This album rocks! By far the best of their work. Anyone who says that this album sucks is a dumbass!

That might be a bold statement, in light of releases by greats such as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, and NOFX, just to name a few; however, this is a bold album, and it deserves proper recognition. I listened to it tonight for the first time in oh, about ten years, and remembered instantly why I loved it so much (as a rebellious teenager); it f___ing rules, end of story. The music is perfect; incredibly ingenuitive considering the style (as good as or better than comparable metal music (which I associate it most closely with, rather than "punk"...though it's technically "hardcore punk," "popcore," or "punkcore," I suppose) of its time), relentlessly a__-kicking, and flawlessly performed by highly talented musicians (especially considering the genre). All of this is a perfect background for the highly volatile lyrics that anti-preach everything from saluting the (Canadian) flag to Rastafarian culture to capitalism/consumerism to homophobia. There was a time when I listened to this album virtually non-stop...basically between the ages of 13 and 18. It just never got old...and listening to it again now, I could easily continue doing so endlessly again. It's simply flawless, easily the best Fat Wreck Chords release ever, and probably one of the top three punk albums ever, if not number one (I'd say it most evenly competes with NOFX's "Punk in Drublic" and Lagwagon's "Duh"...ok, maybe "Nevermind the Bollocks..." was more important, in retrospect, but come on...musically, its simplicity was overstated (and overrated)). If you've never experienced any "punkcore" (call it whatever you want, really...I don't care), this is the perfect place to start...why save the best for last? I myself am a die-hard metalhead, and generally don't like "punk" music because it's not musically challenging and is generally nothing more than pre-teen rage unleashed upon the world specifically for other raging pre-teenagers...but this album far exceeds the typical boundaries of the "punk" genre it resides in, and deserves to be...no, must be recognized as what it is: a simply fantastic album!

I will admit that when I first heard this album over a decade ago I though they sounded exactly like NOFX. But I was new to the punk scene and hadn't listen to much.
Now I have come to truly love and appreciate this album.
In this age of Pop-punk, Emo, and the other garbage that is all the scene (I admit some is OK, Ex:Two Gallants). It is utterly refreshing to hear some punk with just the right blend of guts, purpose, and melody.
Be warned, this band is left of left, but at least they are passionate and thoughtful, so just make your own judgements about their statements and enjoy the rock.

If someone says NOFX sucks its safe to say they suck. Ska Sucks is one of their best songs and there are lot of other great songs on here to boot. I bet this moron listens to Fallout Boy.

This cd sucks. They are total ripoffs of NOFX (and NOFX sucks) and appear to put no effort into most of their songs. They all sound the same, the drummer sucks, and the vocals are stereotypically bad. The back cover of their "funny" faces is lame and makes me ashamed to own this. At least I didn't pay for it. I do like Anti-Manifesto though.

I remember downloading "F**k The Border" and "Back To The Motor League" after listening to "How To Clean Everything" and "Less Talk, More Rock" for years, thinking, "This is Propagandhi?!?! Niiiiiiice!" It sounded like they officially arrived as a band, while also driving the lyrical content a tad smarter than the last outing. Their "essay to lyric" style of songwriting (more often than not ending a verse dead in the middle of a sentence, playing a guitar solo, then continuing the sentence in the next verse) has always been a thing I believed they could utilize more, and with this album, they do it to perfection, without having the intentional abrasiveness of say, Crass, while still keeping their "Stop singing along and pay attention to what I'm saying" message loud and clear. Propagandhi has always proclaimed to be metalheads at heart, and with the arrival of new bassist, "The Rod", they really open up to a sound that appears to be more inevitable than anything else. "How To Clean Everything" sounds like Tinkertoys compared to this album, both musically and lyrically, finally showing the world that a band who can perpetually reiterate "F**k You!" can also do their homework. They really offer so much more due to being conscious about everything in the world around them, not simply a band with a rant. Honestly, I've never heard a more haunting track than "Purina Hall Of Fame", and if anything, this album is much more a humbling experience, as you begin to realize how smart these guys actually are, and how serious they are about backing it up. Albeit short, this is really one of the greatest albums of music in it's genre.

This album is amazing, I enjoy it extremely. Chris hannah's singing is outstanding, and todd is a grizzly bear, but obviosly he makes the band complete. Jord plays drums how they should be played. Each song is different from one another. The best song any band ever created is probably Purina Hall of Fame, or A speculative fiction (From potemkin city limits)

The most important tracks to listen to are Mate Ka, Albright Monument, New home for idle hands, With Friends Like These, and Purina Hall Of Fame.

But the albums in order, and the newest one last, that one is a surprise.

From the haunting first to the haunting last song, this is a great CD. I don't agree with the person that said it's like Dead Kennedys because they are one of my other favorite bands and they have a different sense of humor...they are kind of sarcastic and out there and Propagandhi is more...satirical. But yeah. Get this CD, but first get Less Talk, More Rock, then How to Clean Everything, so the semi-darkness of this record won't come so unexpectedly as it did for me.

Okay, the main reason I write this is that I kept reading people referring to this as a hardcore album. Anyone that listens to a variety of music knows that Propagandhi is NOT hardcore. They themselves would find that label offensive. They are however very talented at making great music. This is the best in their career, no doubt. And as the one reviewer said it is angrier and faster and heavier than anything they have ever done. While I do not agree with everything they are for, I appreciate their passion and willingness to put out some things that most bands won't even go near. All of their albums are amazing and all should be picked up asap. I am anxiously awaiting their latest which should be done hopefully before I die. Please do yourself a favor and buy this album, and please don't call political pop-punk "hardcore"!

Propagandhi rival Slayer in how long it takes them to write a new album but I guess you can't
rush genius. And that's certainly what this latest disc is. This album is angrier, rawer, faster,
louder and more politically charged than anything they've ever done but sacrifices none of their
masterful metal meets punk songwriting style. It's hard to think they could top past
accomplishments which were already high water marks for the entire melodic hardcore genre
(yes better than NOFX) but this album is proof positive that these guys intend to remain king of the
hill (they would not approve of me referring to them as a monarchy!).

One thing that instantly upped the ante on their aggression is the new bassist. Fans may
remember the sweet voiced John Samson who sang the one or two pop songs on each of the
last records. He left to devote all his time to the Weakerthans. He was replaced by a screaming
fanatic who also sings (maybe yells is a better word) a few songs but these ain't no pop songs!
These are blazing hardcore songs that drop you like a swift kick to the balls, over before you hit
the ground. He's also got a more prominent spot in the mix which gives the sound a welcome
layer of strength.

The other thing that really pushes this record into the red is the complexity of the songwriting. The
time changes, all executed at breakneck speed, are truly stunning. Still, even this doesn't make it
a truly special hardcore record. What sets this apart is what happens in between. Any given song
is comprised of so many crazy drum fills, hook after memorable hook, and calm before the storm
breakdowns executed with such precision it's truly dizzying to follow. This could come across as
chaotic but track after track prove this combo of fists flying hardcore coupled with measured,
intricately timed melodic interludes is actually more cohesive sounding than any of their previous
work.

As I said above, this sucker is pissed off. There's no joke ska songs, there's no pop songs. Every
song is comprised of lightning fast riffs punctuated by melodic lead heavy hooks that take the
core of the Propagandhi sound from past records to a new level of technical prowess. Throw in
the best drumming this side of all but the best metal bands and a big new bass sound and you
literally have the best melodic hardcore record out there. How another band can ever attempt to
aspire to this level is beyond me so it's safe to say this album will remain tops until Propagandhi
finally manage to crank out another.

As strange as it may sound as minister for health in rural Australia, I was asked to reduce the number of h.i.v infections in the region I represent. I asked my Canadian counterparts for advise and they were only to happy to send me over 1000 "educational kits" related to being sexually and globally educated. Inside each kit was a condom and compact disc of the band Propagandhi with the title being "Less Talk More Rock."
Now perhaps I should back up here a bit. This part of Australia only recently got television (black and white). Most people here don't know what a compact disc is, and the brief instructions in the educational kit said "enjoy some music while having safe sex."
The problem with good ideas from elitists is that the simple folk in nowhereville, Australia stretched the condom between two fence posts to make a twanging sound they could hum too, and awkwardly the males placed the compact disc on their genitals to prevent conception. Mr Cooper of Wagga said " My god this makes a good contraceptive, feels like i'm having sex with a carrot grater." Other men were badly cut up, with doctors seeming to have the giggles when certain patients said they had actually forced themselves through the round window. It was however these doctors who informed the population that the condom was not the musical instrument and that in fact there were machines that could produce music when the compact disc was inserted into such a device. At first this all seemed like more Canadian bull, but in time the population were introduced to music produced by a compact disc and the rather more comfortable condom. However yet another problem was to occur. This was summed up by Mrs Winterbottom a sprightly 72 year old from Burke (Central New South Wales) she says, " I was all ready for bit of romance and so was me husband. We had just set up our compact disc player to fill the room with joy full glory to the lord when on come the most unholy racket. Lyrics about men having you know what with other men, and all this talk about how to make money out of investing in oil............ Well this sort of nonsense may be for all those fruitcakes in Sydney, constantly dressing up in wigs and underwear and wondering which toilet they should use, but here in the country we have standards!"
Regretfully my constituents have spoken, and we are sending the kits off to New Zealand who we are also selling our black and white televisions too, as we update to colour.

this album was so important to me when i was a lonely closeted little punk rock gay boy in the middle of nowhere. awesome brilliant political lyrics coupled with really engaging rhythms and head-bopping melodic lines...

Ok, I luv Propagandhi, but this album just doesn't do it. Granted I like their newer stuff much better, but HTCE was till a decent album. This is the same basic style, but more controlled. Lyrically, I dislike John John's contributions, thinking that they're not very good, boring, mundane, etc. etc. Overall, not very good Progressive Thrash. (He has done great stuff with The Weakerthans though.) Propagandhi put out their weakest tracks of their career on this album, and it's a good thing that TETA came out later; Otherwise, they would have gone the way of Lagwagon. So, if you like NOFX, you'll probably like this album. If you liked "How To Clean Everything," you'll probably like this album. If you liked "Today's Empire, Tomorrow's Ashes," Stear clear.

"Less Talk, More Rock" is fun activist punk that will make you dance and make you think. It's pro-feminist, queer-positive, anti-fascist and animal-friendly, proving that social change can be both serious and joyful. Besides, like Emma Goldman once said, "If I can't dance to it, then it's not my revolution!" Enjoy!

As stated, this album is re-freakin-diculous. Some of the best political punk i've ever heard. My one argument against it is its length. Ahhh, its just over a half hour long. Needless to say there is some crazyness in that half hour. A good addition to any music fan's collection. Go out and give them your money.

This album is absolutely incredible. Propagandhi had already proven themselves with past CD's as the greatest songwriters in modern punk, but with this album it solidifies it and puts them far, far ahead. There is a lot more melody to be found here, but there's still plenty of speed. The songs are very well put together and unique. The lyrics for this album are their best and they are incredible. This album should NOT be listened to without its lyrics. I've even just shown people the lyrics instead of the band and they were blown away. Chris' singing is much better on this album and Todd's voice improved even more. Todd's voice sounds quite different from TETA and its a vast improvement. There's a chance this album might alienate some fans of punk but there's no denying their credibility. This album is a masterpiece.

My first Prop. album actually... old school punker, used to hear the "new school" kids blasting Prop.'s first albums in a kitchen I used to work in... the philosophy is not new to me... but the passion, the fury, the serious musicianship... this is a momentous album, with a larger-than-life, almost epic sound... and it perfectly sums up my angry, deep, black mood of late... there is a profundity here.. one has a sense of depth... sublime at times, the sound takes older emo-core, mixes it with lighter screamo stuff, into a kind of thrash opera... trust me, it's a good and important album... I would expect better still from these guys...Punk Cookery, The Punk Rocker's Cafe Cookbook, Vegetarian Specialties

Literal in that from album to album, their music progresses and evolves, and figurative in the way that the word is used in the musical lexicon, meaning technical or complex. What strikes me as I read these other reviews is that people seem to be turned off by the literal progression of Propagandhi's music. They wanted another TETA, apparently. TETA is a great album, but I thought that Propagandhi fans would recognize and embrace the fact that this is not a band that puts out the same album twice.

Really, any fan of TETA should find plenty to love and more on Potemkin City Limits. Both albums retain the speed and intensity of their earlier "punk" influenced albums, but largely exchange the catchy "pop" hooks for metal crunch and muscle, with a big dose of hardcore supplied by The Rod. They are a pop-punk band no longer, and in a case of what I can only assume is amazing foresight, their music now finally lives up to their self-imposed tag of "pogressive thrash" (used by Chris and Jord prior to recording their first album). How did they know in the early 90's that they would become progressive thrash in the early 00's??

For me, this is by far the greatest Propagandhi album, and one of my all-time favorite albums period. I love the longer songs. They now give themselves time to not only finish a lyrical thought, but a musical one as well. They have never flexed their musical or political muscles as hard as they do here. Whereas before they gave us anthems to shout along with, now they delve deeper and will make you want to grab the booklet to read the lyrics (while you thrash away). Once you've read the lyrics and the lightbulb has gone on, you'll realize that Propagandhi is still delivering anthems, only now you'll feel like a smarter, more productive member of society as you shout along.

The album has a handful of good - decent songs on it. The band has really upped the experimental factor on this album, which I always welcome. Punk revival bands tend to suffer from monotony, ex: Pennywise, so its good that they are at least trying something different. What makes their experiment flawed is that they made the mistake of dragging a couple of the songs out too long. The end result: dry material.

This album lacks the tenacity and energy of their previous albums, such as "Less Talk, More Rock" and "Todays Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes".

In some ways it is very similar to 2001's YETA, which was also very different from HTCE and LTMR. Both albums have more layers, and those layers all feature heavy digital compression, whereas HTCE and LTMR were arranged with minimal instrumentation and retained greater natural dynamics. Also, the lead singer's voice (is his name Jord?) has lost its nasally whine from the first two albums.

What this new album has lost from YETA is the stylistic elements of the music. No longer do we have punky tracks like "Back To The Motor League" or "Today's Empires." Instead, we have longer and softer droning like "Cut Into The Earth" or "A Speculative Fiction."

Now, none of these forms are necessarily better or worse than the others. Indeed, the first two tracks, "A Speculative Fiction" and "Fixed Frequencies" are two of the greatest tracks Propagandhi has yet released. However, there is a great divide between this album and the other three--especially so for HTCA and LTMR. Considering that, it is difficult to expect most Propagandhi fans to appreciate this album fully, if at all.

All of that said, the album probably is not quite as worthy as its predecessors, even taking the stylistic differences into account. After those first two songs, the album slips into monotonous waters. Yes, it's still a pleasant listen, but it's just not as clever or catchy as it ought to be.

This CD is a must have for any propagandhi fan. It not only contains their side of their legendary split with I-Spy, but has a lot of other rare compilation tracks (most only available on wax) and tons of excellent live tracks. Some people complain about the sound quality on this, but I prefer it to their full-lengths. Yeah, it's raw, but it's a punk rock album. That's part of it's charm. I do wish this was a little bit more complete though, because this definitly isn't everything. I especially wish they would have put the studio version of "Pigs Will Pay" on here from their 7" on Fat. It's one of their best songs ever!

Propagandhi is awesome and this CD is great. The studio music is good, but the live stuff is just great. It is one part awesome and two parts hillarious...

some of these songs should have stayed on the 7 inches. Very rough mixes. Not the best but a must have for hardcore propagandhi fans.

Now I must admit, not EVERY song on this album is amazing, but there are 30+ songs! And the others are amazing! After a lot of thinking, I came up with the conclusion that this is my favorite CD... ever. With songs like "Oka Everywhere", "White, Proud and Stupid", and "Gamble", how can say How to Clean Everything is better? Huh?

You can't beat the price for as many tracks as you get. The only thing bad about this cd is you have to get use to hitting the forward and reverse buttons on your cd player to get though all the excess stuff they put on it.

this album was so important to me when i was a lonely closeted little punk rock gay boy in the middle of nowhere. awesome brilliant political lyrics coupled with really engaging rhythms and head-bopping melodic lines...

Ok, I luv Propagandhi, but this album just doesn't do it. Granted I like their newer stuff much better, but HTCE was till a decent album. This is the same basic style, but more controlled. Lyrically, I dislike John John's contributions, thinking that they're not very good, boring, mundane, etc. etc. Overall, not very good Progressive Thrash. (He has done great stuff with The Weakerthans though.) Propagandhi put out their weakest tracks of their career on this album, and it's a good thing that TETA came out later; Otherwise, they would have gone the way of Lagwagon. So, if you like NOFX, you'll probably like this album. If you liked "How To Clean Everything," you'll probably like this album. If you liked "Today's Empire, Tomorrow's Ashes," Stear clear.

"Less Talk, More Rock" is fun activist punk that will make you dance and make you think. It's pro-feminist, queer-positive, anti-fascist and animal-friendly, proving that social change can be both serious and joyful. Besides, like Emma Goldman once said, "If I can't dance to it, then it's not my revolution!" Enjoy!

As stated, this album is re-freakin-diculous. Some of the best political punk i've ever heard. My one argument against it is its length. Ahhh, its just over a half hour long. Needless to say there is some crazyness in that half hour. A good addition to any music fan's collection. Go out and give them your money.

This CD is a must have for any propagandhi fan. It not only contains their side of their legendary split with I-Spy, but has a lot of other rare compilation tracks (most only available on wax) and tons of excellent live tracks. Some people complain about the sound quality on this, but I prefer it to their full-lengths. Yeah, it's raw, but it's a punk rock album. That's part of it's charm. I do wish this was a little bit more complete though, because this definitly isn't everything. I especially wish they would have put the studio version of "Pigs Will Pay" on here from their 7" on Fat. It's one of their best songs ever!

Propagandhi is awesome and this CD is great. The studio music is good, but the live stuff is just great. It is one part awesome and two parts hillarious...

some of these songs should have stayed on the 7 inches. Very rough mixes. Not the best but a must have for hardcore propagandhi fans.

Now I must admit, not EVERY song on this album is amazing, but there are 30+ songs! And the others are amazing! After a lot of thinking, I came up with the conclusion that this is my favorite CD... ever. With songs like "Oka Everywhere", "White, Proud and Stupid", and "Gamble", how can say How to Clean Everything is better? Huh?

You can't beat the price for as many tracks as you get. The only thing bad about this cd is you have to get use to hitting the forward and reverse buttons on your cd player to get though all the excess stuff they put on it.
