, but when it stands the test of time, now 28 years later, is that really just a guilty pleasure?

Let's just start by saying that I was buying the Idle Race 2-cd set and realized that I now had just about everything Jeff Lynne had ever recorded......EXCEPT FOR XANADU!

How could I resist?

Anyway, I am not going to waste too much space on a Xanadu review. A few of my (random) thoughts:

-> This CD confirms my theory that ELO was at least better than Olivia Newton-John (as for my assertion that ELO was better than Abba, we'll have to wait for another day). The ELO half of the CD is WAY BETTER! Actually, the only ONJ track I was able to get through was MAGIC, and I probably won't even listen to that one again for quite a while. Once every 25 years is often enough for me.
-> ALL OVER THE WORLD is quite possibly the best Motown rip-off ELO (or anyone else for that matter) ever pulled off. Couldn't they have just done a cover of HEATWAVE or DANCING IN THE STREETS instead?
-> I'M ALIVE is still annoying.
-> The two ELO non-singles (THE FALL and DON'T WALK AWAY) are actually really good, although the sequence of the two songs should be reversed, since the "It's a lie" chorus in THE FALL sounds a little bit too much like "I'm alive."
-> The title track is probably the best thing Olivia ever did. How does Jeff Lynne do it?

Finally, I think it is also pretty funny that, before working with his idols (Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, etc.), Jeff Lynne had to do a duet with Olivia Newton-John. Talk about paying your dues.

I guess I did waste a fair amount of space there. Sorry about that.

This Christmas CD is quite unique and one of the very best I have ever heard. it is not the same Christmas songs over and over. There are many original songs and the instrumental interludes alone are worth the money. There is not a bad piece in the whole album. It is perfect for background if you are entertaining for Christmas as well as soft, romantic music to cuddle up with your loved ones.

I am running out and buying more to give to my family.

This CD is not only a marvelous collection of vocals, but they are combined with beautiful instrumental interludes. They result is a soothing Christmas musical treat I enjoyed over and over again this year, and will continue to enjoy for many seasons to come.

Beats her former Christmas album by far. Even though it will be after Christmas when you get it, it's worth it.

If your a fan of olivia newton john then this album is a must have.

When I first heard of Sam I shead a few tears because it was so beautiful. Others such as have you never been mellow, if you love me let me know, and deeper than the night always get me dancing, relaxing, or both. Come to think of it, when I played this album at work I noticed that I wasn't so stressed out after all because the music really got to my mind.

When I got this album there were some albums that were new to me at one time. Songs such as Something better to do, let it shine, every face tells a story, banks of the ohio, and the rumour became more songs that I listen to on a regular basis now.

With this album considered as a gold and with a singer like olivia newton john, you would think that one wouldn't have any objections, but I did find one: It's nothing against olivia, but the newer version of I honestly love you with (duet with Babyface) didn't exactly get me dancing. Sorry, but if I wanted to listen to rap or hip-hop I would of bought a rap CD.

I have said it many times, many ways, olivia newton john is a talented and gifted singer, and has a lovely voice. She has a good heart and a good head on her shoulders, I can tell. If I ever got the chance to meet her personally, I would graciously accept. Olivia thank you very much.

Olivia Newton-John is a multi-talented, multi-faceted performer who has had a career that has lasted decades and covered many different styles of music. This GOLD collection is the best out there in trying to represent all the periods from her career. Olivia's signature song I HONESTLY LOVE YOU was a pop classic and garnered her two Grammys. But it also raised controversy among the country music community as to whether she was truly a country artist as she claimed. And the answer to that is yes, she was. (FYI - the Grammy for I HONESTLY LOVE YOU was for best pop artist.) Before this infamous song Olivia had recorded many albums that were pure country. They were amazing releases and she had hits like IF NOT FOR YOU and LET ME BE THERE. Her country period is represented with 14 songs on this collection.

Then came GREASE and Olivia's career took a turn towards definite pop. There were many hits from GREASE and she also released two great pop albums TOTALLY HOT and PHYSICAL. Then there was the soundtrack to XANADU. This period is represented with 18 songs on this collection.
The remainder of the songs here are other hits and a super GREASE megamix. The standouts on the whole collection are in my opinion BANKS OF THE OHIO, HAVE YOU NEVER BEEN MELLOW, COME ON OVER, EVERY FACE TELLS A STORY, A LITTLE MORE LOVE, TOTALLY HOT, XANADU, SUDDENLY and THE RUMOUR made with Elton John.

Olivia has always been blessed and cursed. She is beautiful and possesses the voice of an angel. She has amazing range and great emotive delivery. But often the prettiness of her voice had people seeing all her music as mere pop and they didn't see the layers beneath. She has always been hugely popular but definitely deserves more critical acclaim. She has covered country, pop and standards and made each genre her own. This collection is a great overview but for each period of her career you are interested in do yourself a favor and get the albums she released at those times. They are all on cd and her albums had some excellent cuts other than all the hits.

I must end by saying the remastering here is superb. The sound quality is excellent and I highly recommend this collection.

If 60's British singing legend Petula Clark had a chip off her block, it came from Olivia Newton-John. Born in Austraila and rasied in England John started out with hits like the Bob Dylan version of "If Not For You" and "If You Love Me" in 1971 and it came just as Clark's hits began to dry up. And by the end of the 70's John started to appear in movie musicals just as Clark did the decade before. I know that I will be getting this CD in the future.

Very glad I purchased this CD it has all the songs I like. Its got the rock and country kinda sounds in her earler songs with a hip rock in her later songs. Highly recomend this CD.

I understand what all the griping is about - this collection is far from perfect. There are a few tracks which should have been included - the most glaring omissions being "What is Life", "Changes", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "I Need Love", and there WAS room on the CDs for at least three more tracks, but what these other reviews fail to point out is that they finally got it right - this collection rounds up almost all of Olivia's chart entries, some under-appreciated gems, and the previously unreleased (on an Olivia album) "Fool Country" and "The Best of Me" from David Foster's 1986 Atlantic album. And the collection is 24-bit remastered, to boot. Don't gripe, people. Just listen!!!!!

If you liked "Return to Pooh Corner", you will love this album. My children like it and listen to the songs often (even my 10 year old).

I bought this b/c I liked the 1st one so well.
I will say I do like the 1st one better, but this is good too. Some of the songs are very sentimental and are a great tribute to the feelings that a parent has for thier kids.
All in all I would buy it again.

While not a big chart hit, Kenny was wise in doing a sequel to RETURN TO POOH CORNER. Now with a fifth child Hana Aluna he does a good job in singing his favorite Disney and movie songs are well as some original compisitions. Kenny is said to be working on a third children's album, a
"parent's album disguised as a kids one".

We bought this for our four-year old daughter after we borrowed it from the library and fell in love with it. The lyrics are very soothing and it calms her down for bedtime. It's also great for background music for her playdates...less fighting over toys! I've always liked Kenny Loggins, but this is one of his best!

As a professional deejay, I purchased this album because a father wanted to dance to "Turn Around" at his daughter's wedding reception. I fell in love with it myself. My babies are grown but I gave the album to my oldest daughter several months before she got married. As the flute on the opening track invites you to "count all the bees in the hive, chase all the clouds from the sky ..." and each song relays the sentiment to my older children that I would like to say to them myself. This album makes a great wedding gift, baby shower gift, graduation gift or for any occasion that you would like to let your children know they are loved and you're there for them.

Olivia is hot--the last four tracks here are not. Outstanding are "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting" and "Talk to Me".
"Borrowed Time" and "A Little More Love" may be a cut above but three stars is the max for this one.

Quite rightly a fan favourite, 'Totally Hot' is perhaps Olivia Newton-John's best and most memorable album. As other reviewers have stated, 'Physical' is a more polished and overall successful attempt at a rock album, but there's something just so charming and RIGHT about The Hot.

Released in November 1978 after a blistering year for Olivia with the success of 'Grease' and it's massive soundtrack, one wonders if TH was a somewhat rushed affair to cash in on O's new (slightly) naughty girl image that the last 10 minutes of the movie had created. If so, Olivia and producer John Farrar were very lucky as the album went platinum and lead to another good five years of Olivia being a global superstar.

Lead single 'A Little More Love' hit #3 in the States and is widely regarded as one of her best ever singles, far more interesting than anything on the 'Grease' soundtrack and and the finest cut on the album. 2nd single 'Deeper Than The Night' hit #11, it's a pretty powerful pop song though it has to be said that although she does her best, Olivia isn't quite up to the song vocally. It's something that surfaces on most of the uptempo material, the daft wailing at the end of ALML, the hopelessly out-of-her-depth shrieking throughout the title track and the lost-in-the-mix throat-shredding shouting on 'Gimme Some Lovin'

The album's opening track, 'Please Don't Keep Me Waiting' escapes this despite featuring Olivia wailing an odd duet with a vocoder. At nearly six minutes it's the album's most adventurous cut and I'm still surprised it wasn't considered as third single instead of the under-performing title track.

The ballads on TH still stand the test of time. The beautiful 'Dancin' 'Round And 'Round' remains one one of her best country tunes and 'Boats Against The Current' is one of her most enduring mature songs. It has to be said that towards the end of the song she tends to shout where Streisand would soar but it's still a great achievement for ONJ. 'Never Enough' despite a cloying lyric is lovely too and Olivia's own 'Borrowed Time' is another highlight. Only the horn-ridden, O penned 'Talk To Me' lets the side down. It's not a fantastic song and the production has always sounded weak to me.

So there you have it, an almost perfect 10 track album and Olivia Newton-John's best ever work, IMO. I know I've nitpicked about some of the vocals but believe me, this is perhaps my favourite album ever and I've played it constantly throughout the last 30 years. Olivia was never better, despite the occasional, rough edges than here.

First, I just have to thank you the land down under for your faboo Olivia Newton-John remastered imports - they are so much better than the MCA CDs ...

But now onto one of the best of the bunch, After Grease, our Olivia held onto those tight leather pants and created a whole new image for herself, one of a hot, blonde rock chick who could take a pop single and add sexiness to it while still staying somewhat middle of the road sweet. Her 1978 album Totally Hot and it's cover said all it needed to but a make over and the success of Grease didn't necessarily guarantee a huge new career and that's where the songs had to come in. Luckily, her main songwriter and producer John Farrar was on the same wavelength as Livvie and they created a slew of rocking little pop songs including the guitar laced "A Little More Love."

The song opens with a rocky little pop guitar hook, "Night is draggin' her feet" and a guitar kick up comes in, "I wait alone in the heat", and Olivia's sexiness begins to shine through, "I know/ know that you'll have your way/ til you have to go home/ `No's a word I can't say..." and the song shifts into a catchy pop beat, "Cause it gets me nowhere to tell you `no'/ and it gets me nowhere to make you go" before shifting into the real part of the chorus and Livvie's vocals go higher, "Will a little more love make you start dependin'?/ will a little more love bring a happy ending?/ will a little more love make it right?/ will a little more love make it right?" and of course she throws in some of those off the charts Livvie screeches I so adore, and we end up with a perfect single to introduce the new and improved post-Grease Olivia Newton-John.

But Totally Hot is more than just that top ten single as Olivia didn't pull out any stops - it's not even just lookin' sizzlin' and totally hot on the album sleeve - there's another great single found in "Deeper Than The Night" but the brilliance of that which is Olivia is everywhere.

Opening with a piano/bass/almost dance song "Please Don't Keep Me Waitin'" turns into Olivia as an instrument - she is shrieking and scatting at the end and you can't tell if it's a synthesizer or her voice - it's one of the oh so many reasons I love her.

As anyone who knows our girl knows - she loves her ballads and she loves her country music so we have both in "Dancin' Round And Round" which isn't nearly as stimulating as her other two ballads - "Boats Against The Current" and my ultimate fav "Borrowed Time" which has super trouper Olivia vocal overdubs. Plus she rocks out a little (in pop style) with a cover of "Gimme Some Lovin'" and the excellant title track. You must have this you simply must.

Best Tracks: "A Little More Love", "Totally Hot", "Deeper Than The Night", "Borrowed Time" - oh who am I fooling they're all great!

I purchased this Import for Clinton Kelly (TLC's What Not To Wear), and then a second copy for myself. The songs are so-o-o well-done, and the title track is, indeed, Totally Hot!

Any guy alive in 1978 remembers Olivia decked out in black leather during the final scenes of Grease. Totally Hot was her own musical release follow-up album after the movie Grease became a mega-selling big deal. But ONJ, being the talent that she is, didn't just throw together some sloppy songs, toss the black leather on, and try to sell it to the public while she was in the spotlight. What she did do was assemble another in a long line of outstanding albums filled with the top stuido musicians of the era and her trademark soulful, sultry, heavenily voice. While many of her earlier albums are soft and subtle, Totally Hot has a lot of spunk. It's just a fun record. It sounds like she had a great time belting out these tunes, and as a listener in my opinion it really comes across. The funky and playful title track kind of summarizes the album. It's not too serious, yet it's Olivia getting comfortable as a "sex symbol" while maintaining her innocent charm at the same time. Other standout tracks include "A Little More Love," "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting," "Deeper Than the Night," and "Dancin' Round and Round."
