Queens of the Stone Age

Huge fan of this band. I think this is their masterpiece to date (all albums including Era Vulgaris). Album by album, they seem to alter their sound a little; adding some ambience here, some texture there, new sounds, etc. This album captures all the elements of their sound in one package and it's the ish. I highly recommend this album to anyone who has ears and can hear.

one of the best things about queens of the stone age is that it's really difficult for me to liken them to any other band. they do what they do really well and it's always refreshing and different. i actually prefer era vulgaris to songs for the deaf, despite the fact that dave grohl's drumming on here is superb. overall though, this album is excellent.

This album takes you on a drive through the desert rocking your f'ing socks off even though you are stuck in traffic. If you are new to QOTSA, start here. If you know them, then Satan will torture you for not owning this.

This is a good cd with alot of good songs. They don't get alot of radio play but if you like the foo fighters this cd is for you.

Songs for the deaf i have to say is a really good album. We got some great songs on this one. Well of course there are some songs that i did not really enjoy, which is: six shooter, a song for the dead, you think i aint worth a dollar but i feel like a millionaire, and the final track; mosquito song. But still, all the rest of the songs like the sky is falling, no one knows, first it giveth, go with the flow, gonna leave you, do it again, and god is in the radio are pretty amazing. rock on queens of the stone age!!!!!!!

QOTSA is my favorite band out. Their albums through the years has evolved and morphed adding more laying and depth to the sound each time around. I think their pinnacle musically was Songs for the Deaf. Everything that they do just seemed to come together on that one. Anyway, this album continues their journey through music. It seems to go into a industrial type sound (a la- NIN) more this time around on a couple songs. It's only a couple songs though (battery acid, turnin on a screw). I'm not mad at them for continuing to expand their sound. It's just exactly my cup of tea. It's still got some good stuff on their that drives hard (3s and 7s, run pig run, river in the road) and some that are more 'melodic' (I'm designer, into the hollow, suture up my future). It's really not a bad album; I just miss the older sound a little and I'm a pretty tough critic on the artists that I like.

This was probably my favorite QOTSA Record yet. And if you're thinking about getting a QOTSA record, you should probably get this one.

While their last album came up a little short, QOTSA are back on track with this latest album. "Sick, Sick, Sick" is the pound for pound juggernaut on here leading in to the whacky arithmetic glam rock of "I'm Designer", were Josh Homme plays the part of a pretentious Gen-X cad over a squacking Gang of Four guitar. But the strongest, most solid song is "3's & 7's" an arena ready radio anthem right out of the nineties. Still, the best band of this decade.

I own every Queens album except there sadly out of print debut, but this is quite easily the best I've heard. Lullibies almost scared me off with medicore lyrics, dull guitar, or just plain bad delivery on nearly half the songs. But this album has more vision than any record that they've spun out. The songs are interwieving and complex, as well as softer, well not betraying either the bands metal or punkish roots. The lyrics have a deegree of poetry often absent from previous songs the bands made. The dark, vaugely artificial atmosphere is incrediable and inspired. Nothing as good as No One Knows, but some of their best songs. I've collected well reviewed albums for a year, ranging from The beatles to Public Enemy to Miles Davis to Metalica to Bruce Springsteen to My Bloody Valentine to Marvin Gaye to Funkedelic to many more, and this is the first Queens album to really rank up with the classics, except perhaps Songs for the Death. Its at least as good as Sticky Fingers or The Bends. If you can't appreciate this as much as Lullibies at least than I must say your taste must be very narrow.

This album is mixed so nicely, giving it a real old-school rock sound, and the LP definitely brings that out.

Plus, there's a bonus song not included on the CD.

This disc opens with the monster, "Feel Good Hit of the Summer", and keeps youy guessing all the way through. My favorite is "Into the Fade", with vocals courtesy of rock god Mark Lanegan. The only filler is the Oliveri tune "Quick and to the Pointless", but at least he makes it up with "Autopilot". Not my favorite QOTSA disc, but also necessary.

I bought this album after purchasing Songs for the Deaf because i could not stop listening to it. Months afterward the songs were still as incredible as the first time i listened. I got Rated R after reading the good reviews about it. Maybe its the lack of Dave Grohl, or just not being my type of music, because this hardly seems like the same band. Apart from Better Living Through Chemistry, i struggled to find a track that compared to Songs for the Deaf. Maybe it's more apt for a different genre but whatever it is, don't purchase it based on how much you enjoyed Songs for the Deaf.

If you like the Queens of the Stoneage you owe it to yourself to buy this record.You will not be disappointed

Songs for the Deaf is their best work, but this album is a very close second and better rounded than any of their other albums. A must for any fan.

In my opinion this record is the most raw and creative of all the QoTSA's records. The addition of Mark Lanegans vocals rounded off this record. I'd say if you like unique music, and hard rock. You should own this record.

This group styles themselves as Queens "of the Stone Age", but I think the band's name is a misnomer. The music style played by Joshua Homme and co has more in common with what I imagine to be the wild and sometimes haunting numbers played around the fires and in the temples of ancient Babylon and Chaldea than the supposed caveman's bare measured beats. It's not the QOTSA are playing "the horn, pipe, zither, harp & bagpipe" to give this impression. It's the way they seduce their guitars, drums, piano and occasional brass to high levels of energy, to jauntiness and jagged sweetness that takes you to a time where men were more obedient to their impulses - the progeny of lesser gods. The music offered here is not lullabies at all being more akin to tales told in our more primal history sung in all their fierce glory.

For example, my favorite cut, #8 "I Never Came" is a glorious interweave of multiple stick beats on rims in perfect time (Joey Castillo is awesome) counterpointed by the husky male vocals of Homme, all coiled around an adventurous guitar lead. Your body moves of its own accord - the music is everything. And yet, while I can recommend the music (although the audio recording itself is only mediocre) a caution must be given concerning their lyrics. When the Queens do so, they are not shy about describing in erotic detail their amorous joy la vie. Cut #11 "skin on skin" especially could shock. For this reason, I am glad that I can burn my own "best of QOTSA" cd, as this album, like their earlier stuff, is a mix (85/15) of songs both riotously rock and rawly risque.

My boyfriend and I thought that nothing could top "songs for the deaf" (our first QOTSA album)...we were so wrong. We've had this album a few months and have probably listened to it a hundred times by now. Every time I hear "the blood is love" I go into fits of ecstasy. Every time I hear Homme belt out the first few lines of "slow long goodbye" I get goosebumps.
Truth be told, there are a couple songs I'm not so fond of, but the rest of them are my favorites! I might be in love...

Back in 2005 I didn't give this album the listens it deserved. I had a lot of stuff going on, including the birth of my son. There was also the departure of Nick Oliveri, and in seeing such a 'high profile' member of the band leaving so soon after the success and attention "No One Knows" brought Queens of the Stone Age, just gave me warning signs. Another 'o here we go, success starts spilling in, the rats start jumping ship' mentality, and then you just have a band that just isn't as good, or the same as it once was. Missing the elements that got them there to your attenton in the first place. It's a bad mentality to have. It brings a pre-judgement of the work contained therein, and doesn't allow the piece to take a shape and form of its own. The departure of Oliveri surely affected Homme's songwriting. It shouldn't affect the way you listen to what he's done. But, alas, we are all subjective creatures and blah blah blah.

So after a month of celebrating 20 years of King's X by loading my mp3 player with only King's X and their solo projects material, and listening to nothing but them, when it came time to stop celebrating I decided to next fill up the Hitachi with only Queens of the Stone Age. And Queens of the Stone Age only. No Mondo Generator, no Kyuss, no Eagles of Death Metal. Nothing but QOTSA.

This is when I finally really 'heard' Lullabies To Paralyze (in its entirety and in pieces). And when heard in comparison to QOTSA's other albums, I finally realised how great this album is, and deserves 5 stars through and through. I personally think everyone should wait 1 to 3 years before they review an album. :) Don't let me tell you what to do though. It's just that if after a year or two you're still listening to that album and still noticing new things in it, then that's a hallmark of a great album. Everything's so damn temporary these days, ya know? Let it sink in a bit.

And based on "Precious & Grace" if QOTSA strolled up on stage and announced 'The ZZ Top you once knew is gone. We are now ZZ Top.', I do not think they would get any argument from me. They could be ZZ Top if they wanted to. ;)

This album is brilliant. And there's things on here when you listen to the album very closely followed by tracks from Era Vulgaris (2007) that say QOTSA was heading towards Era Vulgaris in sound and design anyway. "Skin on Skin" and "Broken Box" could easily be Vulgaris songs. But truly there's so many influences and things going into what makes a QOTSA album what it is, it doesn't matter where they're heading or where they've been . It's all good. And I'm not in the know to say that Homme is the main songwriter for all things QOTSA. He may be just very generous when it comes down to songwriting credits (but I think drummers should get credit for song composition too. I don't see why not). He may just be a genius at selecting musicians to work with. Whatever it is that Homme is responsible for, as a songwriter myself, I'm slightly envious. Because he just comes up with songs you wish you wrote. A lot of QOTSA's material utilises the same design, beat that riff down into the ground, but you absolutely love them for doing it. It's incessant. Unrelenting. It's very cool. You hear shades of 70's classic rock, glam, punk, new wave, heavy metal all in there, but it's all kind of disturbed and ominous. Yea. QOTSA are kind of ominous. Slightly twisted up.

So I was hearing a lot of these songs really for the first time in the past month. I just didn't head towards Lullabies as often as Deaf, Vulgaris and Rated R. ('QOTSA the first' kind of escaped some listens as well.) When I was ripping MP3's to my PC a few years ago, only "Tangled Up In Plaid" made it the library cavalcade. Other QOTSA albums were ripped a plenty. Lullabies was gently ignored. But that's cool. I'm listening to it non-stop now. QOTSA got their money from me at the time, and here I am reviewing it now hoping that what I say get's them some more money somehow.

Did I say how great this album is? "Everybody Knows That You're Insane". I can't stop listening to this song. Once I finally heard it, I kicked myself for ignoring it in the first place. But I'm listening now. I can't help thinking of The Partridge Family when hearing "Broken Box". It just somehow brings me to 70's bubblegum music, but yet the whole song is this fuzzed out, contemptuous (of whomever the lyrics may be about) piece of distorted something or other. It's like a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket found in an alleyway on the wrong side of town at the right time of night for bad things. (The Ominous of the Stone Age). "Skin On Skin' is just nasty. It's a dirty song. It's all shadows and bad neon lighting. It's a seedy dive. It's great! Liquid decadence. Don't know why I wrote that in relation to the song, but it sounded right.

Surely "In My Head" will turn up on the inevitable The Greatest Hits of the Queens of the Stone Age's Greatest Hits collection one day. It bears the hallmark of what makes the QOTSA 'format' so ... QOTSA. And when I say format I don't mean it's just 'manufactured' or a thing Homme and Co. says, let's just do a song like that one again but change the lyric or the key. I just mean they do this thing, and you know they did it before, but you don't care. Because elements of the song stick out so much that its difference from another is so noticeable that any comparison seems moot. I just think Homme and who he works with and what comes out, is great songwriting. I think it's magical. I think there's so much talent and creativity associated with QOTSA that to not see it seems .... stupid! I think they (those associated) have contributed to one of the best bands of the last 20 years. And if Homme is responsible for that, then let it be so.

Sometimes I think this might be the best of the QOTSA albums. I don't know why. It's really turning into a favourite. But then I really like the direction Era Vulgaris has gone. (In my Era Vulgaris review I compared it to QOTSA's equivalent of David Bowie's LOW, and the direction he pursued for the latter half of the 70's working with Brian Eno & Robert Fripp). Maybe Lullabies is like a closing chapter on a certain phase of QOTSA's career, and Vulgaris is going into different territory. Don't know. Too early to tell. But I know Skin On Skin and Broken Box said to listeners what Era Vulgaris might sound like.

Much has been said of Nick Oliveri's ouster from the group and the reprecussions thereof, but this album reaffirms how unnecessary he is. The opener is a dark, quiet tune with Mark Lanegan providing some of the most haunting vocals I have ever heard. As soon as it has started, it is done, only to initiate the musical carnage. The disc loses momentum halfway through, but closes very well with "Long, Slow Goodbye". Even though it's not their best disc, it is well worth picking up.

Well, as this album leads from songs for the deaf, i also have to say, this is a really good album. Long slow goodbye, little sister, and in my head are really good songs, and someone's in the wolf, (another song on the album) is good. and practically every song is pretty good. I would say the worst song(s) are broken box, and you got a killer scene there man. Well, let's see what our surprise is on the next album......

...on buying this second hand for $50, It's being reissued in November! This album is a classic and everyone should own a copy. Children should be given this record at birth. It should be a high school graduation pre-requisite. It should be a mandatory listen in order to use your genitalia. Yep...it's really that good kids!

This is a must have for any QOTSA fan. It may come at a higher price but this hard to find album was worth every bit of $50 to me. Check it out you wont be dissapointed!

I had the opportunity to buy this disc for $20 and passed. It has since been discontinued and now can be found for upwards of $50. I ended up paying about that much for it, but it does not disappoint. If you were impressed with the tracks from the live disc, you definitely need to pick this up, price be damned. A tight disc all around, the only minor exception being "You Would Know", which is still an OK song. If you were let down by Lullabies or Era Vulgaris, then this is a must. Even if you liked those albums, this is still probably worth your $. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have never felt that queens was exactly the easiest band to digest. They are can be as eclectic as they are hard hitting, and they have done an excellent job throughout that their career of evolving and transcending genres. Calling the hard rock version of WEEN would be very appropriate.
That said, I originally bought this album in '98 when I was still lamenting the loss of Kyuss. At first I thought, kind like kyuss, but not what I really want.
Then after repeated listens (mainly cuz I wanted it to be as good as kyuss) I noticed that these songs are just totally hypnotic. It doesn't sound like kyuss or like any of queens subsequent releases. It stands on it own.
Personally I think this record just kind of sucks you down into a queens hole which is difficult to get out of. Everytrack on here has its own sort of odd hypnosis, the beginning song "regular john" being the best example of this. I mean how can a band continue to hit the same not for 45 seconds yet still keep you mesmerized? That is the brilliance of queens and even though kyuss still holds a special place in my heart, I have to admit that this band is better, w/ genius songcraft and hypnotic riffs. If I didn't have this record already, I would still by it on amazon for 75 bucks used.
Well worth it.

...To make a long story short, this debut album by QOTSA is their best album. If someone wants to know the band please do not start with the last album. Not because it is not a good one but you have to take things from the beginning.
This album is a bridge from the Kyuss session to the new robot rock sound of QOTSA.
It contains some of their best songs ever written by them such as Regular John, Avon, If only, Mexicola, you can't quit me baby.

Absolutely 5 stars.

This is the ultimate live show on dvd, and it comes with a special live cd also..! It's super and it's cheap so buy it!

I am a huge fan of QOTSA, but I have sadly never made it any of their shows. My friends who have been were not impressed, so I had low expectations. I suppose the venue they saw them at must have sucked, because these discs are freakin priceless! My only complaint is that the CD is lacking Avon, Feel Good Hit, and Fun Machine. The versions of No One Knows and Long, Slow Goodbye are fantastic. If you like QOTSA, there is no excuse for you not to own this.

This came on one of my Cable Movie Channels while I was on the computer and it affected me so horribly I just had to come on here and write a review. How do so many musically ignorant people live in this world that bands like Queens of the Stone Age can not only exist but thrive. Do you know why the entire concert is dark? So that you can't see how bad they are at playing their instruments. The singer has absolutely no singing talent, get over it. And when he insults the guy throwing things at him, I felt bad for the guy, because if I was stuck at that concert I would be throwing things at them too. I'd probably tell them to take some guitar lessons as well. Go listen to Metal you fairies.

Queens of the Stone Age are at the top of their game in this DVD/CD combo. The DVD shows the band in London playing a nice mix of all of their songs PRIOR to Era Vulgaris. Josh Homme is in great form, both vocally and in his unusual and creative guitar playing. Thank God, the occasional guitar solo is still alive when it comes to these guys. Complimenting Josh are Troy VanLeeuwen and Alain Johannes trading off guitar and bass duties quite nicely. If you're a drummer in training, Joey Castillo absolutely puts on a clinic with a tireless performance. He's one of the great drummers out there today, at least as good as his QOTSA predecessor, Dave Grohl. The sound is excellent. I agree with another reviewer that, for a short period, the camera work/production gets a bit too "artsy." But for the most part, they do a good job, focusing on the right players at the right times and having a minimum of crowd scenes, something other concert DVDs get carried away with. Not a lot of big stage production here, the boys just came to play music, and boy, do they! You get a lot of songs in the initial concert phase of this DVD (all complete versions, by the way.)

Not all are entire songs, sound and/or video quality is a little shaky on some. Historically, however, kinda neat.
Lastly, you get a 2nd disc CD of most of the performances from the 1st phase(concert) of the DVD.
If you are a Queens of the Stone Age fan, this collection is essential. If not, treat yourself. You won't be sorry.
You should be able to purchase this for under $20, a great bargain.

Any of you who think Queens have lost any of their music credibility haven't been listening to KROQ in LA. Queens are an amazing band; raw yet poetic. Leave them be to make music that makes sense!!!!!

First, I dug the lead track ever since I heard the version on the Desert Sessions Volume 9 & 10.

I thought QOTSA covering "White Wedding" would be pretty cool. It is, in its own gritty way.

However, it was the Brian Eno cover that suprised me. Somehow, I didn't make the connection when I saw the track listing. So, it suprised me when I recognized the tune, and QOTSA's interpetation of the song suprised me with it's approach, etc.

This is one of the records that left you a mystery about what may happen with the Queens of the Stone Age. I tell you, QOTSA is one of the most fascinating bands around, and when they came out with this album, I did get worried, but I also was excited for a new release, covers, rarities and all.

The album kicks off with Nick Oliveri covering The Kinks "Who'll Be The Next In Line", perfeclty matching their surf0rock blend in rock music. Most of the people here would say this song was picked as a shot at Mick, but for me, it was just a good cover of a good UK band. Next Song is Nick's cover of "Wake Up Screaming" which sounds like a good punk cover with a wonderful horror velour implication. The beginning almost bored me completely, wondering when is he going to just get out of dreamland and get to that nightmare already, until you remember that nightmares don't start out as nightmares. Excellent cover. With "Most Exalted Potentate of Love", this cover was my absolute favorite song ever on the album. Not just because of the retro B-Movie velour, but it makes you believe how a man most feared can be known as such a sexy Frankenstein. My favorite line in the song is "I'll teach you how to read the book of life/You can just look at the pictures, if you like." I'm kind of dissapointed "Everybody's Going To Be Happy" (Kinks cover) wasn't there.

Remixes: No One Knows (UNKLE Remix): I wouldn't really listen to this song as much. But the touch that UNKLE put on this doesn't make it as completely cryptic and forceful as they added for Josh Homme's appearance in "Safe In Mind" on Never Never Land.

Rarities: "Born To Hula", I remembered that this song wasn't realy a rarity. It was on their EP with Beaver (right?) Nonetheless, listening to this song makes me want to go buy the EP. The title did leave a bit of irony, though. Knowing Josh, you may think this song would have a Hawaiian feel and not be so driven and rugged as it sounds. Now I admit it wasn't easy trying to get into the rarity for First It Giveth, "The Bronze". I thought it was kind of...blah on the first listen, especially the beginning. But the song is good but not completely good to listen to. Now if only we can convince Queens to throw on "Infinity" and "Ode To Clarissa". THat made me want to go to Lullaies and find out what actual bonus song is on there.

There you have it. My mystery well spent was filled with a CD of Hope and mystery for the band called Stone Age Complications. This CD may also be your favorite or the last Queens album, if you didn't like the album that Josh Homme created in Lullabies to Paralyze. The album gets a 8.5/10

I can only give this, the compilation of various Q.O.T.S.A songs from the split e.p's and b-sides, a four as it seems like a bit of a wasted oppurtunity since it's only 6 songs long and missing crucial ones.

The cover versions here, "who'll be next in line" by The Kinks, "wake up screaming" by Sub Hum Anz and "thee most exhalted potentate of love" are all superb and are all as good as the original songs (finally : someone has actually covered a classic song from those masters of cover versions, The Cramps, that doesn't suck and isn't an embarrasment to the original), "the bronze" is simply one of the best Q.O.T.S.A songs to date and "born 2 hula" also rocks but the remix of "no one ones" is dreadful and pointless. How Josh Homme included that but neglected rare Q.O.T.S.A classics like "spiders and vingeroos" from the split with Kyuss, "these aren't the droids you're looking for" from the split with Beaver and b-sides like "you're so vague" and "never say never" i don't know.

If you haven't got these songs then it's a must-have for "the bronze" and the 3 fantastic cover versions but i'd pay the extra to get the original ep's, personally, to get all their songs.

Lambast-your-ears hard rock got its new champions in the Queens of the Stone Age, with their dark sound and screaming, heavy instrumentation. In "Stone Age Complications," they link together a six-song EP of their remixes, rarities and covers -- and the result is very solid.

It kicks off with a solid cover of the Kinks "Who'll Be the Next in Line," a bit more conventionally catchy than what the Queens of the Stone Age usually do, but still with the flavor of their work. After that is an eerie cover of Subhumanz's "Wake Up Screaming," and a buzzing, heavy version of the Cramps' "Most Exalted Potentate of Love."

But Queens of the Stone Age don't neglect their own material either. An unusual remix of "No One Knows" is included, very synthy and gothic. There are also two unused songs: "Born to Hula," a percussion-heavy rocker with lots of bass and cymbals, and the slowly built-up, distorted "The Bronze."

Usually compilations of B-sides, covers and remixes -- especially if they include all three -- are a mixed bag. But surprisingly, Queens of the Stone Age keep their EP solid and smooth. It feels like a bunch of puzzle pieces that click smoothly together, yet don't sound monotonous.

The instrumentation is still in fine form in "Complications" -- in true rock tradition, these guys mix heavy guitar riffs with grinding bass and some fast-as-lightning percussion. And there's a hint of dark, watery synth at the start of the "No One Knows" Unkle Remix, which gives a surreal edge to a song which wasn't surreal to start with.

The vocals are equally good -- Josh Homme, of Kyuss and the Desert Sessions, has a strong, slightly sweet voice. It's a little annoying when he launches into frantic howls at the end of "Wake Up Screaming," but he keeps himself restrained in the other songs. When he sings "Who'll be the next in line?/... Who'll make the same mistakes I made over you?", he even sounds stern, like someone delivering a lecture.

Queens of the Stone Age deliver a solid EP of their rarities, remixes and B-sides in "Stone Age Complications." It's not the best introduction to the band, but definitely a must-have for fans.

This was probably my favorite QOTSA Record yet. And if you're thinking about getting a QOTSA record, you should probably get this one.

While their last album came up a little short, QOTSA are back on track with this latest album. "Sick, Sick, Sick" is the pound for pound juggernaut on here leading in to the whacky arithmetic glam rock of "I'm Designer", were Josh Homme plays the part of a pretentious Gen-X cad over a squacking Gang of Four guitar. But the strongest, most solid song is "3's & 7's" an arena ready radio anthem right out of the nineties. Still, the best band of this decade.

I own every Queens album except there sadly out of print debut, but this is quite easily the best I've heard. Lullibies almost scared me off with medicore lyrics, dull guitar, or just plain bad delivery on nearly half the songs. But this album has more vision than any record that they've spun out. The songs are interwieving and complex, as well as softer, well not betraying either the bands metal or punkish roots. The lyrics have a deegree of poetry often absent from previous songs the bands made. The dark, vaugely artificial atmosphere is incrediable and inspired. Nothing as good as No One Knows, but some of their best songs. I've collected well reviewed albums for a year, ranging from The beatles to Public Enemy to Miles Davis to Metalica to Bruce Springsteen to My Bloody Valentine to Marvin Gaye to Funkedelic to many more, and this is the first Queens album to really rank up with the classics, except perhaps Songs for the Death. Its at least as good as Sticky Fingers or The Bends. If you can't appreciate this as much as Lullibies at least than I must say your taste must be very narrow.

This album is mixed so nicely, giving it a real old-school rock sound, and the LP definitely brings that out.

Plus, there's a bonus song not included on the CD.

This disc opens with the monster, "Feel Good Hit of the Summer", and keeps youy guessing all the way through. My favorite is "Into the Fade", with vocals courtesy of rock god Mark Lanegan. The only filler is the Oliveri tune "Quick and to the Pointless", but at least he makes it up with "Autopilot". Not my favorite QOTSA disc, but also necessary.

I bought this album after purchasing Songs for the Deaf because i could not stop listening to it. Months afterward the songs were still as incredible as the first time i listened. I got Rated R after reading the good reviews about it. Maybe its the lack of Dave Grohl, or just not being my type of music, because this hardly seems like the same band. Apart from Better Living Through Chemistry, i struggled to find a track that compared to Songs for the Deaf. Maybe it's more apt for a different genre but whatever it is, don't purchase it based on how much you enjoyed Songs for the Deaf.

If you like the Queens of the Stoneage you owe it to yourself to buy this record.You will not be disappointed

Songs for the Deaf is their best work, but this album is a very close second and better rounded than any of their other albums. A must for any fan.

In my opinion this record is the most raw and creative of all the QoTSA's records. The addition of Mark Lanegans vocals rounded off this record. I'd say if you like unique music, and hard rock. You should own this record.
