Pretty Ricky

Now these guys arent the most talented band to walk the earth. Not even close. They dont have the best lyrics or the best vocals, whether it be rapping or singing. But what they do have, is pop appeal. They make music, that people can just enjoy listening to. Its not music that will blow you away because they have amazing lyrical talent, or because the production is perfect. They make music that is easy to like. They make really catchy songs that you find yourself singing despite wanting to. The one thing i have said from the begining though, is that Pleasure (The singer) is going to go solo. And sure enough he did. Because he was easily the most talented of the group. Wheater he will be successful or not on the solo tip, no one knows. But what i do know, is that on both of Pretty Ricky's albums, Pleasure was the one i always remembered sticking out the most. The other three members are decently talented, but i couldnt ever tell who was rapping on a certain song like i could tell you Pleasure was singing. But that same trend continues on this album as well, Pleasure sticks out the most with his creamey smooth vocals on tracks like the laid back summer anthem "Leave It All Up To You" or even on the heartbreak ballad "So Confused". Hes just the most talented out of the four. But my favorite song probably has to be the really relaxed sexy track "Up and Down", where again, Pleasure sticks out like a sore thumb over the lightly played piano track. "Up and Down" is definetly the baby maker of this album. Another great track is the second single "Push it Baby" which, like i predicted, was a huge club smash. And thats basically what Pretty Ricky was, they were a R&B/Rap group that didnt make albums that would knock you over the head with super deep lyrics, they just stuck to the plan and made the club/radio hits, mixed with some of the baby making/sexy matireal that made them popular. The only thing that made that this album a little bit better than Bluestars, was that the content on this album was still very sexually charged like on Bluestars, but the tracks on this album gave off a more mature sexiness than on Bluestars. Overall, Late Night Special isnt gonna win any awards for album of the year, but its at least more mature and it still satisfys the fans. PR definetly made a step forward with this album!

This Cd was ok,It was all about sex as usual but i feel that their first album was better!I'll be glad when Pleasure drop his solo album.

I love this CD, I listen to it straight through. I Like all the songs, Spec's voice is just mmmmmm..... I'd say if you like Pretty Ricky you'll love this CD. And so what if it's all about sex, what else is there to talk about amongst 20 year old males...Religion? Please...Give me a break. For what it's for it does the job. Trust Me.

Awful, awful, awful lyrics....why does it have to be all about SEX. Can we sing about something else....why do lyrics today have to be so raunchy, just straight up nasty! Are they that crazed for SEX. Teens today need to know that other things exist other than sex, violence, and drugs...there's nothing "special" about this at all.

So I was kind of skeptical about this cd. But I gave it a try anyway. And I am pretty glad that I did. The cd is great! All the songs are good and the boys blend the vocals and rapping perfectly. The rap lyrics, could have been stepped up a bit though. The beats are well produced too. Overall, I say Pretty Ricky did their thing on this album. They don't even begin to compare to Jodeci, but they are worth checking out.
Hot Tracks: Push It, So Confused

Rookie R&B/Rap quartet, Pretty Ricky really surprised me with this album. Actually after reading all the negitive reviews about this album, i am surprised i even bought it. People really tore this album apart in the professional reviews. But none the less, i had some pocket change, so i copped it. And what i first wanna say, is this album is definetly not bad. I feel like now a days, the only thing these professional reviewers look for in albums, is the super deep lyrics. If an album doesnt have super deep lyrics or excellent production, then the album is crap to them. And i think that is totally stupid. They have made it so people almost feel bad for buying an album that isnt a "Five Star Album". Its like they only accept an album if its perfect. And i like that deep music just as much as anyone else. But at the same time, i do like to have a few albums in my car that i can just pop in and listen to without having to think real hard about what the music is talking about. Everyone needs to have their favorite driving music. Pretty Ricky is just that. Their lyrics are nothing special by any means, but they make enjoyable music that people can just relax and listen to without having to strain their minds to get the full effect of the music. Bluestars does have its fair share of faults, like the attempt to get street cred street banger "Chevy", and the very whiny "Nothing But A Number". But they excell on club tracks like the first two singles "Grind With Me" which was a huge radio hit, and the even better synth laced track "Your Body", which was also a huge radio hit. Another area they excell in is the summer anthem cruising songs like the sweet like a skittle "I Want U" which will easily become alot of peoples favorite track because of its sheer brightness, its an excellent song to cruise around to in the summer. They also really surprised me with the baby maker "Get You Right". But the one thing i noticed is that Pleasure (The Singer) really steals the spotlight on like 75% of the album. All of the hit songs and the great album tracks feature Pleasure really stealing the show. Overall its a very solid debut, just next time, im hoping for a more mature sound.

I love this CD. It is good to hear that this album has been certified GOLD. This album sold over 800,000 copies so far. This group pride themselves on maintaining the niche they have created throughout the years, appealing to the females while maintaining their unique look and style of music. They emerged with a unique flair, coupled with the discipline and tenacity that breeds chart-topping success. This album is so sexual.

I'd say I listen to EVERY type of music out there... really. I definitely have a weakness for rap, hip hop, and r&b, but rarely purchase an album of those genres and just rely on mixes. After hearing this one, though, I HAD to buy it. I'm kicking myself that I hadn't listened to this album when it first came out, because I just figured they were gonna be another 1-2 hit wonder. I think I was wrong...

Not only am I impressed that they sing and rap, instead of relying on outside artists to come in for cameos to sell singles, but just the composition of the songs themselves got me. They don't use crazy trendy club beats to sell.. every track has SO many layers... it's amazing to listen to. I honestly love every song on this album, and if you only know the singles "Your Body" and "Grind With Me" you should check these ones out:

I was looking at the Billboard Hot 100 last year like I do every week, and at one point I noticed a song that was making moves was "Grind With Me" by Pretty Ricky. I had never heard of the song, and after I listened to it, I wished I still hadn't heard of the song. I don't know what possessed me to listen to the full-length album, Bluestars, but I did and, well, I couldn't get the CD out of my stereo fast enough.

I agree with reviewer Hakeem when he said that all these five-star reviews must be from people that are on the group's street team or something. Pretty Ricky consists of four people: three rappers (Spectacular, Diamond "Baby Blue", and Slick -- and I use the term "rapper" loosely) and one singer (Pleasure). The problem with this album is that these are the horniest AND most talentless guys I have ever heard of, and that is a terrible combination. The lead single "Grind With Me" is really called "Grind On Me", and it's one of the nastiest things I have ever heard, but "Playhouse" isn't far behind. And "Nothing But a Number" is very, very statutory.

Also annoying is their use of dated lyrics, like "If lovin' you is wrong, I don't wanna be right" on "Grind On Me", or "If I'm lyin', I'm flyin'" on "Grill `Em" (what does that even mean, anyway?). The guys also have a habit of continually yelling certain adlibs, like "FROM THE BACK!" on "Get a Little Closer", and "Yes, sir!" on "Your Body". Also, while Pleasure's singing isn't HORRIBLE, it's hard to listen to after all that wack rapping. Actually, his chorus on "Shorty Be Mine" is sure to cause you DISpleasure.

Speaking of that song, things are equally unimpressive when the guys DON'T talk about sex, like on "Never Let You Go", "Can't Live Without You", and the obligatory bling-blingin' songs "Chevy" and "Grill `Em". But in the long run I guess all that doesn't matter because nobody cares about Pretty Ricky any more and as my brother said, they're probably now back to working at Wendy's. If I ever come across the Bluestars CD again, in the words of "Your Body", dammit, I'll beat it up.

WHEN I BROUGHT PRETTY RICKY OF COURSE IT WAS FOR THE JOINT "HOTLINE", BUT AS I LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE ALBUM IT'S REALLY NICE. THEY HAVE LOTS OF SLOW INTIMATE MUSIC ON THERE WHICH IS COOL FOR THE LOVERS. THEIR SOUND HAS A NICE BLEND TO IT THIS ALBUM TO ME IS A GOOD LISTEN TOO.

You guys, go buy the unedited version. Trust me it is a lot better. I just listened to the clean version, and i think that its great that these guys are rewriting lines instead of just leaving stuff blank because it shows that they are really commited to their music, but the unedited version is much better. these boyz shouldnt have to sugarcoat their lyrics just cuz some people are more easily offended. And besides, the unedited version has better songs.

Hi. It's me again. i really liked "Your body" But, they don't have that song on the CD. "Grind on me" was good. Pleasure is sexy. That's all. Personally, i like Bobby Valentino (My boo) better. Pretty Ricky is ok.

Bought tha clean version yesterday (it was the only copy Virgin they had left!!) and i gotta say this album is fantastic! Instead of leaving the curses blank, Pretty Ricky re write the whole line. There is NO spaces in this album, all the words are re-written. Not many artists can be bothered doing this nowdays. Now that's quality.

Bought the album yesterday and surprisingly like it!
I mainly got a copy for the "Grind with me" song and hoped the rest of the album was as to the same standard.
My favourite songs are Grind with me, Chevy and Nothing but a number.
The album is a mix of singing and rap and i think this works well, A bonus is that i think the band in some of the songs sound like CHINGY and crew but this works well for me.

this was one of those cuts that i blasted big time for a minute. Ricky,Ricky that was the catch phrase for a minute. this song has a cool catchy groove. the song has a late 80's early 90's vibe. it works.
