This CD had a great selection of songs, but not all of the most popular by the OZZ.

I am very surprised that Iron Man was not included in this compilation. I was also hoping War Pigs was included but that one was srictly black sabbath. This cd has evrything i was hoping it would besides that. I think there are a few dumb songs on it but they made up for it with the good ones. I also like how the really awesome songs are evenly spread out throught the discs so you don't have them all together so that you skip the other songs to get to that group and take out the cd when you are done with that little group of songs.

Created in 2003 this has some of Ozzy's most essential cuts up to that point of his career. Outstanding tracks include "Crazy Train", "Flying High Again", "Diary of a Madman", "Bark at the Moon", Rock 'n' Roll Rebel", "Mama, I'm Coming Home", "No More Tears", the Grammy Award winning "I Don't Want to Change the World" & "Perry Mason"

Ozzy has been dubbed "the Father of Metal", this is ample testament to that. Many of us remember him from Black Sabbath & might still consider that the pinnacle of his career. Ozzy has influenced many in the heavy metal genre, almost every metal group claims his influence on their choice of music. Whether you love him or hate him, he has proven himself to be a survivor in more ways than one.

OZZY ruled in 1986 when I spray painted a giant OZZY on the back of a grocery store in the midwest, and he rules still in 2008.

Glad to know my musical tastes in my teens were valid and my 30yr old self still digs the price of darkness---the one who owns millions of little dogs and has two rad kids.

This probably the best compilation CD for anyone wanting to get aquiented with Ozzy Osbourne. You find all the so called hits and a few gems as well.

This is a good first album for ozzy not as goo as diary of a madman but still good I like crazy train except over the years it has been played to death so when I put this album on I skip that song what can I say about randy rhoads that hasn't already been said he was one of a kind to bad he died in his prime and we just have blizzard of ozz and diary of a madman and a cd put out afewv years ago by quiet riot called the randy rhoads years it worth owning if you want to hear his early stuff and his progression from that to his ozzy stuff which blows quiet riots stuff out of the water anyway good album woth having in your ozzy collection

I had just bought the 2002 version. The cd was still wrapped as I came here to read customers' reviews on it. Thank you guys! As soon as I read them, I got back to the cd store and had it changed. Thank God I hadn't unwrapped it already! I'll be searching for the 1995 version. I'm sooo curious to hear this masterpiece but I'd rather have my hands cut off than to buy this version! I'll wait no matter how long it'll take...You're all right: we must not let Ozzy make money on this outrageous version. He himself must realise what he has done: I hope he will not sell 1 more copy of it!! May it serve him right....:-)

I'll be brief. This 2002 re-release is a piece of trash. Rather than re-releasing "Blizzard of Ozz" with a bonus disc of live Randy Rhoades material (anyone who knows anything about Rhoades-era Ozzy knows that there is a killer King Biscuit Flower Hour show from Montreal, Canada recorded in July of 1981 and plenty of other great recordings of the Rhoads-era BESIDES the "Tribute" album) or further working on bringing the sound of the original analog tapes of "Blizzard Of Ozz" to an even higher pinnnacle of clarity (especially considering the technological breakthroughs made since the first 1995 re-release of "Blizzard Of Ozz"), what do SHARON and the OZZY $$$ TRAIN decide to do? RECORD OVER LEE KERSLAKE's drums and BOB DAISELEY's bass!?! Those two guys were legends!!! Lee Kerslake having played on all those BRILLIANT 70's URIAH HEEP albums and Daisley having played with RAINBOW (yes, the RAINBOW started by Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple) as well as WIDOWMAKER in the mid-70's and CHICKEN SHACK in the earlier part of the decade. Kerslake and Daisley were HUGELY competent players whose contributions (especially Daisley's in regards to song writing on "Blizzard Of Ozz") made it possible for OZZY to form a solo band and eventually stumble upon a young guitar prodigy named Randy Rhoads playing in a band famous mainly in L.A. and Japan called Quiet Riot. I'm sorry but EVEN WITH RANDY RHOADES, had veteran musicians Daisley and Kerslake not been there in 1980, there's a good chance Ozzy Osbourne would be nothing more today than BLACK SABBATH's original singer. Whoever made the final decision to remove Daisley and Kerslake's contributions to "Blizzard Of Ozz" and bring in a couple of session musicians to re-record and ultimately destroy a heavy metal fan classic should be either flogged or forced to listen to all of Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley's BRILLIANT pre-Ozzy material for eternity!!! In the end, it probably was Randy Rhoades' musical contribution which propelled Ozzy's solo career to the heights it achieved, but Kerslake and Daisley also without a doubt (just listen to Daisley's "Crazy Train" bass-lines!!!) easily played just as critical a role in reinvigorating a truly burned out and broke Ozzy Osbourne. To simply ERASE their contributions is a tragedy. What's next, get Alexi from CHILDREN OF BODOM to re-record Randy Rhoads' guitar solos!!!

I will NOT buy this CD! - Because it's NOT original - Short and clear - And I ask others do the same - I'm Ozzy fan - Classic and Original Ozzy - NOT Sharon's Ozzy

awesome the very best ozzy album ever with zakk shredding guitar as always ooohhyeah! rock on! i love his old stuff and i love this album even more. i was lerry when i listened to it at the music store cause it sounded a little strange at first i don't know why. its ozzy and zakk you really cant go wrong. add it to your metal collection now!

i hate that they make these 2 cds set after they make the safe mother earth package that i have and the normal cd booklet, now for the extra tracks the true fans and what i mean by true fans are the fans that pay the artist for his hard work and not download the cd for free.
will hate that they dont have this, but also will think a lot about paying again for just few more songs.
i love ozzy songs but i hate that his making all these best of cds that he made in the last 5 yrs and i hate that his making a milk the cow 2 cds set - i hope that ozzy didnt plan this and that this is just another plan from the company or the wife.

I was not expecting to like this album as much as I do. The first single off the album did not wow me, but rest assured that most of the album is better than the "I Don't Wanna Stop" single. Zakk does a great job on this record as you'd expect. Bonus tracks are great too. Obviously the way this album was released is lame, but I'm just reviewing the album. I dig it, get you some.

An absolute awesome collection of new songs. Track 5, "The Almighty Dollar" is a bit different for the Oz, but one of, if not the best track on the disc. The "old man" can still rock!

I own the original version and this is a solid CD. Not that Ozzmosis crap. Heavy riffs and solid beats. Kinda like Down to Earth v.2. Not really a bad song on it(closest is Lay Your World on Me, not a spectacular ballad). After 2 other versions of this CD, screw the record companies, buy this puppy used. Worth every penny...just don't let the record companies get any for it. I bought this blindly the day of launch, and was very impressed. Still gets regular play in my car/Zune. I'm giving it 3 stars for the stunts the record companies pull these days. If you like metal/Ozzy, you owe it to yourself to get this disk.

I remember buying this when it was first released on vinyl. I wore this sucker out. Randy was simply the best. Rippin' chops but with an amazing melodic sensability. An amazing talent as this album demonstrates. If you are unfamiliar with Randy, BUY THIS!!!

As the title suggests this release is a tribute. To one Randy Rhoads to be specific, killed in a bout of (terminal as it turns out) stupidity as the light plane he was in crashed as it was buzzing the tour bus. Band biographies are rife with stories of bands cavorting about like chickens with their heads cut off and most of the time all ends well. The tragedy is that it doesn't always and this pretty darn tasty Ozzy live album is not only serviceable in it's own right as a release but does show the talents of the deceased guitarist. Which only reinforces the loss.

Song selection is pretty good with lots of metal, some metal and for a bit of garnish some metal is blasted out of your stereo with only a few let ups of pace. In this case that's probably a good thing as Ozzy works best when firing at a manic pace. And given the guy repeatedly tells the audience to stand up - even for Revelation (Mother Earth) which is one of the mellower cuts - it's probably a necessity to really blaze away.

And blaze this does. Tunes such as I Don't Know, Crazy Train and Mr Crowley all work very well live as they are built of pretty strong stuff. Suicide Solution is a perfect choice for inclusion here as it is essentially about another life cut too short, in this case that of Australian vocalist Bon Scott. Steal Away includes Tommy Aldridges' drum solo so be warned, but the extended guitar solo on Suicide Solution is pretty welcome. As the collection unfolds the scarcity of any let up is impressive and a few Sabbath standards are dusted off in the guise of Iron Man and also Paranoid. I dunno, the first one never really made any impression on me, perhaps you had to be 15 in 1973 or whenever it came out. But the latter is a far more communicative track and really sounds pretty darn metallic and anarchic here. Perhaps my favourite version of my favourite track with which Ozzy is associated.

Goodbye to Romance is well placed after Paranoid and it shows that someone was paying attention to the pacing of this thing which speaks of focus and a certain care factor. And the humour of No Bone Movies is probably a good way to close out the album proper before some Randy Rhoads out-takes finish the disc in a way that makes you contemplate...stuff.

Produced and engineered by Max Norman this all sounds consistent and a couple of liner notes by the Prince of Darkness himself add a certain touch to things. A pretty good live album all round and for Ozzy fans probably a must purchase and the sort of album that will have a very long life span as new generations of rivet heads explore the history of their chosen genre.

here is some of the best live rocknroll youll ever hear.superb musicianship,and,singing on the part of ozzy.more than anything else this cd showcases randys brilliant playing.studio performances are one thing,but to do it live and sound even better takes rare ability.drummers and bassists should also be paying attention to this as well.in my view,this is ozzy at his absolute finest.

This is my favorite album of all time. As a guitar enthusiast, nothing even comes close to the sound demonstrated by Randy. His combination of MXR distortion and classical style brought to life Ozzy's Black Sabbath material. Not to mention, resurrected Ozzy's career.

Hits like 'Crazy Train' and 'I Don't Know' are simply amazing. Too bad `Over the Mountain' is not on this album.

Of all the styles available to guitar players, I love Randy's the best. It's a shame he's passed on because no one has come close to his level of talent. He was the best.

This is an unbelievable cd. I usually don't like live albums but this is probably a better live album than the studio recordings. Buy it.

I would never buy a remix of his first three albums and detest the fact so many 70's and 80's classics are being re-done digitally, Led Zeppelin included. This sort of forced me back into record collecting again, and a clean vinyl record from this era sounds better than any CD ever could. (ripped to MP3 on my computer of course).

"Bark At The Moon" is probably the most underappreciated Ozzy album to this day, with possibly his best gem of a song ever "Waiting For Darkness" stuck at the end of the album. Hypnotic, great guitar work by Jake E. Lee, and Ozzy embraces Jake's style on this album, deciding not to mimick Rhode's classical overtones and classic rock-metal style at all.

It works and there are some top notch songs on this one that stand up to anything he's ever done, although I lost interest in his music after this album to be honest. It's much like I quit listening to Triumph and Rush after "Sport Of Kings" and "Grace Under Pressure" once the mid-80's came around, as a kid.

My personal favorites here that aren't often talked about or played anywhere, are "Centre Of Eternity" and "Waiting For Darkness." "Slow Down," the title track, "So Tired," and "Rock and Roll Rebel" all received significant radio airwave time when this was released, and for years after. But they aren't remembered or re-played a fraction as much as "Crazy Train" or "Over The Mountain" or "Flying High Again," or his radio songs in the post-Bark era.

I also saw this tour when Motely Crue was opening up for him, touring for "Shout At The Devil." Circus magazine was my addiction and hard rock music's hey day, it's debauchery, satanic overtones and all, are what I grew up with. "Bark At The Moon" was right in the middle of it all.

Let me tell you something about Ozzy Osbourne- even when he makes an album that doesn't rock as hard as the other ones, you can always ALWAYS count on excellent songwriting to make up for the lack of heavy guitar riffs. That's the case with Bark at the Moon.

All the opinions that say the title song is the only worthwhile moment on the album is something I *completely* disagree with. You also have the highly energetic "Centre of Eternity", and the tender ballad of 'So Tired". You have the lyrically meaningful "You're No Different" and the upbeat vocal melody of "Now You See It (Now You Don't)". You have it all.

Now let's talk about the guitar player, Jake E. Lee. While he's obviously not as good as the groundbreaking previous guitarist that played on the two previous Ozzy albums, he can handle himself quite well. In fact, several times I'm left completely convinced he's a really good guitarist, because I can hum many of the guitar solos from this album. He knows how to make his solos melodic and interesting, which is something not many guitarists know how to do. That makes him a good replacement.

Bark at the Moon is a CLASSIC album from the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.

Ahh, Ozzy. What can I say? With each release, his material seems to be doing a poorer job of standing the test of time. While this one starts out with the always fun "Bark at the Moon," the follow up "You're No Different" sounds as if it could be played during the obligatory montage in a dated 80s film...you know, the part where they show a loner on his motorcycle, and perhaps a snippet of a love scene, and try to summarize a long journey during the space of a single song? Yeah, this song is really not improving with age, sadly. Straight up (albeit overly repetitive) rocker "Now You See It (Now You Don't)" follows, with some unfortunate, and completely unnecessary sound effects. At this point, I must cringe at the way this material is so grounded in the cheese of the 80s. Fortunately, the album takes a turn toward the positive, with album highlight "Rock 'n' Roll Rebel," which features some compelling guitar work. The remainder of the album doesn't sound quite so dated, but it's hardly Ozzy's best work.

DO NOT BUY THE 2002 OZZY REMASTERS of his first two albums (Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman)! They are NOT the originals, and have been rerecorded by newer members of Ozzy's band, as a way to screw over the old members who are owed $$$ for the work they did. Seek out the 1995 remasters, instead. Reward the musicians who actually made the music!

Sharon Osbourne...what can I say. A very sad choice to tamper with the first three albums. Three heavy-metal classic, destroyed! I only hope that the original will someday resurface. But anyways. This album open with an extremely catchy, heart pounding title track. This is actually my favorite Ozzy song! Jake E. Lee is awesome on guitar! Jake E. Lee is an amazing guitarist! I'm not gonna compare him to Randy Rhodes. It's unfair, first of all, because they are two completely different guitarists. Randy Rhodes...a beautifully amazing guitar player. His work on Blizzard and Diary are awesome, awe-inspiring, and undoubtedly an innovative,inspirational piece to guitar players/shredders, heavy metal devotees, etc. This album features a few ballads, but all in all...this is a good album. Considering this album was recorded and release less than a year after the loss of dear friend and guitarist Randy Rhodes, he was very composed here...a lot of stuff going on! Look for the 1995 remastered version only (the the small album cover in the center and the gray-swirly border), it sounds great and best of all...it is UNTAMPERED (not a remix!)! Just take a listen the opening shows you how talented Jake E. Lee, and if you compare him to Randy Rhodes, acknowledge that Jake is a VERY talented guitarist who happened to join the band after Randy's death, he wasn't involved with it, or hoping for it, it happened, the opportunity arose to join a band led by a man who had already been a part of rock/metal history. Once again take a listen to this album, look for a used one on Ebay or amazon...finding this new will be pretty hard, as it has been out-of-print for nearly six years now, it will be worth the effort, believe me. AND REMEMBER...DON'T COMPARE JAKE E. LEE TO RANDY RHODES!!!! Check out Jake E. Lee on the follow-up " The Ultimate Sin". The Ultimate Sin, by the way, is out-of-print in the US...in any form! I actually found a copy,brand new on tower.com(the US 1995 Remastered version), to release my scratched 10 year old CD. [...]

I give "Bark At the Moon" five stars based solely on the quality of the songs. It has nothing to do with the remastering of the CD or the extra track (although I am glad to see other people are a bit upset at the "remastered" version on chain music store shelves).

The extra instrumentation on Ozzy's albums is really unnecessary. As previous reviewers have suggested, why can't the original album just be re-released and let whoever wants the extra stuff have it? (As for me, I'm a stickler for the original.)

"Bark At the Moon" is my all-time favorite Ozzy solo album. There were multiple copies of this floating around in my house in the '80s because it was played so much. This has to be Ozzy's most underrated album. I read an interview a few years ago where he stated that this was his least favorite album, but I don't see why (apart from the fact that it was his first album without Randy Rhodes on guitar). It's chock full of strong, original material.

One tune especially sums up his entire career: "Rock and Roll Rebel." If that doesn't described Ozzy in a nutshell ...

The beginning of "Centre of Eternity" always had me putting the needle back or rewind the tape numerous times. "You're No Different" gave me a view into hypocrisy at a young age, and "So Tired" is one of the best slow songs ever, I also love the melody for "Waiting for Darkness." (And the video for the title track is a real treat!)

Every Ozzy solo album (except his newer ones) I love from beginning to end, but "Bark At the Moon" stands out for me as a cut above the rest. - Donna Di Giacomo

I've always liked Ozzy with or without Black Sabbath.

No more tears has mostly ok songs but few stand out as excellent. Mr. Tinkertrain has strange lyrics but is probably the best song on the cd. Hellraiser is a motorhead song featured at the end of Hellraiser 3 and Ozzy's version of it is pretty good. Zombie stomp is interesting and cool sounding. Desire is melodic.

The complaints are that No more tears has a weak mixing and mastering production. It doesn't have that rich and resonating heavy sound you hear in a lot of good sounding metal cds. Also you can also tell this was recorded when Ozzy wasn't at his prime. His voice sounds a little bit strained and shot. Zack is great guitarist but he doesn't get to show off his skills too much or too often on this cd. There are also too many cornball ballads on this. .

I give no more tears a C+

Coming into 1991's No More Tears, Ozzy Osbourne hadn't put out a truly GREAT album, since 1980' s Blizzard of Ozz. Diary of a Madman and Bark at the Moon both sound incredibly dated, The Ultimate Sin was good, but not up to Blizzard's standard, and while Zakk Wylde's guitar work gave No Rest for the Wicked a fresh sound, Ozzy's vocals just didn't seem to really hit home.

And then this happened. A complete album, and the one we've been wanting since we saw what Ozzy was capable of. Zakk's guitar is just massive, here, and Daisley's bass tightly thumps throughout, backing some of Ozzy's best vocal work.

Some highlights:

---Zakk's solo on "I Don't Want to Change the World"

---"Mama, I'm Coming Home"...Ozzy's best ballad since "Goodbye to Romance" and "Revelation" graced our ears on Blizzard, and possibly his best since Black Sabbath did "Changes" on Vol 4

---Zakk's solo on "No More Tears"

---"Hellraiser"...gotta love songs about rock n' roll!

---Zakk's solo on "Time After Time"

...and so forth. Even the laughably ridiculous track ("Zombie Stomp") has killer guitar work...just a joke of a chorus. If they had thought of a better chorus and title for that one track...some lyrics worthy of the musicianship behind it, then this would get a perfect score. As it is...4.5.

He was there in the 70's with all time classic rock with Black Sabbath.
He continues to rock in the 80's and there he goes in the 90's, a great pure rock album. Ozzy even got some major hits like Mama I'm coming home and No more tears. Zaak Wylde is just amazing. A very good addition to your cd collection. Good work Ozzy !

Ozzy delivers huge on this album with big hooks and awesome melodies it's no wonder he's one of the most celebrated men in rock history. Though I'm not sure he gets the respect he deserves. Hard rock and metal bands should be taking more notes from him rather than from idiots like Lamb of God, Pantera, or Tool. Need we forget that Ozzy's biggest influence is The Beatles, and he writes melodies that would make even Paul and John wet themselves!!!

This album is so great! It takes some Black Sabbath aspects and mixes it all up with recent Ozzy and WOW! what an explosion of some of Ozzy's best songs ever!!

Props to Ozz for giving free tx for his fans but the live Randy Rhodes songs sounded like somebody punched Old Ozzy in the throat=( The cd I like the rock songs skip the I Love Sharon songs. after R.R. era get this after Ozzmosiss Hits Speak --- Devil

Older fans of Ozzy Osbourne won't be too surprised by the decidedly heavy tone of Ozzy's latest project, "Black Rain." Those folks who only know the domesticated Ozzy from his MTV show will most likely view this album as a wake-up call. The loud reassurance of tunes like "Not Going Away" and "I Don't Wanna Stop" comes as a boot to the collective bottoms of younger rock bands that currently rule the airwaves. It reminds them that although he's getting a bit long in the tooth, Ozzy can still rock and probably will until the day he dies. The aforementioned tracks as well as "11 Silver" "Countdown's Begun" and "Trap Door," are all excellent rockers. "Civilize The Universe," "The Almighty Dollar" and "Black Rain" are nice mid-tempo rockers that hint at Ozzy's sound in the late 80's/early 90's. Two solid ballads are also included, the better of the two being "Lay Your World On Me."

Overall, Ozzy, Zakk Wylde, Mike Bordin and Blasko have put together an excellent set of tracks for "Black Rain." There's no stopping the Ozzman any time soon as far as this album is concerned. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Ozzy's older work as well as fans of Black Label Society, hard rock of the 80's/90's and the kiddos who think Ozzy is nothing more than a burned-out rocker. Hide the Nickelback albums, boys, the prince has returned!

What can I say... This is the Best Music I own. Ozzy Rocks!

I spent a LOT on this special edition of the CD to get 2 extra songs. Little did I know a newer version would come out with 4 extra songs. I feel duped! Please buy the version with more songs for less.

Since Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon" album was released in 1983; with new guitar axeman Jake E. Lee, because Randy Rhoads was very hard to replace for Ozzy. Even the thought of using Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis or Dokken's George Lynch were in the mix. Since guitarist Gillis played on Ozzy's "Speak of the Devil" live album. Jake E. Lee held his own playing with the hit songs "Bark at the Moon and Rock N' Roll Rebel".
In 1986 this album "The Ultimate Sin" was released and Mtv rock videos were really popular. Ozzy and Jake got to be in a few classic videos; with songs "Shot in the Dark and Lightning Strikes" and with clips from the VHS live video "The Ultimate Ozzy" was also released. I think this album "The Ultimate Sin" was Jake E. Lee's better guitar work than "Bark at the Moon", even though there are just 9 songs on the album/cd. I also think songs "Thank God for the Bomb and Fool like You" really stand out.
It's worth jamming, so turn it up! I also had to order this cd import from Germany for my collection. The Ultimate Sin

The Ultimate Sin would be not bothering to give this great album a chance because it's not listed as one of Ozzy's finest moments. Personally I like it a lot more than No More Tears because back in the mid 80's the spirit of heavy metal was in full bloom. I know Ozzy was going through some personal problems at the time it was recorded, but honestly, it didn't really affect the music in a negative way if you ask me. It's the same old "love him or hate him" Ozzy that's we've known for years.

It's funny how some people think "Shot in the Dark" is the only good song on here. No way! That means we'd have to ignore the ultra melodic "Never Know Why", "Thank God for the Bomb", and the flat out awesome "Lightning Strikes". The title song is pretty good too.

"Killer of Giants" reminds me of "Fire in the Sky", and if you like that song from No Rest for the Wicked, you'll like this one as well. It's songs like this that make Ozzy an excellent singer. I don't care if he has a high pitched voice that drives some people insane- when he sings a song like this, with the meaningful war lyrics and everything, it makes him a very good singer. You care about the lyrics, and you care about the way he sings them because you can remember the vocal melody. He's a good singer.

"Secret Loser" is a classic. It's like a heavy pop song that really sounds good. I like this album a lot. The guitar playing might be somewhat lacking in a couple areas, but it's seriously not enough for me to dislike it or anything.

AFTER RANDY'S DEATH THIS WASN'T A BAD ALBUM. OZZY WAS JUST TRYING TO FIND HIMSELF. THERE WAS A LOT OF GREAT SONG'S ON THIS ALBUM ANYWAY. ESPECIALLY THE RIFF'S THAT JAKE E. LEE CAME OUT WITH WHERE GREAT RIFF'S. SHOT IN THE DARK WAS A MELLOW BUT HARD HITTING SONG JUST LIKE LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN. YOU CANNOT FORGET THE HEAVY GUITAR PLAYING ON NEVER KNOW WHY ESPECIALLY THE SOLO ON THE END OF TRACK. AND THE LAST SONG I'M AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT IS THE ULTIMATE SIN, THIS WAS A GREAT SONG TO OPEN THE ALBUM OUT WITH BECAUSE IT HAD A LOT OF GREAT DRUM BEATS ON IT ALSO GREAT GUITARING. SO IF YOU ARE A FAN OF OZZY I WOULD BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!

After two albums that have aged terribly, Ozzy Osbourne strikes back, with some quality hard rock. True, this material is a bit dated, as well, but not nearly as much as the work he did on Diary of a Madman and Bark at the Moon. For the most part, this is vintage Ozzy material. Heavy riffs, soaring vocals...an all around strong album. "Killer of Giants," in particular, is impressive and an album highlight. As far as his hits go, however, "Shot in the Dark" hasn't aged as well as, say, "Crazy Train" or "Flying High Again." On an album that gets away from a lot of the cheese of his last two efforts, that track in particular fails to do so. It isn't a bad track...far from it...but it is a bit dated. Overall, though, a very good album...Ozzy's on the upswing!

DO NOT BUY THE 2002 OZZY REMASTERS of his first two albums (Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman)! They are NOT the originals, and have been rerecorded by newer members of Ozzy's band, as a way to screw over the old members who are owed $$$ for the work they did. Seek out the 1995 remasters, instead. Reward the musicians who actually made the music!

While not as good as his early solo stuff, it still is good. to me breakin all the rules and fire in the sky are the albums standouts.

No Rest for the Wicked is a bit different from the previous Ozzy albums, thanks to a drastically different guitarist. I'm honestly NOT a fan of his playing, but he's good enough for this outing.

"Miracle Man" is definitely a classic, along with "Fire in the Sky" and "Breaking All the Rules". I'd say, if you're a fan of Ozzy's singing and vocal style, this is a great album.

But the guitar playing isn't very good most of the time, even though it's tolerable at least (it would become a screechy, annoying mess on the No More Tears album). For here at least, the guitarist knows not to go overboard and keeps things somewhat simple. It's not as good of an album as the previous four (Blizzard of Ozz through Ultimate Sin) but it's memorable for Ozzy's vocals alone.

I had this cassette years ago when it came out. I had it and got rid of it. After listening to it on Amazon, the songs got me interested. I purchased the cd. It is Zakks first cd with Ozzy and a classic. The songs bring back good memories, and the songs are great. Personal favorites are "Miracle Man," "Tattoed Dancer," "Fire In The Sky," and "Hero." This cd is remastered with bonus songs "The Liar," and an unrealeased live performance of "Miracle Man." Glad I purchased this cd again. An Ozzy classic. Thank you Amazon.

I'm not a huge Sabbath fan. Nor more than a casual Ozzy fan, so the fact that I've awarded this thing one of my rare five starts and played it to death over the years is a testament to just how good this thing is.

Starting off with Miracle Man, a humourous and perenially timely attack on sanctimonious preachers, this album promises metal on metal. And it delivers with Ozzy in scintillating form. The man at his most attacking in the aforementioned Miracle Man, at his most broken and plaintive in Fire In The Sky, at his most vicious and morally bankrupt in Devils Daughter and Tattooed Dancer and at his most autobiographical in Demon Alcohol.

And the focus of the whole thing is kind of intimidating. Sure, during the late 90's and the 00's we got used to the feeling that bands had hugely focussed on the minutiae of their albums but in the 80's that wasn't always the case and for a chemical commando like Ozzy you couldn't take it for granted that there would be such focus. But the whole organisation seems 100% behind this disc from the star production team of Keith Olsen and Roy Thomas Baker through to the band of expert veterans. Bob Daisley and Randy Castillo are certainly 'name' guys to have as your engine room and Zakk Wylde is at his manic best, basically forging his own legend with riffs that would withstand a nuclear blast and solos so biting they'd carve through battleship armour.

But hey, don't take my word for it - it's cheap enough so add it to your cart and crak it in the comfort of your own home!

The beginning of a new era begins for Ozzy Osbourne, with the addition of axe slinger Zakk Wylde (also of Black Label Society). And the difference is noticeable, from the outset. The sound of this album, beginning with "Miracle Man," is noticeably heavier, less grounded in 1980s stereotypes, and generally more...well, more METAL! Zakk's shredding ability carries "Devil's Daughter (Holy War)," where Ozzy's vocals seem a little weak, and his presence on "Crazy Babies" really makes the most of a fun, blues infused rockin' track. Throughout the album, Ozzy does things that are different from what he's done in the past (a good thing...some of the old was getting a bit stale). This album, while lacking the obvious hits of some previous efforts, marks a turning point in Ozzy's career and a breath of new life into his music.

This is my favorite solo ozzy album. Buy this with Blizzard and you get why "OZZY is GOD" is or was a popular saying. Ozzy rocks Rhandy rocks the tunes rock this is rock!

This is leaps and bounds better than blizzard of ozz just the musicanmanship that randy displays is great the riffs are better and the guitar solos are great also he has better musicans on this one rudy sarzo on bass who later of quiet riot fame and tommy aldridge on drums later of whitesnake fame was also on bark at the moon I've read some reviews of this album by other writers and they say that rudy and tommy are sessions musicans meaning that kerslake and bain wrote the bass lines and drum parts and they were just played by different musicans I don't know if that is true or not bain has been with ozzy quite a lot he was also on no rest for the wicked anyway every song is great when i put this cd in my stereo I listen to the whole thing not pick a song here or there a must for ozzy fans and randy rhoades fans his music will live on forever also quiet riot put out a cd called the randy rhoades years the beginnings of a great it's different than his ozzy stuff it's good to hear his early work even though I always thought quiet riot sucked they were like twisted sister with a couple of anthem songs that made them diary of a madman great cd I picked it up for a penny on amazon great steal

I must agree with other reviewers on this version. This is a great ablum but the remastered version is just terrible. Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin just don't muster up to what had been performed by Bob Daisly and Lee Kerslake: not by a long shot. The drums are virtually mute and the bass is too loud. Whatever moneys they might want in royalties, Ozzy should just pay up and give us what was before, not this re-doctored crap. Don' buy this version and get the original with Daisly's and Kerslake's tracks if you can.

This is just false advertisement taking Ozzy fans for suckers and nothing more. To all fans world wide who feel they've been ripped off by this terrible remix labeled 'remastered' and who want to send a message to the music industry to stop taking us for idiots, I would suggest filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (F.T.C.) at www.ftc.gov reporting such sales tactics as being false advertisement in violation of U.S. Federal law. They will investigate it and, given the fact that there is no indication that this album is really a remix of new tracks until you buy it and look inside for the details, they will probably fine Ozzy and the label more than what it would have cost them to pay Bob Daisly and Lee Kerslake their royalties.

Otherwise, this is pretty much the best of the collaboration between Rhoads and Ozzy. A five-star album with excellent lyrics and great mucial arrangements that were much more thought out than those in Blizzard.

I saw Ozzy on both his Blizzard of Oz tour and his Diary of a Madman tour. I bought both albums when they were brand new. The biggest mistake Ozzy made in his solo career was getting ride of Bob Daisly and Lee Kerslake. That was until Sharon and he made these awful remasters. Go to a record store and buy used copies of the originals. It is amazing what greed can do to rich people. Ozzy should be ashamed of this. It was bad enough when he (and Sharon) put pictures of his new band on the original album sleve but to not even put the real music on the cd reisue is a bad joke. This is a 5 star ripoff of a great album. And I mean 5 star in a very bad way.

God, what an ugly move. What an AWFUL move to have bass parts and drum parts re-recorded in 2001, because you refuse to pay royalties to the original performers.

The bottom line is you DON'T mess with a classic recording such as this. The energy and original tightness of this landmark metal album is absolutely destroyed with the re-recording of the bass guitar and drums by Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin.

In Trujillo's and Bordin's defense, they're great players..... on FAITH NO MORE and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES albums..... know what I mean?

Apparently, the original players, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake were bugging Ozzy for royalties due. Ozzy didn't want to pay up, or Sharon stepped in, or something.... but Robert and Mike were asked to record over the original bass parts and drum parts.

If I were Mike (I am mainly a drummer), I wouldn't even CONSIDER having my parts over the originals. No matter WHAT Ozzy would be paying. It's not worth messing with such brilliance. Talk about bad musical karma!

And if I were Robert.... man, that guy is all about the funky bass playing. He excels at slap bass, and his work with Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves proves this constantly. But bringing him in to play bass like it was the early 80s? Sorry, Robert, you fall completely flat on your face.

The re-recordings are an absolute vomit-inducing travesty to listen to. When I found out these songs had those parts re-recorded in 2002, I gave them a listen. 45 seconds into "Over The Mountain" and I immediately hit stop on the CD player, hit eject, and threw the damn thing across the record store I worked at, at the time. The recordings made me sick. Literally.

Your best bet, as a diehard fan, is to pick up the 1995 remaster (with the huge OZZY letters on the front, and tiny album artwork in the center), or better yet, find the original CD releases from the 80s. They're not too hard to find. Just make sure you avoid that 2002 copyright date, and the "Extra tracks".... they're a dead giveaway that it is the re-recording.

Don't support the destruction of musical genius. At the very core, the playing by Robert and Mike is SLOPPY. It's probably not their fault. It's not easy to play along to only Ozzy's singing and Randy's guitar parts, even if there's a click track inserted to play along to.

For the drummers and bassists out there: have you ever played along to a record, with headphones? You're never completely tight. It's hard to play along to stuff like that... it's never tight like a band practice or when you go into the studio and ALL PLAY TOGETHER.

I've made my point... get the 1995 remaster or the original CD (or vinyl). Hear the songs as they were meant to be heard, in their original context and performances.

Long live Ozzy-fronted Sabbath, and the original (unaltered) recordings of Ozzy solo.
